While large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated significant potential in medical education, there is limited understanding of medical students' acceptance of LLMs and the factors influencing their use. This study explores medical students' acceptance of LLMs in learning and examines the factors influencing this acceptance through the lens of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). A questionnaire survey conducted among Chinese medical students revealed a high willingness to use LLMs in their studies. The findings suggest that attitudes play a crucial role in predicting medical students' behavioral intentions to use LLMs, mediating the effects of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and perceived risk. Additionally, perceived risk and social influence directly impact behavioral intentions. This study provides compelling evidence supporting the applicability of the TAM to the acceptance of LLMs in medical education, highlighting the necessity for medical students to utilize LLMs as an auxiliary tool in their learning process.

BACKGROUND: In healthcare facilities, evidence-based healthcare practice (EBHP) is becoming more widely acknowledged as a critical element of patient care delivery. An increasingly important component of EBHP is the implementation of electronic health records (EHRs). OBJECTIVES: This study aims to investigate factors that influence EBHP adoption in public healthcare institutions in South Africa. METHOD: Four hundred and fifty patients were self-administered to healthcare professionals at an academic public hospital in Gauteng and used in this study. A total of 300 responses were available for use in the final analysis following the data cleaning procedure. Utilising structural equation modelling (SEM), the collected data were analysed. RESULTS: Perceived ease of use (PEOU) and perceived usefulness (PU) were found to be major variables in the adoption of EBHP along with technological, organisational and environmental factors. The technology context relative advantage (RELA) was shown to have a positive significant influence on the adoption of evidence-based healthcare practice by the PEOU and PU, with the environmental context government laws and regulations (GLRS) and organisational context organisational readiness (ORGR) coming in second and third, respectively. CONCLUSION: Perceived ease of use, PU, ORGR, and GLRS are regarded as a vital variables in the implementation of EBHP in South African public hospitals.Contribution: The study's conclusions would be helpful to policymakers as they redefine nursing practice. Furthermore, the findings heighten the consciousness of healthcare practitioners regarding the significance of employing evidence-based practice while making decisions.

The discussion around integrating AI technologies into educational practice is current among scholars and in sociopolitical circles. This study examines the factors influencing teachers' acceptance of educational AI tool (EAIT) use, aiming to inform the development of a pedagogical framework for the responsible integration of AI tools in education. A conceptual model was developed by amalgamating constructs of TAM (perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use) and UTAUT (social influence and facilitating conditions) while integrating the variables of perceived trust and personal innovativeness and considering the impact of teachers' pedagogical beliefs. A total of 342 Greek teachers participated in the quantitative survey conducted. The proposed model was evaluated using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). The findings illuminated perceived usefulness as the most significant predictor of teachers' behavioural intention to use EAIT. The research also revealed that social influence and personal innovativeness exert considerable influence. While constructivist pedagogical beliefs were found to have no direct impact on EAIT acceptance, the results indicated that educators who embrace those teaching methods exhibit a high propensity to perceive EAIT as useful and trustworthy. Furthermore, the study's analysis demonstrated that trust had a significantly positive effect on usefulness, and innovativeness influences positively and significantly both usefulness and ease of use.

Regulating patients' no-show behavior is critical from the standpoints of sustainable medical services and operational efficiencies. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the patients' intention to make partial up-front payments at outpatient clinics. This was a cross-sectional study design introducing a self-administered questionnaire to 221 outpatients at a private health facility. The questionnaire measured the patient's demographic characteristics, perceived usefulness (PU), trust in the health facility, and intention to make upfront partial payments. Out of the total respondents, 57.4% were female. There were 34.8% Malays, 40.6% Chinese and 24.6% Indians. The majority (66.5%) of the respondents attained tertiary education. Nearly a third of the respondents (30.5%) reported an income between 3000 and 5000 Malaysian Ringgit (RM). Regarding payment mode, just more than half (51.1%) made self-payment, and 21.8% by guaranteed letter. A quarter (24.9%) waited more than 3 h for consultation and 59.6% visited the health facility more than 2 times in a year. Initial analysis showed that PU, trust, age, education, number of visits, and hours of waiting were significantly associated with the intention to make a partial payment. Multiple linear regression showed that perceived usefulness (B = 0.517, p < 0.001); trust in hospital management (B = 0.288, p < 0.001) and number of visits (B = 0.216, p < 0.001) were associated with the intention to make partial payment. Intention to make partial up-front payments is associated with higher perceived usefulness in making such payments and hospital trust. Visiting the health facility frequently was associated with a higher intention to make upfront partial payment. The result may guide further studies on potential remedies to no-show.

