RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Changes in oral microbiota composition (dysbiosis) have long been known to play a key role in the pathogenesis of oral and systemic diseases including respiratory diseases. However, till now, no study has assessed changes in oral microbiota following tuberculosis (TB) infection in humans. AIMS: This is the first study of its kind that aimed to investigate oral microbial dysbiosis in newly diagnosed, treatment naïve, TB patients. METHODS: Oral swab samples were collected from newly diagnosed TB patients (n = 20) and age, gender and ethnicity matched healthy controls (n = 10). DNA was extracted and microbiota analyzed by sequencing the hypervariable (V3-V4) region of the bacterial 16S rRNA gene using Illumina MiSeq platform. Bioinformatics and statistical analyses were performed using QIIME and R. RESULTS: Bacterial richness, diversity and community composition were significantly different between TB patients and healthy controls. The two groups also exhibit differential abundance at phylum, class, genus and species levels. LEfSe analysis revealed enrichment (LDA scores (log10) >2, P < 0.05) of Firmicutes (especially Streptococcus) and Actinobacteriota (especially Rothia) in TB patients relative to healthy controls. Gene function prediction analysis showed upregulation of metabolic pathways related to carbohydrates (butanoate, galactose) and fatty acids metabolism, antibiotics biosynthesis, proteosome and immune system signaling. CONCLUSION: These observations suggest significant variations in diversity, relative abundance and functional potential of oral microbiota of TB patients compared to healthy controls thereby suggesting potential role of oral bacterial dysbiosis in TB pathogenesis. However, longitudinal studies using powerful metagenomic and transcriptomic approaches are crucial to more fully understand and confrim these findings.

RESUMO

Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) is a rare systemic disorder of unknown aetiology. The histological findings comprise necrotising granulomatous inflammation of small arteries, arterioles, and the capillaries mainly of upper and lower respiratory tract and the kidneys. However, the disease rarely involves the cardiovascular system but may manifest as pericarditis, myocarditis, coronary arteritis, valvular lesions, and severe conduction disorders. We present an interesting, unusual, and complex case of a middle-aged man who initially presented with symptoms suggestive of Wagener's granulomatosis but two years later developed malignant ventricular arrhythmias. A diagnosis of exclusive involvement of the cardiac conduction system, without overt myocarditis, was made only after ruling it out by cardiac MRI, cardiac enzymes, echo, and normal serological markers. Evidence was paired with the cessation of monomorphic ventricular tachycardia due to induction therapy with Rituximab. In this case report, we highlight one of the rarest manifestations of GPA, i.e. Ventricular tachycardia without myocarditis.

RESUMO

Brassica napus plants exposed to 200 µM arsenic (As) exhibited high-level of stress condition, which led to inhibited growth, enhanced lipid peroxidation, and disrupted cellular ultrastructures. Exogenous application of methyl jasmonate (MeJA) alleviated the As-induced oxidative stress and improved the plant growth and photosynthesis. In this study, changes in the B. napus leaf proteome are investigated in order to identify molecular mechanisms involved in MeJA-induced As tolerance. The study identifies 177 proteins that are differentially expressed in cultivar ZS 758; while 200 differentially expressed proteins are accumulated in Zheda 622, when exposed to As alone and MeJA+As treatments, respectively. The main objective was to identify the MeJA-regulated protein under As stress. Consistent with this, iTRAQ detected 61 proteins which are significantly accumulated in ZS 758 leaves treated with MeJA under As stress. While in Zheda 622, iTRAQ detected 49 MeJA-induced proteins under As stress. These significantly expressed proteins are further divided into five groups on the base of their function, that is, stress and defense, photosynthesis, carbohydrates and energy production, protein metabolism, and secondary metabolites. Taken together, this study sheds light on the molecular mechanisms involved in MeJA-induced As tolerance in B. napus leaves and suggests a more active involvement of MeJA in plant physiological processes.

