OBJECTIVES: MRSA is a major cause of hospital-acquired and community-acquired infections. Treatment options for MRSA are limited because of the rapid development of ß-lactam resistance. Combining antibiotics offers an affordable, time-saving, viable and efficient approach for developing novel antimicrobial therapies. Both amoxicillin and cefdinir are oral ß-lactams with indications for a wide range of bacterial infections and mild side effects. This study aimed to investigate the in vitro and in vivo efficacy of combining these two ß-lactams against MRSA strains. METHODS: Fourteen representative prevalent MRSA strains with diverse sequence types (STs) were tested with a combination of amoxicillin and cefdinir, using chequerboard and time-kill assays. The Galleria mellonella larvae infection model was used to evaluate the in vivo efficacy of this dual combination against the community-acquired MRSA (CA-MRSA) strain USA300 and the hospital-acquired MRSA (HA-MRSA) strain COL. RESULTS: The chequerboard assay revealed a synergistic activity of the dual amoxicillin/cefdinir combination against all tested MRSA strains, with fractional inhibitory concentration index (FICI) values below 0.5 and at least a 4-fold reduction in the MICs of both antibiotics. Time-kill assays demonstrated synergistic bactericidal activity of this dual combination against the MRSA strain USA300 and strain COL. Moreover, in vivo studies showed that the administration of amoxicillin/cefdinir combination to G. mellonella larvae infected with MRSA strains significantly improved the survival rate up to 82%, which was comparable to the efficacy of vancomycin. CONCLUSIONS: In vitro and in vivo studies indicate that the dual combination of amoxicillin/cefdinir demonstrates a synergistic bactericidal efficacy against MRSA strains of various STs. Further research is needed to explore its potential as a treatment option for MRSA infections.

Stress is an established risk factor for negative health outcomes. Salivary cortisol and testosterone concentrations increase in response to acute psychosocial stress. It's crucial to reduce stress for health and well-being through evidence-based interventions. Body-mind interventions such as meditation and Tai Chi have shown reduced cortisol levels but mixed results in testosterone concentration after stress. To address this research gap, we conducted a pilot randomized controlled trial to examine the modulating effects of a short-term (seven 20-minute sessions) mindfulness meditation on testosterone and cortisol in response to acute stress. Using one form of mindfulness meditation - Integrative Body-Mind Training (IBMT) and an active control-relaxation training (RT), we assessed salivary cortisol and testosterone concentrations at three stages of stress intervention - rest, stress, and an additional 20-min IBMT or RT practice. We found increased cortisol and testosterone concentrations after acute stress in both groups, but testosterone rise was not associated with cortisol rise. Moreover, an additional practice immediately after stress produced higher testosterone concentrations in the IBMT group than the RT group, whereas cortisol concentration increased in the RT group than in the IBMT group at the same time point. These findings indicate that brief mindfulness intervention modulates a dual-hormone profile of testosterone and cortisol in response to acute stress presumably via the co-regulation of hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal and hypothalamus-pituitary-testicular axes.

RESUMO

Herein we have pioneered an innovative synthetic strategy for the efficient assembly of various heteroarene-condensed benzofuran derivatives, utilizing benzofuran-derived azadienes (BDAs) and quinolines as the starting materials. This method functions with transition-metal catalysis and uses cost-effective formic acid as the reducing agent. Mechanistic investigations indicate that this transformation would involve a [4 + 2] annulation cascade process. This approach demonstrates a high tolerance to various functional groups and yields excellent results.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The RHCE gene plays an important role in the complex and polymorphic Rh blood group system. RHCE genotyping holds significant clinical and transfusion-related implications. The objective of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of RHC/c genotyping in the Chinese Han population. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Blood samples were obtained from 653 Chinese Han blood donors. The serological RhD and RhCcEe types were determined using monoclonal antibodies. Subsequently, multiplex real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis was performed for RHC and RHc genotyping. Additionally, exon 2 of RHCE and exon 1 of RHD were sequenced. RESULTS: The analysis in this study found 443 RhD-positive donors and 210 RhD-negative donors. Among the 653 total donors, discrepancies between the RHC genotyping results and the serological results were found in 37 individuals. Specifically, 6 false-positive RhC results in RhD-positive donors and 28 false-positive RhC results in RhD-negative donors were identified based on c.48C in RHCE exon 1. Additionally, 3 false-negative RhC results were observed in the RhD-positive donors due to a 109 bp insertion in RHCE intron 2. RHc typing demonstrated complete consistency between the real-time PCR and the serological results. CONCLUSION: In the Chinese Han population, RHC genotyping was reliable when consistent results were achieved by both c.48C-based and 109 bp insertion-based genotyping. Moreover, RHc genotyping based on c.203A and c.307C polymorphic loci demonstrated dependable performance.