This study conducted policy and regulation analyses and user acceptance surveys in three East Asian countries with developed telecommunication infrastructure (China, South Korea, and Japan) to determine the most effective way to implement mobile health (mHealth). Regional differences in users' emphasis on the purpose of mHealth, including medical information referral or health management, appear to be influenced by regional regulation, thus making regulation analysis important when considering mHealth penetration strategies. Potential mHealth users have high expectations for medical information and correspondence, which is crucial for the pharmaceutical industry in terms of providing information and retaining patients. Furthermore, potential users are willing to use the system medically, which is beneficial to the pharmaceutical industry when introducing mHealth and prescriptions in combination.

This study investigates Romanian physicians' acceptance of telemedicine using the Technology Acceptance Model. We analyzed 1093 responses to an online survey distributed nationwide to physicians via email by the National Authority of Quality Management in Health, employing the partial least squares algorithm to estimate the relationship between the behavioral intention to adopt telemedicine and its potential determinants. Our findings reveal that the model accounts for 84.6% of the variance in behavioral intention to use telemedicine. Among the two constructs of the TAM model, perceived usefulness is a stronger predictor of behavioral intention than perceived ease of use. Additionally, subjective norms positively and significantly influence physicians' intention to use telemedicine and their perception of its usefulness. Furthermore, perceived incentives and accessibility to medical records also positively impact the behavioral intention to use telemedicine.

BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic contributed to an increase in teleconsultation adoption in the Polish primary health care system. It is expected that in the long run, teleconsultations will successfully replace a significant part of face-to-face visits. Therefore, a significant challenge facing primary health care facilities (PHCs) is the acceptance of teleconsultations by their users, especially physicians. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore physicians' acceptance of teleconsultations during the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland. METHODS: A representative survey was conducted among 361 physicians of PHCs across Poland in 2021. For the purposes of the study, we developed a modified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) model. Based on the modified TAM, we analyzed the impact of perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEU), and intention to use teleconsultation (INT) on physicians' satisfaction (SAT) and quality of work (Q). The psychometric properties of the research instrument were examined using exploratory factor analysis. Finally, structural equation modeling was used for data analysis. RESULTS: The results indicated a generally high level of PU (mean 3.85-4.36, SD 0.87-1.18), PEU (mean 3.81-4.60, SD 0.60-1.42), INT (mean 3.87-4.22, SD 0.89-1.12), and SAT (mean 3.55-4.13, SD 0.88-1.16); the lowest rated dimension in TAM was Q (mean 3.28-3.73, SD 1.06-1.26). The most important independent variable was PU. The influence of PU on INT (estimate=0.63, critical ratio [CR]=15.84, P<.001) and of PU on SAT (estimate=0.44, CR= 9.53, P<.001) was strong. INT was also a key factor influencing SAT (estimate=0.4, CR=8.57, P<.001). A weaker relationship was noted in the effect of PEU on INT (estimate=0.17, CR=4.31, P<.001). In turn, Q was positively influenced by INT (estimate=0.179, CR=3.64, P<.001), PU (estimate=0.246, CR=4.79, P<.001), PEU (estimate=0.18, CR=4.93, P<.001), and SAT (estimate=0.357, CR=6.97, P<.001). All paths between the constructs (PU, PEU, INT, SAT, and Q) were statistically significant, which highlights the multifaceted nature of the adoption of teleconsultations among physicians. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings provide strong empirical support for the hypothesized relationships in TAM. The findings suggest that the PU and PEU of teleconsultation have a significant impact on the intention of physicians to adopt teleconsultation. This results in an improvement in the satisfaction of Polish physicians with the use of teleconsultation and an increase in Q. The study contributes to both theory and practice by identifying important prognostic factors affecting physicians' acceptance of teleconsultation systems.

