RESUMO

Disease ontologies facilitate the semantic organization and representation of domain-specific knowledge. In the case of prostate cancer (PCa), large volumes of research results and clinical data have been accumulated and needed to be standardized for sharing and translational researches. A formal representation of PCa-associated knowledge will be essential to the diverse data standardization, data sharing and the future knowledge graph extraction, deep phenotyping and explainable artificial intelligence developing. In this study, we constructed an updated PCa ontology (PCAO2) based on the ontology development life cycle. An online information retrieval system was designed to ensure the usability of the ontology. The PCAO2 with a subclass-based taxonomic hierarchy covers the major biomedical concepts for PCa-associated genotypic, phenotypic and lifestyle data. The current version of the PCAO2 contains 633 concepts organized under three biomedical viewpoints, namely, epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment. These concepts are enriched by the addition of definition, synonym, relationship and reference. For the precision diagnosis and treatment, the PCa-associated genes and lifestyles are integrated in the viewpoint of epidemiological aspects of PCa. PCAO2 provides a standardized and systematized semantic framework for studying large amounts of heterogeneous PCa data and knowledge, which can be further, edited and enriched by the scientific community. BACKGROUND: No reliable clinical tools exist to predict acute kidney injury (AKI) progression. We aim to explore a scoring system for predicting the composite outcome of progression to severe AKI or death within seven days among early AKI patients after cardiac surgery. METHODS: In this study, we used two independent cohorts, and patients who experienced mild/moderate AKI within 48 h after cardiac surgery were enrolled. Eventually, 3188 patients from the MIMIC-IV database were used as the derivation cohort, while 499 patients from the Zhongshan cohort were used as external validation. The primary outcome was defined by the composite outcome of progression to severe AKI or death within seven days after enrollment. The variables identified by LASSO regression analysis were entered into logistic regression models and were used to construct the risk score. RESULTS: The composite outcome accounted for 3.7% (n = 119) and 7.6% (n = 38) of the derivation and validation cohorts, respectively. Six predictors were assembled into a risk score (AKI-Pro score), including female, baseline eGFR, aortic surgery, modified furosemide responsiveness index (mFRI), SOFA, and AKI stage. And we stratified the risk score into four groups: low, moderate, high, and very high risk. The risk score displayed satisfied predictive discrimination and calibration in the derivation and validation cohort. The AKI-Pro score discriminated the composite outcome better than CRATE score, Cleveland score, AKICS score, Simplified renal index, and SRI risk score (all P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The AKI-Pro score is a new clinical tool that could assist clinicians to identify early AKI patients at high risk for AKI progression or death.

In an interferometry system based on one single polarization-maintaining fiber (PMF), defects like the laser's ellipticity, the alignment error between the PMF and the laser source, and the PMF's internal stress will cause the emitted light from the PMF to be incompletely linearly polarized, resulting in nonlinear errors that cannot be ignored. This paper proposes a novel method that can realize polarization compensation for heterodyne interferometry, reduce the ellipticity of the emitted light, and thereby reduce the nonlinear error of the system. When using a PMF with an Extinction Ratio (ER) of 22 dB, the experimental results show that this method can reduce the polarization and increase the ER to 33.95 dB. After polarization compensation, the nonlinear error is reduced from 7.22 nm to 2.02 nm. The proportion of the nonlinear error reduction reaches to 71.99%, which greatly improves the accuracy of the system.

Decarboxylative cross-coupling reactions are powerful tools for carbon-heteroatom bonds formation, but typically require pre-activated carboxylic acids as substrates or heteroelectrophiles as functional groups. Herein, we present an electrochemical decarboxylative cross-coupling of carboxylic acids with structurally diverse fluorine, alcohol, H2O, acid, and amine as nucleophiles. This strategy takes advantage of the ready availability of these building blocks from commercial libraries, as well as the mild and oxidant-free conditions provided by electrochemical system. This reaction demonstrates good functional-group tolerance and its utility in late-stage functionalization.

