Background: Pulmonary artery (PA) strain is associated with structural and functional alterations of the vessel and is an independent predictor of cardiovascular events. The relationship of PA strain to metabolomics in participants without cardiovascular disease is unknown. Methods: In the current study, community-based older adults, without known cardiovascular disease, underwent simultaneous cine cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging, clinical examination, and serum sampling. PA global longitudinal strain (GLS) analysis was performed by tracking the change in distance from the PA bifurcation to the pulmonary annular centroid, using standard cine CMR images. Circulating metabolites were measured by cross-sectional targeted metabolomics analysis. Results: Among n = 170 adults (mean age 71 ± 6.3 years old; 79 women), mean values of PA GLS were 16.2 ± 4.4%. PA GLS was significantly associated with age (ß = -0.13, P = 0.017), heart rate (ß = -0.08, P = 0.001), dyslipidemia (ß = -2.37, P = 0.005), and cardiovascular risk factors (ß = -2.49, P = 0.001). Alanine (ß = -0.007, P = 0.01) and proline (ß = -0.0009, P = 0.042) were significantly associated with PA GLS after adjustment for clinical risk factors. Medium and long-chain acylcarnitines were significantly associated with PA GLS (C12, P = 0.027; C12-OH/C10-DC, P = 0.018; C14:2, P = 0.036; C14:1, P = 0.006; C14, P = 0.006; C14-OH/C12-DC, P = 0.027; C16:3, P = 0.019; C16:2, P = 0.006; C16:1, P = 0.001; C16:2-OH, P = 0.016; C16:1-OH/C14:1-DC, P = 0.028; C18:1-OH/C16:1-DC, P = 0.032). Conclusion: By conventional CMR, PA GLS was associated with aging and vascular risk factors among a contemporary cohort of older adults. Metabolic pathways involved in PA stiffness may include gluconeogenesis, collagen synthesis, and fatty acid oxidation.

Aging-induced aortic stiffness has been associated with altered fatty acid metabolism. We studied aortic stiffness using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR)-assessed ventriculo-arterial coupling (VAC) and novel aortic (AO) global longitudinal strain (GLS) combined with targeted metabolomic profiling. Among community older adults without cardiovascular disease, VAC was calculated as aortic pulse wave velocity (PWV), a marker of arterial stiffness, divided by left ventricular (LV) GLS. AOGLS was the maximum absolute strain measured by tracking the phasic distance between brachiocephalic artery origin and aortic annulus. In 194 subjects (71 ± 8.6 years; 88 women), AOGLS (mean 5.6 ± 2.1%) was associated with PWV (R = -0.3644, p < 0.0001), LVGLS (R = 0.2756, p = 0.0001) and VAC (R = -0.3742, p <0.0001). Stiff aorta denoted by low AOGLS <4.26% (25th percentile) was associated with age (OR 1.13, 95% CI 1.04-1.24, p = 0.007), body mass index (OR 1.12, 95% CI 1.01-1.25, p = 0.03), heart rate (OR 1.04, 95% CI 1.01-1.06, p = 0.011) and metabolites of medium-chain fatty acid oxidation: C8 (OR 1.005, p = 0.026), C10 (OR 1.003, p = 0.036), C12 (OR 1.013, p = 0.028), C12:2-OH/C10:2-DC (OR 1.084, p = 0.032) and C16-OH (OR 0.82, p = 0.006). VAC was associated with changes in long-chain hydroxyl and dicarboxyl carnitines. Multivariable models that included acyl-carnitine metabolites, but not amino acids, significantly increased the discrimination over clinical risk factors for prediction of AOGLS (AUC [area-under-curve] 0.73 to 0.81, p = 0.037) and VAC (AUC 0.78 to 0.87, p = 0.0044). Low AO GLS and high VAC were associated with altered medium-chain and long-chain fatty acid oxidation, respectively, which may identify early metabolic perturbations in aging-associated aortic stiffening. Cotton plays a significant role in people's lives, and cottonseeds serve as a vital assurance for successful cotton cultivation and production. Premium-quality cottonseeds can significantly enhance the germination rate of cottonseeds, resulting in increased cotton yields. The vitality of cottonseeds is a crucial metric that reflects the quality of the seeds. However, currently, the industry lacks a non-destructive method to directly assess cottonseed vitality without compromising the integrity of the seeds. To address this challenge, this study employed a hyperspectral imaging acquisition system to gather hyperspectral data on cottonseeds. This system enables the simultaneous collection of hyperspectral data from 25 cottonseeds. This study extracted spectral and image information from the hyperspectral data of cottonseeds to predict their vitality. SG, SNV, and MSC methods were utilized to preprocess the spectral data of cottonseeds. Following this preprocessing step, feature wavelength points of the cottonseeds were extracted using SPA and CARS algorithms. Subsequently, GLCM was employed to extract texture features from images corresponding to these feature wavelength points, including attributes such as Contrast, Correlation, Energy, and Entropy. Finally, the vitality of cottonseeds was predicted using PLSR, SVR, and a self-built 1D-CNN model. For spectral data analysis, the 1D-CNN model constructed after MSC+CARS preprocessing demonstrated the highest performance, achieving a test set correlation coefficient of 0.9214 and an RMSE of 0.7017. For image data analysis, the 1D-CNN model constructed after SG+CARS preprocessing outperformed the others, yielding a test set correlation coefficient of 0.8032 and an RMSE of 0.9683. In the case of fused spectral and image data, the 1D-CNN model built after SG+SPA preprocessing displayed the best performance, attaining a test set correlation coefficient of 0.9427 and an RMSE of 0.6872. These findings highlight the effectiveness of the 1D-CNN model and the fusion of spectral and image features for cottonseed vitality prediction. This research contributes significantly to the development of automated detection devices for assessing cottonseed vitality.

