RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Although chemotherapy is effective for treating advanced gastric carcinoma (aGC), it may lead to an adverse prognosis. Establishing a highly effective and low-toxicity chemotherapy regimen is necessary for improving efficacy and outcomes in aGC patients. AIM: To determine the efficacy and safety of cetuximab (CET) combined with the FOLFOX4 regimen (infusional fluorouracil, folinic acid, and oxaliplatin) as first-line therapy for patients with aGC, who received evidence-based care (EBC). METHODS: A total of 117 aGC patients who received EBC from March 2019 to March 2022 were enrolled. Of these, 60 in the research group (RG) received CET + FOLFOX4 as first-line therapy, whereas 57 in the control group (CG) received FOLFOX4. The efficacy [clinical response rate (RR) and disease control rate (DCR)], safety (liver and kidney dysfunction, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, rash, and diarrhea), serum tumor marker expression [STMs; carbohydrate antigen (CA) 19-9, CA72-4, and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA)], inflammatory indicators [interleukin (IL)-2 and IL-10], and quality of life (QOL) of the two groups were compared. RESULTS: A markedly higher RR and DCR were observed in the RG compared with the CG, with an equivalent safety profile between the two groups. RG exhibited notably reduced CA19-9, CA72-4, CEA, and IL-2 levels following treatment, which were lower than the pre-treatment levels and those in the CG. Post-treatment IL-10 was statistically increased in RG, higher than the pre-treatment level and the CG. Moreover, a significantly improved QOL was evident in the RG. CONCLUSION: The CET + FOLFOX4 regimen is highly effective as first-line treatment for aGC patients receiving EBC. It facilitates the suppression of STMs, ameliorates the serum inflammatory microenvironment, and enhances QOL, without increased adverse drug effects.

Anticoagulant related nephropathy (ARN) is the result of glomerular hemorrhage in patients on systemic anticoagulation therapy or underlying coagulopathy. Red blood cells (RBC) that passed through the glomerular filtration barrier form RBC casts in the tubules, increase oxidative stress and result in acute tubular necrosis (ATN). The mechanisms of ARN still not completely discovered. Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) plays a significant role in the maintenance of coagulation homeostasis. We developed an animal model to study ARN in 5/6 nephrectomy (5/6NE) rats. The aim of this study was to elucidate the role of PAI-1 in the ARN pathogenesis. 5/6NE rats were treated per os with warfarin (0.75 mg/kg/day) or dabigatran (150 mg/kg/day) alone or in combination with PAI-1 antagonist TM5441 (2.5, 5.0 and 10 mg/kg/day). TM5441 in a dose dependent manner ameliorated anticoagulant-induced increase in serum creatinine in 5/6NE rats. Anticoagulant-associated increase in hematuria was no affected by TM5441. The levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the kidneys were in a dose-dependent manner decreased in 5/6NE rats treated with an anticoagulant and TM5441. Our data demonstrates that PAI-1 may reduce ARN by decreasing ROS in the kidneys. Glomerular hemorrhage is not affected by anti-PAI-1 treatment. These findings indicate that while symptoms of ARN can be reduced by PAI-1 inhibition, the main pathogenesis of ARN - glomerular hemorrhage - cannot be prevented.

Tetracycline (TC) and Cu(II) coexist commonly in various waters, which may infiltrate into the subterranean environment through runoff and leaching, resulting in substantial ecological risks. However, the underlying mechanisms why Cu(II) affects the transport of TC in porous media remain to be further explored and supported by more evidence, especially the role of complexation. In this study, the transport of TC with coexisting Cu(II) was comprehensively explored with column experiments and density functional theory (DFT) calculation. At natural environmental concentrations, Cu(II) significantly inhibited the transport of TC in the quartz sand column. Cu(II) augmented the retention of TC in the column mainly via electrostatic force and complexation. The interaction between TC and TC-Cu complexes on the surface of SiO2 was investigated with first-principles calculations for the first time. There were strong van der Waals forces and coordination bonds on the surface of complexes and SiO2, leading to higher adsorption energy than that of TC and inhibiting its penetration. This study offers novel insights and theoretical framework for the transport of antibiotics in the presence of metal ions to better understand the fate of antibiotics in nature.

