RESUMEN

This article discusses the robust predefined output containment (RPOC) control problem for heterogeneous nonlinear multiagent systems having multiple uncertain nonidentical leaders. In order to solve this problem, a new kind of distributed observer-based RPOC control framework is presented. First, for obtaining the information of nonidentical leaders' dynamics, including uncertain parameters in leaders' system matrices, output matrices, states, and outputs, four kinds of adaptive observers are constructed in a fully distributed form without any knowledge of the dynamics of nonidentical leaders, exactly. Second, on the basis of adaptive learning technique, a new RPOC controller is then developed by using the presented observers, where the adaptive observers can make up for the uncertain parameter in followers' dynamics, and the solutions of output regulation equations can be obtained adaptively by the developed adaptive strategy. Furthermore, with the help of the output regulation method and Lyapunov stability theory, the RPOC criteria for the considered system under unknown nonidentical leaders' dynamics are derived from the constructed controller. Finally, a simulation example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed RPOC controller.

The coupling of high-capacity cathodes and lithium metal anodes promises to be the next generation of high-energy-density batteries. However, the fast-structural degradations of the cathode and anode challenge their practical application. Herein, we synthesize an electrolyte additive, tris(2,2,3,3,3-pentafluoropropyl) borane (TPFPB), for ultra-stable lithium (Li) metal||Ni-rich layered oxide batteries. It can be preferentially adsorbed on the cathode surface to form a stable (B and F)-rich cathode electrolyte interface film, which greatly suppresses the electrolyte-cathode side reactions and improves the stability of the cathode. In addition, the electrophilicity of B atoms in TPFPB enhances the solubility of LiNO3 by 30 times in ester electrolyte to significantly improve the stability of the Li metal anode. Thus, the Li||Ni-rich layered oxide full batteries using TPFPB show high stability and an ultralong cycle life (up to 1500 cycles), which also present excellent performance even under high voltage (4.8 V), high areal mass loading (30 mg cm-2) and wide temperature range (-30∼60°C). The Li||LiNi0.9Co0.05Mn0.05O2 (NCM90) pouch cell using TPFPB with a capacity of 3.1 Ah reaches a high energy density of 420 Wh kg-1 at 0.1 C and presents outstanding cycling performance.

Scoparodane C (1), a diterpenoid with a rare 3,4-seco-3-nor-2,11-epoxy-ent-clerodane scaffold, was obtained from the aerial parts of Isodon scoparius, along with isocopariusines A-E (2-6), five ent-clerodanoids featuring a 5/6-fused ring system, and isocopariusines F-H (7-9), three common ent-clerodanoids. The structures of these previously undescribed compounds were established by a combination of spectroscopic analysis, X-ray diffraction, chemical derivatization, and quantum chemical calculation. Remarkably, isocopariusine B (3) showed strong resistance reversal activity against fluconazole-resistant Candida albicans.

Cytopathology, crucial in disease diagnosis, commonly uses microscopic slides to scrutinize cellular abnormalities. However, processing high volumes of samples often results in numerous negative diagnoses, consuming significant time and resources in healthcare. To address this challenge, a surface acoustic wave-enhanced multi-view acoustofluidic rotation cytometry (MARC) technique is developed for pre-cytopathological screening. MARC enhances cellular morphology analysis through comprehensive and multi-angle observations and amplifies subtle cell differences, particularly in the nuclear-to-cytoplasmic ratio, across various cell types and between cancerous and normal tissue cells. By prioritizing MARC-screened positive cases, this approach can potentially streamline traditional cytopathology, reducing the workload and resources spent on negative diagnoses. This significant advancement enhances overall diagnostic efficiency, offering a transformative vision for cytopathological screening.

