RESUMEN

Zika virus (ZIKV) infection caused neurological complications and male infertility, leading to the accumulation of antigen-specific immune cells in immune-privileged organs (IPOs). Thus, it is important to understand the immunological responses to ZIKV in IPOs. We extensively investigated the ZIKV-specific T cell immunity in IPOs in Ifnar1-/- mice, based on an immunodominant epitope E294-302 tetramer. The distinct kinetics and functions of virus-specific CD8+ T cells infiltrated into different IPOs were characterized, with late elevation in the brain and spinal cord. Single epitope E294-302-specific T cells can account for 20-60% of the total CD8+ T cells in the brain, spinal cord, and testicle and persist for at least 90 days in the brain and spinal cord. The E294-302-specific TCRαßs within the IPOs are featured with the majority of clonotypes utilizing TRAV9N-3 paired with diverse TRBV chains, but with distinct αß paired clonotypes in 7 and 30 days post-infection. Specific chemokine receptors, Ccr2 and Ccr5, were selectively expressed in the E294-302-specific CD8+ T cells within the brain and testicle, indicating an IPO-oriented migration of virus-specific CD8+ T cells after infection. Overall, this study adds to the understanding of virus-specific CD8+ T cell responses for controlling and clearing ZIKV infection in IPOs.IMPORTANCEThe immune-privileged organs (IPOs), such as the central nervous system and testicles, presented pathogenicity and inflammation after Zika virus (ZIKV) infection with infiltrated CD8+ T cells. Our data show that CD8+ T cells keep up with virus increases and decreases in immune-privileged organs. Furthermore, our study provides the first ex vivo comparative analyses of the composition and diversity related to TCRα/ß clonotypes across anatomical sites and ZIKV infection phases. We show that the vast majority of TCRα/ß clonotypes in tissues utilize TRAV9N-3 with conservation. Specific chemokine expression, including Ccr2 and Ccr5, was found to be selectively expressed in the E294-302-specific CD8+ T cells within the brain and testicle, indicating an IPO-oriented migration of the virus-specific CD8+ T cells after the infection. Our study adds insights into the anti-viral immunological characterization and chemotaxis mechanism of virus-specific CD8+ T cells after ZIKV infection in different IPOs.

Aflatoxin is a highly toxic substance, of which aflatoxin B1 is the most toxic and carcinogenic among aflatoxins. In this paper, the team used homemade CdSe/Zns quantum dots to construct a fluorescent immunoprobe and all-antigen coupling with aflatoxin B1. It used a self-developed fluorescence intensity detector to detect aflatoxin B1 in five traditional Chinese medicines, namely, ginseng, Panax ginseng, Chuanxiong rhizome, rhubarb, and yam. The recoveries were 80.0-102.0%; the relative standard deviations (RSD)were from 2.4 to 9.2.

The emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) at the end of 2019 stimulated vigorous research efforts in immunology and vaccinology. In addition to innate immune responses, both virus-specific humoral and cellular immune responses are of importance for viral clearance. T cell epitopes play a central role in T cell-based immune responses. Herein, we summarized the peptide/major histocompatibility complex (pMHC) structures of the SARS-CoV-2-derived T cell epitopes available in the Protein Data Bank (PDB) and proposed the challenge and opportunities for using of T cell epitopes in future vaccine development efforts. A total of 27 SARS-CoV-2 related pMHC structures and five complexes with T cell receptors were retrieved. The peptides are mainly distributed on spike (S), nucleocapsid (N), and ORF1ab proteins. Most peptides are conserved among variants of concerns (VOCs) for SARS-CoV-2, except for several mutated peptides located in the S protein. The structures of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) complexed with seven epitopes derived from SARS-CoV were also retrieved, which showed a potential cross T cell immunity with SARS-CoV-2. Structural studies of antigenic peptides from SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV help to visualize the processes and the mechanisms of cross T cell immunity. T cell epitope-oriented vaccines are potential next-generation vaccines for SARS-CoV-2, which are worthy of further investigation.

