RESUMO

Organic luminescent materials are indispensable in optoelectronic displays and solid-state luminescence applications. Compared with single-component, multi-component crystalline materials can improve optoelectronic characteristics. This work forms a series of full-spectrum tunable luminescent charge-transfer (CT) cocrystals ranging from 400 to 800 nm through intermolecular collaborative self-assembly. What is even more interesting is that o-TCP-Cor(x)-Pe(1-x), p-TCP-Cor(x)-Pe(1-x), and o-TCP-AN(x)-TP(1-x) alloys are prepared based on cocrystals by doping strategies, which correspondingly achieve the stepless color change from blue (CIE [0.22, 0.44]) to green (CIE [0.16, 0.14]), from green (CIE [0.27, 0.56]) to orange (CIE [0.58, 0.42]), from yellow (CIE [0.40, 0.57]) to red (CIE [0.65, 0.35]). The work provides an efficient method for precisely synthesizing new luminescent organic semiconductor materials and lays a solid foundation for developing advanced organic solid-state displays.

RESUMO

Experiments were conducted in this study on the co-hydropyrolysis of three components of biomass (cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin) and HDPE by using SR-Pd/Trap-HZ-5 as catalyst. To control the variable, we use the same experiment conditions in co-hydropyrolysis: Si/Al ratio of 50, Pd load 1 %, catalyst to reactant ratio of 1 : 10, 1 MPa, 400 °C, reaction time 1 h. Use XRD, TEM, BET, and NH3-TPD to confirm catalyst successful synthesis; use pine sawdust (PW) co-hydropyrolysis with HDPE to analyse catalytic activity; and use GC/MS to characterize the chemical composition of the bio-oil from the co-hydropyrolysis of biomass components and HDPE. The results show that cellulose has a significant synergistic effect with aromatic hydrocarbon production, whose selectivity was 93.3 %; hemicellulose has a synergistic effect; aromatic selectivity can reach 75.1 %; and a negative synergistic effect between lignin and HDPE was shown as the selectivity of aromatic hydrocarbons decreased from 62.1 % to 15.6 %.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Maresin1 (MaR1) is a potent lipid mediator that exhibits significant anti-inflammatory activity in the context of several inflammatory diseases. A previous study reported that MaR1 could suppress MSU crystal-induced peritonitis in mice. To date, the molecular mechanism by which MaR1 inhibits MSU crystal-induced inflammation remains poorly understood. METHODS: Mousebone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) were pretreated with MaR1 and then stimulated with FAs (palmitic, C16:0 and stearic, C18:0) plus MSU crystals (FAs + MSUc). In vivo, the effects of MaR1 treatment or Prdx5 deficiency on MSUc induced peritonitis and arthritis mouse models were evaluated. RESULTS: The current study indicated that MaR1 effectively suppressed MSUc induced inflammation in vitro and in vivo. MaR1 reversed the decrease in Prdx5 mRNA and protein levels induced by FAs + MSUc. Further assays demonstrated that MaR1 acceleratedPrdx5 expression by regulating the Keap1-Nrf2 signaling axis. Activation of AMPK by Prdx5 improved homeostasis of the TXNIP and TRX proteins and alleviated mitochondrial fragmentation. In addition, Prdx5 overexpression inhibited the expression of CPT1A, a key enzyme for fatty acid oxidation (FAO). Prdx5 protected against defects in FA + MSUc induced FAO and the urea cycle. CONCLUSION: MaR1 treatment effectively attenuated MSUc induced inflammation by upregulating Prdx5 expression. Our study provides a new strategy by which Prdx5 may help prevent acute gout attacks.

RESUMO

Atomic understanding of a chemical reaction can realize the programmable design and synthesis of desired products with specific compositions and structures. Through directly monitoring the phase transition and tracking the dynamic evolution of atoms in a chemical reaction, in situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques offer the feasibility of revealing the reaction kinetics at the atomic level. Nevertheless, such investigation is quite challenging, especially for reactions involving multi-phase and complex interfaces, such as the widely adopted carbothermal reduction (CTR) reactions. Herein, in-situ TEM is applied to monitor the CTR of Co3 O4 nanocubes on reduced graphene oxide nanosheets. Together with the first-principle calculation, the migration route of Co atoms during the phase transition of the CTR reaction is revealed. Meanwhile, the interfacial edge-dislocations/stress-gradient is identified as a result of the atomistic diffusion, which in turn can affect the morphology variation of the reactants. Accordingly, controllable synthesis of Co-based nanostructure with a desirable phase and structure has been achieved. This work not only provides atomic kinetic insight into CTR reactions but also offers a novel strategy for the design and synthesis of functional nanostructures for emerging energy technologies.

