BACKGROUND: Deep cerebral venous thrombosis (DCVT) is an uncommon cause of stroke with diverse predisposing factors, clinical presentations, imaging findings, and functional outcomes, which makes the diagnosis of DCVT even more challenging. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Retrospective observational study (December 2018 to January 2023). Cases with imaging data suggestive of DCVT were included. The neuroradiological assessment was performed using multimodality imaging to determine the location of parenchymal changes and the number of deep veins involved in isolation or with the superficial dural venous system. Clinical variables were tabulated. RESULTS: Of the 206 cases with CVT in the study period, 27 had DCVT (13.1%), of which four (14.8%) had isolated DCVT (male-to-female ratio 13:14; mean age = 33.4 years). Hyperhomocysteinemia (n = 11) is the most common risk factor associated with it. The most common presentations were headaches (n = 27) and focal motor deficits (n = 13). Raised intracranial tension (ICT) was present in almost half of the study population (n = 14). Mean and median modified Rankins score (mRS) at the time of discharge were 2.0 and 1, respectively. The most common deep vein involved was the straight sinus (SS) (n = 25), followed by the internal cerebral vein (n = 23). The mean and median mRS after 3 months from discharge were 0.3 and 0, respectively. CONCLUSION: A knowledge of diverse clinical presentations in DCVT, its neurovascular anatomy, and imaging characteristics with prompt diagnosis and timely interventions can assist in attenuating the risk of acute complications and long-term sequelae. Extensive deep grey matter involvement in DCVT is associated with neurological manifestations like altered sensorium and motor deficits, with increased severity of illness as measured by the mRS score.

INTRODUCTION: Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is an uncommon and clinically heterogeneous cerebrovascular particularly in children, only a few published case series focused in the pediatric population. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Retrospective single-center observational and analytical study of consecutive pediatric patients admitted in a level II Portuguese hospital with a confirmed diagnosis of CVT, from 2003 to 2021. Clinical presentation, neuroimaging findings, prothrombotic factors, treatment strategies, outcome and recanalization were documented. RESULTS: Twelve children were included (58% female). Mean age was 7.3 years. The most frequent symptoms were vomiting, headache and behavioral alterations. Infection was the triggering factor in 50% of the cases. The diagnosis of CVT was made based on imaging evidence of thrombosis through magnetic imaging resonance (MRI) with venography and/or computed tomography (CT) with venography. In 67% of cases there were multiples sinuses involved; the transverse sinus was the most affected, followed by the sigmoid sinus. In 83% of cases anticoagulant therapy was initiated with low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) and associated prothrombotic factors were investigated, with no major prothrombotic factors identified. No deaths occurred, but 30% had long-term neurological sequelae. One patient recurred 18 years later. CONCLUSION: The results of this study are consistent with data from other published studies. MRI is the preferred imaging method for diagnosis in children by avoiding ionizing radiation and allowing identification of subjacent causes. Anticoagulation with LMWH is recommended and important to reduce mortality and sequelae. Infectious diseases are the most common trigger for CVT and can also be the cause for high morbidity and poor outcomes.

Retrograde cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is a rare complication following internal jugular vein (IJV) ligation. The patient described in this report is a male in his 30s with locally advanced carcinoma tongue. He underwent near-total glossectomy and bilateral neck dissection. Due to heavy nodal burden, his right IJV had to be sacrificed. The patient presented with features of raised intracranial pressure (ICP) postoperatively. Magnetic resonance venogram of the brain revealed CVT involving sigmoid and transverse sinus. This case report describes a perplexing case of right-sided IJV ligation giving rise to CVT, resulting in raised ICP. Although the contralateral cerebral venous system was found to be normal, it failed to compensate for the obstructed outflow on the affected side. In this case report, we have elucidated the possible mechanism for the development of raised ICP and described the management in the light of existing evidence.