BACKGROUND: Gastrointestinal neoplasm (GN) significantly impact the global cancer burden and mortality, necessitating early detection and treatment. Understanding the evolution and current state of research in this field is vital. AIM: To conducts a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of publications from 1984 to 2022 to elucidate the trends and hotspots in the GN risk assessment research, focusing on key contributors, institutions, and thematic evolution. METHODS: This study conducted a bibliometric analysis of data from the Web of Science Core Collection database using the "bibliometrix" R package, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace. The analysis focused on the distribution of publications, contributions by institutions and countries, and trends in keywords. The methods included data synthesis, network analysis, and visualization of international collaboration networks. RESULTS: This analysis of 1371 articles on GN risk assessment revealed a notable evolution in terms of research focus and collaboration. It highlights the United States' critical role in advancing this field, with significant contributions from institutions such as Brigham and Women's Hospital and the National Cancer Institute. The last five years, substantial advancements have been made, representing nearly 45% of the examined literature. Publication rates have dramatically increased, from 20 articles in 2002 to 112 in 2022, reflecting intensified research efforts. This study underscores a growing trend toward interdisciplinary and international collaboration, with the Journal of Clinical Oncology standing out as a key publication outlet. This shift toward more comprehensive and collaborative research methods marks a significant step in addressing GN risks. CONCLUSION: This study underscores advancements in GN risk assessment through genetic analyses and machine learning and reveals significant geographical disparities in research emphasis. This calls for enhanced global collaboration and integration of artificial intelligence to improve cancer prevention and treatment accuracy, ultimately enhancing worldwide patient care.

BACKGROUND: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been shown to play critical roles in the initiation and progression of chronic glomerulonephritis (CGN), while their role from mesangial cells in contributing to the pathogenesis of CGN is rarely understood. Our study aims to explore the potential functions of mesangial cell-derived circRNAs using RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) and bioinformatics analysis. METHODS: Mouse mesangial cells (MMCs) were stimulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to establish an in vitro model of CGN. Pro-inflammatory cytokines and cell cycle stages were detected by Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and Flow Cytometry experiment, respectively. Subsequently, differentially expressed circRNAs (DE-circRNAs) were identified by RNA-seq. GEO microarrays were used to identify differentially expressed mRNAs (DE-mRNAs) between CGN and healthy populations. Weighted co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) was utilized to explore clinically significant modules of CGN. CircRNA-associated CeRNA networks were constructed by bioinformatics analysis. The hub mRNAs from CeRNA network were identified using LASSO algorithms. Furthermore, utilizing protein-protein interaction (PPI), gene ontology (GO), pathway enrichment (KEGG), and GSEA analyses to explore the potential biological function of target genes from CeRNA network. In addition, we investigated the relationships between immune cells and hub mRNAs from CeRNA network using CIBERSORT. RESULTS: The expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1ß, IL-6, and TNF-α was drastically increased in LPS-induced MMCs. The number of cells decreased significantly in the G1 phase but increased significantly in the S/G2 phase. A total of 6 DE-mRNAs were determined by RNA-seq, including 4 up-regulated circRNAs and 2 down-regulated circRNAs. WGCNA analysis identified 1747 DE-mRNAs of the turquoise module from CGN people in the GEO database. Then, the CeRNA networks, including 6 circRNAs, 38 miRNAs, and 80 mRNAs, were successfully constructed. The results of GO and KEGG analyses revealed that the target mRNAs were mainly enriched in immune, infection, and inflammation-related pathways. Furthermore, three hub mRNAs (BOC, MLST8, and HMGCS2) from the CeRNA network were screened using LASSO algorithms. GSEA analysis revealed that hub mRNAs were implicated in a great deal of immune system responses and inflammatory pathways, including IL-5 production, MAPK signaling pathway, and JAK-STAT signaling pathway. Moreover, according to an evaluation of immune infiltration, hub mRNAs have statistical correlations with neutrophils, plasma cells, monocytes, and follicular helper T cells. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings provide fundamental and novel insights for further investigations into the role of mesangial cell-derived circRNAs in CGN pathogenesis.

RESUMEN

Chemical investigation of the wild mushroom Entoloma clypeatum led to the isolation of one new A-nor B-aromatic C28 steroid (1), along with eight known compounds (2-9) from this mushroom. As far as we know, compound 1 represents an unprecedented type of natural product. The structure of the new compound was elucidated based on extensive spectroscopic data analysis of HR-ESI-MS, 1D, and 2D NMR, while the relative configuration was confirmed by NOESY correlations. In addition, the anti-inflammatory activity of compound 1 was evaluated against LPS induced NO production in RAW 264.7 macrophages. Compound 1 exhibited a moderate anti-inflammatory activity with an IC50 value of 24.56 ± 1.72 µM.

