RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the prognostic value of coronary CT angiography (CCTA) in heart failure patients with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). METHODS: Between January 2009 and December 2013, 6497 participants (mean age 63 ± 9.4 [range 32-86] years; 4111 men) who underwent CCTA and echocardiography were prospectively included. Participants were divided into HFpEF group and without HFpEF group. The primary endpoint was major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs), including cardiovascular mortality, nonfatal myocardial infarction (MI), or hospitalization for heart failure (HF). RESULTS: Among those participants, 3096 were identified with HFpEF and 3401 were without HFpEF. Higher prevalence of coronary atherosclerosis was observed in HFpEF group than those without (78.3% vs. 64.9%, p < 0.001). During a median of 11.0 [IQR: 9.0-12.0] years follow-up, participants with HFpEF exhibit a heightened risk of MACEs in CAD-RADS = 0, 1-2, and ≥ 3 respectively (p < 0.001 for all). In the risk-adjusted hazard analysis among participants with HFpEF, CAD-RADS = 1-2 increased a 2.5-time risk for non-fatal MI (adjusted HR: 2.5, 95% CI: 1.5 to 4.3, p < 0.001), while CAD-RADS ≥ 3 conferred 3.9-fold and 3.1-fold higher risk for cardiovascular mortality (adjusted HR: 3.9, 95% CI: 2.2 to 7.1, p < 0.001) and hospitalization due to HF (adjusted HR: 3.1, 95% CI: 1.9 to 5.3, p < 0.001) with reference to CAD-RADS = 0 respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Coronary artery disease is common in participants with HFpEF and associated with MACEs. Among those participants, the presence of CAD-RADS = 1-2 increased the risk of nonfatal MI, while CAD-RADS ≥ 3 were correlated with cardiovascular mortality and hospitalization due to HF. KEY POINTS: • Higher median of CACS and higher CAD-RADS categories were observed in the HFpEF group than those without (p < 0.001 for both). • Participants with HFpEF exhibit a heightened risk of MACEs in CAD-RADS = 0, 1-2, and ≥ 3 respectively (p < 0.001 for all). • In the risk-adjusted hazard analysis among participants with HFpEF, CAD-RADS =1-2 increased a 2.5-time risk for non-fatal MI (adjusted HR: 2.5, 95% CI: 1.5 to 4.3, p < 0.001) with reference to CAD-RADS = 0 respectively.

