RESUMO

Integrated on-chip femtosecond (fs) laser optoelectronic system, with photodetector as a critical component for light-electrical signal conversion, is a long-sought-after goal for a wide range of frontier applications. However, the high laser peak intensity and complicated nanophotonic waveguide structure of on-chip fs laser are beyond the detectability and integrability of conventional photodetectors. Therefore, flexible photodetector with the response on intense fs laser is in urgent needs. Herein, we demonstrate the first (to our knowledge) two-photon absorption (TPA) flexible photodetector based on the strong TPA nonlinearity of layered hybrid perovskite (IA)2(MA)2Pb3Br10, exhibiting efficient sub-bandgap response on the infrared fs laser at 700-1000 nm. High saturation intensity up to ∼3.8 MW/cm2 is achieved. The device also shows superior current stability even after bending for 1000 cycles. This work may pave the new way for the application of flexible optoelectronics specialized in integrated fs-laser detection.

RESUMO

Stable Q-switched and femtosecond mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) have been achieved using CuSe nanosheets as novel saturable absorber (SA), where the CuSe nanosheets were prepared by a hydrothermal method. The nonlinear optical properties of CuSe nanosheets were measured using an Z-scan setup, revealing nonlinear absorption coefficients of -3.67 ± 0.22 cm GW-1 at 1560 nm. The prepared CuSe nanosheets were mixed with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) to obtain a CuSe-PVA SA with a modulation depth of 3.8 ± 0.13%, and it was utilized to realize a Q-switched EDFL, obtaining the narrowest pulse duration of 1.29 µs and the maximum output power of 5.96 mW, which corresponds to a pulse energy of up to 103.7 nJ. In addition, CuSe nanosheets were deposited on a D-shaped fiber (DSF) to fabricate a CuSe-DSF SA with a modulation depth of 5.6 ± 0.17%, and it was utilized to realize a mode-locked EDFL. The mode-locked EDFL demonstrated a low threshold of only 42 mW, a pulse duration of 740 fs, and a maximum output power of 9.7 mW. Meanwhile, it exhibited a high signal-to-noise ratio of 72 dB. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time of CuSe nanosheets as SA in EDFL. The results demonstrate that CuSe nanosheets are a highly promising nonlinear optical material with great potential for applications in ultrafast photonics.

RESUMO

A continuous-wave, tandem optical parametric oscillator (TOPO) based on a MgO-doped periodically poled LiNbO3 (MgO:PPLN) is demonstrated. Because the MgO:PPLN is tandemly pumped by the OPO's signal beam, it outputs simultaneously two groups of signal and idler with a single pump source. The entire range spans from 1398 to 1490 nm, 1914 to 2107 nm, 3720 to 4444 nm, and 4849 to 5190 nm, which is limited by periods of the MgO:PPLN and cavity mirror coatings. The TOPO, whose oscillation threshold of pump power exceeds 7 W, can be easily triggered by marginally increasing the pump power as long as the OPO process occurs. The maximum idler powers are respectively 2.6 W (at 3896 nm) and 34 mW (at 4863 nm), and the corresponding signal powers are both nearly 100 mW.

RESUMO

A two-dimensional binary phase grating is proposed in this paper. Unlike a conventional transmission grating, in theory, the proposed phase grating can simultaneously eliminate the zero- and high-order diffraction along certain axes on the image plane, forming a pure sinusoidal transmission modulation that leaves only the first-order diffraction. The first-ever, to the best of our knowledge, theoretical model for achieving sinusoidal transmission modulation is suggested in this paper; then the theoretical calculation and experiment results are displayed to investigate the physical mechanism of the proposed grating. Moreover, the manipulation on the arrangement of grating design can disperse or concentrate the diffraction energy at a specific axis. Finally, almost first-order-only diffraction is achieved on a single axis by introducing random changes to certain geometrical parameters of the two-dimensional binary phase grating. Our work provides potential applications in optical science and engineering fields.