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) knee patients have limited ability in physical function, or difficulties with physical tasks and activities may develop disability. This study aimed to observe the predictors of self-reported and performance-based physical function in patients with knee OA by analyzing the impacts of demographic, pathological, and muscle impairment factors. Methods: 135 knee OA patients participated in this study to complete self-reported questionnaires using Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS). When measuring performance-based physical function, a 6-meter gait speed (6MGS) test was measured to evaluate their mobility, and a 5-time Sit-to-Stand test (5STS) was assessed to evaluate their balance. Pain intensity, knee extensor and flexor muscle strength, age, body mass index (BMI), durations of symptoms, and radiographic severity were also collected. Spearman correlation and stepwise multiple linear regression were used to explore the association and predictors in self-reported and performance-based physical function. Results: BMI and durations of symptoms did not indicate any significant correlation with either self-reported or performance-based physical function. Age is significantly negatively associated with 6MGS (r 2 = -0.383, p < 0.01), while knee extensor muscle strength has a moderate correlation with 5STS (r 2 = -0.528, p < 0.01). In the stepwise multiple linear regression models, pain intensity (ß = 0.712, p < 0.001), knee flexor muscle strength (ß = 0.112, p = 0.042) were significantly associated with self-reported physical function in daily activities and contributed to 55.0% of the variance in KOOS-PF score. Knee muscle strength, including knee extensor (5STS: ß = -0.428, p < 0.001) and flexor muscle strength (6MGS: ß = 0.367, p < 0.001), were the main predictors with performance-based physical function. Conclusion: Pain intensity was the leading risk factor of self-reported physical function, and knee flexor muscle strength contributed as well. The severity of knee OA, durations of symptoms and BMI did not contribute to physical function. However, knee extensor and flexor muscle strength were the main predictors of performance-based performance. Our results show that strengthening of weak knee muscles in both quadriceps and hamstring muscle strength should be considered a priory consideration in knee OA no matter if people are in the early or end-stage of knee OA.

Fatigue cracking is one of the primary distresses of asphalt pavements, which significantly affects the asphalt pavement performance. The fatigue behavior of the asphalt mixture observed in the laboratory test can vary depending on the type of fatigue test and the dimension and shape of the test specimen. The variations can make it difficult to accurately evaluate the fatigue properties of the field asphalt concrete. Accordingly, this study proposed a reliable method to evaluate the fatigue behavior of the asphalt field cores based on discrete element modeling (DEM). The mesoscopic geometric model was built using discrete element software PFC (Particle Flow Code) and CT scan images of the asphalt field cores. The virtual fatigue test was simulated in accordance with the semi-circular bending (SCB) test. The mesoscopic parameters of the contacting model in the virtual test were determined through the uniaxial compression dynamic modulus test and SCB test. Based on the virtual SCB test, the displacement, contact forces, and crack growth were analyzed. The test results show that the fatigue life simulated in the virtual test was consistent with that of the SCB fatigue test. The fatigue cracks in the asphalt mixture were observed in three stages, i.e., crack initiation, crack propagation, and failure. It was found that the crack propagation stage consumes a significant portion of the fatigue life since the tensile contact forces mainly increase in this stage.

The binder ratio in a commercial lithium-ion battery is very low, but it is one of the key materials affecting the battery's performance. In this paper, polycarbonate-based polymers with liner or chain extension structures are proposed as binders. Then, dry LiFePO4 (LFP) electrodes with these binders are prepared using the solvent-free method. Polycarbonate-based polymers have a high tensile strength and a satisfactory bonding strength, and the rich polar carbonate groups provide highly ionic conductivity as binders. The batteries with poly (propylene carbonate)-plus (PPC-P) as binders were shown to have a long cycle life (350 cycles under 1 C, 89% of capacity retention). The preparation of dry electrodes using polycarbonate-based polymers can avoid the use of solvents and shorten the process of preparing electrodes. It can also greatly reduce the manufacturing cost of batteries and effectively use industrial waste gas dioxide oxidation. Most importantly, a battery material with this kind of polycarbonate polymer as a binder is easily recycled by simply heating after the battery is discarded. This paper provides a new idea for the industrialization and development of a novel binder.