BACKGROUND: Y-STR polymorphisms are useful in tracing genealogy and understanding human origins and migration history. This study aimed to fill a knowledge gap in the genetic diversity, structure, and haplogroup distribution of the Han and Manchu populations from the three northeastern provinces in China (Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang). METHODS: A total of 1,048 blood samples were collected from unrelated males residing in Dalian. Genotyping was performed using the AGCU Y37 + 5 Amplification Kit, and the genotype data were analyzed to determine allele and haplotype frequencies, genetic and haplotype diversity, discrimination capacity, and haplotype match probability. Population pairwise genetic distances (Fst) were calculated to compare the genetic relationships among Han and Manchu populations from Northeast China and other 23 populations using 27 Yfiler Plus loci set. Multi-dimensional scaling and phylogenetic analysis were employed to visualize the genetic relationships among the 27 populations. Moreover, haplogroups were predicted based on 27 Yfiler Plus loci set. RESULTS: The Han populations from Northeast China exhibited genetic affinities with both Han populations from the Central Plain and the Sichuan Qiang population, despite considerable geographical distances. Conversely, the Manchu population displayed a relatively large genetic distance from other populations. The haplogroup analysis revealed the prevalence of haplogroups E1b1b, O1b, O2, and Q in the studied populations, with variations observed among different ethnic groups. CONCLUSION: The study contributes to our understanding of genetic diversity and history of the Han and Manchu populations in Northeast China, the genetic relationships between populations, and the intricate processes of migration, intermarriage, and cultural integration that have shaped the region's genetic landscape.

Here we report one-pot cycloadditions of ethynyl indoloxazolidones with 1,3-cyclohexanediones enabled by copper catalysis, leading to a series of functionalized furan derivatives in good yields. This method features mild reaction conditions, high efficiency, and wide substrate scope.

The visible-light-promoted difunctionalization of alkenyl ketones has been developed for easy access of various tetralones, cyclopropane, or alkenyl migration compounds. With fac-[Ir(ppy)3] as the photocatalyst, alkenyl ketones captured the α-carbonyl alkyl radical and evolved through intramolecular cyclization and the elimination of a proton to give the difunctionalized products. This strategy is characterized by good yields, mild reaction conditions, and outstanding functional group tolerance.

Polymyxin-based combination therapy is commonly used to treat carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) infections. In the present study, the bactericidal effect of polymyxin B and minocycline combination was tested in three CRAB strains containing blaOXA-23 by the checkerboard assay and in vitro dynamic pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) model. The combination showed synergistic or partial synergistic effect (fractional inhibitory concentration index ≤0.56) on the tested strains in checkboard assays. The antibacterial activity was enhanced in the combination group compared with either monotherapy in in vitro PK/PD model. The combination regimen (simultaneous infusion of 0.75 mg/kg polymyxin B and 100 mg minocycline via 2 h infusion) reduced bacterial colony counts by 0.9-3.5 log10 colony forming units per milliliter (CFU/mL) compared with either drug alone at 24 h. In conclusion, 0.75 mg/kg polymyxin B combined with 100 mg minocycline via 2 h infusion could be a promising treatment option for CRAB bloodstream infections.