RESUMO

Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis also known as Churgg-Strauss syndrome is a systemic multi system vasculitis. Neurological involvement is mostly in the form of peripheral nervous system disease. Central nervous system involvement is relatively uncommon with most cases being secondary to ischaemic infarctions. Intra cerebral haemorrhage is rare and is usually in the form of solitary haemorrhagic lesions. Multiple intra cerebral haemorrhages are exceptionally rare with only one case documented in medical literature. Here, we present the case of a middle aged male who presented to us with multiple intra cerebral haemorrhages, mono neuritis multiplex, renal and respiratory tract involvement and peripheral blood eosinophilia. Upon fulfilling the American College of Rheumatology criteria, he was diagnosed as an exceptionally rare case of EGPA with multiple intra cerebral haemorrhages. He was treated with intra venous corticosteroids and immune suppressants, and made a good recovery.

RESUMO

This experiment was conducted to determine standardized ileal amino acid digestibility (SIAAD) of commonly used feed ingredients in poultry diets in Pakistan. These feed ingredients included corn, rice broken (RB), rice polishings (RP), wheat bran (WB), sunflower meal (SFM), cottonseed meal (CSM), guar meal (GM), soybean meal (SBM) from India and Argentine and fish meal (FM). The SIAAD of each ingredient was determined in triplicate using 21-days-old broilers. Day-old male broiler chicks (Hubbard× Hubbard) were reared on corn-SBM based diet from 1 to 13 days and thereafter birds were fed experimental diets from day 14 to 21. Each diet was fed to 36 birds kept in six replicate cages, each cage had six birds. In cereals, the SIAAD of corn's amino acid (AA) (90.1%) was similar (p>0.05) to RB (89.0%). Isoleucine (97.8%) and lysine (96.9%) were highly digestible AA in corn and RB, respectively. Among cereal-by products, WB's SIAAD (76.9%) was same (p>0.05) as RP (71.9%). Arginine from WB (82.5%) and RP (83.2%) was highly digestible. However, threonine in WB (72.7%) and leucine in RP (69.6%) were the lowest digestible AAs. In plant protein meals, AAs from Argentine-SBM (85.1%) and Indian-SBM (83.4%) had higher (p<0.5) SIAAD than other protein meals. However, SIAAD of SFM (77.1%) and CSM (71.7%) was intermediate while GM (60.3%) exhibited the lowest (p<0.05) SIAAD among all ingredients. Arginine from GM (76.9%), CSM (85.8%), SBM-India (89.5%) and SBM-Argentine (91.5%) was highly digestible from indispensable AAs. In SFM, methionine (91.4%) SIAAD was the greatest. The average SIAAD of FM was 77.6%. Alanine from FM had the highest (84.0%) but cysteine (62.8%) had the lowest SIAAD. In conclusion, cereals i.e. corn and RB had higher (p<0.05) SIAAD of the cereals by-products. The SIAAD of RP and WB was same (p>0.05). The SBM from plant protein meals had higher (p<0.05) SIAAD than other studied feed ingredients. However, the GM had the lowest (p<0.05) SIAAD among protein meals.

RESUMO

Borophene nanosheets appear in various sizes and shapes, ranging from simple planar structures to complicated polyhedral formations. Due to their unique chemical, optical, and electrical properties, Borophene nanosheets are theoretically and practically attractive and because of their high thermal conductivity, boron nanosheets are suitable for efficient heat transmission applications. In this paper, temperature indices of borophene nanosheets are computed and these indices are employed in QSPR analysis of attributes like Young's modulus, Shear modulus, and Poisson's ratio of borophene nanosheets and borophene ß12 sheets. The regression model for the F-Temperature index is discovered to be the best fit for shear modulus, the reciprocal product connectivity temperature index is discovered to be fit for Poisson's ratio and the second hyper temperature index is discovered to be fit for Young's modulus based on the correlation coefficient.

RESUMO

The impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in education can be viewed as a multi-attribute group decision-making (MAGDM) problem, in which several stakeholders evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of AI applications in educational settings according to distinct preferences and criteria. A MAGDM framework can assist in providing transparent and logical recommendations for implementing AI in education by methodically analyzing the trade-offs and conflicts among many components, including ethical, social, pedagogical, and technical concerns. A novel development in fuzzy set theory is the 2-tuple linguistic q-rung orthopair fuzzy set (2TLq-ROFS), which is not only a generalized form but also can integrate decision-makers quantitative evaluation ideas and qualitative evaluation information. The 2TLq-ROF Schweizer-Sklar weighted power average operator (2TLq-ROFSSWPA) and the 2TLq-ROF Schweizer-Sklar weighted power geometric (2TLq-ROFSSWPG) operator are two of the aggregation operators we create in this article. We also investigate some of the unique instances and features of the proposed operators. Next, a new Entropy model is built based on 2TLq-ROFS, which may exploit the preferences of the decision-makers to obtain the ideal objective weights for attributes. Next, we extend the VIseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) technique to the 2TLq-ROF version, which provides decision-makers with a greater space to represent their decisions, while also accounting for the uncertainty inherent in human cognition. Finally, a case study of how artificial intelligence has impacted education is given to show the applicability and value of the established methodology. A comparative study is carried out to examine the benefits and improvements of the developed approach.