OBJECTIVE: Adult granulosa cell tumors (AGCTs) are rare malignancies that accounts for approximately 1% of ovarian neoplasms. As there are currently no well-recognized models for predicting relapse-free survival (RFS), we performed a clinicopathological analysis to identify risk factors for AGCT recurrence. METHODS: We investigated 130 patients with pathologically diagnosed AGCT as confirmed by the presence of the characteristic FOXL2 C402G mutation. RESULTS: Most patients had International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage I disease (n = 122, 95.3%). The 10-year RFS rate was 31.4% (22/70) and mean 10-year RFS was 74.4 (95% CI, 65.2-83.7) months. Ten patients experienced recurrence beyond the 10-year follow-up period. Undergoing fertility sparing surgery, an estrogen receptor-α (ERα) score (>0.25), and a Ki-67 index >15% were independent risk factors for recurrence in patients with stage I disease (bias-corrected C-index: 0.776). We constructed a nomogram with well-fitting calibration plots; the areas under the curve (AUCs) for 5-, and 10-year RFS prediction were 0.883 and 0.906 respectively. A simplified model with 3 predictive factors (ERα score, Ki-67 index, and primary surgical procedure) and 2 risk stratification subgroups (low- and high-risk) was constructed; its AUCs for 5-, and 10-year RFS prediction were 0.825 and 0.850 respectively. Kaplan-Meier survival curves showed significant differences in 10-year RFS between the low- and high-risk groups (p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The type of primary surgical procedure, ERα score, and Ki-67 index are independent predictors of recurrence for patients with stage I AGCT. Our predictive model based on these factors showed good performance.

Benefitting from the maximum atom utilization efficiency, special size quantum effects and tailored active sites, single-atom catalysts (SACs) have been promising candidates for bifunctional catalysts toward water splitting. Besides, due to the unique structure and properties, some amorphous materials have been found to possess better performance than their crystalline counterparts in electrocatalytic water splitting. Herein, by combining the advantages of ruthenium (Ru) single atoms and amorphous substrates, amorphous molybdenum-based oxide stabilized single-atomic-site Ru (Ru SAs-MoO3- x /NF) catalysts are conceived as a self-supported electrode. By virtue of the large surface area, enhanced intrinsic activity and fast reaction kinetics, the as-prepared Ru SAs-MoO3- x /NF electrode effectively drives both oxygen evolution reaction (209 mV @ 10 mA cm-2 ) and hydrogen evolution reaction (36 mV @ 10 mA cm-2 ) in alkaline media. Impressively, the assembled electrolyzer merely requires an ultralow cell voltage of 1.487 V to deliver the current density of 10 mA cm-2 . Furthermore, such an electrode also exhibits a great application potential in alkaline seawater electrolysis, achieving a current density of 100 mA cm-2 at a low cell voltage of 1.759 V. In addition, Ru SAs-MoO3- x /NF only has very small current density decay in the long-term constant current water splitting test.

BACKGROUND: Emerging studies indicate the critical involvement of microorganisms, such as Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Immunosuppressive therapies for IBD can reactivate latent EBV, complicating the clinical course of IBD. Moreover, the clinical significance of EBV expression in B lymphocytes derived from IBD patients' intestinal tissues has not been explored in detail. AIM: To explore the clinical significance of latent EBV infection in IBD patients. METHODS: Latent EBV infection was determined by double staining for EBV encoded RNA and CD20 in colon specimens of 43 IBD patients who underwent bowel resection. Based on the staining results, the patients were divided into two groups, according to their latent EBV infection states - negative (n = 33) and positive (n = 10). Illness severity of IBD were assigned according to Crohn's disease activity index (ulcerative colitis) and Mayo staging system (Crohn's disease). The clinic-pathological data were analyzed between the two different latent EBV groups and also between the mild-to-moderate and severe disease groups. RESULTS: Systolic pressure (P = 0.005), variety of disease (P = 0.005), the severity of illness (P = 0.002), and pre-op corticosteroids (P = 0.025) were significantly different between the EBV-negative and EBV-positive groups. Systolic pressure (P = 0.001), variety of disease (P = 0.000), pre-op corticosteroids (P = 0.011) and EBV infection (P = 0.003) were significantly different between the mild-to-moderate and severe disease groups. CONCLUSION: IBD patients with latent EBV infection may manifest more severe illnesses. It is suggested that the role of EBV in IBD development should be further investigated, latent EBV infection in patients with serious IBD should be closely monitored, and therapeutic course should be optimized.