The transformation from LiNi1-x-yCoxMnyO2 (NCM) cathodes to Co-free LiNi1-xMnxO2 (NM) cathodes is considered as an effective solution for the electric vehicle (EV) industry to deal with the high cost of cobalt. However, severe Li/Ni disorder, structural instability and poor cycling stability are the main obstacles to their practical application. Al doping has proven to be an effective method to improve the electrochemical performance of Ni-rich NCMs. However, with regard to Ni-rich Co-free NM cathodes, the influence of Al doping on the structural stability and electrochemical performance of NM cathodes is still not clear. In this work, Al doped LiNi0.8Mn0.2-xAlxO2 cathodes are designed and their structural stability and electrochemical performance are investigated by a combination of XRD, SEM, TEM, CV, GITT, cycling testing and EIS techniques. As a result, Al doping can effectively inhibit Li/Ni disorder and improve the structural and thermal stability. In detail, 5% is the optimal doping amount for LiNi0.8Mn0.2O2 cathodes to obtain the best electrochemical performance and the LiNi0.8Mn0.15Al0.05O2 cathode shows an excellent capacity retention of 91.97% after 300 cycles at 3.0-4.3 V. This work provides an effective strategy for the development of Ni-rich Co-free NM cathodes.

Memristors based on two-dimensional (2D) materials are a rapidly growing research area due to their potential in energy-efficient in-memory processing and neuromorphic computing. However, the data retention of these emerging memristors remains sparsely investigated, despite its crucial importance to device performance and reliability. In this study, we employ kinetic Monte-Carlo simulations to investigate the data retention of a 2D planar memristor. The operation of the memristor depends on field-driven on defect migration, while thermal diffusion gradually evens the defect distribution, leading to the degradation of the high resistance state (HRS) and diminishing the ON/OFF ratio. Notably, we examine the resilience of devices based on single crystals of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) in harsh environments. Specifically, our simulations show that MoS2-based devices have negligible degradation after 10 years of thermal annealing at 400 K. Furthermore, the variability in data retention lifetime across different temperatures is less than 22%, indicating a relatively consistent performance over a range of thermal conditions. We also demonstrate that device miniaturization does not compromise data retention lifetime. Moreover, employing materials with higher activation energy for defect migration can significantly enhance data retention at the cost of increased switching voltage. These findings shed light on the behavior of 2D memristors and pave the way for their optimization in practical applications.

