RESUMO

Acetohydroxyacid synthase (AHAS) is one of the key enzymes of the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids, it is also an effective target for the screening of herbicides and antibiotics. In this study we present a method for preparing Escherichia coli AHAS I holoenzyme (EcAHAS I) with exceptional stability, which provides a solid ground for us to re-investigate the in vitro catalytic properties of the protein. The results show EcAHAS I synthesized in this way exhibits similar function to Bacillus subtilis acetolactate synthase in its catalysis with pyruvate and 2-ketobutyrate (2-KB) as dual-substrate, producing four 2-hydroxy-3-ketoacids including (S)-2-acetolactate, (S)-2-aceto-2-hydroxybutyrate, (S)-2-propionyllactate, and (S)-2-propionyl-2-hydroxybutyrate. Quantification of the reaction indicates that the two substrates almost totally consume, and compound (S)-2-aceto-2- hydroxybutyrate forms in the highest yield among the four major products. Moreover, the protein also condenses two molecules of 2-KB to furnish (S)-2-propionyl-2-hydroxybutyrate. Further exploration manifests that EcAHAS I ligates pyruvate/2-KB and nitrosobenzene to generate two arylhydroxamic acids N-hydroxy-N-phenylacetamide and N-hydroxy-N-phenyl- propionamide. These findings enhance our comprehension of the catalytic characteristics of EcAHAS I. Furthermore, the application of this enzyme as a catalyst in construction of C-N bonds displays promising potential.

BACKGROUND: Cathepsin S (CTSS) is a cysteine protease that played diverse roles in immunity, tumor metastasis, aging and other pathological alterations. At the cellular level, increased CTSS levels have been associated with the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines and disrupted the homeostasis of Ca2+ flux. Once CTSS was suppressed, elevated levels of anti-inflammatory cytokines and changes of Ca2+ influx were observed. These findings have inspired us to explore the potential role of CTSS on cognitive functions. METHODS: We conducted classic Y-maze and Barnes Maze tests to assess the spatial and working memory of Ctss-/- mice, Ctss+/+ mice and Ctss+/+ mice injected with the CTSS inhibitor (RJW-58). Ex vivo analyses including long-term potentiation (LTP), Golgi staining, immunofluorescence staining of sectioned whole brain tissues obtained from experimental animals were conducted. Furthermore, molecular studies were carried out using cultured HT-22 cell line and primary cortical neurons that treated with RJW-58 to comprehensively assess the gene and protein expressions. RESULTS: Our findings reported that targeting cathepsin S (CTSS) yields improvements in cognitive function, enhancing both working and spatial memory in behavior models. Ex vivo studies showed elevated levels of long-term potentiation levels and increased synaptic complexity. Microarray analysis demonstrated that brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) was upregulated when CTSS was knocked down by using siRNA. Moreover, the pharmacological blockade of the CTSS enzymatic activity promoted BDNF expression in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Notably, the inhibition of CTSS was associated with increased neurogenesis in the murine dentate gyrus. These results suggested a promising role of CTSS modulation in cognitive enhancement and neurogenesis. CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest a critical role of CTSS in the regulation of cognitive function by modulating the Ca2+ influx, leading to enhanced activation of the BDNF/TrkB axis. Our study may provide a novel strategy for improving cognitive function by targeting CTSS.