RESUMO

AIMS: To determine psychological symptoms of patients with mild symptoms of coronavirus disease 2019 in China and to explore the influencing factors. DESIGN: A cross-sectional study. METHODS: A convenience sample of 296 mild coronavirus disease 2019 patients were recruited from a Fangcang hospital in Wuhan, Hubei Province, from 3-5 March, 2020. Participants were assessed using a sociodemographic and clinical characteristics questionnaire, and Symptom Check List 90. The binary logistic regression was utilized to explore the influencing factors of psychological symptoms of patients with mild symptoms of coronavirus disease 2019. RESULTS: In total, 296 of 299 patients with mild symptoms of coronavirus disease 2019 participated in the study (response rate: 99.0%). The findings revealed that 12.8% patients with mild symptoms have mental health problems; the most common psychological symptoms are phobic anxiety (58.4%), paranoid ideation (50.7%) and psychoticism (40.2%). Female patients [OR = 3.587, 95% CI (1.694-7.598)] and those having physical symptoms currently [OR = 2.813, 95% CI (1.210-6.539)] are at higher risk, while those in the middle duration of hospitalization [OR = 0.278, 95% CI (0.121-0.639)] protect against mental-health problems. CONCLUSIONS: The minority of patients with mild symptoms of coronavirus disease 2019 were still suffering from psychological symptoms. Healthcare providers are recommended to pay particular attention to screening these high-risk groups (women, those in the initial stages of hospitalization and those with physical symptoms currently) and implement targeted psychological care as required. IMPACT: This study found that most patients of coronavirus disease 2019 in Fangcang hospital exhibited normal mental health at par with the general Chinese norm and the minority of them were suffering from psychological symptoms. The findings can provide a reference for healthcare providers to screen high-risk psychological symptoms groups and implement targeted psychological intervention for patients with coronavirus disease 2019.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To study the association of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene polymorphism with susceptibility to bronchial asthma and glucocorticoid (GC) efficacy in children. METHODS: A total of 173 children with bronchial asthma who were hospitalized between June 2018 and December 2020 were selected as the observation group. The children received aerosol inhalation of GC for three consecutive months. A total of 178 healthy children who underwent physical examination during the same period were selected as the control group. PCR was used to detect the genotypes of the MTHFR C677T for the two groups. The differences in genotype distribution between the two groups were analyzed. Children with different genotypes in the observation group were compared in terms of immunoglobulin E (IgE), interleukin-8 (IL-8), leukotriene B4 (LTB4), lung function, and clinical outcome before and after treatment. RESULTS: TT genotype and T allele were significantly more frequent in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.001). TT/CT genotypes and T allele were independent risk factors for bronchial asthma (OR=6.615 and 7.055 respectively; P<0.001). After GC treatment, the children with CC, CT or TT genotypes experienced significantly decreased levels of IgE, IL-8, and LTB4 and significantly increased forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC), and FEV1/FVC ratio (P<0.001). The children with TT genotype showed significantly lower levels of IL-8 and LTB4 than those with CC genotype, a significantly lower level of LTB4 than those with CT genotype, significantly higher FVC than those with CT genotype, and a significantly higher FEV1/FVC ratio than those with CC genotype (P<0.05). The children with TT genotype had better GC efficacy compared with those with CC genotype (P<0.05). TT genotype was an independent factor for good GC efficacy (OR=2.111, P=0.018). CONCLUSIONS: MTHFR gene polymorphism is associated with asthma susceptibility and GC efficacy in children. Children carrying TT/CT genotypes have a higher risk of developing asthma, and those with TT genotype are more sensitive to GC treatment.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The aims of this study were to determine the best suited magnetic resonance imaging scanning plane, scanning sequence, and imaging modality for the evaluation of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and quantitatively assess the relationship of articular disk position to condyle position. METHODS: One hundred four TMJs in 52 symptom-free heads were examined by magnetic resonance imaging. The best scanning plane, scanning sequence, and scanning parameter were determined according to the imaging time and image quality. Bilateral symmetry of the articular disk and mandibular condyle was measured by using the automatic measurement of 3.0-T GE Excite Signa MR scanner. RESULTS: Fast spin-echo sequence, oblique sagittal imaging plane, and proton density imaging were the best suited scanning sequence, scanning planes, and imaging modality, respectively. The thicknesses of the anterior and posterior bands and for the intermediate zone were not statistically different for both sides. The posterior band of the disk was found to originate in an area adjacent to the 12-o'clock position of the condyle (± 5 degrees), whereas the anterior band of the disk originated adjacent to 1-o'clock position (28 ± 6 degrees). The anteroposterior diameter and mediolateral diameter of the condylar processes were not statistically different for both sides. The axial condylar angle between the plane of the greatest mediolateral diameter of the condylar processes and the midsagittal plane were also not statistically different for both sides. CONCLUSIONS: The magnetic resonance images can depict clearly major regional anatomic structures and position in the TMJ, which can be used in the early diagnosis for the TMJ disorder.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the changes of inflammatory cytokines in autoimmune prostatitis (AIP) rats treated by electro-acupuncture (EA) at Sanyin points. METHODS: We selected 40 Wistar male rats in this study, 10 as normal controls, and the other 30 made AIP models by intradermal injection of protein purification liquid from the prostate of allogeneic male rats with dual immune adjuvant. Then we randomly divided the AIP models into a model, a Cernilton control and an EA group of equal number, the latter two groups treated by Cernilton enema and EA, respectively. After 15 days of treatment, all the animals were sacrificed for detection of the levels of TNF-alpha, iNOS, MDA and T-AOC in the prostate tissue. RESULTS: Compared with the normal controls, the model rats showed significantly elevated TNF-alpha expression ([15.31 +/- 1.36] vs [32.20 +/- 1.65] pg/ml, P < 0.01), iNOS activity ([0.81 +/- 0.33] vs [1.25 +/- 0.23] U/ml, P < 0.01) and MDA content ([0.66 +/- 0.14] vs [0.91 +/- 0.21] nmol/ml, P < 0.05), but markedly reduced T-AOC activity ([1.56 +/- 0.16] vs [1.11 +/- 0.15] U/ml, P < 0.01). In comparison with the model group, the EA group exhibited significantly reduced levels of TNF-alpha ([17.32 +/- 2.69 ] pg/ml, P < 0.01), iNOS ([0.98 +/- 0.5 ] U/ml, P < 0.05) and MDA ([0.70 +/- 0.20] nmol/ml, P < 0.05), but remarkably increased level of T-AOC ([1.44 +/- 0.26] U/ml, P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Electro-acupuncture at Sanyin points can protect the prostate tissue from morphological damage and reduce inflammatory reaction by decreasing pro-inflammatory cytokine activity, vascular permeability and inflammatory cell infiltration and increasing the activity of the antioxidant defense system.