Influenza A viruses (IAVs) and influenza B viruses (IBVs) cause annual epidemics in human populations with seasonal circulation spikes. Peptide AM58-66GL9 located at residues 58-66 of M1 protein of IAVs has been recognized as an immunodominant T cell epitope with HLA-A*0201 restriction and broadly used as a positive reference in influenza immunity. This peptide also almost completely overlaps with a nuclear export signal (NES) 59-68 in IAV M1, which explains the limited escape mutations under the T cell immune pressure in this region. In this study, we investigated the potential immunogenicity and NES in the corresponding region of IBV. The long peptide covering this region can be recognized by specific T cells and induce robust expression of IFN-γ among HLA-B*1501 donors in vivo, but not in HLA-A*0201 donors. Among a series of truncated peptides derived from this region, we identified an immunodominant HLA-B*1501-restricted T cell epitope BM58-66AF9 (ALIGASICF) in the M1 protein of IBV. Furthermore, the structure of the HLA-B*1501/BM58-66AF9 complex shows that BM58-66AF9 performs a flat and featureless conformation that is similar to AM58-66GL9 presented by HLA-A*0201. In contrast with IAV, the sequence around residues 55-70 of IBV M1 does not contain an NES. Our comparative study on IBVs and IAVs provides new insights into the immune and evolution characteristics of IBVs and may shed light on vaccine development for influenza viruses.

The acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients obtain limited benefits from current immune checkpoint blockades (ICBs), although immunotherapy have achieved encouraging success in numerous cancers. Here, we found that V-domain Ig suppressor of T cell activation (VISTA), a novel immune checkpoint, is highly expressed in primary AML cells and associated with poor prognosis of AML patients. Targeting VISTA by anti-VISTA mAb boosts T cell-mediated cytotoxicity to AML cells. Interestingly, high expression of VISTA is positively associated with hyperactive STAT3 in AML. Further evidence showed that STAT3 functions as a transcriptional regulator to modulate VISTA expression by directly binding to DNA response element of VISTA gene. We further develop a potent and selective STAT3 inhibitor W1046, which significantly suppresses AML proliferation and survival. W1046 remarkably enhances the efficacy of VISTA mAb by activating T cells via inhibition of STAT3 signaling and down-regulation of VISTA. Moreover, combination of W1046 and VISTA mAb achieves a significant anti-AML effect in vitro and in vivo. Overall, our findings confirm that VISTA is a potential target for AML therapy which transcriptionally regulated by STAT3 and provide a promising therapeutic strategy for immunotherapy of AML.

Solid pseudopapillary neoplasms (SPNs) of the pancreas are rare. They are considered low-grade malignancies, and a small percentage of patients experience recurrence or metastasis. It is critical to investigate associated biological behavior and identify patients at a risk of relapse. This was a retrospective study of 486 patients with SPNs who were diagnosed between 2000 and 2021. Their clinicopathologic features, including 23 parameters and prognoses were analyzed. Six patients (1.2%) presented with synchronous liver metastasis. A total of 21 patients experienced recurrence or metastasis postoperatively. The overall and disease-specific survival rates were 99.8% and 100%, respectively. The 5- and 10-year relapse-free survival (RFS) rates were 97.4% and 90.2%, respectively. Tumor size, lymphovascular invasion, and the Ki-67 index were independent predictors of relapse. Furthermore, a Peking Union Medical College Hospital-SPN risk model was built to evaluate the risk of relapse and compared it with the American Joint Committee on Cancer tumor staging system (eighth edition, 2017). Risk factors included 3 parameters: tumor size (>9 cm), lymphovascular invasion status (presence), and Ki-67 index (>1%). Risk grades were available for 345 patients, who were divided into 2 groups: (1) low risk (n = 124) and (2) high risk (n = 221). The group with no risk factors was designated as low risk and had a 10-year RFS of 100%. The group associated with 1 to 3 factors was designated as high risk, with a 10-year RFS of 75.3%. Receiver operating characteristic curves were generated, and the area under the curve was 0.791 for our model and 0.630 for the American Joint Committee on Cancer with respect to the cancer staging system. We validated our model in independent cohorts and demonstrated a sensitivity of 98.3%. In conclusion, SPNs are low-grade malignant neoplasms that rarely metastasize, and the 3 selected pathologic parameters can be used to predict their behavior. A novel Peking Union Medical College Hospital-SPN risk model was proposed for routine application to guide the patient counseling in clinical practice.