Aryl fluorides are widely used in the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries, and recent advances have enabled their synthesis through the conversion of various functional groups. However, there is a lack of general methods for direct aromatic carbon-hydrogen (C-H) fluorination. Conventional methods require the use of either strong fluorinating reagents, which are often unselective and difficult to handle, such as elemental fluorine, or less reactive reagents that attack only the most activated arenes, which reduces the substrate scope. A method for the direct fluorination of aromatic C-H bonds could facilitate access to fluorinated derivatives of functional molecules that would otherwise be difficult to produce. For example, drug candidates with improved properties, such as increased metabolic stability or better blood-brain-barrier penetration, may become available. Here we describe an approach to catalysis and the resulting development of an undirected, palladium-catalysed method for aromatic C-H fluorination using mild electrophilic fluorinating reagents. The reaction involves a mode of catalysis that is unusual in aromatic C-H functionalization because no organometallic intermediate is formed; instead, a reactive transition-metal-fluoride electrophile is generated catalytically for the fluorination of arenes that do not otherwise react with mild fluorinating reagents. The scope and functional-group tolerance of this reaction could provide access to functional fluorinated molecules in pharmaceutical and agrochemical development that would otherwise not be readily accessible.

PURPOSE: Increased vagal activity plays a prominent role in vasovagal syncope (VVS). The aim of this study was to characterize vagal function in VVS by evaluating the heart rate (HR) deceleration capacity (DC) and the HR deceleration runs (DRs) in patients with VVS between attacks. METHODS: A total of 188 consecutive VVS patients were enrolled in the study, of whom 129 had positive head-up tilt test (HUTT); 132 healthy participants were enrolled as controls. DC, DRs (DR2, i.e., episodes of 2 consecutive beat-to-beat HR decelerations), and the sum of DR8-10 (very long DR [VLDR]) were calculated using 24-h electrograms. Clinical characteristics, DC, and DRs were compared among syncope groups and controls. RESULTS: Patients with VVS had higher DC (10.63 ± 2.1 vs. 6.58 ± 1.7 ms; P < 0.001) and lower minimum HR and DR6-10 than controls. No significant differences in DC or DR6-10 were found between the patients with positive and those with negative HUTT results. In multivariate logistic regression analysis, minimum HR ≥ 40 bpm (odds ratio [OR] 0.408, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.167-0.989; P = 0.048), daytime DC ≥ 7.37 ms (OR 3.040, 95% CI 1.220-7.576; P = 0.013), and VLDR ≥ 0.046% (OR 0.306, 95% CI 0.138-0.679; P = 0.004) were demonstrated to be risk factors significantly associated with VVS. CONCLUSION: Compared to healthy controls, patients with VVS demonstrated distinct HR deceleration profiles between attacks, including overall higher DC and lower DR6-10.

INTRODUCTION: Previous studies showed exercise have efficacies for androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) adverse effects. To compare the efficacies of different exercises on ADT adverse effects, we conducted the network meta-analysis (NMA). METHODS: Literature retrieval was performed in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL). 19 studies (1184 participants) were included. All analyses were performed in R 4.1.2 or RevMan 5.4.1. RESULTS: NMA results showed that compared with the control group, both aerobic + resistance training (ART) (MD = 5.92, 95% CI [0.38; 11.46]) and resistance exercise (RE) (MD = 5.62, 95% CI [2.70; 8.55]) improved quality of life (QoL). ART (P score: 0.72) may have superiority over RE (P score: 0.7). ART (MD = -10.89, 95% CI [-17.67; -4.11]) significantly improved the performance of 400-m test. RE could significantly improve leg strength (MD = 118, 95% CI [78.75; 157.25]) and chest strength (MD = 13.30 [4.07; 22.53]). RE ranked first for strength improvements of leg and chest. CONCLUSION: ART showed better efficacy for the QoL, and significantly improved the performance of 400-m test. RE might be superior for the strengths of leg and chest. ART may be appropriate for patients with less significant muscle strength decline but also other adverse effects of ADT, such as decreased cardiopulmonary function.