BACKGROUND: The relationship between vitamin D status and mortality among adults with hypertension remains unclear. METHODS: This prospective cohort study involved a sample of 19,500 adults with hypertension who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2001 to 2018. We utilized a weighted COX proportional hazard model to assess the association between vitamin D status and mortality. This statistical model calculates hazard ratios (HR) and their corresponding 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). RESULTS: The study indicated that lower serum 25(OH)D concentration was associated with an increased risk of all-cause mortality among individuals with hypertension. Specially. Those with concentrations between 25.0 and 49.9 nmol/L (HR = 1.71, 95%CI = 1.22-2.40) and less than 25.0 nmol/L (HR = 1.97, 95%CI = 1.15-3.39) had higher hazard ratios for all-cause mortality. Individuals with hypertension who took vitamin D supplements had a lower risk of all-cause mortality, but not the risk of CVD mortality (HR 0.75, 95%CI 0.54-1.03), compared to those who did not supplement (HR = 0.76, 95%CI = 0.61-0.94). Subgroup analysis further revealed that vitamin D supplementation was associated with a reduced risk of all-cause mortality among individuals without diabetes (HR = 0.65, 95%CI = 0.52-0.81) and individuals without CVD (HR = 0.75, 95%CI = 0.58-0.97), and a decreased risk of CVD mortality among individuals without diabetes (HR = 0.63, 95%CI = 0.45-0.88) and without CVD (HR = 0.61, 95%CI = 0.40-0.92). Furthermore, higher-dose vitamin D supplementation was also associated with a greater reduction in all-cause mortality among hypertensive individuals, and there was the potential synergistic effect of combining normal-dose calcium and vitamin D supplementation, showing a superior effect on mortality compared to low-dose supplementation in adults with hypertension. CONCLUSIONS: This prospective cohort study demonstrated a significant association between lower serum 25 (OH)D concentration and increased all-cause mortality among adults with hypertension. Furthermore, the study found that vitamin D supplementation had a strong and significantly positive correlation with reduced all-cause and CVD mortality among hypertensive individuals without diabetes or CVD. This positive correlation suggests that vitamin D supplementation could potentially be an effective strategy to reduce the risk of mortality in this specific group of people.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the performance of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC; values or category) alone, Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System version 2.1 (PI-RADS v2.1) scoring alone, and the two in combination, to diagnose transition zone prostate cancers (PCas). METHODS: This retrospective study included 222 patients who underwent multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging of the prostate between May 2020 and December 2022 and who had pathologically confirmed PCa or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System version 2.1 and ADC (values or category) were used in the assessment of suspicious findings identified in the transition zone. The interobserver agreements for region-of-interest measurements were calculated by intraclass correlation coefficients. Logistic regression analyses were used to determine the performance of PI-RADS v2.1 alone and in combination with ADC (values or category) to diagnose PCa. Receiver operating characteristic curve and DeLong test were used to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the quantitative parameters. RESULTS: A total of 152 patients had BPH, and 70 patients had PCa. For BPH versus PCa, the ADC values of PCa (0.64 × 10 -3 ± 0.16 × 10 -3 mm 2 /s) were significantly lower than BPH (1.06 ± 0.18 × 10 -3 mm 2 /s; P < 0.001). The PI-RADS scores for PCa (5 [interquartile range, 5-5]) were significantly higher than BPH (2 [interquartile range, 2-3]; P < 0.001). For all patients who had PI-RADS 1-5, the combined use of ADC (values or category) together with PI-RADS v2.1 did not perform significantly better than the use of PI-RADS v2.1 alone. The receiver operating characteristic of ADC category in combination with PI-RADS v2.1 score, 0.756 (95% confidence interval, 0.646-0.846), was significantly higher than that for PI-RADS 2.1 alone, 0.631 (95% confidence interval, 0.514-0.738), in PI-RADS 3-4 lesions ( P = 0.047). CONCLUSION: The ADC category can help to improve the diagnostic performance of PI-RADS v2.1 category 3-4 lesions in diagnosing PCa.

OBJECTIVE: To present the prenatal sonographic features and genomic spectrum of pregnancies with fetal Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS). METHODS: This was a retrospective study of 11 cases with BBS diagnosed by prenatal ultrasound and confirmed by genetic testing. Clinical and laboratory data were collected and reviewed for these cases, including maternal demographics, prenatal sonographic findings, molecular testing sequencing results, and pregnancy outcomes. RESULTS: All cases had unremarkable first-trimester ultrasound scans without reporting limb malformations. All had second-trimester abnormal ultrasounds: postaxial polydactyly in nine cases (9/11), renal abnormalities in seven (7/11), reduced amniotic fluid volume in two (2/11), central nervous system anomalies in two (2/11), and ascites in three (3/11). Ten fetuses presented with at least two-system anomalies, and one (Case 11) presented with only postaxial polydactyly. Variants were detected in five genes, including BBS2, ARL6/BBS3, BBS7, CEP290/BBS14 and IFT74/BBS22. Ten pregnancies were terminated in the second trimester, while one continued to term. CONCLUSION: Enlarged hyperechogenic kidneys and postaxial polydactyly are the two most common sonographic features of fetal BBS. Prenatal diagnosis of BBS can be done with ultrasound and genetic testing although the diagnosis may be made in the second trimester.