OBJECTIVES: To better understand the clinical and radiological characteristics of Cerebral Venous Thrombosis (CVT), we conducted a study focusing on the assessment of neurological outcomes and factors associated with poor prognosis in patients with CVT. METHODS: This prospective, observational study took place over two years (July 2020 to June 2022) in a tertiary care teaching hospital in South India, encompassing adults aged 18 years and over. Key data points included demographic information, symptomatology, physical and neurological examinations, neuroimaging findings, hospital interventions, and neurological outcomes at discharge and at a six-week telephonic follow-up. RESULTS: A total of 140 patients with CVT, median age 34 years, were studied. 61.4 % were males. The most common symptoms and signs were headaches (70.7 %) and papilledema (60.7 %). Hemorrhagic infarct was the most prevalent finding on the non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) of the brain, involving 39.4 % of patients. The most commonly affected sinus was the superior sagittal sinus. Risk factors most often observed were alcoholism (45 %), smoking (21.4 %), anemia (27.1 %), oral contraceptive pill usage (12.1 %), and hypertension (12.1 %). Deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism was present in 5 % of the patients. The mean hospital stay was 13.9 days, with 6.4 % of patients requiring endotracheal intubation at presentation and 22.9 % during their stay. The observed in-hospital mortality rate was 17.9 %, increasing to 22.4 % at the six-week follow-up. Morbidity (mRS 3-5) was 24.3 % at discharge, decreasing to 8.2 % at six-week follow-up. Favorable outcomes were reported in 57.9 % of cases at discharge, rising to 69.4 % at six weeks. CONCLUSIONS: Our study underscores the importance of recognizing cardinal symptoms and diverse risk factors of CVT, including alcoholism and anemia. Majority of CVT occurrences were observed in males aged 18-29. Critical determinants of heightened morbidity and mortality were identified, including lower GCS scores and the necessity for advanced interventions. Notably, majority of patients presented favorable neurological outcomes at six-week follow-up.

Hyperventilation-induced intracranial pressure reduction might be impaired in cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) patients. Using transcranial Doppler, we assessed carbon dioxide-vasomotor reactivity (CO2-VMR) within 24 hours of admission in CVT patients and studied its correlation with patient outcomes. Adult moderate-severe CVT patients (participants of another large observational study) were included. CO2-VMR was calculated as the percentage change in peak flow velocities during maximal hypercapnia and hypocapnia. Outcome was assessed with the modified Rankin scale (mRS) at one - month post-discharge, dichotomized into favourable (mRS≤2) and unfavourable (mRS>2). Twenty patients' data was analysed. Impaired CO2-VMR (<70 %) was observed in 13 patients in the affected hemisphere; among them, 10 had impairments in both hemispheres. CO2-VMR correlated negatively with mRS (Rho = -0.688, p = 0.001). Odds for unfavourable outcomes were reduced by 92 % in patients with intact VMR on the ipsilateral hemisphere (Odds ratio (OR) 0.08, Confidence interval (CI) 0.006---0.636, p = 0.027) and by 94 % with VMR intact on the contralateral hemisphere (OR 0.063, CI 0.003---0.569, p = 0.03). Thus, impaired CO2-VMR in moderate to severe CVT patients is associated with unfavourable outcomes, and has the potential to prognosticate CVT patients objectively.

Lumboperitoneal shunt (LPS) has been an effective treatment of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) but sometimes causes serious complications. Here we present the first reported case of cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) after LPS. A 76-year-old man underwent LPS for iNPH and a week later developed weakness of the right arm and a generalized tonic-clonic seizure. Brain computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging showed bilateral subdural hematoma (SDH) and left cortical vein thrombosis. Intravenous heparin was administered, followed by surgical evacuation of the SDH. The patient experienced gradual improvement and was subsequently discharged. It is conceivable that overdrainage of cerebrospinal fluid led to the development of both SDH and CVT. CVT is potentially fatal and should be recognized early as a possible complication after LPS to allow prompt treatment.

BACKGROUND: Surgical treatment of large or giant thrombosed anterior cerebral artery (ACA) aneurysms often involves revascularization. Herein, we describe a unique and effective bypass technique to treat partially thrombosed giant distal ACA aneurysms in extremely narrow surgical corridors. METHODS: A 68-year-old man underwent aneurysm trapping and ACA revascularization for a partially thrombosed giant ACA aneurysm in a surgical corridor that was narrow due to anatomic factors. By combining a side-to-side anastomosis and an end-to-side anastomosis at a single anastomotic site, we successfully redirected blood flow from the left pericallosal artery to the right pericallosal and callosomarginal arteries. RESULTS: Postoperatively, cerebral angiography showed that the blood flow in the aneurysm had disappeared, and the bypass remained open. The patient's functional disability gradually improved, and he reported consistently positive outcomes at the 6-month postoperative follow-up examination. CONCLUSIONS: This revascularization technique may represent an effective novel treatment option, particularly when multiple revascularization procedures are required within a narrow surgical field.