AIMS: To optimize the dosing regimen in patients with severe renal impairment based on population pharmacokinetic (PPK)/pharmacodynamic analysis. METHODS: The pharmacokinetics and safety of nemonoxacin was evaluated in a single-dose, open-label, nonrandomized, parallel-group study after single oral dose of a 0.5-g nemonoxacin capsule in 10 patients with severe renal impairment and 10 healthy controls. Both blood and urine samples were collected within 72 hours after admission and determined the concentrations. A PPK model was built using nonlinear mixed effects modelling. The probability of target attainment and the cumulative fraction of response against Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus was calculated by Monte Carlo simulation. RESULTS: The data best fitted a 2-compartment model, from which the PPK parameters were estimated, including clearance (8.55 L/h), central compartment volume (80.8 L) and peripheral compartment volume (50.6 L). The accumulative urinary excretion was 23.4 ± 6.5% in severe renal impairment patients and 66.1 ± 16.8% in healthy controls. PPK/pharmacodynamic modelling and simulation of 4 dosage regimens found that nemonoxacin 0.5 g every 48 hours (q48h) was the optimal dosing regimen in severe renal impairment patients, evidenced by higher probability of target attainment (92.7%) and cumulative fraction of response (>99%) at nemonoxacin minimum inhibitory concentration ≤ 1 mg/L against S. pneumoniae and S. aureus. The alternative regimens (0.25 g q24h; loading dose 0.5 g on Day 1 followed by 0.25 g q24h) were insufficient to cover the pathogens even if minimum inhibitory concentration = 1 mg/L. CONCLUSION: An extended dosing interval (0.5 g q48h) may be appropriate for optimal efficacy of nemonoxacin in case of severe renal impairment.

PURPOSES: To evaluate the effects of component contents in different colistin methanesulfonate (CMS) formulas on their clinical pharmacokinetics of the prodrug CMS and the formed colistin. METHODS: Two CMS formulas (CTTQ and Parkedale) were investigated in a single dose, randomized, open-label, crossover study conducted in 18 healthy Chinese subjects. Both CMS formulas met the requirements of European Pharmacopoeia 9.2 with 12.1% difference in the two major active components (CMS A and CMS B). The PK parameters after a single intravenous infusion of CMS at 2.5 mg/kg were calculated and the steady-state plasma colistin concentrations (Css,avg) following multiple dosing, once every 12 h for 7 days, were simulated with the non-compartment model. RESULTS: The systemic exposure (AUC0-inf) of CMS were 59.49 ± 5.90 h·µg/mL and 51.09 ± 4.70 h·µg/mL, and the AUC0-inf of colistin were 15.39 ± 2.63 h·µg/mL and 12.36 ± 2.10 h·µg/mL for CTTQ and Parkedale, respectively. The ratios (90% CI) of geometric mean of AUC0-inf of CTTQ to Parkedale were 116.38% (112.95%, 119.91%) and 124.49% (120.76%, 128.35%) for CMS and colistin, respectively. The predicted Css,avg (95% CI) were 0.92 (0.85, 0.99) µg/mL and 0.74 (0.69, 0.79) µg/mL for CTTQ and Parkedale, respectively. CONCLUSION: The difference in component content in the two CMS formulas had a significant (P < 0.001) impact on the systemic exposure of colistin in human, thus, warranted essential considerations in clinical applications.

BACKGROUND: DEL is the weakest known D-positive phenotype and is detectable only by adsorption and elution tests. RHD c.1227G>A is an important marker for DEL phenotype in East Asians. The aim of this study was to develop a method for RHD c.1227G>A genotyping by single-tube PCR with melting curve analysis. METHODS: Two GC-rich tails of different lengths were attached to the 5'-end of allele-specific primers for RHD 1227G and 1227A alleles, such that RHD c.1227G>A could be distinguished by the melting temperature. A total of 145 D-negative Chinese Han blood donors were genotyped for RHD c.1227G>A by melting curve analysis, conventional polymerase chain reaction with sequence-specific primers (PCR-SSP), and sequencing. RESULTS: In 143 subjects (143/145, 98.6%), PCR-SSP and melting curve analysis produced consistent results with RHD exon 9 sequencings. Two samples were genotyped as RHD 1227G/A by PCR-SSP, but as RHD 1227A/A or A/- by melting curve analysis. These two samples were confirmed to be RHD 1227A/A or A/-. Based on RHD exon 9 sequencing, the accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of the melting curve analysis for detecting both RHD 1227A and 1227G were all 100%. In contrast, the accuracy, specificity and positive predictive value of PCR-SSP for RHD 1227G detection were 98.62%, 98.21% and 94.29%, respectively, which were lower than those observed with the melting curve analysis. CONCLUSION: Melting curve analysis for RHD c.1227G>A genotyping is a simple, rapid, and reliable method, superior to conventional PCR-SSP.