RESUMO

One of the major variables affecting yield of the mushroom Agaricus bisporus is the casing layer, which directly affects the productivity and mass. Here, volatile organic compounds were extracted by headspace solid-phase microextraction and high-throughput sequencing was used to analyze the microbial community diversity. The relationship between mushroom yield at different cropping stages and the contents of volatile organic compounds and microorganisms in three different casing layers: peat, peat + soil and soil were systematically evaluated. The result shows that Benzaldehyde and (E)-2-octenal which stimulate yield, obviously increased as mushrooms grew, while 3-octanone, which inhibits yield, decreased over time in all three casing layers. However, there was not a strong correlation between the concentration of volatile compounds and yield. In addition, more than 3,000 bacterial operational taxonomic units (OTUs) by performing high throughput sequencing of the microbes were obtained in the three casing layers. Interestingly, the microbial community compositions were very similar between the three casing layers at a later cropping stage, but the community richness varied significantly in different casing layers and at different cropping stages. At the phylum level, the communities had similar structures but were quantitively very different, and this was even more obvious at the genus level. Principal component analysis revealed significant alterations in microbial community structure in different casing layers. Sphingomonas, Dongia and Achromobacter were the dominant genera at cropping stage 1, and the stage 3 were abundant in Saccharibacteria_norank, Pseudomonas, Flavobacterium and Brevundimonas, which was positively correlated with yield, while the abundance of Pseudomonas at stage 1 and Lactococcus and Bacillus at stage 3 was negatively correlated with yield. These results provide a guide for the development and agricultural application of microbial agents for yield improvement in the production of A. bisporus.

RESUMO

The present study investigates the removal of six selected pharmaceuticals from municipal wastewater in two membrane bioreactors (MBRs) with and without powdered activated carbon (PAC) addition. Two approaches were carried out for obtaining different carbon dosages related to the influent: (1) with a fixed solids retention time (SRT) and varying PAC concentrations; (2) with varying SRTs and a fixed PAC concentration. The results reveal that a PAC dosage related to influent of 21 mg L-1 and SRT of 20 d are optimal. The first approach achieved a better removal performance than the second. The removal of amidotrizoic acid (up to 46%), bezafibrate (>92%) and iopromide (around 85%) were mainly caused by biological process, but were also enhanced by PAC addition. Efficient removal (>95%) of sulfamethoxazole, carbamazepine and diclofenac were highly dependent on the PAC dosage. However, carbamazepine shows re-metabolization properties during biological processing. Decreasing the SRT as done in the second approach, not only increased the PAC amount, but also decreased the mass of activated sludge and reduced the capability to degrade complex organic matter. Consequently, biodegradability and adsorbability played decisive roles in the removal of each compound.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Evaluation of fluid responsiveness during veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) support is crucial. The aim of this study was to investigate whether changes in left ventricular outflow tract velocity-time integral (ΔVTI), induced by a Trendelenburg maneuver, could predict fluid responsiveness during VA-ECMO. METHODS: This prospective study was conducted in patients with VA-ECMO support. The protocol included four sequential steps: (1) baseline-1, a supine position with a 15° upward bed angulation; (2) Trendelenburg maneuver, 15° downward bed angulation; (3) baseline-2, the same position as baseline-1, and (4) fluid challenge, administration of 500 mL gelatin over 15 min without postural change. Hemodynamic parameters were recorded at each step. Fluid responsiveness was defined as ΔVTI of 15% or more, after volume expansion. RESULTS: From June 2018 to December 2019, 22 patients with VA-ECMO were included, and a total of 39 measurements were performed. Of these, 22 measurements (56%) met fluid responsiveness. The R2 of the linear regression was 0.76, between ΔVTIs induced by Trendelenburg maneuver and the fluid challenge. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of ΔVTI induced by Trendelenburg maneuver to predict fluid responsiveness was 0.93 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.81-0.98], with a sensitivity of 82% (95% CI 60-95%), and specificity of 88% (95% CI 64-99%), at a best threshold of 10% (95% CI 6-12%). CONCLUSIONS: Changes in VTI induced by the Trendelenburg maneuver could effectively predict fluid responsiveness in VA-ECMO patients. Trial registration ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT03553459 (the TEMPLE study). Registered on May 30, 2018.