ABSTRACT: Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is a rare stroke with multiple risk factors. One rare risk factor is Behçet's disease (BD). Out of around 3000 cases at our center in the past 10 years, two cases of BD with CVT were seen. Herein, we report on their clinical symptoms, course, and management. Case 1 was a 18-year-old girl with a history of recurrent skin lesions presenting with encephalopathy syndrome due to CVT, requiring decompression. Despite our best efforts, she developed complications and expired due to sepsis. Case 2 was a 22-year-old male with raised intracranial pressure syndrome and a history of recurrent orogenital ulcers. His evaluation showed retinal vasculitis, papilledema, and bilateral lateral rectus palsy. Both had CVT on neuroimaging and had positivity for human leukocyte antigen-B51. Case 2 responded to the anticoagulation and immunomodulation. Risk factor identification is essential in managing CVT, and planned evaluation (clinical or investigations) plays an important role in identifying rare causes that need specific treatment.

OBJECTIVES: Cerebral Venous Thrombosis (CVT) poses diagnostic challenges due to the variability in disease course and symptoms. The prognosis of CVT relies on early diagnosis. Our study focuses on developing a machine learning-based screening algorithm using clinical data from a large neurology referral center in southern Iran. METHODS: The Iran Cerebral Venous Thrombosis Registry (ICVTR code: 9001013381) provided data on 382 CVT cases from Namazi Hospital. The control group comprised of adult headache patients without CVT as confirmed by neuroimaging and was retrospectively selected from those admitted to the same hospital. We collected 60 clinical and demographic features for model development and validation. Our modeling pipeline involved imputing missing values and evaluating four machine learning algorithms: generalized linear model, random forest, support vector machine, and extreme gradient boosting. RESULTS: A total of 314 CVT cases and 575 controls were included. The highest AUROC was reached when imputation was used to estimate missing values for all the variables, combined with the support vector machine model (AUROC = 0.910, Recall = 0.73, Precision = 0.88). The best recall was achieved also by the support vector machine model when only variables with less than 50 % missing rate were included (AUROC = 0.887, Recall = 0.77, Precision = 0.86). The random forest model yielded the best precision by using variables with less than 50 % missing rate (AUROC = 0.882, Recall = 0.61, Precision = 0.94). CONCLUSION: The application of machine learning techniques using clinical data showed promising results in accurately diagnosing CVT within our study population. This approach offers a valuable complementary assistive tool or an alternative to resource-intensive imaging methods.

PURPOSE: Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is often under-recognized on routine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations without concomitant magnetic resonance venography (MRV). Contrast-enhanced black-blood MRI (BBMRI) based on a three-dimensional T1-weighted variable-flip-angle turbo spin echo sequence, one of the sequences used routinely in our practice, has the potential for detection of thrombi in patients with CVT. The aim of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic performance and enhancement patterns of contrast-enhanced three-dimensional BBMRI for the diagnosis of CVT. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Contrast-enhanced BBMRI and contrast-enhanced MRV sequences of 64 patients, acquired from June 2018 to January 2021, were retrospectively reviewed by neuroradiologists for detection of CVT in each venous sinus segment. Diagnostic performance values were calculated for contrast-enhanced BBMRI based on enhancement patterns. RESULTS: Of 749 venous segments from 64 patients analyzed, CVT was demonstrated in 41 venous segments from 12 patients on contrast-enhanced MRV (CE MRV). Thick wall enhancement and total enhancement patterns were dominantly demonstrated in thrombosed segments. Compared with contrast-enhanced MRV, contrast-enhanced BBMRI had a patient-based sensitivity and specificity of 100% and 98.1%, respectively, and a segment-based sensitivity and specificity of 87.8% and 96.2%, respectively. The positive predictive value of contrast-enhanced BBMRI in detecting CVT was 92.3% (patient-based) and 57.1% (segment-based), and the negative predictive value was 100% (patient-based) and 99.3% (segment-based). CONCLUSION: Contrast-enhanced BBMRI has high diagnostic performance in detection and diagnosis of CVT. This sequence may be useful to recognize CVT when dedicated CE MRV was not performed in patients with nonspecific neurological symptoms.

