RESUMO

Hg-based chalcogenides possess diverse structures, large nonlinear-optical (NLO) responses, and suitable birefringences, making them potentially suitable for numerous crucial criteria of practical application as infrared (IR) NLO crystals. Here, a new pentanary Hg-based sulfide K2Ba7HgIn4S16 has been discovered by a high-temperature solid-state method. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic P21212 space group, and its one-dimensional structure is constructed by {[In2S7]8-}∞ chains and isolated [HgS4]6- planar quadrilateral units located bewteeen the chains, representing a novel type of chalcogenide. K2Ba7HgIn4S16 exhibits a moderate NLO effect of 0.5 × AGS at 2.1 µm and a high laser-induced damage threshold of ∼5.8 × AGS, as well as a band gap of 2.98 eV, demonstrating that K2Ba7HgIn4S16 is a potential IR NLO material. This work enriches the structural chemistry of chalcogenides and the family of Hg-based IR NLO chalcogenides.

Soybean is an economically important leguminous crop, and pod dehiscence of soybean could cause huge yield loss. In this study, we measured fruit-cracking forces and percentages of dehisced pods for ten soybean accessions, then separated them into two groups as shattering-sensitive (SS) and shattering-resistant (SR) soybeans. Pod transcriptomes from these two groups were analyzed, and 225 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified between SS and SR soybeans. Some of these DEGs have been previously reported to be associated with pod dehiscence in soybean. The expression patterns of selected DEGs were validated by real-time quantitative reverse transcription PCR, which confirmed the expression changes found in RNA-seq analysis. We also de novo identified 246 soybean pod-long intergenic ncRNAs (lincRNAs), 401 intronic lncRNAs, and 23 antisense lncRNAs from these transcriptomes. Furthermore, genes and lincRNAs co-expression network analysis showed that there are distinct expression patterns between SS and SR soybeans in some co-expression modules. In conclusion, we systematically investigated potential genes and molecular pathways as candidates for differences in soybean pod dehiscence and will provide a useful resource for molecular breeding of soybeans.

There is great interest in the incorporation of novel two-dimensional materials into Si-based technologies to realize multifunctional optoelectronic devices via heterogeneous integration. Here, we demonstrate a gate-tunable, self-driven, high-performance broadband phototransistor array based on a PdSe2/Si Schottky junction, which is fabricated by pre-depositing a semi-metallic PdSe2 film on a SOI substrate. In addition, thanks to the zero bandgap of the PdSe2 material and the PdSe2/Si vertical heterostructure, the prepared phototransistor exhibits pronounced photovoltaic properties in a wide spectral range from ultraviolet to near-infrared. The responsivity, specific detectivity and response time of the device at the incident light wavelength of 808 nm are 1.15 A W-1, 9.39 × 1010 Jones, and 27.1/40.3 µs, respectively, which are better than those of previously reported PdSe2-based photodetectors. The photoelectric performance can be further improved by applying an appropriate gate voltage to the phototransistor and the responsivity of the device increases to 1.61 A W-1 at VG = 5 V. We demonstrate the excellent imaging capabilities of a 4 × 4 array image sensor using PdSe2/SOI phototransistors under 375 nm, 532 nm, and 808 nm laser sources.

Diet is one of the most important ways to intervene and promote the health of older adults and reduce all-cause mortality. This study aimed to investigate the association between dietary patterns and all-cause mortality in the Chinese old. This study involved 11,958 subjects aged 65-116 years in the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS) from 2008 to 2018. Dietary patterns were derived from principal component analysis (PCA) with varimax rotation. Four dietary patterns were derived: the 'milk-egg-sugar pattern', 'carnivorous pattern', 'healthy pattern', and 'northeastern pattern'. Cox proportional hazard models were built for males and females separately to estimate the relationship between different dietary patterns and all-cause mortality. After adjusting for all covariates, the milk-egg-sugar pattern played a reverse role in mortality risk in males and females in different quartiles. In the carnivorous pattern, only males in the fourth quartile were observed to have a significantly reduced mortality risk (HR = 0.84 (95% CI: 0.77-0.93)). Both genders benefited from the healthy pattern, which consistently lowered mortality risk across all quartiles (males: HR = 0.87 (95% CI: 0.84-0.89); females: HR = 0.95 (95% CI: 0.92-0.97)). The northeastern pattern also showed an inverse association with all-cause mortality in males (HR = 0.94 (95% CI: 0.92-0.97)) and females (HR = 0.96 (95% CI: 0.93-0.98)). This study showed the association between dietary patterns and all-cause mortality in the Chinese old, which is significant for further quantitative studies.

