RESUMO

After a careful description of the surgical method according to Regnauld for the bloody treatment of valgus big toe, followed by them since 1974, the Authors show their casuistry. The results are considered from the aesthetic and functional standpoint; the single patients' opinion is also reported. The Authors, as a conclusion, declare themselves satisfied pith this method, which not only gives excellent aesthetic and functional results, but also caused no relapses.

RESUMO

The writers present a case of eosinophil granuloma of the scapula. This is extremely rare at this site. They describe the clinical course, the unusual radiographic appearances, and the complete functional recovery following local resection.

RESUMO

Goltz's syndrome (focal dermal hypoplasia) is a rare congenital disease only 50 cases of which have been recorded in the literature. Complex changes in the skin and the skeleton occur in this disease. Although the bone changes have been described in nearly all reported cases, these have only been reported in the orthopaedic literature in one case (Lynch, 1981) in which the disease was accompanied by an aneurysmal bone cyst in the pelvis. The disease is hereditary but is not sex-linked, although all the reported cases have been female. This is because the disease is lethal in males during gestation (Gorlin et al., 1963). The case reported by us, however, brought her pregnancy to term and gave birth to a male infant with no malformations either of the bones or the skin.

RESUMO

This paper shows the results obtained when two methods for teaching intrabucal periapical technique were fested. During 1986, the 3rd term students applied the suggested table for vertical angulation when taking periapical radiographs; in 1987, during 5th term, the same students used the bisecting-angle technique for the intrabucal radiographs. The comparison of both teaching methods lead to the following conclusions: The most frequent errors observed were due to technique, followed by incorrect film processing; Inadequate vertical angulation was observed mainly when the suggested tables were used; this error was reduced when bisecting-angle technique was used. errors in film mounting were negligible. The standardization of dark room procedures as well as the utilization of time-temperature method after an adequate X-ray exposure of the films were certainly responsible for the small number of errors due to film processing.