OBJECTIVES: Cerebral venous thrombosis is an uncommon, yet life-threatening condition, affecting mainly young and middle-aged individuals. Moreover, it represents an underrecognised etiology of lobar intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). The clinical course of CVT is variable in the first days after diagnosis and medical complications including pulmonary embolism (PE) may result in early neurological deterioration and death if left untreated. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Case report. RESULTS: We describe a 46-year-old man with acute left hemiparesis and dysarthria in the context of lobar ICH due to underlying CVT of Trolard vein. Diagnosis was delayed because of misinterpretation of the initial neuroimaging study. Subsequently, the patient rapidly deteriorated and developed submassive PE and left iliofemoral venous thrombosis in the setting of previously undiagnosed hereditary thrombophilia (heterozygous prothrombin gene mutation G2021A). Emergent aspiration thrombectomy was performed resulting in the successful management of PE. A follow-up MRI study confirmed the thrombosed Trolard vein, thus establishing the CVT diagnosis. Anticoagulation treatment was immediately escalated to enoxaparine therapeutic dose resulting in clinical improvement of neurological deficits. CONCLUSIONS: Delayed diagnosis of cerebral venous thrombosis with underlying causes of lobar ICH may result in dire complications. Swift initiation of anticoagulants is paramount even in patients with lobar intracerebral hemorrhage as the initial manifestation of cerebral venous thrombosis.

PURPOSE: To examine the relationship between hyperdense artery sign (HAS)/susceptibility vessel sign (SVS) and thrombus composition and evaluate the effect of HAS/SVS status on the association between first-line thrombectomy techniques and outcomes in patients with acute anterior circulation large vessel occlusion (LVO). MATERIALS AND METHODS: From January 2018 to June 2021, 103 consecutive patients with acute anterior circulation LVO (75 [63.1%] men; median age, 66 years) who underwent thrombectomy and for whom the removed clot was available for histological analyses were retrospectively reviewed. The presence of HAS and SVS was assessed on unenhanced computed tomography (CT) and susceptibility-weighted imaging, respectively. Association of first-line thrombectomy techniques (stent retriever [SR] combined with contact aspiration [CA] vs CA alone) with outcomes was assessed according to HAS/SVS status. RESULTS: Among the included patients, 55 (53.4%) were HAS/SVS-negative, and 69 (67.0%) underwent first-line SR + CA. Higher relative densities of fibrin/platelets (0.56 vs 0.51; P < .001) and lower relative densities of erythrocytes (0.32 vs 0.42; P < .001) were observed in HAS/SVS-negative patients compared with HAS/SVS-positive patients. First-line SR + CA was associated with reduced odds of distal embolization (adjusted odds ratio, 0.18; 95% CI, 0.04-0.83; P = .027) and a more favorable 90-day functional outcome (adjusted odds ratio, 5.29; 95% CI, 1.06-26.34; P = .042) in HAS/SVS-negative patients and a longer recanalization time (53 vs 25 minutes; P = .025) and higher risk of subarachnoid hemorrhage (24.2% vs 0%; P = .044) in HAS/SVS-positive patients. CONCLUSIONS: Absence of HAS/SVS may indicate a higher density of fibrin/platelets in the thrombus, and first-line SR + CA yielded superior functional outcomes than CA alone in patients with acute LVO without HAS/SVS.