BACKGROUND: To describe clinical features and intraoperative findings of the patients with exotropia who presented mild V-pattern or vertical deviation, and to investigate the surgical outcomes of anatomical relocation of inferiorly displaced lateral rectus (LR) muscle insertion. METHODS: Detailed ophthalmological evaluations were obtained in 42 consecutive patients, and the horizontal rectus muscle insertions were detected intraoperatively. The displaced insertion of LR muscle was corrected accompanied with classic recession-resection procedure. RESULTS: The inferiorly displaced LR muscle insertions were detected in 19 patients (Group A), while the remaining 23 patients (Group B) had normal insertions. The mean distance of displaced insertion from the normal position was 2.92 ± 1.05 mm (range: 1.0-4.0). Mild V-pattern was more common in Group A (78.9%, 15/19) than Group B (47.8%, 11/23), and the magnitude of V-pattern in Group A (6.16 ± 3.91 PD) was also greater than Group B (3.43 ± 3.92 PD). The fundus extorsions of the affected eyes (9.68 ± 4.77 °) were greater than the contralateral eyes (5.91 ± 5.82 °) in Group A. At the 2 months follow-up, mild V-pattern and mild vertical deviation were corrected by upward transposition. The significant correlations were identified between the pre-operative misalignments and the amounts of misalignments correction. CONCLUSIONS: Nearly half of the cases with mild V-pattern or vertical deviation resulted from the inferiorly displaced LR muscle insertion, so the intraoperative exploration of the LR muscle insertion is strongly suggested. Upward transposition may effectively correct both the mild V-pattern and vertical deviation.

PURPOSE: To investigate the effect of the interval between bilateral cochlear implantation on the development of bilateral peripheral auditory pathways as revealed by the electrically evoked auditory brainstem response (EABR). METHODS: Fifty-eight children with profound bilateral sensorineural hearing loss were recruited. Among them, 33 children received sequential bilateral cochlear implants (CIs), and 25 children received simultaneous bilateral CIs. The bilateral EABRs evoked by electrical stimulation from the CI electrode were recorded on the day of second-side CI activation. RESULTS: The latencies of wave III (eIII) and wave V (eV) were significantly shorter on the first CI side than on the second CI side in children with sequential bilateral CIs but were similar between the two sides in children with simultaneous bilateral CIs. Furthermore, the latencies were prolonged from apical to basal channels along the cochlea in the two groups. In children with sequential CIs, the inter-implant interval was negatively correlated with the eV latency on the first CI side and was positively correlated with bilateral differences in the eIII and eV latencies. CONCLUSIONS: Unilateral CI use promotes the maturation of ipsilateral auditory conduction function. However, a longer inter-implant interval results in more unbalanced development of bilateral auditory brainstem pathways. Bilateral cochlear implantation with no or a short interval is recommended.

A prominent methodological issue in cognitive research on bilingualism is the lack of consistency in measuring second language (L2) proficiency. To reduce the inconsistency in L2 proficiency measurements, brief and valid vocabulary tests have been developed as an objective measure of proficiency in a variety of languages (e.g., English, French, Spanish). Here, we present LexCHI, a valid lexical test to measure Chinese proficiency. This freely available short test consists of 60 two-character items presented in simplified Chinese. Although it only takes a few minutes to complete LexCHI, the LexCHI scores in two studies correlated significantly with L2 participants' performance in a translation task and a cloze test. We believe that LexCHI is a useful tool for researchers who need to objectively measure Chinese proficiency as part of their investigations.

