RESUMO

Zinc-iodine batteries (Zn-I2) are extremely attractive as the safe and cost-effective scalable energy storage system in the stationary applications. However, the inefficient redox kinetics and "shuttling effect" of iodine species result in unsatisfactory energy efficiency and short cycle life, hindering their commercialization. In this work, Ni single atoms highly dispersed on carbon fibers is designed and synthesized as iodine anchoring sites and dual catalysts for Zn-I2 batteries, and successfully inhibit the iodine species shuttling and boost dual reaction kinetics. Theoretical calculations indicate that the reinforced d-p orbital hybridization and charge interaction between Ni single-atoms and iodine species effectively enhance the confinement of iodine species. Ni single-atoms also accelerate the iodine conversion reactions with tailored bonding structure of I─I bonds and reduced energy barrier for the dual conversion of iodine species. Consequently, the high-rate performance (180 mAh g-1 at 3 A g-1), cycling stability (capacity retention of 74% after 5900 cycles) and high energy efficiency (90% at 3 A g-1) are achieved. The work provides an effective strategy for the development of iodine hosts with high catalytic activity for Zn-I2 batteries.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Lumbar facet joint (LFJ) syndrome is one of the common causes of low back pain (LBP). There are different views on percutaneous and endoscopic radiofrequency. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to explore the therapeutic effect of radiofrequency ablation on LBP originating from LFJ and compare the therapeutic effect of percutaneous radiofrequency ablation and endoscopic neurotomy. METHODS: We included randomized controlled trials which compared the efficiency of percutaneous radiofrequency ablation and conservative treatment (sham procedures, facet joint injection, physiotherapy, exercise, or oral medication) or compared the efficiency of percutaneous radiofrequency ablation and endoscopic neurotomy for LFJ syndrome. We searched in PubMed and Web of Science from inception to March 27, 2023. Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4 software. RESULTS: A total of 11 randomized controlled trials were included. Among them, nine studies were used for evaluating efficiency of percutaneous radiofrequency ablation, and two studies were used for evaluating efficiency of endoscopic neurotomy. Pooled data from two studies reporting outcomes at 1 year did not show a benefit from facet joint denervation by comparing the percutaneous radiofrequency ablation and conservative treatment (standardized mean difference (SMD) = -0.87, 95% confidence interval (CI) [-2.10, 0.37], P = 0.17). There was no significant difference between percutaneous radiofrequency ablation and endoscopic neurotomy at 1-month follow-up (mean difference (MD) = -0.13, 95%CI [-0.18, -0.44], P = 0.41). At 12-month follow-up the pain relief in the endoscopic neurotomy was significantly better than that in the percutaneous radiofrequency ablation group (MD = 1.98, 95%CI [1.60, 2.36], P < 0 .0001). CONCLUSION: The LBP was significantly relieved shortly after percutaneous radiofrequency ablation. Compared with percutaneous radiofrequency ablation, endoscopic neurotomy seems to have a longer effect. A longer follow-up period is needed to confirm its effectiveness.

RESUMO

Al-based foams have drawn increasing attention from industry due to their integration of structure and functional properties. However, large-sized Al-based foams still cannot be homogeneously strengthened by long-time aging due to their low thermal conductivity. In this study, we proposed an age-hardening approach that was applied in large-sized Al-0.16Sc-0.17Zr (wt.%) foams via micro-alloying with Zr and Ti compared with Al-0.21Sc foams; it not only achieved homogeneous strength by long-term aging but also reduced the cost of the alloy by substituting Zr and Ti for the more expensive Sc content. The results show that the Al3(Sc, Zr, Ti) phase with a core-shell structure as a crucial precipitation strengthening phase by micro-alloying with Zr and Ti was less prone to coarsening after a prolonged aging heat treatment. Therefore, the yielding strength of Al-Sc foam micro-alloying with Zr and Ti remained almost unchanged after a maximum aging time of 1440 h due to less coarsening precipitate, which is consistent with the results of mechanical experiments. These findings provide a new way for the heat treatment strengthening of large-sized Al-based foams, thus promoting their industrial applications.

RESUMO

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have been prepared and surface-functionalized with a mixture of 1-hexanethiol co-ligands and chiral discogen ligands separated from a disulfide function via a flexible spacer. Polarized optical microscopy together with differential scanning calorimetry showed that the organic corona of the nanocomposite forms a stable chiral discotic nematic phase with a wide thermal range. Synchrotron X-ray diffraction showed that gold NPs form a superlattice with p2 plane symmetry. Analysis indicated that the organic corona takes up the shape of a flexible macrodisk. Synchrotron radiation-based circular dichroism signals of thin films are significantly enhanced on the isotropic-LC transition, in line with the formation of a chiral nematic phase of the organic corona. At lower temperatures the appearance of CD signals at longer wavelengths is associated with the chiral organisation of the NPs and is indicative of the formation of a second helical structure. The decreased volume required and the chiral environment of the disc ligands drives the nanoparticles into columns that arrange helically, parallel to the shortest axis of the two dimensional lattice.