Poly(propylene carbonate-co-phthalate) (PPC-P) is an amorphous copolymer of aliphatic polycarbonate and aromatic polyester; it possesses good biodegradability, superior mechanical performances, high thermal properties, and excellent affinity with CO2. Hence, we fabricate PPC-P foams in an autoclave by using subcritical CO2 as a physical blowing agent. Both saturation pressure and foaming temperature affect the foaming behaviors of PPC-P, including CO2 adsorption and desorption performance, foaming ratio, cell size, porosity, cell density, and nucleation density, which are investigated in this research. Moreover, the low-cost PPC-P/nano-CaCO3 and PPC-P/starch composites are prepared and foamed using the same procedure. The obtained PPC-P-based foams show ultra-high expansion ratio and refined microcellular structures simultaneously. Besides, nano-CaCO3 can effectively improve PPC-P's rheological properties and foamability. In addition, the introduction of starch into PPC-P can lead to a large number of open cells. Beyond all doubt, this work can certainly provide both a kind of new biodegradable PPC-P-based foam materials and an economic methodology to make biodegradable plastic foams. These foams are potentially applicable in the packaging, transportation, and food industry.

Organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices attain high performance with nonfullerene acceptors by utilizing the synergistic dual channels of charge generation that originate from excitations in both the donor and acceptor materials. However, the specific intermediate states that facilitate both channels are subject to debate. To address this issue, we employ time-resolved terahertz spectroscopy with improved sensitivity (ΔE/E < 10-6), enabling direct probing of charge generation dynamics in a prototypical PM6:Y6 bulk heterojunction system under one-sun-equivalent excitation density. Charge generation arising from donor excitations is characterized with a rise time of ∼9 ps, while that from acceptor excitations shows a rise time of ∼18 ps. Temperature-dependent measurements further reveal notably distinct activation energies for these two charge generation pathways. Additionally, the two channels of charge generation can be substantially manipulated by altering the ratio of bulk to interfaces. These findings strongly suggest the presence of two distinct intermediate states: interfacial and intramoiety excitations. These states are crucial in mediating the transfer of electrons and holes, driving charge generation within OPV devices.

Background: Few studies have compared the associations between long-term exposures to particulate matters (aerodynamic diameter ≤1, ≤2.5 and ≤10 µm: PM1, PM2.5 and PM10, respectively) and asthma and asthma-related respiratory symptoms. The objective of the present study was to compare the strength of the aforementioned associations in middle-aged and elderly adults. Methods: We calculated the mean 722-day personal exposure estimates of PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 at 1 km×1 km spatial resolution between 2013 and 2019 at individual levels from China High Air Pollutants (CHAP) datasets. Using logistic regression models, we presented the associations as odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals, for each interquartile range (IQR) increase in PM1/PM2.5/PM10 concentration. Asthma denoted a self-reported history of physician-diagnosed asthma or wheezing in the preceding 12 months. Results: We included 7371 participants in COPD surveillance from Guangdong, China. Each IQR increase in PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 was associated with a greater odds (OR (95% CI)) of asthma (PM1: 1.22 (1.02-1.45); PM2.5: 1.24 (1.04-1.48); PM10: 1.30 (1.07-1.57)), wheeze (PM1: 1.27 (1.11-1.44); PM2.5: 1.30 (1.14-1.48); PM10: 1.34 (1.17-1.55)), persistent cough (PM1: 1.33 (1.06-1.66); PM2.5: 1.36 (1.09-1.71); PM10: 1.31 (1.02-1.68)) and dyspnoea (PM1: 2.10 (1.84-2.41); PM2.5: 2.17 (1.90-2.48); PM10: 2.29 (1.96-2.66)). Sensitivity analysis results were robust after excluding individuals with a family history of allergy. Associations of PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 with asthma and asthma-related respiratory symptoms were slightly stronger in males. Conclusion: Long-term exposure to PM is associated with increased risks of asthma and asthma-related respiratory symptoms.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether tricyclic decylbenzoxazole (TDB) regulates liver cancer cell proliferation and apoptosis through p300-mediated FOXO acetylation. METHODS: Sequencing, adenovirus, and lentivirus transfection were performed in human liver cancer cell line SMMC-7721 and apoptosis was detected by Tunel, Hoechst, and flow cytometry. TEM for mitochondrial morphology, MTT for cell proliferation ability, Western blot, and PCR were used to detect protein levels and mRNA changes. RESULTS: Sequencing analysis and cell experiments confirmed that TDB can promote the up-regulation of FOXO3 expression. TDB induced FOXO3 up-regulation in a dose-dependent manner, promoted the expression of p300 and Bim, and enhanced the acetylation and dephosphorylation of FOXO3, thus promoting apoptosis. p300 promotes apoptosis of cancer cells through Bim and other proteins, while HAT enhances the phosphorylation of FOXO3 and inhibits apoptosis. Overexpression of FOXO3 can increase the expression of exo-apoptotic pathways (FasL, TRAIL), endo-apoptotic pathways (Bim), and acetylation at the protein level and inhibit cell proliferation and apoptotic ability, while FOXO3 silencing or p300 mutation can partially reverse apoptosis. In tumor tissues with overexpression of FOXO3, TDB intervention can further increase the expression of p53 and caspase-9 proteins in tumor cells, resulting in loss of mitochondrial membrane integrity during apoptosis, the release of cytoplasm during signal transduction, activation of caspase-9 and synergistic inhibition of growth. CONCLUSION: TDB induces proliferation inhibition and promotes apoptosis of SMMC-7721 cells by activating p300-mediated FOXO3 acetylation.