RESUMO

The degradation of AlGaN-based UVC LEDs under constant temperature and constant current stress for up to 500 hrs was analyzed in this work. During each degradation stage, the two-dimensional (2D) thermal distributions, I-V curves, optical powers, combining with focused ion beam and scanning electron microscope (FIB/SEM), were thoroughly tested and analyzed the properties and failure mechanisms of UVC LEDs. The results show that: 1) the opto-electrical characteristics measured before/during stress indicate that the increased leakage current and the generation of stress-induced defects increase the non-radiative recombination in the early stress stage, resulting in a decrease in optical power; 2) the increase of temperature caused by the deterioration of the Cr/Al layer of p-metal after 48 hrs of stress aggravates the optical power in UVC LEDs. The 2D thermal distribution in conjunction with FIB/SEM provide a fast and visual way to precisely locate and analyze the failure mechanisms of UVC LEDs.

RESUMO

AIMS: The aim of the study was to investigate the socio-demographic factors and systemic conditions associated with non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (NAION). METHODS: This was a nationwide population-based retrospective case-controlled study that recruited 9,261 NAION patients selected from the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database. The control group consisted of 9,261 age-, sex-, and index date-matched non-NAION patients recruited from the Taiwan Longitudinal Health Insurance Database, 2000. NAION was designated in the database by the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM) as "code 377.41: ischaemic optic neuropathy without ICD-9-CM code 446.5: giant cell arteritis." Associated socio-demographic factors and systemic medical conditions were analysed using the McNemar's test, and continuous variables were analysed using the paired t test. The odds ratio (OR) and adjusted OR of developing NAION were compared using univariate logistic regression and multivariable logistic regression analyses, respectively. RESULTS: Patients with systemic conditions such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, chronic kidney disease, and hypotension were more likely to develop NAION than controls (adjusted OR = 1.81, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.67-1.97, p < 0.0001; adjusted OR = 1.46, 95% CI = 1.36-1.57, p < 0.0001; adjusted OR = 1.44, 95% CI = 1.33-1.57, p < 0.0001; adjusted OR = 3.26, 95% CI = 2.65-4.01, p < 0.0001; adjusted OR = 2.32, 95% CI = 1.31-4.10, p = 0.0039, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: NAION is strongly associated with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, chronic kidney disease, and hypotension.

RESUMO

With the continuous exploration of low-dimensional nanomaterials, two dimensional metal oxides (2DMOs) has been received great interest. However, their further development is limited by the high cost in the preparation process and the unstable states caused by the polarization of surface chemical bonds. Recently, obtaining mental oxides via liquid metals have been considered a surprising method for obtaining 2DMOs. Therefore, how to scientifically choose different preparation methods to obtain 2DMOs applying in different application scenarios is an ongoing process worth discussing. This review will provide some new opportunities for the rational design of 2DMOs based on liquid metals. Firstly, the surface oxidation process and in situ electrical replacement reaction process of liquid metals are introduced in detail, which provides theoretical basis for realizing functional 2DMOs. Secondly, by simple sticking method, gas injection method and ultrasonic method, 2DMOs can be obtained from liquid metal, the characteristics of each method are introduced in detail. Then, this review provides some prospective new ideas for 2DMOs in other energy-related applications such as photodegradation, CO2 reduction and battery applications. Finally, the present challenges and future development prospects of 2DMOs applied in liquid metals are presented.

RESUMO

Traditional technologies such as precipitation and coagulation have been adopted for fluoride-rich and silica-rich wastewater treatment, respectively, but waste solid generation and low wastewater processing efficiency are still the looming concern. Efficient resource recovery technologies for different wastewater treatments are scarce for environment and industry sustainability. Herein, a resource capture ultrafiltration-bipolar membrane electrodialysis (RCUF-BMED) system was designed into a closed-loop process for simultaneous capture and recovery of fluoride and silica as sodium silicofluoride (Na2SiF6) from mixed fluoride-rich and silica-rich wastewaters, as well as achieving zero liquid discharge. This RCUF-BMED system comprised two key parts: (1) capture of fluoride and silica from two wastewaters using acid, and recovery of the Na2SiF6 using base by UF and (2) UF permeate conversion for acid/base and freshwater generation by BMED. With the optimized RCUF-BMED system, fluoride and silica can be selectively captured from wastewater with removal efficiencies higher than 99%. The Na2SiF6 recovery was around 72% with a high purity of 99.1%. The aging and cyclic experiments demonstrated the high stability and recyclability of the RCUF-BMED system. This RCUF-BMED system has successfully achieved the conversion of toxic fluoride and silica into valuable Na2SiF6 from mixed wastewaters, which shows great application potential in the industry-resource-environment nexus.

