RESUMEN

Using county-level panel data for Jiangsu Province from 2008 to 2018, this study adopted a fixed effect model to analyze the impact of land consolidation on crop planting structure, also considering the moderating effect of distance from the city center and the heterogeneous effect of various types of land consolidation. The results revealed that farmland consolidation and land reclamation had a negative impact on the proportion of grain crops (rice, wheat, and corn) cultivated, which declined by 0.0051 % (0.0069 %), 0.0055 % (0.0124 %), and 0.0101 % (0.0123 %) for every 1 % increase in investment, construction area, and newly added arable land from farmland consolidation (land reclamation), respectively, demonstrating that land consolidation has not prevented, or even encouraged nongrain production expansion. The production conditions of reclaimed arable land and land transfer practices following consolidation may be factors affecting these declines. Notably, the negative effect of land consolidation on crop planting structure weakens when the land is further away from the city center. To ensure food security, priority should be given to follow-up management after land consolidation and rational oversight and guidance following land transfer.

The process of reconstructing an arterial graft is a complex and dynamic process that is subject to the influence of various mechanical factors, including tissue regeneration and blood pressure. The attainment of favorable remodeling outcomes is contingent upon the biocompatibility and biomechanical properties of the arterial graft. A promising strategy involves the emulation of the three-layer structure of the native artery, wherein the inner layer is composed of polycaprolactone (PCL) fibers aligned with blood flow, exhibiting excellent biocompatibility that fosters endothelial cell growth and effectively prevents platelet adhesion. The middle layer, consisting of PCL and polyurethane (PU), offers mechanical support and stability by forming a contractile smooth muscle ring and antiexpansion PU network. The outer layer, composed of PCL fibers with an irregular arrangement, promotes the growth of nerves and pericytes for long-term vascular function. Prioritizing the reconstruction of the inner and outer layers establishes a stable environment for intermediate smooth muscle growth. Our three-layer arterial graft is designed to provide the blood vessel with mechanical support and stability through nondegradable PU, while the incorporation of degradable PCL generates potential spaces for tissue ingrowth, thereby transforming our graft into a living implant.

This study aimed to evaluate the biological effect and mechanism of Vernonia anthelmintica Injection(VAI) on melanin accumulation. The in vivo depigmentation model was induced by propylthiouracil(PTU) in zebrafish, and the effect of VAI on melanin accumulation was evaluated based on the in vitro B16F10 cell model. The chemical composition of VAI was identified according to the high-performance liquid chromatography quadrupole-time-of-flight tandem mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-TOF-MS). Network pharmaco-logy was applied to predict potential targets and pathways of VAI. A "VAI component-target-pathway" network was established, and the pharmacodynamic molecules were screened out based on the topological characteristics of the network. The binding of active molecules to key targets was verified by molecular docking. The results showed that VAI promoted tyrosinase activity and melanin production in B16F10 cells in a dose-and time-dependent manner and could restore the melanin in the body of the zebrafish model. Fifty-six compounds were identified from VAI, including flavonoids(15/56), terpenoids(10/56), phenolic acids(9/56), fatty acids(9/56), steroids(6/56), and others(7/56). Network pharmacological analysis screened four potential quality markers, including apigenin, chrysoeriol, syringaresinol, and butein, involving 61 targets and 65 pathways, and molecular docking verified their binding to TYR, NFE2L2, CASP3, MAPK1, MAPK8, and MAPK14. It was found that the mRNA expression of MITF, TYR, TYRP1, and DCT in B16F10 cells was promoted. By UPLC-Q-TOF-MS and network pharmacology, this study determined the material basis of VAI against vitiligo, screened apigenin, chrysoeriol, syringaresinol, and butein as the quality markers of VAI, and verified the efficacy and internal mechanism of melanogenesis, providing a basis for quality control and further clinical research.

BACKGROUND: Intranasal drip of dexmedetomidine in children with sevoflurane anesthesia can reduce anesthesia and restlessness. However, there is still some controversy. We conducted a meta-analysis to explore the effect of intranasal infusion of dexmedetomidine on the quality of recovery during the recovery period, to provide certain guidance for clinical application. METHODS: Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library were used for literature search. Systematic reviews were based on PRISMA (the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis). RESULTS: A total of 14 articles and 1123 patients were included. The results of the meta-analysis showed that the incidence of emergence agitation [risk ratio (RR), 0.32; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.20-0.50; P < 0.0001], satisfactory sedation at parent separation (RR, 1.41; 95% CI, 1.031-93; P = 0.034), incidence of nausea and vomiting (RR, 0.41; 95% CI, 0.21-0.78; P = 0.007), and incidence of laryngospasm (RR, 0.23; 95% CI, 0.08-0.65; P = 0.006) of the intranasal dexmedetomidine group were different compared with the control group. However, the satisfactory sedation at mask induction in the intranasal dexmedetomidine group (RR, 1.16; 95% CI, 0.87-1.54; P = 0.319), postanesthesia care unit (PACU) stay time (standardized mean deviation, 0.51; 95% CI, -0.11 to 1.12; P = 0.107), and extubation time (standardized mean deviation, 1.64; 95% CI, -1.07 to 4.35; P = 0.235) were not statistically significant compared with those of the control group. CONCLUSION: Intranasal dexmedetomidine anesthesia with sevoflurane in children can reduce the incidence of emergence agitation, provide more satisfactory sedation when the parents are separated, reduce the incidence of nausea and vomiting, and reduce the incidence of laryngospasm. In addition, the 2 µg/kg dose of dexmedetomidine may be the best dose for clinical application.