BACKGROUND: Large language models like ChatGPT have revolutionized the field of natural language processing with their capability to comprehend and generate textual content, showing great potential to play a role in medical education. This study aimed to quantitatively evaluate and comprehensively analysis the performance of ChatGPT on three types of national medical examinations in China, including National Medical Licensing Examination (NMLE), National Pharmacist Licensing Examination (NPLE), and National Nurse Licensing Examination (NNLE). METHODS: We collected questions from Chinese NMLE, NPLE and NNLE from year 2017 to 2021. In NMLE and NPLE, each exam consists of 4 units, while in NNLE, each exam consists of 2 units. The questions with figures, tables or chemical structure were manually identified and excluded by clinician. We applied direct instruction strategy via multiple prompts to force ChatGPT to generate the clear answer with the capability to distinguish between single-choice and multiple-choice questions. RESULTS: ChatGPT failed to pass the accuracy threshold of 0.6 in any of the three types of examinations over the five years. Specifically, in the NMLE, the highest recorded accuracy was 0.5467, which was attained in both 2018 and 2021. In the NPLE, the highest accuracy was 0.5599 in 2017. In the NNLE, the most impressive result was shown in 2017, with an accuracy of 0.5897, which is also the highest accuracy in our entire evaluation. ChatGPT's performance showed no significant difference in different units, but significant difference in different question types. ChatGPT performed well in a range of subject areas, including clinical epidemiology, human parasitology, and dermatology, as well as in various medical topics such as molecules, health management and prevention, diagnosis and screening. CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate ChatGPT failed the NMLE, NPLE and NNLE in China, spanning from year 2017 to 2021. but show great potential of large language models in medical education. In the future high-quality medical data will be required to improve the performance.

Captive pandas are suffering from intestinal infection due to intestinal microbiota characterized by a high abundance of Enterobacteriaceae induced by long-term captivity. Probiotic supplements showed improvement in intestinal barrier function and inflammation. However, the effects of panda-derived probiotics on the intestinal epithelium and inflammation have not been elucidated. In the present study, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) impaired Caco-2 and RAW264.7 inflammatory models were applied to assess the protection of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum BSG201683 (L. plantarum G83) on barrier disruption and inflammation. The results showed that treatment with L. plantarum G83 significantly decreased the paracellular permeability to fluorescein isothiocyanate conjugated dextran (MW 4000, FITC-D4) after LPS induction. Meanwhile, L. plantarum G83 alleviated the reduction in tight junction (TJ) proteins and downregulated proinflammatory cytokines caused by LPS in Caco-2 cells. L. plantarum G83 also significantly decreased the expression and secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells. In addition, the IL-10 increased in both Caco-2 and RAW264.7 cells after L. plantarum G83 treatment. The phagocytosis activity of RAW264.7 cells was significantly increased after L. plantarum G83 treatment. Toll-like receptor 4/ nuclear factor kappa-B (TLR4/NF-κB) signaling pathways were significantly down-regulated after L. plantarum G83 intervention, and the phosphorylation of NF-κB/p65 was consistent with this result. Our findings suggest that L. plantarum G83 improves intestinal inflammation and epithelial barrier disruption in vitro.

Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) is a rare but fatal birth defect in which the left side of the heart is underdeveloped. HLHS accounts for 2% to 4% of congenital heart anomalies. Whole genome sequencing (WGS) was conducted for a family trio consisting of a proband and his parents. A homozygous rare variant was detected in the PTPRB (Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase Receptor Type B) gene of the proband by functional annotation and co-segregation analysis. Sanger sequencing was used to confirm genotypes of the variant. The in silico prediction tools, including Mutation Taster, SpliceAI, and CADD, were used to predict the impact of the mutation. The allele frequencies across populations were compared based on multiple databases, including "1000 genomes" and "gnomAD". We used two vectors (pcMINI and pcDNA3.1) to generate a minigene construct to validate the mutational effect at the transcriptional level. Family-based WGS analyses showed that only a homozygous splice acceptor variant (NC_000012.12: g.70636068T>G, NM_001109754.4: c.56-2A>C, NG_029940.2: g.6373A>C) at the exon-intron border of PTPRB gene associates with HLHS. This variant is also within the region with the enhancer activity based on UCSC genome annotation. Genotyping and Sanger sequencing revealed that the proband's parents are heterozygous for this variant. Evolutionary conservation analysis revealed that the site (NC_000012.12: g.70636068) is extremely conserved across species, supporting the evolutionary functional constraints of the ancestral wild type (T). In silico tools universally predicted a deleterious or disease-causing impact of the mutation from T to G. The mutation was not found in the 1000 genomes and gnomAD databases, which indicates that this mutation is very rare in most human populations. A splicing assay indicated that the mutated minigene caused aberrant splicing of mRNA, in which a 3 bp missing in the second exon resulted in the deletion of one amino acid (NP_001103224.1:p.Glu19del) compared to the normal protein of PRPTB (also the VE-PTP). Structure prediction revealed that the deletion occurred within the C-region of the signal peptide of VE-PTP, suggesting signal peptide-related defects as a potential mechanism for the HLHS cellular pathogeny. We report a rare homozygous variant with splicing error in PTPRB associated with HLHS. Previous model species studies revealed conserved functions of PTPRB in cardiovascular and heart development in mice and zebrafish. Our study is the first report to show the association between PTPRB and HLHS in humans.