Samarium diiodide (SmI2) mediated reductive coupling reactions are powerful methods for the construction of carbon-carbon bond in organic synthesis. Despite the extensive development in recent decades, successful examples of the corresponding asymmetric reactions remained scarce, probably due to the involvement of highly reactive radical intermediates. In this Article, we report an enantioselective dearomatization of indoles via SmI2-mediated intermolecular reductive coupling with ketones. The utilization of samarium reductant supported by chiral tridentate aminodiol ligands allows the facile synthesis of indoline molecules bearing two contiguous stereogenic centers in high yields (up to 99%) and stereoselectivity (up to 99:1 er and >20:1 dr). Combined experimental and computational investigations suggested that parallel single-electron transfer to each substrate from the chiral samarium reductant allows the radical-radical recombination in an enantioselective manner, which is a unique mechanistic scenario in SmI2-mediated reductive coupling reactions.

Mitochondrial miRNAs (mitomiRs) are essential regulators of biological processes by influencing mitochondrial gene expression and function. To comprehensively understand related pathological processes and treatments, simultaneous imaging of multiple mitomiRs is crucial. In this study, we present a technique that enables simultaneous monitoring of multiple mitomiRs in living cells using a near-infrared (NIR) photoactivated controlled detection probe (PD-mFleU) with a fluorescence-encoded error correction module and a nonsupervised machine learning data-processing algorithm. This method allows controlled sensing imaging of mitomiRs with a DNA reporter probe that can be activated by NIR light after targeted mitochondrial localization. Multilayer upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) are used for encoding probes and error correction. Additionally, the density-based spatial clustering of applications with the noise (DBSCAN) algorithm is used to process and analyze the image. Using this technique, we achieved rapid in situ imaging of the abnormal expression of three mitomiRs (miR-149, miR-590, and miR-671) related to mt-ND1 in drug-resistant cells. Furthermore, upregulating the three mitomiRs simultaneously efficiently reverted drug-resistant cells to sensitive cells. Our study provides an analytical strategy for multiplex imaging of mitomiRs in living cells with potential clinical applications.

A precolumn derivatization-HPLC method using 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine and 4-nitro-o-phenylenediamine as respective labeling reagents for comprehensive analyses of the reactions catalyzed by acetohydroxyacid synthase (AHAS)/acetolactate synthase (ALS) is developed and evaluated in this research. Comparison with the classic Bauerle' UV assay which can analyze the enzymes only through measurement of acetoin production, the HPLC method shows advantages because it can analyze the enzymes not only via determination of consumption of the substrate pyruvate, but also via measurement of formation of the products including acetoin, 2,3-butanedione, and acetaldehyde in the enzymatic reactions. Thus the results deduced from the HPLC method can reflect the trait of each enzyme in a more precise manner. As far as we know, this is the first time that the reactions mediated by AHAS/ALS using pyruvate as a single substrate are globally analyzed and the features of the enzymes are properly discussed.

The oxidation of primary alcohols to the corresponding carboxylic acids is one of the fundamental and useful reactions in organic synthesis. In this paper, we report our comprehensive results toward the oxidation of primary alcohols and aldehydes to acids via hydride transfer reactions mediated by 1-hydroxycyclohexyl phenyl ketone. Under the strong basic conditions of sodium tert-butoxide, the room temperature oxidations tolerate a range of functional groups, including vulnerable tert-butanesulfinamides, amines, sulfides, olefins, and heterocycles, and provide good to excellent yields. Most importantly, our oxidation procedure can be applied to chemoselective oxidation of primary alcohols and aldehydes to carboxylic acids in the presence of secondary alcohols.