RESUMO

The order Hymenoptera holds great significance for humans, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions, due to its role as a pollinator of wild and cultivated flowering plants, parasites of destructive insects and honey producers. Despite this importance, limited attention has been given to the genetic diversity and molecular identification of Hymenopteran insects in most protected areas. This study provides insights into the first DNA barcode of Hymenopteran insects collected from Hazarganji Chiltan National Park (HCNP) and contributes to the global reference library of DNA barcodes. A total of 784 insect specimens were collected using Malaise traps, out of which 538 (68.62%) specimens were morphologically identified as Hymenopteran insects. The highest abundance of species of Hymenoptera (133/538, 24.72%) was observed during August and least in November (16/538, 2.97%). Genomic DNA extraction was performed individually from 90/538 (16.73%) morphologically identified specimens using the standard phenol-chloroform method, which were subjected separately to the PCR for their molecular confirmation via the amplification of cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (cox1) gene. The BLAST analyses of obtained sequences showed 91.64% to 100% identities with related sequences and clustered phylogenetically with their corresponding sequences that were reported from Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, Finland, Germany, India, Israel, and Pakistan. Additionally, total of 13 barcode index numbers (BINs) were assigned by Barcode of Life Data Systems (BOLD), out of which 12 were un-unique and one was unique (BOLD: AEU1239) which was assigned for Anthidium punctatum. This indicates the potential geographical variation of Hymenopteran population in HCNP. Further comprehensive studies are needed to molecularly confirm the existing insect species in HCNP and evaluate their impacts on the environment, both as beneficial (for example, pollination, honey producers and natural enemies) and detrimental (for example, venomous stings, crop damage, and pathogens transmission).

RESUMO

Alectorobius species are soft ticks primarily infesting birds, such as swallows, while Dermacentor species are hard ticks mainly infesting mammals, such as small ruminants. This study for the first time reported on the morphological and molecular bases of two tick species, namely A. coniceps and a Dermacentor sp. in Pakistan. The former species was examined in swallows' nests in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, while the latter species was examined in small ruminants in Balochistan province. In total, 25 ticks were collected, with 14 ticks morphologically identified as A. coniceps (males = 9 and females = 5) and 11 ticks identified as Dermacentor sp. (males = 7 and females = 4). Following morphological identification, molecular identification was gained by obtaining 16S rDNA and cox1 sequences for these ticks. The BLAST results for the 16S rDNA and cox1 sequences from A. coniceps shared a maximum identity of 97.46% and 96.49% with the same species from Malta. The BLAST analysis of the 16S rDNA and cox1 sequences from Dermacentor sp. showed maximum identities of 98.42% and 97.45% with Dermacentor pavlovskyi from China. The phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rDNA and cox1 of A. coniceps showed a close evolutionary relationship with the same species. The case of Dermacentor sp., based on 16S DNA and cox1, indicated a close evolutionary relationship with Dermacentor pavlovskyi from China.

RESUMO

Background: Although lupus enteritis is a rare manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus yet results in significant distress. This disorder contributes to diagnostic and therapeutic dilemma leading to enhanced mortality. Case Description. We report a case history of a 29-year-old female who presented with severe abdominal pain, watery stools, and vomiting, and later on, she developed pancytopenia and renal impairment. On intensive workup, diagnosis of lupus-associated enteritis, nephritis, and pancytopenia was discovered. She improved drastically on initiation of plasmapheresis followed by low-dose intravenous rituximab. One year posttreatment, she remained in complete remission. Conclusion: From this case, it can be suggested that in a young female with intractable abdominal pain, the remote possibility of lupus enteritis must be kept in mind. Besides this, plasmapheresis can have a potential role in refractory lupus enteritis. Furthermore, low-dose intravenous rituximab can be a safe and cost-effective treatment option in achieving sustained remission of clinical and laboratory parameters in lupus enteritis.