The rotary axis is the basis of rotational motion. The motion errors of a rotary axis have an extremely important impact on the accuracy of precision machining measuring equipment such as CNC machines, robot manipulators, and laser trackers. It is a difficult problem to realise the fast and precision simultaneous measurement of multi-degree-of-freedom motion errors of a rotary axis. Therefore, a novel method for the simultaneous measurement of six-degree-of-freedom motion errors of a rotary axis by a single-mode fiber coupled semiconductor laser is proposed in this paper. The corresponding system is developed, which has the advantages of high measurement efficiency, simple structure and low cost. A phase-solving method taking the advantages of both the eight-subdivision and the Cordic algorithm is proposed to solve the phase of interference signal, cannot only realize the high-resolution solving of the current signal phase but also quickly obtain high-precision interferometric results. A series of experiments were carried out on the developed system. An experimental system was built and a series of experiments were performed. The experimental results show that the standard deviation of stability for 1 hour of the six-degree-of-freedom measurement is 0.03 µm, 0.02 µm, 0.03 µm, 0.10 ' ' , 0.05 ' ' and 0.03 ' ' , respectively. The repeatability deviation of measuring a rotary axis is ±0.16 µm, ± 0.29 µm, ± 0.25 µm, ± 0.65 ' ' , ± 0.62 ' ' and ±13.42 ' ' , respectively. The maximum deviation of comparison with standard instruments is 0.46 µm, 1.00 µm, 0.49 µm, 1.06 ' ' , 1.53 ' ' and 0.74 ' ' , respectively. It provides a low-cost and high-precision measurement method for simultaneous measurement of six-degree-of-freedom motion errors of rotary axis of precision machining and measuring equipment.

The high-precision measurement of the six degrees-of-freedom (6DoF) relative position and pose deformation of satellites on the ground in vacuum and high-/low-temperature environments plays a critical role in ensuring the on-orbit mapping accuracy of satellites. To meet the strict measurement requirements for a satellite of a high accuracy, high stability, and a miniaturized measurement system, this paper proposes a laser measurement method for simultaneously measuring 6DoF relative position and attitude. In particular, a miniaturized measurement system was developed and a measurement model was established. The problem of error crosstalk between the 6DoF relative position and pose measurements was solved by conducting a theoretical analysis and OpticStudio software simulation, and the measurement accuracy was improved. Laboratory experiments and field tests were then conducted. The experimental results revealed that the measurement accuracy of the developed system for the relative position and relative attitude reached 0.2 µm and 0.4", within the measurement ranges of 500 mm along the X axis, ±100 µm along Y and Z axes, and ±100", and the 24-h measurement stabilities were superior to 0.5 µm and 0.5", respectively, which meets the ground measurement requirements for the satellite. The developed system was successfully applied on site, and the 6Dof relative position and pose deformation of the satellite were obtained via a thermal load test. This novel measurement method and system provides an experimental means for satellite development, in addition to a method for the high-precision measurement of the relative 6DoF position and pose between two points.

Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering is a type of characteristic nonlocal correlation and provides an important resource in quantum information tasks, especially in view of its asymmetric property. Although plenty of works on EPR steering have been reported, the study of non-Markovian evolution of EPR steering, in which the interactions between the quantum system and surrounding environment are taken into consideration, still lacks intuitive experimental evidence. Here, we experimentally observe the non-Markovian evolution of EPR steering including its sudden death and revival processes, during which the degree of memory effect plays a key role in the recovery of steering. Additionally, a strict unsteerable feature is sufficiently verified during the non-Markovian evolution within multisetting measurements. This Letter, revealing the whole evolution of EPR steering under the non-Markovian process, provides incisive insight into the applications of EPR steering in quantum open systems.