RESUMO

The dark adaptation of drivers' eyes at a tunnel entrance seriously affects traffic safety. This can be improved by the design of tunnel lighting. Light-Emitting Diode (LEDs) have been applied as a new type of luminaire in tunnel lighting in recent years, but at present, there are few studies on the influence of color rendering of LEDs on tunnel traffic safety, and there is no explicit indicator for the selection of appropriate color rendering parameters in tunnel lighting specifications, which has aroused researchers' concern. In this article, several new color rendering evaluation indexes were compared, and as a result, it is considered that CRI2012 (a color difference-based color rendering index) is more suitable for evaluating the color rendering of LEDs used at tunnel entrances. The dark adaptation phenomenon was simulated in the laboratory. Four CRI2012s, three color temperatures and eight colored targets were used in the experiments. The results showed that yellow, silver and white can provide shorter reaction times, while red and brown lead to longer reaction times, which can provide a reference for the design of road and warning signs at tunnel entrances. The effect of target color on reaction time was greater than that of color rendering. Under most target colors, the higher the CRI2012, the shorter the reaction time. When designing the color rendering of the LEDs at a tunnel entrance, the value should thus be as large as possible (close to 100), and a lower color temperature value (about 2800 K) should be selected. This paper provides technical support for tunnel lighting design and a reference for tunnel lighting specifications, which is of significance to improve driving safety and avoid traffic accidents in highway tunnels.

RESUMO

Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (nTiO2 ) have raised environmental concerns and display potential hazards to aquatic organisms and even humans. However, only a few reports tested the toxicity of nTiO2 to rotifers. In the present study, acute and chronic toxicity of nTiO2 to the freshwater rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus was investigated at different temperatures. At 25°C, the 24 and 48-hr LC50 was 117.14 and 60.11 mg/L, respectively. At 15°C, 20°C, 25°C, and 30°C, exposure to nTiO2 significantly decreased life expectancy at birth, net reproductive rate, generation time, average lifespan, and/or intrinsic rate of population increase of B. calyciflorus (p < .05). High temperature enhanced the toxicity of nTiO2 to rotifers. The swimming linear speed of rotifers significantly increased (p < .05) in treatments with 200 µg/L nTiO2 , compared with the control. In addition, treatments with 8 µg/L to 5 mg/L nTiO2 significantly increased superoxide dismutase activity (p < .05). Glutathione content and catalase activity increased significantly after exposure to 8 µg/L nTiO2  but decreased significantly in treatments with nTiO2 concentrations ranging from 40 µg/L to 5 mg/L (p < .05). There were no significant changes in malondialdehyde contents among nTiO2 treatments and control. Overall, the present study indicated that nTiO2 revealed high toxicity to rotifers, displaying high environmental risks to aquatic ecosystems.

RESUMO

Dysregulation of microRNA (miRNA) is a frequent event in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but little is known whether it is a bystander or an actual player on residual HCC metastasis during liver microenvironment remodeling initiated by hepatectomy. Methods: The differently expressed miRNAs and mRNAs were identified from RNA-seq data. Western blot, qRT-PCR, fluorescence in situ hybridization, immunofluorescence and immunohistochemical were used to detect the expression of miRNA and mRNA in cell lines and patient tissues. The biological functions were investigated in vitro and in vivo. Chromatin immunoprecipitation, proximity ligation and luciferase reporter assay were used to explore the specific binding of target genes. The expression of HGF/ERBB3 signaling was detected by Western blot. Results: In this study, HGF induced by hepatectomy was shown to promote metastasis of residual HCC cells. miR-17-5p and miR-20a-5p were confirmed to play inhibitory roles on HCC metastasis. And ERBB3 was found to be the common target of miR-17-5p and miR-20a-5p. HCC cells with lower levels of miR-17-5p and miR-20a-5p or higher level of ERBB3 were often more sensitive to response HGF stimuli and to facilitate metastatic colonization both in vitro and in vivo experimental systems. Furthermore, HGF reinforced ERBB3 expression by NF-κB transcriptional activity in a positive feedback loop. Of particular importance, HCC patients with lower levels of miR-17-5p and miR-20a-5p or higher level of ERBB3 had significantly shorter OS and PFS survivals after surgical resection. Conclusion: miR-17-5p and miR-20a-5p could suppress postoperative metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma via blocking HGF/ERBB3-NF-κB positive feedback loop and offer a new probable strategy for metastasis prevention after HCC resection.