RESUMO

Xanthine oxidoreductase (XOR) is a clinically validated target for the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout. A series of novel 1,2,4-triazoles were identified as potent XO inhibitors via a fused-pharmacophore strategy based on the interaction modes of febuxostat and topiroxostat. Among them, compound 7i showed an IC50 value of 0.20 nM against XOR, which was superior to febuxostat and topiroxostat. Furthermore, 7i exhibited significant hypouricemic and serum XOR inhibitory effects in potassium oxonate induced hyperuricemia mouse models. A single-dose toxicity assessment of 7i showed no noticeable toxicity at the dose of 50 mg/kg. These results demonstrated that 7i could be a promising lead compound for the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout.

RESUMO

The rational synthesis of single-layer noble metal directly anchored on support materials is an elusive target to accomplish for a long time. This paper reports well-defined single-layer Pt (Pt-SL) clusters anchored on ultrathin TiO2 nanosheets-as a new frontier in electrocatalysis. The structural evolution of Pt-SL/TiO2 via self-assembly of single Pt atoms (Pt-SA) is systematically recorded. Significantly, the Pt atoms of Pt-SL/TiO2 possess a unique electronic configuration with PtPt covalent bonds surrounded by abundant unpaired electrons. This Pt-SL/TiO2 catalyst presents enhanced electrochemical performance toward diverse electrocatalytic reactions (such as the hydrogen evolution reaction and the oxygen reduction reaction) compared with Pt-SA, multilayer Pt nanoclusters, and Pt nanoparticles, suggesting an efficient new type of catalyst that can be achieved by constructing single-layer atomic clusters on supports.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Although Helicobacter pylori (Hp) as high risk factor for gastric cancer have been investigated from human trial, present data is inadequate to explain the effect of Hp on the changes of metabolic phenotype of gastric cancer in different stages. PURPOSE: Herein, plasma of human superficial gastritis (Hp negative and positive), early gastric cancer and advanced gastric cancer analyzed by UPLC-HDMS metabolomics can not only reveal metabolic phenotype changes in patients with gastric cancer of different degrees (30 Hp negative, 30 Hp positive, 20 early gastric cancer patients, and 10 advanced gastric cancer patients), but also auxiliarily diagnose gastric cancer. RESULTS: Combined with multivariate statistical analysis, the results represented biomarkers different from Hp negative, Hp positive, and the alterations of metabolic phenotype of gastric cancer patients. Forty-three metabolites are involved in amino acid metabolism, and lipid and fatty acid metabolism pathways in the process of cancer occurrence, especially 2 biomarkers glycerophosphocholine and neopterin, were screened in this study. Neopterin was consistently increased with gastric cancer progression and glycerophosphocholine tended to consistently decrease from Hp negative to advanced gastric cancer. CONCLUSION: This method could be used for the development of rapid targeted methods for biomarker identification and a potential diagnosis of gastric cancer.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the beneficial effects and optimal stimulation protocol of noninvasive brain stimulation (NIBS) including repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on patients with mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS: PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and the Cochrane Library were searched until March 2020. The cognitive outcomes were extracted and the standardized mean difference with 95% confidence interval was calculated. RESULTS: Twenty-eight studies were included. The result of NIBS showed significant effect on global cognition (P<0.05). Low-frequency rTMS over right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), high-frequency rTMS (HF-rTMS) over left DLPFC, and the tDCS over left DLPFC and temporal lobe can significantly improve the memory function (P<0.05). HF-rTMS over left, right, or bilateral DLPFC can significantly improve the language function (P<0.05). Both HF-rTMS and tDCS over left DLPFC can obviously improve the executive function (P<0.05). Multiple sessions of rTMS with 80% to 100% intensity and anode tDCS with 2 mA current density are more suitable for all these functions. CONCLUSIONS: NIBS has a beneficial effect on cognitive performance in both mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer disease patients. Distinct optimal stimulation parameters were observed for different cognitive functions.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Both keratoconus (KCN) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) are multifactorial conditions with multiple aetiologies and share several common pathophysiologies. However, the few studies that have described the relationship between KCN and CKD are limited to case reports and small case series. This study aimed to evaluate the association between KCN and CKD. METHODS: The study cohort included 4,609 new-onset keratoconus patients ≥ 12 years identified by the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, Clinical Modification, code 371.6 and recruited between 2004 and 2011 from the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database. The age-, sex-, and comorbidity-matched control group included 27,654 non-KCN patients, selected from the Taiwan Longitudinal Health Insurance Database, 2000. Information for each patient was collected and tracked from the index date until December 2013. The incidence and risk of CKD were compared between the two groups. The adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) for CKD were calculated with Cox proportional hazard regression analysis. Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to calculate the cumulative CKD incidence rate. RESULTS: The incidence rate of CKD was 1.36 times higher in KCN patients than in controls without statistically significant difference (95 % confidence interval [CI] = 0.99-1.86, p = 0.06). In total, 29 male KCN patients and 90 male controls developed CKD during the follow-up period. The incidence rate of CKD was 1.92 times (95 % [CI] = 1.26-2.91; p = 0.002) higher in male KCN patients than in controls. After adjusting for potential confounders, including age, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, and diabetes mellitus, male KCN patients were 1.75 times (adjusted HR = 1.75, 95 % [CI] = 1.14-2.68, p < 0.05) more likely to develop CKD. CONCLUSIONS: We found that male KCN patients have an increased risk of CKD. Therefore, it is recommended that male KCN patients should be aware of CKD.