RESUMO

The flexible photodetector is viewed as a research hotspot for numerous advanced optoelectronic applications. Recent progress has manifested that lead-free layered organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites (OIHPs) are highly attractive to engineering flexible photodetectors due to the effective overlapping of several unique properties, including efficient optoelectronic characteristics, exceptional structural flexibility, and the absence of Pb toxicity to humans and the environment. The narrow spectral response of most flexible photodetectors with lead-free perovskites is still a big challenge to practical applications. In this work, we demonstrate the flexible photodetector based on a novel (to our knowledge) narrow-bandgap OIHP of (BA)2(MA)Sn2I7, with achieving a broadband response across an ultraviolet-visible-near infrared (UV-VIS-NIR) region as 365-1064 nm. The high responsivities of 28.4 and 2.0 × 10-2 A/W are obtained at 365 and 1064 nm, respectively, corresponding to detectives of 2.3 × 1010 and 1.8 × 107 Jones. This device also shows remarkable photocurrent stability after 1000 bending cycles. Our work indicates the huge application prospect of Sn-based lead-free perovskites in high-performance and eco-friendly flexible devices.

RESUMO

Monolithic optical parametric oscillators extend laser frequencies in compact architectures, but normally guide and circulate all pump, signal, and idler beams. Critical frequency matching is raised among these resonances, limiting operation stability and continuous tuning. Here, we develop a box resonator geometry that guides all beams but only resonates for signal. Such noncritical frequency matching enables 227 GHz continuous tuning, with sub-10 kHz linewidth and 0.43 W power at 3310 nm. Our results confirm that monolithic resonator can be effectively used as a tunable laser including midinfrared wavelength, as further harnessed with methane fine spectral measurement at MHz accuracy.

RESUMO

This paper proposes the concept of low dimensional optical beam and operator. In low dimensional space, beam (or operator) is decomposed into a limited number of orthogonalized low dimensional beams (or operators) through the singular value decomposition. It is possible to generate an unconventional beam by these low dimensional beams. Low dimensional operator allows independent operation of orthogonal dimensions which may produce greater freedoms. Storage space and computation resource are saved dramatically by using this method. Experimental realization of this scheme is briefly discussed at the end.

RESUMO

Electronic processors are reaching the physical speed ceiling that heralds the era of optical processors. Multifunctional all-optical logic gates (AOLGs) of massively parallel processing are of great importance for large-scale integrated optical processors with speed far in excess of electronics, while are rather challenging due to limited operation bandwidth and multifunctional integration complexity. Here we for the first time experimentally demonstrate a reconfigurable all-in-one broadband AOLG that achieves nine fundamental Boolean logics in a single configuration, enabled by ultrabroadband (400-4000 nm) plasmon-enhanced thermo-optical nonlinearity (TONL) of liquid-metal Galinstan nanodroplet assemblies (GNAs). Due to the unique heterogeneity (broad-range geometry sizes, morphology, assembly profiles), the prepared GNAs exhibit broadband plasmonic opto-thermal effects (hybridization, local heating, energy transfer, etc.), resulting in a huge nonlinear refractive index under the order of 10-4-10-5 within visual-infrared range. Furthermore, a generalized control-signal light route is proposed for the dynamic TONL modulation of reversible spatial-phase shift, based on which nine logic functions are reconfigurable in one single AOLG configuration. Our work will provide a powerful strategy on large-bandwidth all-optical circuits for high-density data processing in the future.

RESUMO

Two cerium-oxo clusters (COCs) 1 and 2 are constructed by self-assembly of cerium ions and carboxylate ligands. Both clusters feature spherical structures resembling the key moiety of fluorite phase CeO2, and 1 exhibits high activity and selectivity for the photocatalytic aerobic oxygenation of sulfides to sulfoxides based on the switch between the Ce(IV/III) redox couple.