The neuropathological mechanism underlying presbycusis remains unclear. This study aimed to illustrate the mechanism of neurovascular coupling associated with cognitive impairment in patients with presbycusis. We assessed the coupling of cerebral blood perfusion with spontaneous neuronal activity by calculating the correlation coefficients between cerebral blood flow and blood oxygen level-dependent-derived quantitative maps (amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation, fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation, regional homogeneity, degree centrality). Four neurovascular coupling metrics (cerebral blood flow-amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation, cerebral blood flow-fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation, cerebral blood flow-regional homogeneity and cerebral blood flow-degree centrality) were compared at the global and regional levels between the presbycusis group and the healthy control group, and the intrinsic association between the altered neurovascular coupling metrics and the neuropsychological scale was further analysed in the presbycusis group. At the global level, neurovascular coupling was significantly lower in the presbycusis group than in the control group and partially related to cognitive level. At the regional level, neurovascular biomarkers were significantly elevated in three brain regions and significantly decreased in one brain region, all of which involved the Papez circuit. Regional neurovascular coupling provides more information than global neurovascular coupling, and neurovascular coupling dysfunction within the Papez circuit has been shown to reveal the causes of poor cognitive and emotional responses in age-related hearing loss patients.

OBJECTIVE: The main purpose of this study was to elucidate the anti-apoptotic effects of curculigoside (CUR) on ovarian granulosa cells (GCs) in a mouse model of cyclophosphamide (CTX)-induced premature ovarian failure (POF). METHOD: Intraperitoneal injection of CTX (100 mg/kg body weight) induced POF in mice. Thirty-six female mice were divided into six groups: blank group; POF model group; low-dose CUR group; medium-dose CUR group; high-dose CUR group; and estradiol benzoate group. Mice were orally administered for 28 consecutive days. Twenty-four hours after the completion of treatment, mice were weighed and euthanized, and blood was collected from the eyeball under anesthesia. The ovaries were surgically separated and weighed, and the ovarian index was calculated. Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining was used to observe follicular development and corpus luteum morphology in the ovaries. Serum levels of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) and estradiol (E2) were measured. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) content and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in ovarian tissue were determined. The GC apoptosis level was measured. Western blotting was used to detect protein expression levels of Beclin-1, LC3, P62, AKT, p-AKT, mTOR and p-mTOR in the ovaries. RESULTS: The results showed that CUR can improve body weight and ovarian index; promote follicular development and reduce follicular atresia; improve FSH, AMH and E2 levels; downregulate MDA levels and restore antioxidant enzyme activity; inhibit the autophagy level; activate the AKT/mTOR signaling pathway; and alleviate GC apoptosis. Lithium metal batteries (LMBs) are anticipated to meet the demand for high energy density, but the growth of lithium dendrites seriously hinders its practical application. Herein, we constructed a kind of composite separator (ZIF-90@PP) consisting of zeolite imidazole framework-90 (ZIF-90) and polypropylene (PP) to promote the uniform deposition of Li+ and inhibit the growth of lithium dendrites. The aldehyde groups interacting with TFSI- and the nitrogen-containing negative groups attracting Li+ of ZIF-90 can facilitate the dissociation of LiTFSI to release more Li+, thus alleviating the influence of space charge near the electrode surface and accelerating the transfer of Li+. Not only does the excellent electrolyte wettability of ZIF-90 enhance the electrolyte retention capacity of the separator, but the orderly nano-channels in ZIF-90 also restrict the free migration of anions and homogenize the distribution of Li+. Consequently, the functional separator achieves a long-term stable Li plating/stripping cycling for over 780 h at 2 mA cm-2. Moreover, an impressive average coulombic efficiency of 98.67% at 0.5 C after 300 cycles is realized by Li || LFP full cells based on ZIF-90@PP with a capacity retention rate of 71.22%. The high-rate and long cycling performance of the modified Li || LFP cells further demonstrates the advantages of the ZIF-90@PP composite separator.