Background: Since the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread throughout the world, many studies on innate immunity in COVID-19 have been published, and great progress has been achieved, while bibliometric analysis on hotspots and research trends in this field remains lacking. Methods: On 17 November 2022, articles and reviews on innate immunity in COVID-19 were recruited from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database after papers irrelevant to COVID-19 were further excluded. The number of annual publications and the average citations per paper were analyzed by Microsoft Excel. Bibliometric analysis and visualization of the most prolific contributors and hotspots in the field were performed by VOSviewer and CiteSpace software. Results: There were 1,280 publications that met the search strategy on innate immunity in COVID-19 and were published from 1 January 2020 to 31 October 2022. Nine hundred thirteen articles and reviews were included in the final analysis. The USA had the highest number of publications (Np) at 276 and number of citations without self-citations (Nc) at 7,085, as well as an H-index of 42, which contributed 30.23% of the total publications, followed by China (Np: 135, Nc: 4,798, and H-index: 23) with 14.79% contribution. Regarding Np for authors, Netea, Mihai G. (Np: 7) from the Netherlands was the most productive author, followed by Joosten, Leo A. B. (Np: 6) and Lu, Kuo-Cheng (Np: 6). The Udice French Research Universities had the most publications (Np: 31, Nc: 2,071, H-index: 13), with an average citation number (ACN) at 67. The journal Frontiers in Immunology possessed the most publications (Np: 89, Nc: 1,097, ACN: 12.52). "Evasion" (strength 1.76, 2021-2022), "neutralizing antibody" (strength 1.76, 2021-2022), "messenger RNA" (strength 1.76, 2021-2022), "mitochondrial DNA" (strength 1.51, 2021-2022), "respiratory infection" (strength 1.51, 2021-2022), and "toll-like receptors" (strength 1.51, 2021-2022) were the emerging keywords in this field. Conclusion: The study on innate immunity in COVID-19 is a hot topic. The USA was the most productive and influential country in this field, followed by China. The journal with the most publications was Frontiers in Immunology. "Messenger RNA," "mitochondrial DNA," and "toll-like receptors" are the current hotspots and potential targets in future research.

Although gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) represent a promising candidate to address the individual limitations of liquid and solid electrolytes, their extensive development is still hindered due to the veiled Li-ion conduction mechanism. Herein, the related mechanism in GPEs is extensively studied by developing an in situ polymerized GPE comprising fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC) solvent and carbonate ester segments (F-GPE). Practically, although with high dielectric constant, FEC fails to effectively transport Li ions when acting as the sole solvent. By sharp contrast, F-GPE demonstrates superior electrochemical performances, and the related Li-ion transfer mechanism is investigated using molecular dynamics simulations and 7 Li/6 Li solid-state nNMR spectroscopy. The polymer segments are extended with the swelling of FEC, then an electron-delocalization interface layer is generated between abundant electron-rich groups of FEC and the polymer ingredients, which works as an electron-rich "Milky Way" and facilitates the rapid transfer of Li ions by lowering the diffusion barrier dramatically, resulting in a high conductivity of 2.47 × 10-4  S cm-1 and a small polarization of about 20 mV for Li//Li symmetric cell after 8000 h. Remarkably, FEC provides high flame-retardancy and makes F-GPE remains stable under ignition and puncture tests.

Flexible solid-state polymer electrolytes (SPEs) enable intimate contact with the electrode and reduce the interfacial impedance for all-solid-state lithium batteries (ASSLBs). However, the low ionic conductivity and poor mechanical strength restrict the development of SPEs. In this work, the chloride superionic conductor Li2ZrCl6 (LZC) is innovatively introduced into the poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)-based SPE to address these issues since LZC is crucial for improving the ionic conductivity and enhancing the mechanical strength. The as-prepared electrolyte provides a high ionic conductivity of 5.98 × 10-4 S cm-1 at 60 °C and a high Li-ion transference number of 0.44. More importantly, the interaction between LZC and PEO is investigated using FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy, which is conducive to inhibiting the decomposition of PEO and beneficial to the uniform deposition of Li ions. Therefore, a minor polarization voltage of 30 mV is exhibited for the Li||Li cell after cycling for 1000 h. The LiFePO4||Li ASSLB with 1% LZC-added composite electrolyte (CPE-1% LZC) demonstrates excellent cycling performance with a capacity of 145.4 mA h g-1 after 400 cycles at 0.5 C. This work combines the advantages of chloride and polymer electrolytes, exhibiting great potential in the next generation of all-solid-state lithium metal batteries.