BACKGROUND: Patients receiving surgical treatment of acute type A Aortic Dissection (aTAAD) are common to suffer organ dysfunction in the intensive care unit due to overwhelming inflammation. Previous studies have revealed that glucocorticoids may reduce complications in certain patient groups, but evidence between postoperative glucocorticoids administration and improvement in organ dysfunction after aTAAD surgery are lacking. METHODS: This study will be an investigator-initiated, prospective, single-blind, randomized, single-center study. Subjects with confirmed diagnosis of aTAAD undergoing surgical treatment will be enrolled and 1:1 randomly assigned to receive either glucocorticoids or normal treatment. All patients in the glucocorticoids group will be given methylprednisolone intravenously for 3 days after enrollment. The primary endpoint will be the amplitude of variation of Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score on post-operative day 4 compared to baseline. DISCUSSION: The trial will explore the rationale for postoperative application of glucocorticoids in patients after aTAAD surgery. TRIAL REGISTRATION: This study has been registered on ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT04734418).

BACKGROUND: Postoperative patients with Type A aortic dissection (TAAD) often experience severe inflammatory responses caused by multiple factors perioperatively. However, the effect of postoperative glucocorticoid (GC) use, which is a potent anti-inflammatory agent, on complications or all-cause mortality is unclear. METHODS: Patients with TAAD who underwent surgical repair requiring deep hypothermic circulatory arrest between January 2020 and December 2021 were included in the study. Characteristics of patients treated with and without GCs were compared. The primary outcome was in-hospital mortality, and a composite secondary outcome was defined as in-hospital death or any major complications. Propensity score matching was used to balance baseline differences between groups. Kaplan-Meier curves were used to compare survival probability. RESULTS: A total of 393 postoperative patients with TAAD were included in the study. Forty of them (10.2%) received GC treatment at a median daily methylprednisolone-equivalent dose of 0.6 mg/kg (0.4-0.7) for a median period of 2 (1-3) days. Patients on GCs had more intraoperative blood transfusions, higher postoperative APACHE II (12 vs 9, p = .004) and SOFA (9 vs 6, p < .001) scores, worse perioperative hepatic, renal and cardiac function. The in-hospital mortality in the matched cohort did not differ between groups [GC n = 11/40 (27.5%) versus Non-GC n = 19/80 (23.8%); p = .661]. CONCLUSIONS: The propensity to use GCs correlated with the critical status of the patient. However, low dose and short-term postoperative GC treatment did not reduce in-hospital mortality rates among patients with TAAD. A more appropriate regimen should be further investigated.

Wheel flats are amongst the most common local surface defect in railway wheels, which can result in repetitive high wheel-rail contact forces and thus lead to rapid deterioration and possible failure of wheels and rails if not detected at an early stage. The timely and accurate detection of wheel flats is of great significance to ensure the safety of train operation and reduce maintenance costs. In recent years, with the increase of train speed and load capacity, wheel flat detection is facing greater challenges. This paper focuses on the review of wheel flat detection techniques and flat signal processing methods based on wayside deployment in recent years. Commonly used wheel flat detection methods, including sound-based methods, image-based methods, and stress-based methods are introduced and summarized. The advantages and disadvantages of these methods are discussed and concluded. In addition, the flat signal processing methods corresponding to different wheel flat detection techniques are also summarized and discussed. According to the review, we believe that the development direction of the wheel flat detection system is gradually moving towards device simplification, multi-sensor fusion, high algorithm accuracy, and operational intelligence. With continuous development of machine learning algorithms and constant perfection of railway databases, wheel flat detection based on machine learning algorithms will be the development trend in the future.

Using polarization-maintaining fiber (PMF) in dual-frequency heterodyne interferometry has the advantages of reducing the laser's own drift, obtaining high-quality light spots, and improving thermal stability. Using only one single-mode PMF to achieve the transmission of dual-frequency orthogonal, linearly polarized beam requires angular alignment only once to realize the transmission of dual-frequency orthogonal, linearly polarized light, avoiding coupling inconsistency errors, so that it has the advantages of high efficiency and low cost. However, there are still many nonlinear influencing factors in this method, such as the ellipticity and non-orthogonality of the dual-frequency laser, the angular misalignment error of the PMF, and the influence of temperature on the output beam of the PMF. This paper uses the Jones matrix to innovatively construct an error analysis model for the heterodyne interferometry using one single-mode PMF, to realize the quantitative analysis of various nonlinear error influencing factors, and clarify that the main error source is the angular misalignment error of the PMF. For the first time, the simulation provides a goal for the optimization of the alignment scheme of the PMF and the improvement of the accuracy to the sub-nanometer level. In actual measurement, the angular misalignment error of the PMF needs to be smaller than 2.87° to achieve sub-nanometer interference accuracy, and smaller than 0.25° to make the influence smaller than ten picometers. It provides theoretical guidance and an effective means for improving the design of heterodyne interferometry instruments based on PMF and further reducing measurement errors.