BACKGROUND: Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a common pulmonary manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and is associated with a poor prognosis. However, the role of blood biomarkers in RA-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD) is ill-defined. We aim to evaluate the role of YKL-40 and Krebs von den Lungen-6 (KL-6) in the diagnosis and severity evaluation of RA-ILD. METHODS: 45 RA-non-ILD patients and 38 RA-ILD patients were included. The clinical data and the levels of YKL-40 and KL-6 were measured and collected for all patients. The risk factors for RA-ILD were analyzed and their correlation with relevant indicators and predictive value for RA-ILD was explored. RESULTS: The levels of YKL-40 and KL-6 in RA-ILD patients were higher than RA-non-ILD patients (p < .001). Both YKL-40 and KL-6 were correlated with the incidence of RA-ILD. The predictive power of combined KL-6 and YKL-40 for the presence of ILD was 0.789, with a sensitivity and specificity at 73.7% and 73.3%, respectively. In RA-ILD patients, both YKL-40 and KL-6 were positively correlated with the Scleroderma Lung Study (SLS) I score and negatively correlated with pulmonary function. CONCLUSIONS: KL-6 and YKL-40 might be a useful biomarker in the diagnosis and severity evaluation of RA-ILD.

We described an 82-year-old man who was taken to our emergency department after being found unconscious. His electrocardiogram (ECG) showed ST-segment elevation in leads V4-V6 and cardiac troponin I (cTnI) was abnormally elevated. In addition to ECG and cTnI changes, this patient was combined with unconsciousness, high fever, abnormal liver function, acute renal failure, and rhabdomyolysis. The initial diagnosis was heat stroke, so cooling measures were initiated immediately, but a concurrent myocardial infarction was suspected. Meanwhile, emergency coronary angiography was performed, but no severe coronary stenosis or thrombosis was found. We first evaluated quantitative flow ratio (QFR) and coronary angiography-derived index of microvascular resistance (ca-IMR) in patients with heat stroke. Ca-IMR was 260 mmHg*s/m in the left circumflex artery, indicating the presence of coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD). After several days of treatment, the patient recovered from multiple organ damage. Therefore, ECG and troponin results should be interpreted carefully in patients with high fever and coma during high temperature seasons.

Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a heart failure syndrome, and is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in diabetes. DCM is mainly characterized by ventricular dilation, myocardial hypertrophy, myocardial fibrosis and cardiac dysfunction. Clinical studies have found that insulin resistance is an independent risk factor for DCM. However, its specific mechanism of DCM remains unclear. 8-hydroxyguanine DNA glycosylase 1(OGG1)is involved in DNA base repair and the regulation of inflammatory genes. In this study, we show that OGG1 was associated with the occurrence of DCM. for the first time. The expression of OGG1 was increased in the heart tissue of DCM mice, and OGG1 deficiency aggravated the cardiac dysfunction of DCM mice. Metabolomics show that OGG1 deficiency resulted in obstruction of glycolytic pathway. At the molecular level, OGG1 regulated glucose uptake and insulin resistance by interacting with PPAR-γ in vitro. In order to explore the protective effect of exogenous OGG1 on DCM, OGG1 adeno-associated virus was injected into DCM mice through tail vein in the middle stage of the disease. We found that the overexpression of OGG1 could improve cardiac dysfunction of DCM mice, indicating that OGG1 had a certain therapeutic effect on DCM. These results demonstrate that OGG1 is a new molecular target for the treatment of DCM and has certain clinical significance.