As the main allergenic food, shrimp can trigger allergic reactions in various degrees. In this study, arginine kinase (AK) was identified as an allergen in Oratosquilla oratoria by LC-MS/MS. The open reading frame of AK was obtained, which included 356 amino acids, and recombinant AK (rAK) was expressed in Escherichia coli. The results of immunological analysis and circular dichroism showed that rAK displayed similar IgG-/IgE-binding activity and structure as native AK. Besides, five IgE linear epitopes of AK were verified by serological analysis, on the basis of which an epitope-deleted derivative was obtained and named as mAK-L. It has been shown that mAK-L displayed hypo-immunoreactivity compared to rAK, and the contents of secondary structures were different. In conclusion, these discoveries enrich the overall understanding of crustacean allergens and epitopes and set the foundations for food allergy diagnosis and immunotherapy.

Bovine diarrhea is a multi-factorial disease and remains one of the biggest health problems in animal husbandry. The endemic trends of the main pathogens responsible for bovine diarrhea in Inner Mongolia have not been analyzed systematically before. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to estimate the prevalence of bovine diarrhea pathogens found in the scattered households of Inner Mongolia in China. Additionally, we assessed for differences in the prevalence of infection based on age and region, as well as determined local prevalence rates and the rates of mixed infections. Using a two-stage random sampling strategy, 3,050 serum samples were collected from 72 bovine herds in 11 leagues and cities in Inner Mongolia, and the positive rates of BVDV, BRV, BCoV, K99, and Mycobacterium paratuberculosis (M. paratuberculosis) antibodies in the samples were detected by ELISA to determine the epidemic trends and epidemic differences of the five pathogens in Inner Mongolia. The positive rates of antibodies based on serum samples were: BVDV, 18.79% (95% CI [17.44-20.22]); BRV, 12.39% (95% CI [11.27-13.61]); BCoV, 12.82% (95% CI [11.68-14.05]); K99, 13.80% (95% CI [12.62-15.07]); and M. paratuberculosis, 10.79% (95% CI [9.74-11.94]). The prevalence rates of BRV, BCoV and K99 at 0-2 months were significantly different from that at 2-6 months, 6-18 months and adult cattle (P < 0.05). The prevalence of BVDV and M. paratuberculosis was the highest in adult cattle, which was significantly different from that in other age groups (P < 0.05). Furthermore, obvious regional epidemiological differences among the five diseases were observed. There was a mixed infection of BRV+BCoV in each age stage, the highest mixed infection being BVDV+BRV+K99 at 0-2 months of age. Our results showed that the cattle of scattered households in the Inner Mongolia of China were endemicly infected with several important cattle pathogens. Most of the pathogens studied occurred between 0-2 months of age and were mixed infections, which greatly influences the health of the cattle and leads to economic loss. These findings are of practical significance for the future prevention and control of bovine diarrhea in the Inner Mongolia or other regions of China.

RESUMO

To explore the efficacy and safety of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) as a treatment approach for ulcerative colitis (UC), a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials was conducted. To collect and evaluate randomized controlled trials of high quality on FMT for UC, we searched a number of databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane, Embase, and Medline, for studies published between the establishment of the databases and March 2023. We conducted a meta-analysis of the studies using Review Manager software (version 5.4.1) to determine the differences in rates of remission and adverse reactions between the FMT group and the control group, utilizing the risk ratio (RR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) to combine our findings. A total of 13 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the efficacy of FMT in patients with UC were included in the study, in which 580 patients participated, including 293 patients treated with FMT and 287 control subjects. Meta-analysis revealed that clinical remission was significantly better in the FMT group than in the control group [RR = 1.73; 95% CI = (1.41, 2.12); P < 0.00001]; endoscopic remission was significantly better in the FMT group than in the control group [RR = 1.74; 95% CI = (1.24, 2.44); P = 0.001]. Additionally, there were no significant differences in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups [RR = 1.00; 95% CI = (0.86, 1.15); P = 0.96]. Fecal microbiota transplantation has shown potential as a therapeutic intervention for inducing clinical remission in ulcerative colitis UC; nevertheless, the attainment of endoscopic remission and the maintenance of long-term remission continue to present challenges. Safety concerns persist throughout the treatment process, necessitating the implementation of measures to augment both safety and success rates.

Filamin C is an allergen of Scylla paramamosain (Scy p 9), and six IgE linear epitopes of the allergenic predominant region had previously been validated. However, the IgE epitope and structure-allergenicity relationship of Scy p 9 are unclear. In this study, a hydrophobic bond was found to be an important factor of conformation maintaining. The critical amino acids in the six predicted conformational epitopes were mutated, and the IgE-binding capacity and surface hydrophobicity of four mutants (E216A, T270A, Y699A, and V704A) were reduced compared to Scy p 9. Ten linear epitopes were verified with synthetic peptides, among which L-AA187-205 had the strongest IgE-binding capacity. In addition, IgE epitopes were mapped in the protruding surface of the tertiary structure, which were conducive to binding with IgE and exhibited high conservation among filamin genes. Overall, these data provided a basis for IgE epitope mapping and structure-allergenicity relationship of Scy p 9.