RESUMO

The current study characterizes the effects of Hall current, Arrhenius activation energy and binary chemical reaction on the rotating flow of hybrid nanofluid in two double disks. By the use of suitable similarity transformations, the system of partial differential equations and boundary conditions for hybrid nanofluid are transformed to ordinary differential equations which are solved through optimal homotopy analysis method. The intensified magnetic field and hybrid nanofluid performances are represented in three dimensional model with flow, heat and mass transfer. Radial velocity decreases and tangential velocity increases with the Hall parameter. Temperature rises with high values of rotation parameter while it decreases with the Prandtl number. Nanoparticles concentration enhances with the increments in Arrhenius activation energy parameter and stretching parameter due to lower disk. There exists a close and favorable harmony in the results of present and published work.

RESUMO

The behavior of an Oldroyd-B nanoliquid film sprayed on a stretching cylinder is investigated. The system also contains gyrotactic microorganisms with heat and mass transfer flow. Similarity transformations are used to make the governing equations non-dimensional ordinary differential equations and subsequently are solved through an efficient and powerful analytic technique namely homotopy analysis method (HAM). The roles of all dimensionless profiles and spray rate have been investigated. Velocity decreases with the magnetic field strength and Oldroyd-B nanofluid parameter. Temperature is increased with increasing the Brownian motion parameter while it is decreased with the increasing values of Prandtl and Reynolds numbers. Nanoparticle's concentration is enhanced with the higher values of Reynolds number and activation energy parameter. Gyrotactic microorganism density increases with bioconvection Rayleigh number while it decreases with Peclet number. The film size naturally increases with the spray rate in a nonlinear way. A close agreement is achieved by comparing the present results with the published results.

RESUMO

The worldwide COVID-19 outbreak that crushed the global economy and healthcare increased the public willingness to acquire more information and enthusiasm to engage online among billions of users through social networks. As more towns, cities, and regions turn to lockdown, government social media accounts (GSMAs) develop as a trustworthy source to obtain information about the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, investigating the determinants and consequences of citizens' participation behavior on GSMAs is essential. Drawing on the self-determination theory (SDT) and civic volunteer model (CVM), we examine the influence of motivational factors (i.e., intrinsic extrinsic) on citizens' participation behavior on GSMAs, which leads to online civic behavior. Comparative research between China and Pakistan is carried out using data collected through an online survey. This study shows that information-seeking, political benefits, self-development, altruism, and perceived reciprocity are the critical antecedents of citizens' participatory behavior on GSMAs in both countries, resulting in online civic behavior. Furthermore, moderating results reveal that perceived connectivity moderates the relationship between certain motivational factors (intrinsic and extrinsic) and citizens' participatory behavior on GSMAs, whereas trust in government moderates the relationship between participatory behavior on GSMAs and online civic behavior during COVID-19. Theoretical and managerial implications are discussed in detail.

RESUMO

This investigation studied the effects of different feed withdrawal times, water temperatures, and their interaction on growth performance, carcass traits, blood parameters, and health aspects of native turkeys (Egyptian local breed). We distributed native turkey poults (n = 180; 4 wk old) into 3 groups according to feed withdrawal time (ad libitum; feed withdrawal from 800 to 1,400 h, FW8 to 14; and feed withdrawal from 1,400 to 2,000 h, FW14 to 20). Each group was further divided into 2 subgroups corresponding to water temperature (ordinary and chilled water). Our results indicated that birds of FW14 to 20 exhibited the highest (P = 0.0001) body weight (BW) and average daily gain (ADG), whereas turkeys that drank chilled water displayed a higher BW than those that drank ordinary water. Turkeys that were kept under FW8 to 14 and drank chilled water displayed the highest BW at marketing and ADG from 4 to 16 wk of age. The lowest feed conversion ratio (FCR) was exhibited in turkeys kept off feed under the FW14 to 20 regime. Birds that were kept under FW14 to 20 and received chilled water showed the lowest FCR. The meat color scores of the birds that drank chilled water were higher than those that drank ordinary water, whereas birds kept off feed under the FW14 to 20 regime displayed the highest tenderness and juiciness, followed by those fed ad libitum. Turkeys reared under FW14 to 20 exhibited the highest albumin/globulin ratio and glucose content but the lowest globulin and aspartate transaminase (AST) values. Birds that were kept under FW14 to 20 and drank chilled water displayed the lowest corticosterone concentration. Turkeys reared under FW14 to 20 presented the lowest body temperature. Birds that drank chilled water exhibited a lower body temperature than those that drank ordinary water. Turkeys that were fed ad libitum and drank chilled water displayed the lowest body temperature. Conclusively, applying feed withdrawal and cold water had benefits in turkeys during heat stress. Applying these treatments as managerial alternatives for raising native turkeys during the summer season is highly recommended.