Noonan syndrome (NS) is a common clinical variable disease characterized by a number of features, mainly including congenital heart defects, short stature, and a variable degree of developmental delay. This disorder is transmitted mostly in an autosomal dominant manner and is genetically heterogeneous. We report three prenatal cases of LZTR1-related recessive NS. One case had a recurrent cystic hygroma at 13 weeks gestation and the pregnancy was terminated. Two cases had an increased nuchal translucency at 12 weeks' gestation, but a normal second trimester ultrasound; both presented with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in the third trimester. The two infants were diagnosed with NS after birth. All of the three cases had invasive genetic investigations during pregnancy, and trio exome sequencing revealed biallelic likely pathogenic or pathogenic LZTR1 variants in the fetuses. All parents were LZTR1 variant carriers. Our report further strengthens the association of LZTR1 with an autosomal recessive form of NS. The affected fetuses are more likely to have cardiac anomalies. Clarification of molecular diagnosis has important implications in these families because they carry a 25% recurrence risk.

To explore the effect of music therapy on children with leukemia who have peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC).In this study, we divided 107 patients undergoing PICC into music group (47 cases) and control group (60 cases). The music group received music therapy during PICC, while the control group was given no complementary treatment. The total length of catheterization, the use of sedatives and the changes of pain level and emotion level before and after PICC placement were compared between two groups.Compared with the control group, the total PICC placement time of the music group was significantly shorter (35(30-40) vs. 60(60-60); Z = -8.307; p < 0.001), and the use of sedative medications was also significantly reduced (4.35% (n = 2) vs. 91.84% (n = 45); p < 0.001). Moreover, the pain of catheterization was significantly alleviated. The median difference of pain scores of the music group was significantly less (2(1-3) vs. 5(5-5); p < 0.001). The mood of patients was also improved. The median difference of emotional scores of the music group was significantly more (5(4.75-6) vs. 3(3-3); p < 0.001) than the control group.Music therapy is effective to use in PICC. It can shorten the treatment time, reduce the use of sedative medications, and improve the children's emotion and pain response significantly, which is worth clinical application.

Notwithstanding the advantages of incorporating Augmented Reality (AR) in education, AR's concrete uses as compared to other technologies are not fully recognised. Moreover, many of the existing studies have neglected to examine the impact of pedagogy and its corresponding instructional models, whilst implementing AR in teaching and learning. In leveraging the affordances of AR, an inquiry-based learning framework, referred to as QIMS, was proposed in this study. A learning package was developed on the topic of plant reproduction for primary 5 students (aged 11-12) based on the QIMS framework. Using a quasi-experimental approach, this study evaluated three conditions (AR and QIMS; QIMS; Non-AR and Non-QIMS) for a series of science lessons in a primary school. 117 students took part in this study. The quantitative results showed that although there was no statistically significant difference in students' academic performance when AR was used, students' self-directed learning and creative thinking skills increased significantly after partaking in the QIMS inquiry-based lessons. The usage of AR and QIMS had a significant effect in increasing students' critical thinking and knowledge creation efficacy skills. Moreover, in view of students' academic outcomes, the integration of QIMS and AR proved to be more beneficial to low-progress students. Qualitative analysis of the interview data from teachers and students aids in accounting for the quantitative results and indicate productive implementation strategies. RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To diagnose coronary artery stenosis by using the postmortem computed tomography angiography (PMCTA), and to explore the diagnostic value of PMCTA in sudden cardiac death. METHODS: Six death cases were selected, and the contrast medium iohexol was injected under high pressure through femoral artery approach with 5F pigtail catheter to obtain coronary image data and then the data was analyzed. The results of targeted coronary imaging and coronary artery calcium score (CaS) were compared with the results of conventional autopsy and histopathological examination. RESULTS: The autopsy and histopathological examination of cases with coronary artery stenosis obtained similar results in targeted coronary angiography, with a diagnostic concordance rate of 83.3%. Targeted coronary angiography could effectively show coronary artery diseases, and the CaS was consistent with the results of conventional autopsy and histopathological examination. CONCLUSIONS: Targeted coronary angiography can be used as an effective auxiliary method for conventional autopsy in cases of sudden cardiac death.