Filamin C (FLN c) is a novel allergen in shellfish. In this study, FLN c from Scylla paramamosain was divided into three regions for recombinant expression based on the number of domains and amino acids. Using dot blot and basophil activation tests, the allergic predominant region of FLN c was determined to be 336-531 amino acid positions (named FLN c-M). It was confirmed that by X-ray diffraction, the crystal structure of FLN c-M with immunoglobulin-like folding at a resolution of 1.7 Å was obtained. The monomer was a barrel structure composed of 16 ß-strands and 2 α-helices. Three conformational epitopes were predicted, six linear epitopes were verified by serological test, and they were positioned on the crystal structure of FLN c-M. For the first time, the crystal structure of the allergic predominant region of FLN c was determined, and it provided an accurate template for the localization of IgE epitopes.

Since China's launch of the COVID-19 vaccination, the situation of the public, especially the mobile population, has not been optimistic. We investigated 782 factory workers for whether they would get a COVID-19 vaccine within the next 6 months. The participants were divided into a training set and a testing set for external validation conformed to a ratio of 3:1 with R software. The variables were screened by the Lead Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regression analysis. Then, the prediction model, including important variables, used a multivariate logistic regression analysis and presented as a nomogram. The Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve, Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S) test, Lift test and Population Stability Index (PSI) were performed to test the validity and stability of the model and summarize the validation results. Only 45.54% of the participants had vaccination intentions, while 339 (43.35%) were unsure. Four of the 16 screened variables-self-efficacy, risk perception, perceived support and capability-were included in the prediction model. The results indicated that the model has a high predictive power and is highly stable. The government should be in the leading position, and the whole society should be mobilized and also make full use of peer education during vaccination initiatives.

OBJECTIVE: Interpersonal theories of suicide suggest that the Interpersonal Needs Questionnaire (INQ) can be used to measure suicidal ideation, but few studies have focused on migrant people, a group with a high prevalence of suicidal ideation. The aim of this study was to validate the psychometric properties of the INQ-15 and its prediction of suicidal ideation among migrant industrial workers in China. METHOD: A stratified multi-stage sample of 2023 industrial workers was recruited from 16 factories in Shenzhen, China. There were 1805 nonlocal workers, which we defined as migrant workers with a mean age of 32.50 ± 8.43 years old who were 67.3% male. The structure of the Chinese version of the INQ-15 and its correlation and predictive utility for suicidal ideation were examined through factor analysis, the Item Response Theory, the M2 test, logistic regression, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. RESULTS: Different from studies among various samples in which a two-factor solution is identified, results within this sample indicated three factors: perceived burdensomeness, thwarted belongingness, and social isolation. The model fit statistics of three-factor INQ were 0.075 for RMSEA, 0.945 for CFI, 0.932 for TLI, and 0.067 for SRMR. The model standard estimated factor loadings ranged from 0.366 to 0.869. The summed scores of INQ and perceived burdensomeness predicted suicidal ideation after controlling for sociodemographic characteristics such as age, gender, and income with AUC of 0.733 (95% CI: 0.712/0.754) and 0.786 (95% CI: 0.766/0.804). In the meantime, the comparison of the predictive ability between INQ total scores and PB scores was significant with p < 0.05. CONCLUSION: The INQ has good psychometric properties and can be used to assess how migrant workers living in the Shenzhen perceive meeting interpersonal psychological needs and shows good predictive ability of suicidal ideation. Perceived burdensomeness appears to play a role in suicide and may be a point of intervention, yet the notable deviation from previous findings and the relative weakness of two of the other factors warrant further study.

It is crucial to compare the difference and applicability of different haze discrimination methods and its criteria in haze study. Due to the requirement of methods and limitation of data, 4 common methods in two views of regional and temporal in one site are analyzed and studied. Based on the meteorological data from 38 observatories from 1980-2009, haze-day and haze-hour number are both counted for each station, employing Method 1 and 2 (with daily mean observation) and Method 3 (with 14:00 observation). The characteristics and applicability of these three methods are also compared and summarized. Statistical results via these methods are all capable to represent the long-term trend of haze, but haze-day numbers counted via these methods show differences, which become less remarkable with decadal changes. Haze days are the most by using Method 1. Method 3 considering the weather phenomenon is more reasonable than Method 1 and 2. According to the data of visibility, relative humidity and PM2.5 concentration in northern Nanjing from May, 2012 to April, 2013, employing 4 haze discrimination methods including the additional one (QX/T 113-2010, i. e. Method 4) , haze-day and haze-hour numbers are counted and compared. The result shows that: the haze-day number obtained employing Method 3 is less than others, while the haze-day number obtained employing Method 4 is between those with Method 1 and 3; using all Methods but Method 3 can distinguish the severity of haze significantly.