BACKGROUND: For the treatment of coronoid process fractures, medial, lateral, anterior, anteromedial, and posterior approaches have been increasingly reported; however, there is no general consensus on the method of fixation of coronal fractures. Here, we present a highly-extensile minimally invasive approach to treat coronoid process fractures using a mini-plate that can achieve anatomic reduction, stable fixation, and anterior capsular repair. Further, the study aimed to determine the complication rate of the anterior minimally invasive approach and to evaluate functional and clinical patient-reported outcomes during follow-up. METHODS: Thirty-one patients diagnosed with coronoid fractures accompanied with a "terrible triad" or posteromedial rotational instability between April 2012 and October 2018 were included in the analysis. Anatomical reduction and mini-plate fixation of coronoid fractures were performed using an anterior minimally invasive approach. Patient-reported outcomes were evaluated using the Mayo Elbow Performance Index (MEPI) score, range of motion (ROM), and the visual analog score (VAS). The time of fracture healing and complications were recorded. RESULTS: The mean follow-up time was 26.7 months (range, 14-60 months). The average time to radiological union was 3.6 ± 1.3 months. During the follow-up period, the average elbow extension was 6.8 ± 2.9° while the average flexion was 129.6 ± 4.6°. According to Morrey's criteria, 26 (81%) elbows achieved a normal desired ROM. At the last follow-up, the mean MEPI score was 98 ± 3.3 points. There were no instances of elbow instability, elbow joint stiffness, subluxation or dislocation, infection, blood vessel complications, or nerve palsy. Overall, 10 elbows (31%) experienced heterotopic ossification. CONCLUSION: An anterior minimally invasive approach allows satisfactory fixation of coronoid fractures while reducing incision complications due to over-dissection of soft tissue injuries. In addition, this incision does not compromise the soft tissue stability of the elbow joint and allows the patient a more rapid return to rehabilitation exercises.

Background and Objective: The issue of falls poses a significant threat to the health of the elderly population. Although statins can cause myopathy, which implies that they may cause balance problems and increase the risk of falling, this has not been tested. Our objective was to assess whether the use of statins is linked to a higher risk of falls. Methods: A cross-sectional survey study and Mendelian randomization (MR) study were conducted to examine whether the use of statins was associated with an increased risk of falling and balance problems. The cross-sectional study included 2,656 participants from the US population (NHANES) who reported information on balance and falling problems in the past year and their use of statins. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used to investigate the association between statin use and the likelihood of falling or experiencing balance problems. The MR study identified five Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) that predict statin use across five ancestry groups: Admixed African or African, East Asian, European, Hispanic, and South Asian. Additionally, SNPs predicting the risk of falls were acquired from the UK Biobank population. A two-sample MR analysis was performed to examine whether genetically predicted statin use increased the risk of falls. Results: The use of statins was found to be associated with an increased likelihood of balance and falling problems (balance problem, OR 1.25, 95%CI 1.02 to 1.55; falling problem, OR 1.27, 95%CI 1.03-1.27). Subgroup analysis revealed that patients under the age of 65 were more susceptible to these issues when taking statins (balance problem, OR 3.42, 95%CI 1.40 to 9.30; falling problem, OR 5.58, 95%CI 2.04-15.40). The MR analysis indicated that the use of statins, as genetically proxied, resulted in an increased risk of falling problems (OR 1.21, 95% CI 1.1-1.33). Conclusion: Our study found an association between the use of statins and an increased risk of balance problems and falls in adults over 40 years old, and the MR study result suggested statin use increased risk of falls. The risk was higher in participants under 65 years old compared to those over 65 years old.

Black garlic has a variety of biological activities, but many consumers cannot accept it because of the garlic odor and the bitter taste. In this study, fermentation with yeast Wickerhamomyces anomalus was adopted to improve the flavor of black garlic juice. Although fermentation reduced antioxidant activities, the garlicky odor and bitter taste were weakened. Metabolomic analysis revealed 141 metabolites were significantly differentially regulated. The upregulated metabolites were mainly related to nucleotides, organic acids and their derivatives, while the downregulated metabolites were mainly related to amino acids, lipids and their derivatives. Flavoromics analysis revealed that 137 metabolites were significantly differentially regulated, particularly garlicky and pungent volatiles were significantly downregulated. Correlation analysis indicated that esters are most closely related to nonvolatile metabolites, and lipids degradation was significantly correlated with volatiles. The results indicated that W. anomalus fermentation is an effective strategy to improve the flavor of black garlic juice.