Memristors are prominent passive circuit elements with promising futures for energy-efficient in-memory processing and revolutionary neuromorphic computation. State-of-the-art memristors based on two-dimensional (2D) materials exhibit enhanced tunability, scalability and electrical reliability. However, the fundamental of the switching is yet to be clarified before they can meet industrial standards in terms of endurance, variability, resistance ratio, and scalability. This new physical simulator based on the kinetic Monte Carlo (kMC) algorithm reproduces the defect migration process in 2D materials and sheds light on the operation of 2D memristors. The present work employs the simulator to study a two-dimensional 2H-MoS2 planar resistive switching (RS) device with an asymmetric defect concentration introduced by ion irradiation. The simulations unveil the non-filamentary RS process and propose routes to optimize the device's performance. For instance, the resistance ratio can be increased by 53% by controlling the concentration and distribution of defects, while the variability can be reduced by 55% by increasing 5-fold the device size from 10 to 50 nm. Our simulator also explains the trade-offs between the resistance ratio and variability, resistance ratio and scalability, and variability and scalability. Overall, the simulator may enable an understanding and optimization of devices to expedite cutting-edge applications.

BACKGROUND: Patients at high cardiovascular risk are closely associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation (AF). Whether proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 monoclonal antibodies (PCSK9 mAbs) can attenuate AF progression remains unknown. METHODS: To compare PCSK9 mAbs with placebo or ezetimibe to explore the effect of PCSK9 mAbs therapy on the end-point of incidence of AF, we searched PubMed, Embase, and ClinicalTrials.gov for articles. We used Mantel-Haenszel risk ratio (RR) with corresponding 95% CI for the categorical data, including the incidence of AF and predefined other outcomes of interest. RESULTS: We included 21 articles consisting of 26 randomized controlled trials with a total of 95,635 participants. Quantitative synthesis revealed that PCSK9 mAbs significantly reduce the incidence of AF events (RR 0.84; 95% CI 0.72-0.98; p = 0.03), whereas no obvious differences were seen between the PCSK9 mAbs group and the ezetimibe group (RR 0.90; 95% CI 0.29-2.76; p = 0.85). PCSK9 mAbs also markedly decreased the incidence of cerebrovascular events (RR 0.75; 95% CI 0.66-0.85; p < 0.0001) and new-onset hypertension (RR 0.92; 95% CI 0.87-0.97; p = 0.003), but not the risk of cardiovascular death (RR 0.95; 95% CI 0.85-1.07; p = 0.40) and new-onset diabetes mellitus (RR 1.01; 95% CI 0.95-1.08; p = 0.67). CONCLUSIONS: Overall, the PCSK9 mAbs therapy reduced AF and presented certain cardiovascular benefits in patients at high cardiovascular risk. Further big-scale and long follow-up duration randomized controlled trials that compare PCSK9 mAbs with ezetimibe are required to evaluate the effect of PCSK9 mAbs versus ezetimibe on AF.

ABSTRACT: Only a few meta-analyses evaluated the effect of finerenone on cardiovascular events in type 2 diabetes mellitus with chronic kidney disease. The main aim of this meta-analysis was to gain more reliable assessments of the efficacy and safety of finerenone for prevention of cardiovascular events in diabetic kidney disease. We searched for finerenone in the treatment of diabetic kidney disease from database (PubMed, Embase, and ClinicalTrials.gov ) until December 30, 2021. Relative risks (RRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) calculated by the Mantel-Haenszel random-effects model were used as summary statistics for the categorical data. We included 4 studies that met the inclusion criteria with 13,943 participants. The finerenone group demonstrated a great benefit in reducing the incidence of major adverse cardiac events (RR: 0.88; 95% CI 0.80-0.96; P = 0.003), all-cause mortality (RR: 0.89; 95% CI 0.80-0.99; P = 0.04), myocardial infarction (RR: 0.79; 95% CI 0.67-0.92; P = 0.003), and new-onset hypertension (RR: 0.71; 95% CI 0.62-0.81; P < 0.00001). No difference was found in adverse events between the finerenone and placebo groups (RR: 1.00; 95% CI [0.98-1.01], P = 0.59), whereas a higher risk of hyperkalemia was observed in the finerenone group than in the placebo group (RR = 2.04, 95% CI 1.80-2.32; P < 0.00001). Besides, cerebrovascular events and new-onset atrial fibrillation did not increase in patients taking finerenone. Overall, finerenone treatment showed a great benefit of reducing the risk of major adverse cardiac events, all-cause mortality, myocardial infarction, and new-onset hypertension events in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease.