BACKGROUND: The stromal vascular fraction can improve volume retention after fat grafting, but the optimal stromal vascular fraction extraction method remains controversial. This study investigated the effect of mechanical vibration on stromal vascular fraction activity and explored the efficacy of vibration as a new extraction method compared to centrifugation, enzyme digestion, and nanoemulsion methods. METHODS: Twenty-four rabbits were divided into three groups, and adipose tissue was harvested from the scapular region of each rabbit. In the first group, stromal vascular fraction was extracted from adipose tissue by vibration with different frequencies and durations. Cell counts and colony formation were assessed to determine the optimal vibration parameters. In the second group, stromal vascular fraction was extracted by the four methods, and the cell counts, proliferation, and adipogenic capabilities were observed in vitro. In the third group, adipose tissue mixed with stromal vascular fraction extracted by means of the four methods was grafted into rabbit ears. Volume retention and histologic changes were evaluated over 24 weeks. RESULTS: Stromal vascular fraction activity was not influenced by low-frequency (≤45 Hz) and short-duration (≤20 minutes) vibrations. Vibration at 30 Hz for 15 minutes was most efficient for stromal vascular fraction extraction. In vitro, stromal vascular fraction extracted by vibration showed advantages for cell viability. In vivo, the vibration group showed a more normal tissue morphology and a higher retention rate (60.68 ± 7.07 percent) than the enzyme digestion (31.88 ± 4.99 percent), centrifugation (43.76 ± 4.32 percent), and nanoemulsion groups (21.79 ± 3.57 percent) (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Vibration at 30 Hz for 15 minutes is recommended as a novel nonenzymatic method to extract stromal vascular fraction with high activity.

Maxillofacial bone defects caused by multiple factors, including congenital deformations and tumors, have become a research focus in the field of oral medicine. Bone tissue engineering is increasingly regarded as a potential approach for maxillofacial bone repair. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) with different origins display various biological characteristics. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of casein kinase­2 interaction protein­1 (CKIP­1) on MSCs, including femoral bone marrow­derived MSCs (BMMSCs) and orofacial bone­derived MSCs (OMSCs), isolated from the femoral and orofacial bones of wild­type (WT) and CKIP­1 knockout (KO) mice. MSCs were isolated using collagenase II and the main biological characteristics, including proliferation, apoptosis and osteogenic differentiation, were investigated. Subcutaneous transplantation of MSCs in mice was also performed to assess ectopic bone formation. MTT and clone formation assay results indicated that cell proliferation in the KO group was increased compared with the WT group, and OMSCs exhibited significantly increased levels of proliferation compared with BMMSCs. However, the proportion of apoptotic cells was not significantly different between CKIP­1 KO OMSCs and BMMSCs. Furthermore, it was revealed that osteogenic differentiation was increased in CKIP­1 KO MSCs compared with WT MSCs, particularly in OMSCs. Consistent with the in vitro results, enhanced ectopic bone formation was observed in CKIP­1 KO mice compared with WT mice, particularly in OMSCs compared with BMMSCs. In conclusion, the present results indicated that OMSCs may have a superior sensitivity to CKIP­1 in promoting osteogenesis compared with BMMSCs; therefore, CKIP­1 KO in OMSCs may serve as an efficient strategy for maxillofacial bone repair.

Excessive accumulation of heavy metals in tea has certain health risk to the consumers. To discuss the spatial relationship between heavy metals in tea leaves and soil in a county scale, 74 samples of tea leaves and corresponding subsoil (15-30 cm) were collected in the tea plantations of Lishui, Nanjing, China. The total Zn, Ni, Mn, Cr, Pb and Cu in both tea leaves and soil samples, as well as pH value in soil were analyzed. The results of regression showed that the Mn and Cr in tea leaves were increased when the Mn and Cr in soil were at high levels, and higher pH decreased Zn, Ni, Mn and Cu contents in tea leaves. Moreover, distance to village and metal industry had negative impacts on the Mn level in soil. It is necessary to control the pH of soil in tea plantations which are close to villages or metal industries, as well as, to search more appropriate areas, where are far away from villages or metal industries, to plant tea should be taken into consideration. In addition, 17.57% of the samples have higher concentration of Pb than the maximum limits was found in tea plantation of Lishui. Heavy metals (Cr) standards regarding leafy vegetables is used for reference in this study, as there are no maximum levels of contaminants (MLC) in tea. It is significant to construct a targeted standard of heavy metals contents that could applicable throughout the world for reduce the health risks to the consumers.