Water-soluble fluorescent chemosensors for lead ion are highly desirable in environmental detection and bioimagery. Based on a water-soluble pillar[5]arene WP5 and imidazolium terminal functionalized 2,2'-bibenzimidazole derivative BIHB, we report a host-guest charge transfer assembly BIHB-2WP5 for sensitive and selective detection of Pb2+ in pure aqueous media. As a result of its high electron-rich cavity, WP5 can bind electron-deficiency guest BIHB with various host/guest stoichiometry to easily tune the microtopography of assembly from nanoparticle to nanocube. In view of the good biocompatibility and sensitivity, the supramolecular assembly BIHB-2WP5 was used as a fluorescent probe for the detection of Pb2+ in living cells and a smartphone Pb2+ detection device was constructed for the in situ test.

The recent report of planar tetracoordinate hydrogen (ptH) in In4H+ is very intriguing in planar hypercoordinate chemistry. Our high-level CCSD(T) calculations revealed that the proposed D4h-symmetric ptH In4H+ is a first-order saddle point with an imaginary frequency in the out-of-plane mode of the hydrogen atom. In fact, at the CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pV5Z/aug-cc-pV5Z-PP level, the C4v isomer, with the H atom located 0.70 Å above the In4 plane, is 0.5 kcal/mol more stable than the D4h isomer. However, given the small perturbation from planarity and essentially barrierless C4v ↔ D4h ↔ C4v transition, the vibrationally averaged structure can still be considered as a planar. Extending our exploration to the InnTl4-nH+ (n = 0-3) systems, we found all these ptH structures, except for In2Tl2H+, to be the putative global minimum. The single σ-delocalized interaction between the central hydrogen atom and InnTl4-n ligand rings proves pivotal in establishing planarity and aromaticity and conferring substantial stability upon these rule-breaking ptH species.

A safe time-varying formation (TVF) control framework is proposed in this article for heterogeneous multiagent systems under the constraints of denial of service (DoS) attacks, noncooperative dynamic obstacles, and input saturation. The framework integrates both the cyber-layer and physical-layer components to address the challenges posed by these adverse conditions. In the cyber-layer, a distributed resilient observer is provided based on a control Lyapunov function (CLF)-quadratic program (QP). This observer estimates a reference exosystem, effectively decoupling heterogeneous dynamics from unsafe networks and optimizing the system resilience against DoS attacks. At the physical-layer, for the first time, a collision-free TVF controller is presented based on the CLF-exponential control barrier function-QP. The controller guarantees high-order heterogeneous agents' operation safety under noncooperative obstacles and input saturation. The effectiveness and advantages of the proposed algorithms are verified through the comparative simulations and experiments conducted on a physical system comprising unmanned aerial vehicles and unmanned ground vehicles.