OBJECTIVES: To identify the factors associated with venous collaterals in Thai patients with cerebral venous thrombosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective 20-year cohort study enrolled patients diagnosed with cerebral venous thrombosis between January 2002 and December 2022. Data was collected from the electronic medical record, and venous collaterals were independently reviewed by two neuroradiologists using the Qureshi classification. Patients with and without venous collaterals were compared. Significant factors (P<0.05) in the univariate analysis were recruited into the multivariate logistic regression analysis to determine independently associated factors. RESULTS: Among 79 patients with cerebral venous thrombosis, the prevalence of venous collaterals at the initial neuroimaging was 25.3%. In the univariate analysis, patients with cerebral venous thrombosis and venous collaterals were significantly younger (37.0±13.9 years vs. 44.9±17.4 years, P = 0.048), more often had occlusion in the superior sagittal sinus (80.0% vs. 54.2%, P = 0.041), and were associated with hormonal exposure (35.0% vs. 6.8%, P = 0.002). Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed occlusion in the superior sagittal sinus (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 3.581; 95% confidence interval [95% CI] 1.941-13.626; P = 0.044) and hormonal exposure (aOR 7.276, 95% CI 1.606-32.966, P = 0.010) as independent factors associated with venous collaterals in cerebral venous thrombosis. CONCLUSIONS: In this cohort, the prevalence of venous collaterals was 25.3%. Occlusion in the superior sagittal sinus and hormonal exposure were independently associated with venous collaterals in patients with cerebral venous thrombosis.

PURPOSE: Intracranial hypertension (IH) frequently complicates cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT). Distinct neuroimaging findings are associated with IH, yet their discriminative power, reversibility and factors favoring normalization in prospective CVT patients are unknown. We determined test performance measures of neuroimaging signs in acute CVT patients, their longitudinal change under anticoagulation, association with IH at baseline and with recanalization at follow-up. METHODS: We included 26 consecutive acute CVT patients and 26 healthy controls. Patients were classified as having IH based on CSF pressure > 25 cmH2O and/or papilledema on ophthalmological examination or ocular MRI. We assessed optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD), optic nerve tortuousity, bulbar flattening, lateral and IVth ventricle size, pituitary configuration at baseline and follow-up, and their association with IH and venous recanalization. RESULTS: 46% of CVT patients had IH. ONSD enlargement > 5.8 mm, optic nerve tortuousity and pituitary grade ≥ III had highest sensitivity, ocular bulb flattening and pituitary grade ≥ III highest specificity for IH. Only ONSD reliably discriminated IH at baseline. Recanalization was significantly associated with regressive ONSD and pituitary grade. Other neuroimaging signs tended to regress with recanalization. After treatment, 184.9 ± 44.7 days after diagnosis, bulbar flattening resolved, whereas compared with controls ONSD enlargement (p < 0.001) and partially empty sella (p = 0.017), among other indicators, persisted. CONCLUSION: ONSD and pituitary grading have a high diagnostic value in diagnosing and monitoring CVT-associated IH. Given their limited sensitivity during early CVT and potentially persistent alterations following IH, neuroimaging indicators can neither replace CSF pressure measurement in diagnosing IH, nor determine the duration of anticoagulation.

INTRODUCTION: The awareness of nonocclusive thrombus has increased with the increasing frequency of imaging methods used for acute ischemic stroke; however, the best treatment for nonocclusive thrombi is still unknown. In this study, we examined how anticoagulants affect supra-aortic artery nonocclusive thrombus and clinical outcomes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study included 52 patients with transient ischemic attack or stroke who were diagnosed with nonocclusive thrombi on computed tomography angiography at admission. Patients were treated with anticoagulant treatment and grouped according to treatment modality (either unfractionated heparin or low molecular weight heparin) and treatment duration. Primary safety outcome was major bleeding defined as immediate and clnically significant hemorrhage. Anticoagulant treatment was continued until the thrombus was resolved as determined by consecutive weekly computed tomography angiography controls. After thrombus resolution, treatment was directed according to the underlying etiology. Antiaggregation treatment was the preferred treatment after thrombus resolution for patients with no observed etiology. RESULTS: The affected internal carotid arteries were most frequently located in the cervical segment (48 %). Complete resolution was achieved within 2 weeks in 50 patients (96 %). The involved vasculature included the following: the extracranial carotid artery segments (n = 26, 50 %), intracranial ICA segments (n = 10, 19 %), basilar artery segments (n = 8, 15 %) and MCA segments (n = 7, 13 %). The most common underlying pathologies were atherosclerosis (n = 17), atrial fibrillation (n = 17), undetermined embolic stroke (n = 8), dissection (n = 7), and malignancy (n = 2). No symptomatic intra- or extracranial bleeding complications due to anticoagulant use were observed in any patient during the study period. A good functional outcome (modified Rankin scale score 0-2) was achieved in 49 patients (94 %) at 3 months. There was no significant difference between treatment type and duration in terms of reinfarction (p = 0.97 and p = 0.78, respectively). CONCLUSION: Anticoagulant treatment is safe and effective in symptomatic patients with intracranial or extracranial artery nonocclusive thrombus, regardless of the anticoagulant type, thrombus location and size.