BACKGROUND: Chinese blood donors with unconfirmed serological and/or molecular screening results are deferred permanently. This study investigated the implementation and performance of a follow-up program aiming to improve the notification and management of deferred donors in Dalian, China. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS: From January 2013 to February 2018, 411,216 donations were tested for HBsAg, anti-HCV, anti-HIV/HIV antigen, and antibodies to Treponema pallidum. HBV, HCV, and HIV nucleic acid testing (NAT) was performed in mini-pools of six or in individual donations (IDs). Reactive donations were evaluated further with alternative serological assays and ID-NAT re-testing. A follow-up procedure was developed to evaluate a subset of deferred donors that were either potential NAT yield cases, serology non-reactive and NAT non-repeated reactive (NRR), or serology NRR irrespective of NAT result. RESULTS: Serological and molecular routine, plus supplemental testing, identified HBV, HCV, HIV, and TP in 503 (0.12%), 392 (0.09%), 156 (0.04%), and 2041 (0.49%) donations, respectively. Overall, 683 of 4156 (16.4%) eligible donors and 205 donors deferred prior 2013 participated in the program. They included 664 serology NRR and 224 NAT yield cases, and 58.8% repeat donors. All markers combined, follow-up documented false reactivity, primary acute infections, and OBI in 61.9% (550/888), 3.3% (29/888), and 12.8% (114/888) of these donors, respectively. Isolated anti-HBc or anti-HBs reactivity was observed in 22% of cases. CONCLUSION: Follow-up testing refined infection status in 78.0% (693/888) of deferred donors with unconfirmed screening results. This high false-positive rate encouraged to reevaluate the current screening strategies and to consider donor reentry.

A rapid and simple ultra high performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry method was developed and validated for the simultaneous separation and determination of vancomycin and its crystalline degradation products in human serum. Vancomycin and two isomers of the degradants were extracted from human serum with a protein precipitation method. The compounds were separated on an Acquity BEH C18 column (2.1 × 50 mm, 1.7 µm) eluted with a gradient mixture of acetonitrile and 0.1% formic acid as the mobile phase. Norvancomycin was used as the internal standard. The linear ranges of vancomycin and two degradant isomers were 1.057-105.7, 0.1437-14.37, and 0.2540-25.40 µg/mL, respectively. The established methods were validated and successfully applied to a therapeutic drug monitoring study of vancomycin in patients with renal insufficiency.

Background: Our aims in this prospective study were to evaluate the correlations between pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) indices and the clinical/microbiological efficacy of vancomycin and to identify an appropriate PK/PD target in the Chinese population to guide vancomycin treatment in the clinic. Methods: Adult patients from 11 hospitals in China with gram-positive infections who received vancomycin therapy for ≥5 days and who were under therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) were enrolled in this study. A 1-compartment population PK model was established and validated. The correlations between PK/PD indices (Cmin, Cmax, 0-24 hour area under the curve (AUC0-24), and AUC0-24/minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and clinical outcomes (clinical efficacy and bacterial eradication) were evaluated. Results: In total, 402 adult Chinese patients were enrolled. Among them, 380 patients were evaluable for PK analysis, and 334 were evaluable for PK/PD analysis. In the final population PK model, creatinine clearance (CLCR) was the significant covariate on CL (typical value, 3.87 L/hour; between-subject variability (BSV), 12.5%), and age was the significant covariate on volume of distribution (V) (typical value, 45.1 L; BSV, 24.8%). The univariate analysis showed that Cmax, AUC0-24, and AUC0-24/MIC were significantly different or marginally significantly different (P values were 0.009, 0.0385, and 0.0509, respectively) between microbiological outcome groups with coagulase-negative Staphylococcus infections. However, there were no significant differences (P > .05) in the above PK parameters by multivariate logistic regression analysis, indicating there was no independently associated factor. Conclusions: No significant correlations were identified between PK/PD indices and the clinical or microbiological efficacy of vancomycin in Chinese patients. The necessity of vancomycin TDM based on trough concentration and the current treatment target of AUC0-24/MIC ≥400 need to be further evaluated and confirmed in additional prospective studies.