RESUMO

The utilization of appropriate supports for constructing single-atom-catalysts is of vital importance to achieve high catalytic performances, as the strong mutual interactions between the atomically dispersed metal atoms and supports significantly influence their electronic properties. Herein, it is reported that atomic cobalt species (ACS) anchored 2D tellurium nanosheets (Te NS) can act as a highly active single-atom cocatalyst for boosting photocatalytic H2 production and CO2 reduction reactions under visible light irradiation, wherein Te NS serves as the ideal support material to bridge the light absorbers and ACS catalytic sites for efficient electron transfer. X-ray absorption near-edge structure spectroscopy reveals that the ACS are built by a Co center coordinated with five CoO bonding, which are anchored on Te NS through one CoTe bonding. The strong mutual interaction between the Te NS and ACS alters the electronic structure of Te NS, inducing the introduction of intermediate energy states, which act as trap sites to accommodate the photogenerated electrons for promoting photocatalytic reactions. This work may inspire further capability in designing other Te-based single-atom-catalysts for highly efficient solar energy conversion.

RESUMO

As a rising star in the family of graphene analogues, germanene shows great potential for electronic and optical device applications due to its unique structure and electronic properties. It is revealed that the hydrogen terminated germanene not only maintains a high carrier mobility similar to that of germanene, but also exhibits strong light-matter interaction with a direct band gap, exhibiting great potential for photoelectronics. In this work, few-layer germanane (GeH) nanosheets with controllable thickness are successfully synthesized by a solution-based exfoliation-centrifugation route. Instead of complicated microfabrication techniques, a robust photoelectrochemical (PEC)-type photodetector, which can be extended to flexible device, is developed by simply using the GeH nanosheet film as an active electrode. The device exhibits an outstanding photocurrent density of 2.9 µA cm-2 with zero bias potential, excellent responsivity at around 22 µA W-1 under illumination with intensity ranging from 60 to 140 mW cm-2 , as well as short response time (with rise and decay times, tr = 0.24 s and td = 0.74 s). This efficient strategy for a constructing GeH-based PEC-type photodetector suggests a path to promising high-performance, self-powered, flexible photodetectors, and it also paves the way to a practical application of germanene.

RESUMO

Due to the complexity of, and low accuracy in, iron ore classification, a method of Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) combined with machine learning is proposed. In the research, we collected LIBS spectra of 10 iron ore samples. At the beginning, principal component analysis algorithm was employed to reduce the dimensionality of spectral data, then we applied k-nearest neighbor model, neural network model, and support vector machine model to the classification. The results showed that the accuracy of three models were 82.96%, 93.33%, and 94.07% respectively. The results also demonstrated that LIBS with machine learning model exhibits an excellent classification performance. Therefore, LIBS technique combined with machine learning can achieve a rapid, precise classification of iron ores, and can provide a completely new method for iron ores' selection in the metallurgical industry.