This study presents an in-depth exploration of the impact of online learning interactions on student learning outcomes. Drawing from the Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) paradigm, our study focuses on the effects of online learning interactions on learners' perception usefulness and ease of use, subsequently impacting their learning outcomes. The study employs a quantitative research methodology, gathering data from a sample of 397 students enrolled in various higher education institutions across China. Data collection involved administering structured questionnaires that were designed to quantitatively assess the three components of the SOR model: stimulus (online learning interactions), organism (students' perceptions), and response (learning outcomes). The measurement model assessment and structural model assessment were conducted. Our findings reveal that online learning interactions can effectively enhance learners' perception of online learning (usefulness and ease of use), thereby influencing their learning outcomes. Notably, perceived usefulness negatively mediates the relationship between online learning interactions and learning outcomes, while perceived ease of use positively mediates this relationship. These findings offer both theoretical and practical implications.

Improving nutritional intake contributes to maintaining the health and quality of life of the older population and reducing individual and societal healthcare costs. We collaborated with two community service hubs and a public health center in Taipei's Daan District to develop a personalized community-based health and nutrition program using service design. The design was validated through a model encompassing perceived usefulness, service experience, perceived value, and behavioral intention, analyzed using PLS-SEM modeling on 76 individuals. The results showed bidirectional influences among these factors. This study provides practical recommendations for formulating public health policies and health promotion programs for older adults.

The role of Mathematics Teacher Educators (MTEs) in preparing future teachers to effectively integrate technology into their mathematics instruction is of paramount importance yet remains an underexplored domain. Technology has the potential to enhance the development of 21st-century skills, such as problem-solving and critical thinking, which are essential for students in the era of the fourth industrial revolution. However, the rapid evolution of technology and the emergence of new trends like data analytics, the Internet of Things, machine learning, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence present new challenges in the realm of mathematics teaching and learning. Consequently, MTEs need to equip prospective teachers with the knowledge and skills to harness technology in innovative ways within their future mathematics classrooms. This paper presents and describes data from a survey of 104 MTEs in Zambia. The study focuses on MTEs' proficiency, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and willingness to incorporate technology in their classrooms. This data-driven article aims to unveil patterns and trends within the dataset, with the objective of offering insights rather than drawing definitive conclusions. The article also highlights the data collection process and outlines the procedure for assessing the measurement model of the hypothesised relationships among variables through structural equation modelling analysis. The data described in this article not only sheds light on the current landscape but also serves as a valuable resource for mathematics teacher training institutions and other stakeholders seeking to understand the requisites for MTEs to foster technological skills among prospective teachers of mathematics.

BACKGROUND: The growing significance of E-Pharmacy services in healthcare necessitates investigating the factors influencing users' behavioral intentions on these platforms. Comprehending these variables is imperative to maximize service provision, elevate customer satisfaction, and ultimately elevate healthcare accessibility and results. OBJECTIVE(S): The main goal of this study is to explore the factors that shape consumers' inclination to use E-Pharmacy services, focusing on the framework provided by the Technology Acceptance Model. Additionally, we aimed to investigate how technological literacy plays a moderating role in this context, specifically within the South African setting. METHODS: Using a sample of 480 South African clients, the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) were used to investigate the factors influencing behavioral intention to use E-Pharmacy services. RESULTS: The findings underscore perceived usefulness, trust, performance expectancy, and social Influence as fundamental drivers influencing users' intentions to adopt E-Pharmacy systems. Additionally, the study shows that consumers' intention to use E-Pharmacy services is significantly and favorably affected by their desire to utilize such services. This suggests that individuals are more likely to act on positive intentions when they are interested in using E-Pharmacy platforms. Intriguingly, technological literacy has emerged as a moderating factor in the relationship between the intention to use and the actual behavior of utilizing E-Pharmacy platforms. This demonstrates the importance of consumers' technical knowledge and skills in bridging the intention-behavior gap and highlights the necessity of adapting treatments and instructional strategies to account for various levels of technological literacy. CONCLUSION: This study provides valuable insights into the complex relationships between factors influencing the acceptance of E-Pharmacy services in South Africa. This knowledge can have practical implications for lawmakers, developers of E-Pharmacy platforms, and healthcare professionals who aim to enhance user acceptance and utilization.