Zika virus (ZIKV)-specific T cells are activated by different peptides derived from virus structural and nonstructural proteins, and contributed to the viral clearance or protective immunity. Herein, we have depicted the profile of CD8+ and CD4+ T cell immunogenicity of ZIKV proteins in C57BL/6 (H-2b) and BALB/c (H-2d) mice, and found that featured cellular immunity antigens were variant among different murine alleles. In H-2b mice, the proteins E, NS2, NS3 and NS5 are recognized as immunodominant antigens by CD8+ T cells, while NS4 is dominantly recognized by CD4+ T cells. In contrast, in H-2d mice, NS1 and NS4 are the dominant CD8+ T cell antigen and NS4 as the dominant CD4+ T cell antigen, respectively. Among the synthesized 364 overlapping polypeptides spanning the whole proteome of ZIKV, we mapped 91 and 39 polypeptides which can induce ZIKV-specific T cell responses in H-2b and H-2d mice, respectively. Through the identification of CD8+ T cell epitopes, we found that immunodominant regions E294-302 and NS42351-2360 are hotspots epitopes with a distinct immunodominance hierarchy present in H-2b and H-2d mice, respectively. Our data characterized an overall landscape of the immunogenic spectrum of the ZIKV polyprotein, and provide useful insight into the vaccine development.

Theoretical calculations unveil that the formation of Os-OsSe2 heterostructures with neutralized work function (WF) perfectly balances the electronic state between strong (Os) and weak (OsSe2 ) adsorbents and bidirectionally optimizes the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity of Os sites, significantly reducing thermodynamic energy barrier and accelerating kinetics process. Then, heterostructural Os-OsSe2 is constructed for the first time by a molten salt method and confirmed by in-depth structural characterization. Impressively, due to highly active sites endowed by the charge balance effect, Os-OsSe2 exhibits ultra-low overpotentials for HER in both acidic (26 mV @ 10 mA cm-2 ) and alkaline (23 mV @ 10 mA cm-2 ) media, surpassing commercial Pt catalysts. Moreover, the solar-to-hydrogen device assembled with Os-OsSe2 further highlights its potential application prospects. Profoundly, this special heterostructure provides a new model for rational selection of heterocomponents.

The rational construction of earth-abundant and advanced electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is extremely desired and significant to seawater electrolysis. Herein, by directly etching Ni3 S2 nanosheets through potassium ferricyanide, a novel self-sacrificing template strategy is proposed to realize the in situ growth of NiFe-based Prussian blue analogs (NiFe PBA) on Ni3 S2 in an interfacial redox reaction. The well-designed Ni3 S2 @NiFe PBA composite as precursor displays a unique spherical magic cube architecture composed of nanocubes, which even maintains after a phosphating treatment to obtain the derived Ni3 S2 /Fe-NiPx on nickel foam. Specifically, in alkaline seawater, the Ni3 S2 /Fe-NiPx as OER precatalyst marvelously realizes the ultralow overpotentials of 336 and 351 mV at large current densities of 500 and 1000 mA cm-2 , respectively, with remarkable durability for over 225 h, outperforming most reported advanced OER electrocatalysts. Experimentally, a series of characterization results confirm the reconstruction behavior in the Ni3 S2 /Fe-NiPx surface, leading to the in situ formation of Ni(OH)2 /Ni(Fe)OOH with abundant oxygen vacancies and grain boundaries, which constructs the Ni3 S2 /Fe-NiPx reconstruction system responsible for the remarkable OER catalytic activity. Theoretical calculation results further verify the enhanced OER activity for Ni3 S2 /Fe-NiPx reconstruction system, and unveil that the Fe-Ni2 P/FeOOH as active origin contributes to the central OER activity.