BACKGROUND: Bisphenol A (BPA) exposure and its structural analogs (BPS and BPF) might cause endocrine alterations and adverse physiological effects. Few studies to date have directly explored the association between its structural analogs (BPS, BPF) and sex hormones in adult male participants. Therefore, we aimed to assess the associations between BPA, BPS, BPF, and sex hormones in American adult men. METHODS: We used data from the U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2011-2016. We excluded participants without data available on sex hormones and urinary bisphenols. Furthermore, participants consuming sex hormone medications were excluded. Multivariable regression models were performed to assess the association between bisphenols and sex hormones. RESULTS: In this study, 2367 participants were included. Of 2367, in 1575 participants, the data on BPS and BPF were available. We found that a per unit increase in BPF was associated with 0.575 ng/dL higher total testosterone (TT) (Model 2: 95% CI: 0.047, 1.103, P = 0.033). However, there was no significant association between BPA or BPS and TT. Furthermore, increased BPA and BPS levels were associated with higher levels of sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) (Model 2: ß = 0.364, 95% CI: 0.158, 0.571; ß = 0.25, 95% CI: 0.071, 0.429, respectively). Additionally, participants in the highest BPA exposure quartile (quartile 4) had 4.072 nmol/L higher levels of SHBG than those in quartile 1 (Model 2: 95% CI: 0.746, 7.397, P = 0.017; P for trend =0.005). Both BPA and BPS were negatively associated with free testosterone (FT, nmol/L) after full adjustment (Model 2, ß = - 0.01%, P = 0.0211, P = 0.0211; Model 2, ß = - 0.01%, P = 0.0258, respectively). However, BPF was positively associated with FT (Model 2, ß = 0.0029%, P = 0.0028). CONCLUSION: Our study indicated that exposure to both BPA and its substitutions could alter sex hormone levels. This finding supports the possibility that human exposure to bisphenols at environmental levels might affect the endogenous hormone balance.

BACKGROUND: Klotho is a hormone that emerges as an antiaging biomarker. However, the influence of the dietary pattern's inflammatory potential on serum Klotho levels in human populations, especially in a general adult population, remains unknown. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the dietary inflammatory index (DII) and serum Klotho concentrations in individuals living in the United States.  METHODS : From the 2007-2016 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey database, data of participants who completed the full 24-h dietary history and underwent serum Klotho testing were analyzed. The association between DII and serum Klotho concentrations was estimated using multivariable linear regression models. We also conducted segmented regression model to examine the threshold effect of DII on serum Klotho concentrations. RESULTS: A total of 10,928 participants were included, with a median serum Klotho concentration of 805.20 pg/mL (IQR: 657.58 - 1001.12) and a median DII of 1.43 (IQR: - 0.16 - 2.82). Multivariable regression showed that participants with high DII scores were associated with low serum Klotho concentrations; when classifying DII into quartiles, after full adjustment, participants in DII quartiles 3 and 4 showed a decrease in Klotho levels (25.27 and 12.44 pg/ml, respectively) compared with those in the lowest quartile (quartile 1) (95% CI: - 41.80, - 8.73 and - 29.83, 4.95, respectively; P for trend = 0.036). The segmented regression showed that the turning point value of DII was - 1.82 (95% CI: - 2.32, - 0.80). A 1-unit increase in DII was significantly associated with lower Klotho levels by - 33.05 (95% CI: - 52.84, - 13.27; P = 0.001) when DII ranges from - 5.18 to - 1.82; however, the relationship was not significant when DII ranges from - 1.82 to 5.42 (P > 0.05). Furthermore, stratified analyses indicated that the observed associations between DII and serum Klotho concentration were stronger among those aged ≥ 56 years, those with normal weight, and those without chronic kidney disease (P for interaction = 0.003, 0.015, and 0.041, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: In summary, we indicated that there was a dose-response relationship between DII and serum Klotho concentrations, suggesting that adhering to an anti-inflammatory diet has beneficial effects on aging and health by increasing the serum Klotho concentration.