In countries with a long tradition of folk herbal medicine that is not integrated into the health system, consumer interest in medicinal herbs has increased. Considering the lack of knowledge about the factors influencing the use of medicinal herbs, the aim of this study was to identify the most important factors of herbal use in Slovenia. Factors were assessed in June 2023 using a nationwide sample (N = 508). Results show that almost half of the respondents are not familiar with medicinal herbs, however, 86% use them at least a few times a year. The "familiarity with medicinal herbs" had the strongest direct effect on the use of medicinal herbs, followed by the "social impact of the herbalist" and the "perceived usefulness of medicinal herbs." There is a need to create a new approach to integrative medicine policy and the use of medicinal herbs in Slovenia by developing educational programs, training professionals, establishing guidelines for the safe and effective use of herbs, and advocating for reimbursement by health insurance companies.

Background: Suicide safety plans were originally devised to be paper-based and clinician-guided, but digital self-guided plans are now common. Aim: This study explored whether plan format (paper vs. digital), assistance (self-authored vs. collaboration), and suicide attempt history were associated with differences in suicidal ideation, suicide-related coping, and perceived usefulness. Method: An online sample of safety plan users (N = 131) completed a survey assessing suicidal ideation, suicide-related coping, and perceived usefulness of their plan. t tests compared outcomes by plan format, collaboration, and suicide attempt history. Pearson correlations explored associations between reasons for plan use, suicidal ideation, and suicide-related coping. Results: Suicidal ideation was significantly higher, and perceived usefulness significantly lower in participants with a past suicide attempt (vs. none) and in those who had collaborated to make their safety plan (vs. self-authored). Collaborators were largely health professionals. No significant differences were found between plan formats. Suicide-related coping was associated with higher perceived usefulness overall. Limitations: Our study design was cross-sectional, utilizing a largely young, female, English-speaking, online help-seeking sample. Conclusions: For clients with prior suicide attempts and higher levels of suicidal ideation, meaningful collaboration may be needed to find safety plan coping strategies that are perceived as useful.

INTRODUCTION: Adherence to COVID-19 mitigation measures is an important vehicle that has contributed to the fight against the pandemic. The present study investigated potential changes of the level of adherence and its predictors between 2020 and 2021 in eight countries. METHODS: Adherence to COVID-19 measures and its potential predictors (perception of usefulness of the measures, rating of the governmental COVID-19 communication, mental health variables, COVID-19 burden) were compared between representative population samples from European Union countries (France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Sweden) and non-European Union countries (Russia, UK, USA) assessed in 2020 (N = 7,658) and 2021 (N = 8,244). RESULTS: In the overall sample, multiple analyses of variance revealed significantly higher levels of adherence to the measures, their perception as useful, positive mental health, and feelings of being well supported and well informed by governments in 2020 than in 2021. In contrast, feelings of being left alone and symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress were significantly higher in 2021 than in 2020. In France, Poland, Spain, and the UK, the adherence level was significantly higher in 2020 than in 2021. In European Union countries, ratings of governmental communication were less positive, and levels of mental health were lower in 2021 than in 2020. In non-European countries, an opposite result pattern was found. CONCLUSION: The current results indicate a decrease in adherence to the mitigation measures and factors that could foster it. Potential ways how governments and authorities could enhance the population's trust in COVID-19 mitigation measures are discussed.