BACKGROUND: Xinjiang, China shows the world's highest incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer. Due to limited conditions available for medical examination, hybrid capture 2 (HC2) and other detection methods are used rarely, and early screening for human papillomavirus (HPV) cannot be carried out. Therefore, we established a double-antibody sandwich (DAS)-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) based on a polymorphism of the Xinjiang HPV16 L1 strain (KU721788). METHODS: According to the conserved sequence and specific epitope of Xinjiang strain HPV16 L1, we prepared two anti-HPV16 L1 monoclonal antibodies and combined them to construct a DAS-ELISA. Detection conditions for the DAS-ELISA were optimized, and HC2 was used as the control to verify the specificity, repeatability and coincidence detection of the DAS-ELISA. RESULTS: The optimized conditions for the DAS-ELISA were: dilution of the capture antibody was 1:100; the enzyme-labelled antibody was 1:10; the sample reaction time was 45 min; the enzyme-labelled antibody was applied for 40 min, and the substrate color development time was 15 min. The quality of the DAS-ELISA for the detection of HPV 16 was very high, and there was no significant difference when compared with HC2. CONCLUSION: The DAS-ELISA developed on the basis of the Xinjiang strain (KU721788) polymorphism possesses the advantages of a detection rate similar to that for the HC2 assay currently used clinically, but it is more convenient operationally and at lower cost. DAS-ELISA is thus easier to implement for cervical cancer screening in economically depressed areas.

Developing high-efficiency electrocatalysts toward overall water splitting is an increasingly important area for sustainable energy evolution. Theoretical calculation results demonstrate that the incorporation of Ru optimizes the Gibbs free energy of adsorption of H2 O molecules and intermediates for the hydrogen/oxygen evolution reactions (HER/OER) on metal selenide sites, thus boosting electrocatalytic overall water splitting. Accordingly, ruthenium modified nickel diselenide nanosheet arrays are designed and construct on nickel foam (Ru-NiSe2 /NF). The obtained Ru-NiSe2 /NF electrode with a stable 3D structure shows greatly improved OER and HER activity in alkaline solution. Particularly, toward OER, it only requires 210 mV to obtain a current density of 10 mA cm-2 , and the formation of the intermediate nickel oxyhydroxide as active center during the OER process is captured by in situ Raman. Moreover, the overall water splitting can be driven by a voltage of merely 1.537 V to obtain 10 mA cm-2 . This work provides an available strategy for selenides to enhance electrochemical properties and inspires more studies to explore highly efficient electrocatalysts toward full water splitting.

Hitherto, there are almost no reports on the complete reconstruction in hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Herein, the authors develop a new type of reconfigurable fluoride (such as CoF2 ) pre-catalysts, with ultra-fast and in-depth self-reconstruction, substantially promoting HER activity. By experiments and density functional theory (DFT) calculations, the unique surface structure of fluorides, alkaline electrolyte and bias voltage are identified as key factors for complete reconstruction during HER. The enrichment of F atoms on surface of fluorides provides the feasibility of spontaneous and continuous reconstruction. The alkaline electrolyte triggers rapid F- leaching and supplies an immediate complement of OH- to form amorphous α-Co(OH)2 which rapidly transforms into ß-Co(OH)2 . The bias voltage promotes amorphous crystallization and accelerates the reconstruction process. These endow the generation of mono-component and crystalline ß-Co(OH)2 with a loose and defective structure, leading to an ultra-low overpotential of 54 mV at 10 mA cm-2 and super long-term stability exceeding that of Pt/C. Moreover, DFT calculations confirm that F- leaching optimizes hydrogen and water adsorption energies, boosting HER kinetics. Impressively, the self-reconstruction is also applicable to other non-noble transition metal fluorides. The work builds the fundamental comprehension of complete self-reconstruction during HER and provides a new perspective to conceive advanced catalysts.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has caused the pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Great international efforts have been put into the development of prophylactic vaccines and neutralizing antibodies. However, the knowledge about the B cell immune response induced by the SARS-CoV-2 virus is still limited. Here, we report a comprehensive characterization of the dynamics of immunoglobin heavy chain (IGH) repertoire in COVID-19 patients. By using next-generation sequencing technology, we examined the temporal changes in the landscape of the patient's immunological status and found dramatic changes in the IGH within the patient's immune system after the onset of COVID-19 symptoms. Although different patients have distinct immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 infection, by employing clonotype overlap, lineage expansion, and clonotype network analyses, we observed a higher clonotype overlap and substantial lineage expansion of B cell clones 2-3 weeks after the onset of illness, which is of great importance to B-cell immune responses. Meanwhile, for preferences of V gene usage during SARS-CoV-2 infection, IGHV3-74 and IGHV4-34, and IGHV4-39 in COVID-19 patients were more abundant than those of healthy controls. Overall, we present an immunological resource for SARS-CoV-2 that could promote both therapeutic development as well as mechanistic research.

