RESUMO

Since its first release in 2008, Norine remains the unique resource completely devoted to nonribosomal peptides (NRPs). They are very attractive microbial secondary metabolites, displaying a remarkable diversity of structure and functions. Norine (http://bioinfo.lifl.fr/NRP) includes a database now containing more than 1160 annotated peptides and user-friendly interfaces enabling the querying of the database, through the annotations or the structure of the peptides. Dedicated tools are associated for structural comparison of the compounds and prediction of their biological activities. In this paper, we start by describing the knowledgebase and the dedicated tools. We then present some user cases to show how useful Norine is for the discovery of novel nonribosomal peptides.

RESUMO

A total of 13 Borrelia burgdorferi strains (responsible for Lyme borreliosis) and representatives of 3 other Borrelia species (B. hermsii, B. parkeri, B. turicatae) associated with relapsing fever were studied by DNA/DNA hybridization and rRNA gene-restriction patterns. Two genomic DNA hybridization groups were observed which could be differentiated by rRNA gene-restriction patterns. Moreover, the number and size of restriction fragments suggest the existence of a single set of 16 and 23 S rRNA genes in Borrelia.

RESUMO

According to the chronological data of Physio-Pathology of leptospiroses, diagnosis is: Direct: isolation of the germ in the beginning of the acute phase of the disease: blood culture, culture of cerebrospinal fluid, animal inoculation. Identification is the work of a specialized laboratory. Indirect: demonstration of antibodies. Immunological tests are divided into two groups: Screening tests, available for all laboratories: they give an indication of Leptospirosis. They are carried out during the acute phase: slide macroscopic agglutination test, hemagglutination test, complement fixation test. Confirmatory tests, performed only by specialized laboratories. Interpretation is dependent on the case history of the patient.