RESUMO

This experiment was conducted to observe the effects of varying swimming times (ST) of Muscovy ducks, raised in an open-sided house, in alleviating the deleterious effects of high temperature in hotter times of the day in the summer season on growth performance (body weight, average daily gain, feed consumption, and feed conversion ratio), carcass characteristics, body temperature, and some health aspects. We hypothesized that swimming times during the hottest periods of the day would show different performances. To test this hypothesis a total of 180 Muscovy ducklings were randomly distributed into 4 equal groups in a completely randomized design experiment. All groups were raised under similar housing conditions. Birds of the first group (C) were raised in the indoor system and had no access to a swimming pond. While all birds of the second, third, and fourth groups (T1, T2, and T3) had access to a swimming pond during 10:00 to 12:00 h, 12:00 to 14:00 h, and 14:00 to 16:00 h, respectively. The swimming pond (dimensions of 30 m length × 10 m width × 3 m depth with cement floor) was located in the front of the house. Vaccination and medical programs were undertaken according to the different ages under supervision of a licensed veterinarian. The obtained results indicated that swimming during 12:00 to 14:00 h improved (P < 0.05) growth performance, dressed carcass, meat tenderness, lymphocyte, heterophils/lymphocytes ratio, body temperature, and mortality rate of Muscovy ducks. However, bone measurement, plumage conditions, foot pad dermatitis, hock discoloration, breast blisters score, and blood hematocrit values were insignificantly better in the group with access to the swimming pond during 12:00 to 14:00 h. In conclusion, raising ducks during hot conditions in an open-sided house with access to a swimming pond at 12:00 to 14:00 h is highly recommended due to the high BW, better immunity, decreased mortality rate, and low body temperature of ducks which was positively reflected in the health condition.

RESUMO

Rapeseed meal (RSM) is a commonly used protein source in poultry diet but its usage is limited due to antinutritional factors, the glucosinolates (GLS) and erucic acid. The 00-rapeseed meal (00-RSM) is the developed variety of rapeseed with reduced GLS and erucic acid content through genetic selection. The present study was conducted with the objective of comparing the standardized ileal digestibility (SID) of amino acids (AA) in 00-RSM and RSM when fed to growing broilers. Three samples of each ingredient were collected from different sources. Two hundred and fifty two day-old male broilers (Hubbard × Hubbard) were fed a corn-soybean meal based starter diet in crumble form from day 1 to 13. On day 14, all chicks were individually weighed and randomly distributed to 42 replicate pens (6 birds in each pen). Six test diets (2 ingredient × 3 samples) with approximately 20% crude protein were made in mash form in such a way that the 6 test ingredients served as the sole source of AA in one diet. The endogenous AAs (EAA) were determined by feeding a nitrogen-free diet to six replicate pens. Each test diet was fed to six replicates of broiler chicks from 14 to 21 days of age. Results indicated that the SID of all AA differed (P < 0.001) among 00-RSM samples. Among RSM samples, the SID of AA varied for arginine, methionine (P < 0.01), histidine, leucine, lysine, aspartic acid, and phenylalanine (P < 0.05). A greater (P < 0.05) SID of all AA except arginine, histidine, phenylalanine, cysteine, and glutamic acid was observed in 00-RSM compared with RSM. In conclusion, 00-RSM had greater SID of AA compared with RSM and it is nutritionally superior to RSM to be used in broiler diets.