The high-altitude ecosystem of the Tibetan Plateau in China is a biodiversity hotspot that provides unique habitats for endemic and relict species along an altitudinal gradient at the eastern edge. Acquiring biodiversity information in this area, where the average altitude is over 4000 m, has been difficult but has been aided by recent developments in non-invasive technology, including infrared-triggered camera trapping. We used camera trapping to acquire a substantial number of photographic wildlife records in Wolong National Nature Reserve, Sichuan, China, from 2013 to 2016. We collected information of the habitat surrounding the observation sites, resulting in a dataset covering 37 species and 12 environmental factors. We performed a multivariate statistical analysis to discern the dominant environmental factors and cluster the mammals and birds of the ecosystem in order to examine environmental factors contributing to the species' relative abundance. Species were generalized into three main types, i.e., cold-resistant, phyllophilic, and thermophilic, according to the identified key environmental drivers (i.e., temperature and vegetation) for their abundances. The mammal species with the highest relative abundance were bharal (Pseudois nayaur), Moupin pika (Ochotona thibetana), and Himalayan marmot (Marmota himalayana). The bird species with highest relative abundance were snow partridge (Lerwa lerwa), plain mountain finch (Leucosticte nemoricola), Chinese monal (Lophophorus lhuysii), and alpine accentor (Prunella collaris).

BACKGROUND: Mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasms (MiNEN) of the pancreas are extremely rare. Their pathogenesis and molecular landscape are largely unknown. Here, we report a case of mixed pancreatic intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) and well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumor (NET) and identify its genetic alterations by next-generation sequencing (NGS). CASE PRESENTATION: A fifty-year-old male was admitted into the hospital for evaluation of a pancreatic lesion detected during a routine examination. Abdominal ultrasound indicated a hypoechoic mass of 2.6 cm at the head of the pancreas. Malignancy was suspected and partial pancreatectomy was performed. Thorough histopathological examination revealed a mixed IPMN-NET. In some areas, the two components were relatively separated, whereas in other areas IPMN and NET grew in a composite pattern: The papillae were lined with epithelial cells of IPMN, and there were clusters of NET nests in the stroma of papillary axis. NGS revealed shared somatic mutations (KRAS, PCK1, MLL3) in both components. The patient has been uneventful 21 months after the surgery. CONCLUSIONS: Our case provides evidence of a common origin for mixed IPMN-NET with composite growth features. Our result and literature review indicate that KRAS mutation might be a driver event underlying the occurrence of MiNEN. We also recommend the inclusion of mixed non-invasive exocrine neoplasms and neuroendocrine neoplasms into MiNEN.

In this study, PtCu-Mo2 C heterostructure with charge redistribution is investigated via first-principles theoretical calculations. Mo2 C can promote the formation of the electron-rich region of PtCu as an active site, displaying an optimized adsorption behavior toward hydrogen in terms of reduced thermodynamic energy barriers. Owing to the attractive density functional theory calculation results, the PtCu-Mo2 C heterostructure is fabricated via carbonization of the unique metal-organic framework (MOF) followed by the replacement reduction reaction for the first time. Owing to its swift kinetics and outstanding specific activity, it exhibits high hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalytic activity (26 mV @ 10 mA cm-2 ) and superior mass activity (1 A mgPt -1 at -0.04 V) in acidic media, which is approximately six times that of commercial Pt/C catalysts. The perception of the intrinsic activity origin of the alloy with an excellent structural support can guide the development of Pt-based and other alloy catalysts in future.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) arising from severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has resulted in a global pandemic since its first report in December 2019. So far, SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid detection has been deemed as the golden standard of COVID-19 diagnosis. However, this detection method often leads to false negatives, thus triggering missed COVID-19 diagnosis. Therefore, it is urgent to find new biomarkers to increase the accuracy of COVID-19 diagnosis. To explore new biomarkers of COVID-19 in this study, expression profiles were firstly accessed from the GEO database. On this basis, 500 feature genes were screened by the minimum-redundancy maximum-relevancy (mRMR) feature selection method. Afterwards, the incremental feature selection (IFS) method was used to choose a classifier with the best performance from different feature gene-based support vector machine (SVM) classifiers. The corresponding 66 feature genes were set as the optimal feature genes. Lastly, the optimal feature genes were subjected to GO functional enrichment analysis, principal component analysis (PCA), and protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis. All in all, it was posited that the 66 feature genes could effectively classify positive and negative COVID-19 and work as new biomarkers of the disease.