Aims: The efficacy and safety of sacubitril/valsartan for patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) are controversial. Hence, the primary objective of the study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of sacubitril/valsartan treatment for patients with HFpEF. Methods and results: We used the PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases to search for randomized controlled trials of sacubitril-valsartan in patients with HFpEF. Three studies, involving a total of 7,663 patients, were eligible for inclusion. Sacubitril-valsartan reduced the risk of hospitalization for heart failure (HF) [odds ratio (OR): 0.78; 95% CI: 0.70-0.88; p < 0.0001] and the incidence of worsening renal function [risk ratio (RR): 0.79, p = 0.002] among patients with HFpEF in the three trials, but there was no significant reduction in all-cause mortality (0.99, 95% CI: 0.84-1.15; p = 0.86) or cardiovascular mortality (0.95, 95% CI: 0.78-1.15; p = 0.16). Moreover, sacubitril/valsartan was associated with an increased risk of symptomatic hypotension (RR: 1.44; p < 0.00001) and angioedema (RR: 2.66; p < 0.04); there was no difference for decreasing the incidence of hyperkalemia (RR: 0.89; p = 0.11). Conclusion: Compared with valsartan or individualized medical therapy (IMT), sacubitril/valsartan significantly decreased the risk of hospitalization for HF and reduced the incidence of renal dysfunction.

Poly(vinylidenefluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP) is one of the most promising candidate electrolyte matrices for high energy batteries. However, the spherical skeleton structure obtained through the conventional method fails to build continuous Li ion transmission channels due to the slow volatilization of high boiling solvent, leading to inferior cycling performance, especially in a Ni-rich system. Herein, a novel strategy is presented to enrich the Li ion transfer paths and improve the Li ion migration kinetics. The tactic is to prepare cross-linked segments through the PVDF-HFP matrix by adopting free radical polymerization and Li salt induced ring-opening polymerization. Most significantly, the visualization of the structure of as-prepared electrolyte is innovatively realized with the combination of polarization microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive spectroscopy, PVDF-HFP, and cross-linked network form interconnected microstructures. Therefore, poly(glycidyl methacrylate and acrylonitrile)@poly(vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene) electrolyte presents a high ionic conductivity (1.04 mS cm-1 at 30 °C) and a stable voltage profile for a Li/Li cell after 1200 h. After assembly with a LiNi0.8 Co0.15 Al0.05 O2 cathode, a high discharge specific capacity of 190.3 mAh g-1 is delivered, and the capacity retention reaches 88.2% after 100 cycles. This work provides a promising method for designing high-performance polymer electrolytes for lithium metal batteries.

The silicon oxide/graphite (SiO/C) composite anode represents one of the promising candidates for next generation Li-ion batteries over 400 Wh kg-1 . However, the rapid capacity decay and potential safety risks at low temperature restrict their widely practical applications. Herein, the fabrication of sulfide-rich solid electrolyte interface (SEI) layer on surface of SiO/C anode to boost the reversible Li-storage performance at low temperature is reported. Different from the traditional SEI layer, the present modification layer is composed of inorganic-organic hybrid components with three continuous layers as disclosed by time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS). The result shows that ROSO2 Li, ROCO2 Li, and LiF uniformly distribute over different layers. When coupled with LiNi0.8 Co0.1 Mn0.1 O2 cathode, the capacity retention achieves 73% at -20 °C. The first principle calculations demonstrate that the gradient adsorption of sulfide-rich surface layer and traditional intermediate layer can promote the desolvation of Li+ at low temperature. Meanwhile, the inner LiF-rich layer with rapid ionic diffusion capability can inhibit dendrite growth. These results offer new perspective of developing advanced SiO/C anode and low-temperature Li-ion batteries.