The perceived usefulness (PU) of a technology is critical for its final adoption; however, what makes an interactive whiteboard (IWB) perceived useful remains unclear. This study aims to investigate how pre-service teachers perceive the usefulness of Seewo interactive whiteboards for ESL (English-as-a-second-language) instruction. We recruited 80 pre-service ESL teachers, divided them into 16 groups, provided five weeks of training, and conducted focus group interviews to gather qualitative feedback. The data were analyzed using grounded theory techniques with the aid of the software Nvivo. Three research questions were addressed: how pre-service ESL teachers perceive the usefulness of Seewo IWB in terms of its functions that enhance the learning process (PU-process), how they perceive the usefulness of Seewo IWB in terms of its functions that improve learning outcomes (PU-outcome), and how they perceive the non-usefulness of Seewo IWB. The findings shed light on the determinants of the perceived usefulness (PU) concept, which is crucial for fostering a higher intention to accept technology.

BACKGROUND: Mobile mental health applications play a significant role in mental health care to fill gaps in care for mental disorders. Despite the growth in mobile phone apps for mental health conditions, patients' mental health smartphone application use, perceived usefulness, and future interest in using apps for mental disorders have not been systematically examined. METHODS: The authors designed and conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement. Articles reporting mobile/smartphone applications used for mental disorders describing ownership, application use, perceived helpfulness, future interest to use, use patterns, and attitudes were included. PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, PsychINFO, Scopus, and Google Scholar were searched. Published articles from 2014 up to October 2022 were included. The methodological quality was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute critical appraisal tool. The heterogeneity test, publication bias, funnel plots and Egger's test were applied. The outcome was calculated by metaprop command using a random-effects model. RESULTS: Ten studies met the eligibility criteria. The pooled prevalence of smartphone ownership, application use for current mental health disorders, perceived usefulness, and future interest in using the app for their mental health problem was 88.63%, 23.29%, 72.80%, and 78.97%, respectively. Heterogeneity and publication bias were detected. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study indicate that despite a considerable number of smartphone users, perceived usefulness, and future interest in using smartphone mental health applications among patients with mental disorders, only about one-fifth use an application for mental health disorders. The results show that there is a large potential to increase the use of apps for patients to support self-care in the growing era of digital mental health. Further research with consumers and mental health professionals is recommended to address barriers and improve mhealth app utilization. BACKGROUND: Although evidence suggests that digital mental health interventions (DMHIs) are effective alternatives to traditional mental health care, participant engagement continues to be an issue, especially for pediatric DMHIs. Extant studies of DMHIs among adults suggest that participants' satisfaction, perceived usefulness, and therapeutic alliance are closely tied to engagement. However, these associations have not been investigated among children and adolescents involved in DMHIs. OBJECTIVE: To address these gaps in extant DMHI research, the purpose of this study was to (1) develop and implement a measure to assess satisfaction, perceived usefulness, and therapeutic alliance among children and adolescents participating in a DMHI and (2) investigate satisfaction, perceived usefulness, and therapeutic alliance as correlates of children's and adolescents' engagement in the DMHI. METHODS: Members (children and adolescents) of a pediatric DMHI who had completed at least one session with a care provider (eg, coach or therapist) were eligible for inclusion in the study. Adolescent members and caregivers of children completed a survey assessing satisfaction with service, perceived usefulness of care, and therapeutic alliance with care team members. RESULTS: This study provides evidence for the reliability and validity of an adolescent- and caregiver-reported user experience assessment in a pediatric DMHI. Moreover, our findings suggest that adolescents' and caregivers' satisfaction and perceived usefulness are salient correlates of youths' engagement with a DMHI. CONCLUSIONS: This study provides valuable preliminary evidence that caregivers' satisfaction and perceived usefulness are salient correlates of youths' engagement with a DMHI. Although further research is required, these findings offer preliminary evidence that caregivers play a critical role in effectively increasing engagement among children and adolescents involved in DMHIs.