BACKGROUND: The complexity of the immune microenvironment has an impact on the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC), one of the most prevalent malignancies worldwide. In this study, multi-omics and single-cell sequencing techniques were used to investigate the mechanism of action of circulating and infiltrating B cells in CRC. By revealing the heterogeneity and functional differences of B cells in cancer immunity, we aim to deepen our understanding of immune regulation and provide a scientific basis for the development of more effective cancer treatment strategies. AIM: To explore the role of circulating and infiltrating B cell subsets in the immune microenvironment of CRC, explore the potential driving mechanism of B cell development, analyze the interaction between B cells and other immune cells in the immune microenvironment and the functions of communication molecules, and search for possible regulatory pathways to promote the anti-tumor effects of B cells. METHODS: A total of 69 paracancer (normal), tumor and peripheral blood samples were collected from 23 patients with CRC from The Cancer Genome Atlas database (https://portal.gdc.cancer.gov/). After the immune cells were sorted by multicolor flow cytometry, the single cell transcriptome and B cell receptor group library were sequenced using the 10X Genomics platform, and the data were analyzed using bioinformatics tools such as Seurat. The differences in the number and function of B cell infiltration between tumor and normal tissue, the interaction between B cell subsets and T cells and myeloid cell subsets, and the transcription factor regulatory network of B cell subsets were explored and analyzed. RESULTS: Compared with normal tissue, the infiltrating number of CD20+B cell subsets in tumor tissue increased significantly. Among them, germinal center B cells (GCB) played the most prominent role, with positive clone expansion and heavy chain mutation level increasing, and the trend of differentiation into memory B cells increased. However, the number of plasma cells in the tumor microenvironment decreased significantly, and the plasma cells secreting IgA antibodies decreased most obviously. In addition, compared with the immune microenvironment of normal tissues, GCB cells in tumor tissues became more closely connected with other immune cells such as T cells, and communication molecules that positively regulate immune function were significantly enriched. CONCLUSION: The role of GCB in CRC tumor microenvironment is greatly enhanced, and its affinity to tumor antigen is enhanced by its significantly increased heavy chain mutation level. Meanwhile, GCB has enhanced its association with immune cells in the microenvironment, which plays a positive anti-tumor effect.

The impact of two priming exercise protocols using traditional (TS) or cluster-set (CS) arrangements on explosive performance 6 hours later were examined. Sixteen male collegiate athletes performed three testing sessions (one baseline without any prior exercise in the morning and two experimental sessions) separated by 72 hours. Participants completed two morning (9-11 am) priming protocols in a randomized order, either using a TS (no rest between repetitions) or CS (30 seconds of rest between repetitions) configuration. The protocols consisted of 3 sets × 3 repetitions of barbell back squat at 85% of 1 repetition maximum, with 4 minutes of rest between sets. In the afternoon (3-5 pm) of each trial, after a 6-hour rest period, a physical test battery was conducted that replicated baseline testing, including countermovement jump, 20-meter straight-line sprint, and T-test abilities. Across both conditions, participants exhibited increased countermovement jump height, 20-meter sprint time and T-test time compared to baseline (P < 0.05). Improvements in countermovement jump height (+4.4 ± 5.4%; P = 0.008) and 20-meter sprint time (+1.3 ± 1.7%; P = 0.022), but not T-test time (+1.1 ± 3.3%; P = 0.585), were significantly greater for CS than TS. In conclusion, compared to a traditional set arrangement, a morning-based priming protocol using a cluster-set configuration led to superior explosive performance benefits in the afternoon.

BACKGROUND: Clinically, most patients with lung cancer (LC) die from tumor spread and metastasis. Specific metastasis-related molecules can provide reference for clinical prediction of efficacy, evaluation of prognosis, and search for the best treatment plan. Troponin T1 (TNNT1) is highly expressed in various cancer tissues, which affects malignant behavior of tumor cells and is related to patients' survival and prognosis. However, the role and molecular mechanism of TNNT1 in LC invasion and metastasis have not yet been investigated. METHODS: Gene expression profiling interactive analysis (GEPIA) online analysis was used to analyze TNNT1 expression in LC tissues. Quantitative real-time-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) or western blot were performed to measure TNNT1 or epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related and Wnt/ß-catenin pathway-related protein expression in LC cells. After TNNT1 knockdown, cell scratch healing and transwell assays were introduced to assess cell migration and invasion, respectively. RESULTS: TNNT1 expression in LC tissues and cells was increased. TNNT1 knockdown notably impaired LC cell migration, invasion and EMT. TNNT1 knockdown inhibited Wnt/ß-catenin pathway of LC cells. Lithium chloride (LiCl) addition partially restored the inhibition of TNNT1 knockdown on migration, invasion, EMT and Wnt/ß-catenin of LC cells. CONCLUSION: TNNT1 knockdown attenuated LC migration, invasion and EMT, possibly through Wnt/ß-catenin signaling.