RESUMO

Biochar has been received increasing concerns regarding its environmental effect, which is promising in wastewater treatment. In this study, the performance of ß-cyclodextrin functionalized biochar (ß-BC) on the removal of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in wastewater treatment under the co-stresses of heavy metals and dye is evaluated. Results show that when 20 mg/L heavy metals (HMs) and 150 mg/L methyl orange (MO) are present in daily fed influent, only 0.05 mg/L HMs residual and 96.79%-98.84% MO removal efficiency achieved in ß-BC additive group, compare to 0.16 mg/L and 87.92%-94.11% of that in control, respectively, indicating that ß-BC can benefits the performance of contaminants removal. To evaluate the role of ß-BC plays on ARGs in multi-contaminants stressed system, tet W, tet M, sul-1, sul-2, blaTEM, oxa-1, qnr-S, erm-B and intI-1 are identified. The relative abundance of all identified ARGs are decreased when ß-BC presence compared to the corresponding groups without ß-BC additive. The diversity and composition of microbial community are explored and the reduction of potential antibiotic-resistant bacteria is speculated as a driver of ARGs removal. In conclusion, our study demonstrates that ß-BC possesses the ability to promote the removal of ARGs during continuous wastewater treatment under HMs-MO co-contaminant.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: MicroRNA-612 (miR-612) has been proven to suppress EMT, stemness, and tumor metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) via PI3K/AKT2 and Sp1/Nanog signaling. However, its biological roles on HCC progression are far from elucidated. METHODS: We found direct downstream target of miR-612, hadha by RNA immunoprecipitation and sequencing. To explore its biological characteristic, potential molecular mechanism, and clinical relevance in HCC patients, we performed several in-vitro and in-vivo models, as well as human tissue chip. RESULTS: Ectopic expression of miR-612 could partially reverse the level of HADHA, then suppress function of pseudopods, and diminish metastatic and invasive potential of HCC by lipid reprogramming. In detail, miR-612 might reduce invadopodia formation via HADHA-mediated cell membrane cholesterol alteration and accompanied with the inhibition of Wnt/ß-catenin regulated EMT occurrence. Our results showed that the maximum oxygen consumption rates (OCR) of HCCLM3miR-612-OE and HCCLM3hadha-KD cells were decreased nearly by 40% and 60% of their counterparts (p < 0.05). The levels of acetyl CoA were significantly decreased, about 1/3 (p > 0.05) or 1/2 (p < 0.05) of their controls, in exogenous miR-612 or hadha-shRNA transfected HCCLM3 cell lines. Besides, overexpression of hadha cell lines had a high expression level of total cholesterol, especially 27-hydroxycholesterol (p < 0.005). SREBP2 protein expression level as well as its downstream targets, HMGCS1, HMGCR, MVD, SQLE were all deregulated by HADHA. Meanwhile, the ATP levels were reduced to 1/2 and 1/4 in HCCLM3miR-612-OE (p < 0.05) and HCCLM3hadha-KD (p < 0.01) respectively. Moreover, patients with low miR-612 levels and high HADHA levels had a poor prognosis with shorter overall survival. CONCLUSION: miR-612 can suppress the formation of invadopodia, EMT, and HCC metastasis and by HADHA-mediated lipid programming, which may provide a new insight of miR-612 on tumor metastasis and progression.