BACKGROUND: eHealth systems have been increasingly used to manage depressive symptoms in patients with somatic illnesses. However, understanding the factors that drive their use, particularly among patients with breast and prostate cancer, remains a critical area of research. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to determine the factors influencing use of the NEVERMIND eHealth system among patients with breast and prostate cancer over 12 weeks, with a focus on the Technology Acceptance Model. METHODS: Data from the NEVERMIND trial, which included 129 patients with breast and prostate cancer, were retrieved. At baseline, participants completed questionnaires detailing demographic data and measuring depressive and stress symptoms using the Beck Depression Inventory-II and the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21, respectively. Over a 12-week period, patients engaged with the NEVERMIND system, with follow-up questionnaires administered at 4 weeks and after 12 weeks assessing the system's perceived ease of use and usefulness. Use log data were collected at the 2- and 12-week marks. The relationships among sex, education, baseline depressive and stress symptoms, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness (PU), and system use at various stages were examined using Bayesian structural equation modeling in a path analysis, a technique that differs from traditional frequentist methods. RESULTS: The path analysis was conducted among 100 patients with breast and prostate cancer, with 66% (n=66) being female and 81% (n=81) having a college education. Patients reported good mental health scores, with low levels of depression and stress at baseline. System use was approximately 6 days in the initial 2 weeks and 45 days over the 12-week study period. The results revealed that PU was the strongest predictor of system use at 12 weeks (ßuse at 12 weeks is predicted by PU at 12 weeks=.384), whereas system use at 2 weeks moderately predicted system use at 12 weeks (ßuse at 12 weeks is predicted by use at 2 weeks=.239). Notably, there were uncertain associations between baseline variables (education, sex, and mental health symptoms) and system use at 2 weeks, indicating a need for better predictors for early system use. CONCLUSIONS: This study underscores the importance of PU and early engagement in patient engagement with eHealth systems such as NEVERMIND. This suggests that, in general eHealth implementations, caregivers should educate patients about the benefits and functionalities of such systems, thus enhancing their understanding of potential health impacts. Concentrating resources on promoting early engagement is also essential given its influence on sustained use. Further research is necessary to clarify the remaining uncertainties, enabling us to refine our strategies and maximize the benefits of eHealth systems in health care settings.
RESUMEN
From the COVID-19 pandemic, e-government is a crucial tool in managing crisis and coping with change through communication and collaboration between the government, private, and civil sectors. The objective of this study was to develop an e-government development success model from the perspective of Thai citizens using integrated multiple concepts and to examine factors affecting the behavioral intention of citizens in e-government. A sample is Thai people in all regions of Thailand (n = 540) and analyzes by Structural Equation Model (SEM). The hypothesis testing found that factors directly influencing behavioral intention were information quality, system quality, service quality, citizen satisfaction, perceived usefulness, computer self-efficacy, and trust in government. Trust in government was the most direct influencing factor and was the mediating variable between perceived privacy and perceived security leading to behavioral intention. The results will benefit governments in developing e-government to drive the digital economy and society further.
RESUMEN
Social media platforms offer significant growth opportunities for enterprises, particularly microenterprises, due to the chance to establish direct contact with customers. Drawing on the Technology-Acceptance Model (TAM), in the present study, we investigate the psychological reasons that lead microentrepreneurs to use Social Networking Sites (SNSs) for their business. In doing so, we also extend TAM by taking into account entrepreneurs' personalities (e.g., extraversion and openness to experience) and their perceived risk. We collected data by examining 247 microentrepreneurs engaged in the production of handmade objects. Our results confirm that of all the TAM behavioral antecedents tested, perceived usefulness and attitude toward SNSs' usage for business proved to be the best predictors of the intention to use SNSs for business activity. The results also indicate that extraversion, openness to experience, and perceived risk, as external factors, significantly affect the TAM constructs. We discuss implications and suggestions for future research.