Our previous research showed that short term meditation training reduces the time to resolve conflict in the flanker task. Studies also show that resting alpha increases with long term meditation practice. The aim of this study is to determine whether short term meditation training both increases resting alpha activity and reduces the time to resolve conflict in the Stroop task and whether these two effects are related. Forty-three Chinese undergraduates were randomly assigned an experiment group given 5 days meditation training using integrative body-mind training (IBMT) and a relaxation training control. After training, only the IBMT group showed decreased conflict reaction time (RT), and increased resting mean alpha power. Moreover, the higher the enhancement of resting alpha power, the stronger the improvement of conflict RT. The results indicate that short term meditation diffusely enhances alpha and improves the ability to deal with conflict and moreover these two effects are positively related.

Compared with traditional evaluation methods of cancer prognosis based on tissue samples, single-cell sequencing technology can provide information on cell type heterogeneity for predicting biomarkers related to cancer prognosis. Therefore, the bulk and single-cell expression profiles of breast cancer and normal cells were comprehensively analyzed to identify malignant and non-malignant markers and construct a reliable prognosis model. We first screened highly reliable differentially expressed genes from bulk expression profiles of multiple breast cancer tissues and normal tissues, and inferred genes related to cell malignancy from single-cell data. Then we identified eight critical genes related to breast cancer to conduct Cox regression analysis, calculate polygenic risk score (PRS), and verify the predictive ability of PRS in two data groups. The results show that PRS can divide breast cancer patients into high-risk group and low-risk group. PRS is related to the overall survival time and relapse-free interval and is a prognosis factor independent of conventional clinicopathological characteristics. Breast cancer is usually regarded as a cancer with a relatively good prognosis. In order to further explore whether this workflow can be applied to cancer with poor prognosis, we selected lung cancer for a comparative study. The results show that this workflow can also build a reasonable prognosis model for lung cancer. This study provides new insight and practical source code for further research on cancer biomarkers and drug targets. It also provides basis for survival prediction, treatment response prediction, and personalized treatment.

This study conducted a quantitative meta-analysis to investigate the association of vancomycin indicators, particularly area under the curve over 24 h (AUC24) and trough concentrations (Ctrough), and their relationship with both nephrotoxicity and efficacy. Literature research was performed in PubMed and Web of Science on vancomycin nephrotoxicity and efficacy in adult inpatients. Vancomycin Ctrough, AUC24, AUC24/minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), nephrotoxicity evaluation and treatment outcomes were extracted. Logistic regression and Emax models were conducted, stratified by evaluation criterion for nephrotoxicity and primary outcomes for efficacy. Among 100 publications on nephrotoxicity, 29 focused on AUC24 and 97 on Ctrough, while of 74 publications on efficacy, 27 reported AUC24/MIC and 68 reported Ctrough. The logistic regression analysis indicated a significant association between nephrotoxicity and vancomycin Ctrough (odds ratio = 2.193; 95% CI 1.582-3.442, p < 0.001). The receiver operating characteristic curve had an area of 0.90, with a cut-off point of 14.55 mg/L. Additionally, 92.3% of the groups with a mean AUC24 within 400-600 mg·h/L showed a mean Ctrough of 10-20 mg/L. However, a subtle, non-statistically significant association was observed between the AUC24 and nephrotoxicity, as well as between AUC24/MIC and Ctrough concerning treatment outcomes. Our findings suggest that monitoring vancomycin Ctrough remains a beneficial and valuable approach to proactively identifying patients at risk of nephrotoxicity, particularly when Ctrough exceeds 15 mg/L. Ctrough can serve as a surrogate for AUC24 to some extent. However, no definitive cut-off values were identified for AUC24 concerning nephrotoxicity or for Ctrough and AUC24/MIC regarding efficacy.