RESUMO

Muscle stiffness in the spinal region is essential for maintaining spinal function, and might be related to multiple spinal musculoskeletal disorders. However, information on the distribution of muscle stiffness along the spine in different postures in large subject samples has been lacking, which merits further investigation. This study introduced a new protocol of measuring bilateral back muscle stiffness along the thoracic and lumbar spine (at T3, T7, T11, L1 & L4 levels) with both ultrasound shear-wave elastography (SWE) and tissue ultrasound palpation system (TUPS) in the lying and standing postures of 64 healthy adults. Good inter-/intra-reliability existed in the SWE and TUPS back muscle stiffness measurements (ICC ≥ 0.731, p < 0.05). Back muscle stiffness at the L4 level was found to be the largest in the thoracic and lumbar regions (p < 0.05). The back muscle stiffness of males was significantly larger than that of females in both lying and standing postures (p < 0.03). SWE stiffness was found to be significantly larger in standing posture than lying among subjects (p < 0.001). It is reliable to apply SWE and TUPS to measure back muscle stiffness. The reported data on healthy young adults in this study may also serve as normative reference data for future studies on patients with scoliosis, low back pain, etc.

RESUMO

Objective: To explore the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on the motor recovery of stroke patients and the effect differences between the upper limb and lower limb. Methods: Randomized control trials published until January 2019 were searched from PubMed, Embase, ScienceDirect, and Cochrane Library databases. The standardized mean difference (SMD) with 95% confidence interval (CI) was estimated separately for upper and lower limb motor outcomes to understand the mean effect size. Results: Twenty-nine studies with 664 subjects were included in this meta-analysis. The overall analyses of tDCS demonstrated significant effect size both for the upper limb (SMD = 0.26, P = 0.002) and the lower limb (SMD = 0.47, P = 0.002). Compared with acute and subacute stroke patients, chronic stroke patients obtained significant effects after tDCS (SMD = 0.25, P = 0.03) in upper limb function. Furthermore, both anode and cathode stimulations produced significant effect size for stroke patients after ≤10 sessions of tDCS (anode: SMD = 0.40, P = 0.001; cathode: SMD = 0.79, P < 0.0001) with >0.029 mA/cm2 of density (anode: SMD = 0.46, P = 0.002; cathode: SMD = 0.79, P < 0.0001). But for lower limb function, more prominent effects were found in subacute stroke patients (SMD = 0.56, P = 0.001) with bilateral tDCS (SMD = 0.59, p = 0.009). Conclusion: tDCS is effective for the recovery of stroke patients with motor dysfunction. In addition, upper limb and lower limb functions obtain distinct effects from different therapeutic parameters of tDCS at different stages, respectively.

RESUMO

The cross-dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) reaction is an efficient strategy for indole synthesis. However, most CDC methods require special substrates, and the presence of inherent groups limits the versatility for further transformation. A carboxylic acid-promoted aerobic catalytic system is developed herein for a single-step synthesis of indoles from simple anilines and ketones. This versatile system is featured by the broad substrate scope and the use of ambient oxygen as an oxidant and is convenient and economical for both laboratory and industry applications. The existence of the labile hydrogen at C-3 and the highly transformable carbonyl at C-2 makes the indoles versatile building blocks for organic synthesis in different contexts. Computational studies based on the density functional theory (DFT) suggest that the rate-determining step is carboxylic acid-assisted condensation of the substrates, rather than the functionalization of aryl C-H. Accordingly, a pathway via imine intermediates is deemed to be the preferred mechanism. In contrast to the general deduction, the in situ formed imine, instead of its enamine isomer, is believed to be involved in the first ligand exchange and later carbopalladation of the α-Me, which shed new light on this indolization mechanism.

RESUMO

Ticks are the vectors of various pathogens, threatening human health and animal production across the globe. Here, for the first time we detected Ricketssia spp., Borrelia spp. and protozoan in ticks from Poyang Lake region in Ji- angxi Province of eastern China. In 3 habitat categories and on 12 host species, 311 ticks from 11 species were collected. Haemaphysalis longicornis was the predominant species, accounting for 55.63%, followed by Rhipicephalus microplus, Haemaphysalis flava and Ixodes granulatus. Of the collected ticks, 7.07% were positive for tick-borne pathogens, and H. longicornis and H. flava were found to be co-infected with Ricketssia spp. and protozoan. H. flava was the most detected positive for tick-borne pathogens, whereas H. longicornis had the lowest infection rate, and the difference in infection rates between tick species was significant (χ2=61.24, P<0.001). Furthermore, adult ticks demonstrated remarkably greater infection rate than immature ticks (χ2=10.12, P=0.018), meanwhile ticks on Erinaceidae showed significantly higher positivity than ticks collected on other host species (χ2=108.44, P<0.001). Genetic fragment sequencing and analyses showed at least 4 pathogen species presence in ticks, namely Borrelia yangtzensis, Rickettsia slovaca or Rickettsia raoultii related genospecies, Babesia vogeli and Hepatozoon canis or Hepatozoon felis related genospecies.