ABSTRACT: To investigate the efficacy and safety of cilostazol for atherosclerosis. PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials from inception to May 29, 2021, were searched for randomized clinical trials (RCTs). Ten trials with 1577 patients were included. Treatment with cilostazol significantly reduced carotid intima-media thickness [mean difference (MD), -0.12 mm; 95% confidence interval (CI), -0.17 to -0.06]. According to the difference in intervening measures, the cilostazol group was superior to the control group in inhibiting the progression of carotid intima-media thickness: cilostazol versus placebo (MD, -0.04 mm; 95% CI, -0.06 to -0.02; P < 0.00001), cilostazol versus no antiplatelet drug (MD, -0.14 mm; 95% CI, -0.26 to -0.03; P = 0.02), cilostazol versus aspirin (MD, -0.17 mm; 95% CI, -0.32 to -0.02; P = 0.02), cilostazol + aspirin versus aspirin (MD, -0.08 mm; 95% CI, -0.14 to -0.02; P = 0.007), cilostazol + aspirin versus clopidogrel + aspirin (MD, -0.07 mm; 95% CI, -0.14 to -0.00; P = 0.04), and cilostazol + clopidogrel + aspirin versus clopidogrel + aspirin (MD, -0.16 mm; 95% CI, -0.30 to -0.02; P = 0.03). Cilostazol treatment considerably decreased triglyceride (MD, -20.18 mg/dL; 95% CI, -39.03 to -1.34) and improved high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (MD, 4.35 mg/dL; 95% CI, 2.61-6.10). Cilostazol therapy significantly increased the risk of adverse events of headache (odds ratio, 12.91; 95% CI 5.33-31.29). Our research has revealed that cilostazol has potent antiatherosclerotic effects and can reverse atherosclerosis progress even in high-risk patients, such as those with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and does not increase the risk of bleeding.

PURPOSE: Colchicine is an ancient anti-inflammatory drug. In recent years, an increasing number of studies have shown that colchicine improves the prognosis of patients with coronary artery disease (CAD), while other studies have reported the opposite. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relative efficacy and safety of colchicine in treating CAD. METHODS: PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and ClinicalTrials.gov were searched from inception to 20 October 2020 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing colchicine and placebo in patients with CAD. The primary outcomes were the primary composite outcomes of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction (MI), ischemic stroke, or ischemia-driven coronary revascularization after colchicine administration. The secondary outcomes were cardiovascular death, death from any cause, noncardiac death, MI, ischemic stroke, coronary revascularization, gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms, and the different effects of colchicine in acute and chronic CAD. We assessed the pooled odds ratio (OR) of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality for CAD in fixed-effects models, the pooled risk ratio (RR) of the primary composite outcomes, MI, ischemic stroke, and ischemia-driven coronary revascularization in fixed-effects models and the pooled RR of GI symptoms in random-effects models. The Cochrane risk of bias tool was used to assess the risk of bias in the included RCTs. FINDINGS: Eleven of the 894 identified studies (n = 12,899 patients) were included (6501 subjects in the colchicine group; 6389 subjects in the control group). The colchicine group had significantly lower pooled RRs of the primary composite outcomes (0.73, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.64-0.84, P < 0.0001), MI (0.77, 95% CI 0.64-0.92, P = 0.004), ischemic stroke (0.47, 95% CI 0.30-0.76, P = 0.002), and ischemia-driven coronary revascularization (0.77, 95% CI 0.66-0.89, P = 0.0007), while the pooled RR of adverse GI events (2.15 95% CI 1.40-3.31, P = 0.0005) was significantly higher. Colchicine had a lower pooled RR of ischemic stroke (0.28, 95% CI 0.12-0.65, P = 0.003) for patients with acute compared with chronic CAD. IMPLICATIONS: Colchicine treatment significantly decreased the risk of primary cardiovascular composite outcomes, MI, ischemic stroke, and ischemia-driven coronary revascularization in CAD patients but increased adverse GI events. There was no significant difference in all-cause mortality, cardiovascular mortality, and non-cardiovascular death between the colchicine and control groups. Colchicine performs better in acute CAD patients with ischemic stroke than chronic CAD patients. Colchicine might be a new treatment for patients with CAD.

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is the one of the main cause of death worldwide. Exosomes carry important information about intercellular communication and could be diagnostic marker for many diseases. Here, we aimed to find potential key proteins for the early diagnosis of AMI. A label free proteomics strategy was used to identify the differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) of AMI patients' plasma exosome. By bioinformatics analysis and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay to validate the candidate proteins. Compared to healthy control plasma exosome, we totally identified 72 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) in AMI patients. Also, we found that complement and coagulation cascades was activated by KEGG analysis and GSEA. PLG, C8B and F2 were selected as candidate molecules for further study, and then validated another 40 plasma samples using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Finally, we found that the expression levels of these three proteins (PLG, C8B and F2) were significantly higher than those of healthy controls (P < 0.05). ROC analysis revealed that PLG, C8B and F2 had potential value for AMI early diagnosis. In conclusion, our study identified three potential biomarkers for AMI diagnosis. But there remains a need to further study the mechanism of the biomarkers.