Elderly patients (age ≥ 65 years) are susceptible to methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections, with potential for more adverse treatment outcomes or complications compared to younger adults (18-64 years). This study compared vancomycin-associated nephrotoxicity and efficacy in elderly and adult patients and investigated the correlation between vancomycin pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) indices and clinical outcomes. A prospective study was conducted in 10 hospitals in Shanghai from October 2012 to November 2019. A total of 164 patients with MRSA infections were enrolled, including 83 elderly and 81 adult patients. Vancomycin therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) was performed in all patients, indicating significantly higher vancomycin trough concentrations (Ctrough), 24-h area under the curve (AUC24) values, and AUC24/minimum inhibitory concentration (AUC24/MIC) values in elderly patients compared to adult patients. The incidence of vancomycin-associated nephrotoxicity was nearly three times higher in elderly patients (18.1% vs. 6.2%, p = 0.020), despite similar clinical and microbiological efficacy. Of particular importance, a Ctrough > 20 mg/L was found as an independent factor of nephrotoxicity in elderly patients. Further analysis of patients with an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) > 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 also revealed that elderly patients had significantly higher vancomycin-related PK/PD indices and more nephrotoxicity than adult patients. In conclusion, elderly patients receiving vancomycin therapy face a higher risk of nephrotoxicity, which requires close vancomycin TDM, especially when the Ctrough exceeds 20 mg/L.

Persulfate has been applied extensively for waste activated sludge (WAS) decomposition due to the strong oxidizing sulfate radical generated as a product. However, the efficiency is not improved without activation to produce free radicals. In this study, a novel coupling strategy of heat-activated persulfate (Heat_PS) pretreatment and sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) triggering was explored to enhance short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) produced by WAS fermentation. The remaining sulfate acts as an essential acceptor of electrons for the metabolism of synergistic SRB, thereby boosting WAS acidification by energetic cooperation with anaerobic fermenters. The results showed that SCFAs yield in the Heat_PS + SRB group peaked at 431.89 mg COD/gVSS, with the proportion of acetate reaching 57.8 %. This was 6.33 and 1.75 times higher than that in raw and single Heat_PS treated WAS, respectively. Carbon balance revealed a conversion rate of 26.1 % of carbon content in WAS to SCFAs, with 4.5 % lower CO2 equivalents emitted than that in raw WAS fermentation by the assessments of environmental impacts. This was partially attributed to the strong decomposition of WAS by SO4•- and •OH oxidation from heat-activated PS and the SRB trigger. In addition, the synergistic relationship among acidogenic/fermentative bacteria and SRB consortia was further verified by the positive correlation among Desulfovibrio, the hydrolytic Escherichia-Shigella, Morganella and the fermetative Macellibacteroides and Bacteroides, as revealed by molecular ecological networks (MENs) analysis. The results of this study may highlight the cooperation of the synergistic micribial consortia as an additional perspective for the recovery of value-added biological metabolites from complex biotransformation.

Although sequential treatment with levornidazole has been used for anaerobic infection in clinical practice, there is no evidence-based dosing regimen. This study aimed to evaluate the pharmacokinetics (PK) of levornidazole in healthy subjects and patients, and to propose an evidence-based sequential dosing regimen by pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) analysis. A population PK model was built using the data of 116 Chinese subjects, including 88 healthy young subjects, 12 healthy elderly subjects, and 16 patients with intra-abdominal anaerobic infection. PK/PD analysis was performed combining the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of levornidazole against 375 anaerobic strains. Four sequential dosing regimens (500 mg q12h, 1000 mg loading dose followed by 500 mg q12h, 750 mg q24h, and 1000 mg q24h) were evaluated in terms of cumulative fraction of response (CFR) and probability of target attainment (PTA) by Monte Carlo simulation. The concentration data of levornidazole and its active metabolites were described adequately by two- and one-compartment models, respectively. Body weight was identified as a significant covariate of levornidazole clearance. Simulations showed that satisfactory PTA (>90%) was achieved for the four dosing regimens when MIC ≤1 mg/L. Considering the simulation results, patients' safety and compliance, levornidazole 750 mg intravenous infusion q24h for 2 days followed by 750 mg oral dose q24h for 5 days was optimal for Bacteroides spp. with an identified MIC ≤1 mg/L.