Microplastics (MPs) represent a substantial and emerging class of pollutants distributed widely in various environments, sparking growing concerns about their environmental impact. In environmental systems, dissolved organic matter (DOM) is crucial in shaping the physical, chemical, and biological processes of pollutants while significantly contributing to the global carbon budget. Recent findings have revealed that microplastic-derived dissolved organic matter (MP-DOM) constitutes approximately 10 % of the DOM present on the ocean surface, drawing considerable attention. Hence, this study's primary objective is to explore, the generation, characterization, and environmental behaviors of MP-DOM. The formation and characteristics of MP-DOM are profoundly influenced by leaching conditions and types of MPs. This review delves into the mechanisms of the generation of MP-DOM and provides an overview of a wide array of analytical techniques, including ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and mass spectroscopy, used to assess the MP-DOM characteristics. Furthermore, this review investigates the environmental behaviors of MP-DOM, including its impacts on organisms, photochemical processes, the formation of disinfection by-products (DBPs), adsorption behavior, and its interaction with natural DOM. Finally, the review outlines research challenges, perspectives for future MP-DOM research, and the associated environmental implications.

A multifunctional COF@HOF (ETTA-DFP@TCBP-HOF) composite is prepared by adding red-fluorescent ETTA-DFP COF to the blue-fluorescent TCBP-HOF preparation system through molecular hydrogen bonding or π - π stacking interactions in situ one-pot synthesis. ETTA-DFP@TCBP-HOF is a multifunctional material for the quantitative detection and simultaneous adsorption of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) and metamitron (MET) in aqueous solution. As a dual-emission fluorescent sensor, the ETTA-DFP@TCBP-HOF has both fluorescence of TCBP-HOF at 474 nm and ETTA-DFP COF at 592 nm, which shows a ratiometric response to 4-NP and MET with high selectivity, good sensitivity, good anti-interference performance and fast response. As a adsorbent, ETTA-DFP@TCBP-HOF displays rapid adsorption kinetics, and acceptable adsorption capacity for 4-NP and MET. In conclusion, this work constructs a novel multifunctional hybrid material with dual-emission center of HOF and COF, which can not only be used as a ratiometric fluorescent probe for detection, but also for removal of hazardous pollutants, suggesting a new strategy for environmental remediation and human health.

Genes involved in drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) are named ADME genes. However, the comprehensive role of ADME genes in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) remains unclear. Using the clinical and gene expression data of KIRC patients downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), ArrayExpress, and the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases, we cluster patients into two patterns, and the population with a relatively poor prognosis demonstrated higher level of immunosuppressive cell infiltration and higher proportion of glycolytic subtypes. Then, 17 ADME genes combination identified through the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator algorithm (LASSO, 1000 times) was utilized to calculate the ADME score. The ADME score was found to be an independent predictor of prognosis in KIRC and to be tightly associated with the infiltration level of immune cells, metabolic properties, tumor-related signaling pathways, genetic variation, and responses to chemotherapeutics. Our work revealed the characteristics of ADME in KIRC. Assessing the ADME profiles of individual patients can deepen our comprehension of tumor microenvironment (TME) features in KIRC and can aid in developing more personalized and effective therapeutic strategies.

The potential energy curves for dihalogens (F2, Cl2, and Br2) are calculated with the i-DMFT method proposed recently [Wang and Baerends, Phys. Rev. Lett. 128, 013001]. All electrons are correlated in a set of self-consistent-field eigenvalue equations, with the orbital occupation numbers obeying the Fermi-Dirac distribution. The only input is the dissociation energies of the molecules, which are usually available from an experimental database. The quality of the computed potential energy curve is examined by extracting spectroscopic parameters and rotation-vibration energy levels, which are compared with experiment data and other theoretical calculations.