Maize (Zea mays L.) is the most important food crop in the world, with significant acreage and production across the globe. However, it is affected by low temperatures throughout its growth process, especially during germination. Therefore, it is important to identify more QTLs or genes associated with germination under low-temperature conditions. For the QTL analysis of traits related to low-temperature germination, we used a high-res genetic map of 213 lines of the intermated B73 × Mo17 (IBM) Syn10 doubled haploid (DH) population, which had 6618 bin markers. We detected 28 QTLs of eight phenotypic characteristics associated with low-temperature germination, while they explained the phenotypic contribution rate of 5.4 ~ 13.34%. Additionally, 14 overlapping QTLs produced six QTL clusters on every chromosome, except for 8 and 10. RNA-Seq found six genes related to low-temperature tolerance in these QTLs, while qRT-PCR analysis demonstrated that the expression trends of the Zm00001d045568 gene in the LT_BvsLT_M group and the CK_BvsCK_M group were highly significantly different at all four-time points (P < 0.01), and encoded the RING zinc finger protein. It was located on qRTL9-2 and qRSVI9-1 and is related to the total length and simple vitality index. These results provided potential candidate genes for further gene cloning and improving the low-temperature tolerance of maize. High-voltage spinel materials have attracted widespread attention because of their advantages such as good rate performance, low cost, abundant source, and easy preparation. However, the Mn dissolution and Jahn-Teller effect of spinel materials during cycling limit their practical application. In this paper, the allogenic composites (1 - x)Li(Ni0.2Co0.1Mn0.7)2 O4·xLi1.2(Ni0.2Co0.1Mn0.7)0.8O2 (x = 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5) are developed by the carbonate co-precipitation method combined with the high-temperature sintering method, which are certified by the X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectrum and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) image. The results show that the lithium-rich phase of the allogenic composites can effectively improve the initial discharge capacity, alleviate the side reaction between the spinel material and the electrolyte, and improve the cycle stability. This work reveals the relationship between the structure and electrochemical performance of the in situ transformed spinel@Li-rich allogenic composites and provide a new clue to design a high-performance spinel cathode for advanced Li-ion batteries.

PURPOSE: To develop and validate a clinical-radiomic nomogram for the preoperative prediction of the aldosterone-producing adenoma (APA) risk in patients with unilateral adrenal adenoma. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Ninety consecutive primary aldosteronism (PA) patients with unilateral adrenal adenoma who underwent adrenal venous sampling (AVS) were randomly separated into training (n = 62) and validation cohorts (n = 28) (7:3 ratio) by a computer algorithm. Data were collected from October 2017 to June 2020. The prediction model was developed in the training cohort. Radiomic features were extracted from unenhanced computed tomography (CT) images of unilateral adrenal adenoma. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression model was used to reduce data dimensions, select features, and establish a radiomic signature. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used for the predictive model development, the radiomic signature and clinical risk factors integration, and the model was displayed as a clinical-radiomic nomogram. The nomogram performance was evaluated by its calibration, discrimination, and clinical practicability. Internal validation was performed. RESULTS: Six potential predictors were selected from 358 texture features by using the LASSO regression model. These features were included in the Radscore. The predictors included in the individualized prediction nomogram were the Radscore, age, sex, serum potassium level, and aldosterone-to-renin ratio (ARR). The model showed good discrimination, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of 0.900 [95% confidence interval (CI), 0.807 to 0.993], and good calibration. The nomogram still showed good discrimination [AUC, 0.912 (95% CI, 0.761 to 1.000)] and good calibration in the validation cohort. Decision curve analysis presented that the nomogram was useful in clinical practice. CONCLUSIONS: A clinical-radiomic nomogram was constructed by integrating a radiomic signature and clinical factors. The nomogram facilitated accurate prediction of the probability of APA in patients with unilateral adrenal nodules and could be helpful for clinical decision making.
