RESUMEN

The terminology in radiological technology is crucial, encompassing a broad range of principles from radiation to medical imaging, and involving various specialists. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of automatic synonym detection considering the characteristics of the Japanese language by Word2vec and fastText in the radiological technology field for the terminology elaboration. We collected around 340 thousand abstracts in Japanese. First, preprocessing of the abstract data was performed. Then, training models were created with Word2vec and fastText with different architectures: continuous bag-of-words (CBOW) and skip-gram, and vector sizes. Baseline synonym sets were curated by two experts, utilizing terminology resources specific to radiological technology. A term in the dataset input into the generated models, and the top-10 synonym candidates which had high cosine similarities were obtained. Subsequently, precision, recall, F1-score, and accuracy for each model were calculated. The fastText model with CBOW at 300 dimensions was most precise in synonym detection, excelling in cases with shared n-grams. Conversely, fastText with skip-gram and Word2vec were favored for synonyms without common n-grams. In radiological technology, where n-grams are prevalent, fastText with CBOW proved advantageous, while in informatics, characterized by abbreviations and transliterations, Word2vec with CBOW was more effective.

RESUMEN

The work of radiological technologists is changing and more complicated because of the development of medical technology and implementation of information technology (IT). Although the cases of incident and accident have been reported, they have not been comprehensively analyzed in the workflow for radiotherapy. In this study, we visualized the workflow of radiological technologists in radiotherapy and revealed the causes of incidents and accidents. The work process was visualized by drawing workflow map. The structuring of problem was performed with interpretive structural modeling (ISM) method based on graph theory by analyzing of work categorized by safety management. Our results may be able to clarify the work of radiological technologists leads to the reduction of incidents and accidents in radiation therapy.

RESUMEN

The present work describes that we try to construct a system that collects dose information that performed CT examination from multiple facilities and unified management. The results of analysis are compared with other National diagnostic reference level (DRL), and the results are fed back to each facility and the cause of the abnormal value is investigated for dose optimization. Medical information collected 139 144 tests from 33 CT devices in 13 facilities. Although the DRL of this study is lower than that of Japan DRL, it was higher than the DRL of each country. When collecting all the examination, it is thought that the variation of the dose due to the error other than the intended imaging site is large. In future, we should continue to collect information in order to DRL renewal and we also think that it is desirable to collect information on physique and detailed scan region as well.

RESUMEN

This report was aimed at structuring the design of architectures and studying performance measurement of a parallel computing environment using a Monte Carlo simulation for particle therapy using a high performance computing (HPC) instance within a public cloud-computing infrastructure. Performance measurements showed an approximately 28 times faster speed than seen with single-thread architecture, combined with improved stability. A study of methods of optimizing the system operations also indicated lower cost.

RESUMEN

It has been noted that the downtime of medical informatics systems is often long. Many systems encounter downtimes of hours or even days, which can have a critical effect on daily operations. Such systems remain especially weak in the areas of database and medical imaging data. The scheme design shows the three-layer architecture of the system: application, database, and storage layers. The application layer uses the DICOM protocol (Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine) and HTTP (Hyper Text Transport Protocol) with AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript+XML). The database is designed to decentralize in parallel using cluster technology. Consequently, restoration of the database can be done not only with ease but also with improved retrieval speed. In the storage layer, a network RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) system, it is possible to construct exabyte-scale parallel file systems that exploit storage spread. Development and evaluation of the test-bed has been successful in medical information data backup and recovery in a network environment. This paper presents a schematic design of the new medical informatics system that can be accommodated from a recovery and the dynamic Web application for medical imaging distribution using AJAX.

RESUMEN

We have developed a system to assist in patient positioning for radiation therapy that includes an automated registration process between the reference image and target volume data before irradiation. The system uses the cross-correlation function between images for the automatic positioning processing algorithm. Evaluation of the system showed good results in providing highly accurate registration. Therefore, the system is suitable for use in clinical study. In addition, evaluation of clinical data of the prostate using the system revealed displacement of the internal organs.

RESUMEN

We developed management system for medical information such as radiation therapy information and associated medical image information. Features of the system are to browse medical information with web browser through network. The system was constructed by open source software, which made proprietary client software unnecessary. Clinical studies suggested that the system proved useful in terms of paperless managemet. In addition, useful features are visibility and portability to browse medical information using PDA (Personal Data Assistant) via wireless LAN (Local Area Network). We also proposed a new approach which can contribute to remote areas by providing medical information using the Internet.

RESUMEN

The author constructed a medical image network system using open source software that took security into consideration. This system was enabled for search and browse with a WWW browser, and images were stored in a DICOM server. In order to realize this function, software was developed to fill in the gap between the DICOM protocol and HTTP using PHP language. The transmission speed was evaluated by the difference in protocols between DICOM and HTTP. Furthermore, an attempt was made to evaluate the convenience of medical image access with a personal information terminal via the Internet through the high-speed mobile communication terminal. Results suggested the feasibility of remote diagnosis and application to emergency care.

RESUMEN

Exact reproducibility of patient positioning is a critical issue for proton therapy because of the sharp dose distribution. We constructed the first proton therapy system with a common couch for both CT and proton irradiation. In this paper, we report a brief overview of the instruments and the accuracy of mechanical positioning reproducibility.