RESUMO

The emerging antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) are increasingly appreciated to be as important as microbial contaminants. This paper focused on UV-activated persulfate (UV/PS), an advanced oxidation process, in removing ARB and ARGs from secondary wastewater effluent. Results showed that the inactivation efficiency of macrolides-resistant bacteria (MRB), sulfonamides-resistant bacteria (SRB), tetracyclines-resistant bacteria (TRB) and quinolones-resistant bacteria (QRB) by UV/PS reached 96.6 %, 94.7 %, 98.0 % and 99.9 % in 10 min, respectively. UV/PS also showed significant removal efficiency on ARGs. The reduction of total ARGs reached 3.84 orders of magnitude in UV/PS which is more than that in UV by 0.56 log. Particularly, the removal of mobile genetic elements (MGE) which might favor the horizontal gene transfer of ARGs among different microbial achieved 76.09 % by UV/PS. High-throughput sequencing revealed that UV/PS changed the microbial community. The proportions of Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria that pose human health risks were 4.25 % and 1.6 % less than UV, respectively. Co-occurrence analyzes indicated that ARGs were differentially contributed by bacterial taxa. In UV/PS system, hydroxyl radical and sulfate radical contributed to the removal of bacteria and ARGs. Our study provided a new method of UV/PS to remove ARGs and ARB for wastewater treatment.

RESUMO

The aim of this study was to investigate how vehicle speed influences the characteristics of driver's eye movement at highway tunnel entrances during day and night. In this study, six drivers' eye movement data (from 200 m before tunnel entrance to 200 m inside tunnel entrance) under five predetermined vehicle speeds (40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 km/h) in the daytime and three predetermined vehicle speeds (40, 60 and 80 km/h) in the nighttime were recorded using the non-intrusive Dikablis Professional eye-tracking system. Pupil size, the average fixation duration time and the average number of fixation were analyzed and then the influence of the vehicle speed on these parameters was evaluated by means of IBM SPSS Statistics 20.0. The results for pupil size in daytime increased when approaching the tunnel entrance, while as for nighttime, pupil size decreased when approaching the tunnel entrance and then increased after entering the tunnel. The pupil size in daytime has a significant negative correlation with vehicle speed, while the pupil size in nighttime did not show a significant association with vehicle speed. Furthermore, the average fixation duration in daytime increased when entering the tunnel, and had a significant negative correlation with vehicle speed. Also, the average number of fixations in daytime decreased when entering the tunnel and has a significant negative correlation with vehicle speed. However, the average fixation duration and the average number of fixations in nighttime did not show any significant association with vehicle speed. Moreover, limitations and future directions of the study are discussed for the further investigation.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the pathogen profiles and the use of perioperative antibiotics after surgical site infection (SSI) in pancreas operation. METHOD: We retrospectively analyzed the pathogen profiles and the use of perioperative antibiotics in 48 SSI patients who received pancreas operations from Jan 2001 to Dec 2005. RESULTS: Totally 79 strains of pathogens (74 strains of bacteria) were isolated, including 17 strains of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), 17 strains of enterococcus species, 12 strains of Escherichia species, and 5 strains of enterobacteriaceae. Combination of the third generation of cephalosporins and antianaerobic agents were the main prophylactic therapies, with an average duration of (4.7 +/- 1.2) days. Most SSI episodes happened 6-14 days postoperatively (median 9 days). Celiac infections were most common (n=39). Therapeutic antibiotics gave priority to combined-antibiotics of the third cephalosporins and antianaerobic antibiotics, glycopeptides and carbapenems. CONCLUSIONS: SSI commonly occurs on the 6-14 postoperative day, with MRSA and enterococci as the common pathogens of SSI after pancreas surgery. Antibiotic resistance should be considered when applying prophylactic therapies.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the serum IL-33 and sST2 levels in children with Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP), and explore their clinical significance. METHODS: Total 27 HSP patients and 22 healthy controls were enrolled in present study. The expressions of IL-33 and sST2 were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), the mRNA expression of IL-33 and sST2 were detected in all subjects. RESULTS: The level of the IL-33 in the serum of HSP group and control group was 365.5±160.6 pg/ml and 175.9±92.8 pg/ml(P< 0.05). The level of the sST2 was increased in the serum of HSP group (1788.6±523.8 pg/ml) as compared with that in control group (1083.6±489.6 pg/ml)(P>0.05), but the ratio of sST2/IL-33 in HSP patients was much lower than that in the controls(P<0.05), IL-33 and sST2 mRNA levels were up-regulated in HSP patients by 5.47±1.97-fold(P<0.05) and 3.13±2.01-fold(P<0.05) compared with controls, but sST2/IL-33 significantly decreased in HSP patients(P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The levels of IL-33 and sST2 increase in the serum of HSP patients, but the ratio of sST2/IL-33 is much lower than that in control.