OBJECTIVE: The pathogenesis of intracranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (icDAVFs) is controversial. Cerebral vein thrombosis (CVT) and venous hypertension are recognized predisposing factors. This study aimed to evaluate the incidence of association between icDAVF and CVT and describe baseline aggressiveness and clinical outcomes for icDAVFs associated with CVT. The authors also performed a literature review of studies reporting icDAVF associated with CVT. METHODS: Two hundred sixty-three consecutive patients in two university hospitals with confirmed icDAVFs were included. A double-blind imaging review was performed to determine the presence or absence of CVT close or distant to the icDAVF. Location, type (using the Cognard classification), aggressiveness of the icDAVF, clinical presentation, treatment modality, and clinical and/or angiographic outcomes at 6 months were also collected. All prior brain imaging was analyzed to determine the natural history of onset of the icDAVF. RESULTS: Among the 263 included patients, 75 (28.5%) presented with a CVT concomitant to their icDAVF. For 18 (78.3%) of 23 patients with previous brain imaging available, CVT preceding the icDAVF was proven (6.8% of the overall population). Former/active smoking (OR 2.0, 95% CI 1.079-3.682, p = 0.022) and prothrombogenic status (active inflammation or cancer/coagulation trouble) were risk factors for CVT associated with icDAVF (OR 3.135, 95% CI 1.391-7.108, p = 0.003). One hundred eighty-seven patients (71.1%) had a baseline aggressive icDAVF, not linked to the presence of a CVT (p = 0.546). Of the overall population, 11 patients (4.2%) presented with spontaneous occlusion of their icDAVF at follow-up. Seven patients (2.7%) died during the follow-up period. Intracranial DAVF + CVT was not associated with a worse prognosis (modified Rankin Scale score at 3-6 months: 0 [interquartile range {IQR} 0-1] for icDAVF + CVT vs 0 [IQR 0-0] for icDAVF alone; p = 0.055). CONCLUSIONS: This was one of the largest studies focused on the incidence of CVT associated with icDAVF. For 6.8% of the patients, a natural history of CVT leading to icDAVF was proven, corresponding to 78.3% of patients with previous imaging available. This work offers further insights into icDAVF pathophysiology, aiding in identifying high-risk CVT patients for long-term follow-up imaging. Annual imaging follow-up using noninvasive vascular imaging (CT or MR angiography) for a minimum of 3 years after the diagnosis of CVT should be considered in high-risk patients, i.e., smokers and those with prothrombogenic status.

OBJECTIVES: To assess outcomes and complications of patients with cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT). METHODS: This multicenter retrospective study was conducted at 2 health care centers in Saudi Arabia and Oman. Adult patients diagnosed with CVT in radiological imaging between 2006 and 2020 were included. Data were collected from medical records and analyzed using the software IBM® SPSS version 22. Neurological disability occurring after CVT was graded according to the modified Rankin scale (mRS). RESULTS: The study included 103 patients, of which the majority (68%) were female. The mean age was 39.12±12.96 years. Two-thirds of patients received low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) in acute treatment, while 76% of discharged patients used warfarin. The majority of patients had no or mild neurological disability during follow-up, and 6 patients had an mRS score ≥3, implying significant neurological disability. There were 55 patients (52.3%) who had complications from CVT, including seizures in 17 (16.5%) patients and one mortality. Follow-up imaging of 55 patients showed complete thrombus resolution in 20 patients (36%). CONCLUSION: Anticoagulation is the mainstay treatment for CVT patients. Approximately half of patients experience complications. Prospective studies are needed to assess the long-term neurological outcomes in such patients.