RESUMO

We experimentally demonstrate a compact, all-solid-state 532 nm semi-Gaussian laser beam (SGB) source based on a 1064 nm laser and a transversely varying periodically-poled LiTaO3 (TPPLT) crystal as the laser beam shaper as well as the nonlinear frequency converter. We have used the designed TPPLT crystal to obtain a neat 532nm SGB with the quality of QSGB=1:17.5 by a single-pass second harmonic generation. The dependence of the generated SGB quality on the designed TPPLT parameter and the potential applications of the neat SGB are also discussed.

RESUMO

We demonstrate a compact, high efficiency and widely tunable intracavity singly resonant optical parametric oscillator (IC-OPO) based on multichannel periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN). The IC-OPO is composed of 808 nm pump laser diode (LD), Nd:YVO4 laser and linear OPO. The continuous-wave (CW) mid-infrared (MIR) output laser is tunable from 2.25 to 4.79 µm. The maximum output power exceeds 1.08 W at 3.189 µm at 9.1 W LD pump power and the conversion efficiency is 11.88%. We also build up a prototype with volume of 145 × 85 × 42.5 mm3 and its total weight is less than 2 kg. The measured power stability is 1.3% Root Meat Square (RMS) for a 3 h duration under simulated high temperature conditions of 40 °C. RMS is 2.6% for a 4 h duration when simulated temperature is - 40 °C.

RESUMO

Microcavity laser represents a novel type of integrated platform potentially allowing low-threshold and high-efficiency lasing behavior. Phase matching is a key parameter to achieve efficient lasing processes. Here we report a study on a triply-resonant phase-matching process in a sheet optical parametric oscillator. The oscillator contains an x-cut KTiOPO4 crystal, and the triply-resonant phase-matching was achieved by temperature tuning of the cavity. The measured oscillation threshold is as low as 13 µJ at 243.6 °C temperature along with a slope efficiency of 17.5% at 65.3 °C. Experimental results show that under some temperatures, triply-resonant sheet optical parametric oscillator can realize a limited number of longitudinal modes (n ≤ 3). Our results represent the first observation of triply-resonant phase-matching process in an on-chip optical parametric oscillator, opening up the possibilities on future applications including quantum chips, vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers and narrow-band two-photon sources.

RESUMO

Layered transitional metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are drawing significant attentions for the applications of optics and optoelectronics. To achieve optimal performances of functional devices, precisely controlled doping engineering of 2D TMDs alloys has provided a reasonable approach to tailor their physical and chemical properties. By the chemical vapor transport (CVT) method and liquid phase exfoliation technique, in this work, we synthesized WS1.76Te0.24 saturable absorber (SA) which exhibited high-performance of nonlinear optics. The nonlinear saturable absorption of the WS1.76Te0.24 SA was also measured by the open aperture Z-scan technique. Compared to that of the binary component WS2 and WTe2, WS1.76Te0.24 SA has shown 4 times deeper modulation depth, 28% lower saturable intensity and a much faster recovery time of 3.8 ps. The passively Q-switched laser based on WS1.76Te0.24 was more efficient, with pulse duration narrowed to 18%, threshold decreased to 28% and output power enlarged by 200%. The promising findings can provide a method to optimize performances of functional devices by doping engineering.

RESUMO

Pulsed lasers operating in the mid-infrared (3-20 µm) are important for a wide range of applications in sensing, spectroscopy, imaging and communications. Despite recent advances with mid-infrared gain platforms, the lack of a capable pulse generation mechanism remains a significant technological challenge. Here we show that bulk Dirac fermions in molecular beam epitaxy grown crystalline Cd3As2, a three-dimensional topological Dirac semimetal, constitutes an exceptional ultrafast optical switching mechanism for the mid-infrared. Significantly, we show robust and effective tuning of the scattering channels of Dirac fermions via an element doping approach, where photocarrier relaxation times are found flexibly controlled over an order of magnitude (from 8 ps to 800 fs at 4.5 µm). Our findings reveal the strong impact of Cr doping on ultrafast optical properties in Cd3As2 and open up the long sought parameter space crucial for the development of compact and high-performance mid-infrared ultrafast sources.
