Taxis play a crucial role in urban public transportation, but the traffic safety situation of taxi drivers is far from optimistic, especially considering the introduction of ride-hailing services into the taxi industry. This study conducted a comparative analysis of risk factors in crashes between traditional taxi drivers and ride-hailing taxi drivers in China, including their demographic characteristics, working conditions, and risky driving behaviors. The data was collected from 2,039 traditional taxi drivers and 2,182 ride-hailing taxi drivers via self-reported questionnaires. Four XGBoost models were established, taking into account different types of taxi drivers and crash types. All models showed acceptable performance, and SHAP explainer was used to analyze the model results. The results showed that for both taxi drivers, risk factors related to risky driving behaviors are more important in predicting property damage (PD) crashes, while risk factors related to working conditions are more important in predicting person injury (PI) crashes. However, the relative importance of each risk factor varied depending on the type of crashes and the type of taxi drivers involved. Furthermore, the results also validated certain interactions among the risk factors, indicating that the combination of certain factors generated a greater impact on crashes compared to individual factors alone. These findings can provide valuable insights for formulating appropriate measures to enhance road safety for taxi driver.

Bosten Lake is an important region of Northwest China that has transformed from a freshwater lake to a saltwater lake since the 1970s. The water quality in the Bosten Lake basin is important for social and economic development, and nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) are the key indicators of water quality. The land use data, precipitation data and Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data with the Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs (InVEST) model were used to simulate the N and P exports of the Bosten Lake basin. The spatial and temporal dynamics of nitrogen and phosphorus exports, and the response of nitrogen and phosphorus exports to land use change and precipitation change were analyzed between 2000 and 2015. The results show that the amount of N and P exports increased during 2000-2015, and the N and P exports are mainly distributed around Bosten Lake. The N and P exports are greatly affected by cultivated land, built-up areas and grassland, while they are less affected by other land use types. The high precipitation areas with small exports of N and P are mainly distributed in mountain areas, while small precipitation areas with large exports of N and P are distributed in plains where the cultivated land and built-up areas are concentrated. The InVEST model can be used in Northwest China, and the statistical downscaling of reanalysis precipitation data can be used in the InVEST model to improve the simulation accuracy in the data scarce regions of Northwest China.

Quantitatively evaluating the spatiotemporal variation of soil moisture (SM) and its causes can help us to understand regional eco-hydrological processes. However, the complicated geographical environment and the scarce observation data make it difficult to evaluate SM in Northwest China. Selecting the Tarim River Basin (TRB) as a typical representative of the data-scarce area in Northwest China, we conducted an integrated approach to quantitatively assess the spatiotemporal variation of shallow soil moisture (SSM) and its responses to climate change by gathering the earth system data product. Results show that the low-value of SSM distributes in Taklamakan Desert while the high-value basically distributes in the Pamirs and the southern foothill of Tianshan Mountains, where the land types are mostly forest, grassland, and farmland. Annual average SSM of these three land types present a significant increasing trend during the study period. SM at 0-10 cm of all land types are positively correlated to precipitation in spring and autumn, and SM at 0-10 cm in the forest, grassland, and farmland are positively correlated with temperature in winter. SSM presents in-phase relation with precipitation whereas it presents anti-phase relation with temperature, with the significant resonance periods about 6-8 years and 2-3 years which mainly distribute from 1970s to early 1990s and 1960s respectively. The time lags of SSM relative to temperature change are longer than its lags relative to precipitation change, and the lags vary from different land types.