Engagement is positively correlated with many educational outcomes. However, engaging learners in online learning is often challenging. In this study, a conceptual framework comprising five interrelated factors (instructors, learners, content, technology, and environments) was proposed. The purpose of the study was to explore how learners could be engaged by following the conceptual framework in synchronous online learning. Fifty-five adult learners took part in the study. Specific strategies were applied in four classes. A survey with 38 five-point Likert scale items and an open-ended question was administered. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected and analysed. Results showed that instructors, learners, and content were the core factors affecting learners' engagement. Comparatively, the learners' engagement was less affected by the factors of technology and environments. Results further showed that useful strategies to engage learners included providing opportunities for instructors and peers to interact frequently; having relevant content that could apply to practice; involving interactive activities like group discussions and peer feedback; and having informal conversations with individual learners. This study suggests that future studies can investigate facilitating synchronous online discussions, establishing social connectedness, and using technology to monitor learners' engagement automatically.

Quantification of exosomal multi-miRNA can reveal the initiation, progression, and metastasis of tumors, which is conducive to the noninvasive early diagnosis of cancer. However, low-sensitivity and single-plex detection characteristics of traditional methods seriously hinder the accuracy and specificity of exosomal miRNAs in cancer diagnosis. Herein, we design an ultramultiplexing strategy that enables simultaneous and sensitive detection of multiple exosomal miRNAs by nanosatellites (magnetic beads (MBs) @ NaLnF4) and catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) amplification in combination with inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) to diagnose cancer accurately. The competitive binding of target exosomal miRNAs with the recognition sequences on nanosatellites triggers the drop of NaLnF4 from MBs, followed by a CHA reaction that releases more NaLnF4 labels for ICP-MS detection. This method is used to detect ten types of miRNAs simultaneously with a detection limit of 0.01 fM, which is one order of magnitude lower than the quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) method. Linear discriminant analysis as a machine learning algorithm is subsequently applied to analyze the signals of exosomal multi-miRNA, and the discrimination accuracy of ten cell exosomes reaches 98.6%. In a clinical cohort of 42 patients, including five cancer types and healthy controls, exosomal multi-miRNA analysis achieves accurate cancer diagnosis and classification with 100% accuracy. Our results show that the combination of nanosatellites, CHA, and ICP-MS provides a universal biosensing platform for simultaneous and ultrasensitive detection of multiple targets.

Acetolactate decarboxylase (ALDC) is a well-characterized catabolic enzyme catalyzes the decarboxylation of (±)-acetolactate to produce a single product, (R)-acetoin. It can also convert other racemic α-hydroxy-ß-ketoacids to corresponding α -hydroxyketones in R-configuration. In this work, we prepared ALDC of Streptococcus thermophilus (StALDC) and explored its stereoselectivity on different substrates. The enzyme displays no enantioselectivity on substrate (±)-acetolactate, but R-selectivity on product acetoin, which are identical with the data reported for various ALDCs. When compound (±)-2-propionyl-2-hydroxybutyrate is used as a substrate, however, the enzyme exhibits S-selectivity on both substrate and product, namely it can only decarboxylate (S)-2-propionyl-2-hydroxybutyrate to generate (S)-4-hydroxy-3-hexanone rather than its R-isomer, which is totally discriminate from the data published for the ALDC of Bacillus subtilis. As far as we know, this is the first time that substrate dependent enantioselectivity of ALDC is reported and the feature of StALDC is also discussed on the basis of homology modeling and molecular docking experiments.

PURPOSE: Left upper mediastinal lymph node dissection (UMLND)-a technically demanding step of McKeown esophagectomy-is frequently complicated by recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) palsy. Under the hypothesis that robotic esophagectomy (RE) could increase the safety and feasibility of UMLND, we retrospectively investigated the degree to which a pre-existing experience in video-assisted thoracoscopic esophagectomy (VATE) may affect the learning curves of this critical part of RE. METHODS: Surgeon A had previously performed > 150 VATE procedures before transitioning to RE. While surgeon B had previously assisted to 50 RE, his pre-existing VATE experience consisted of less than five procedures. A total of 103 and 76 McKeown RE procedures were performed by surgeons A and B, respectively. The learning curve of left UMLND for each surgeon was examined using the cumulative sum method. RESULTS: The inflection point of RLN palsy for surgeon A occurred at patient 31. While the nerve palsy rate decreased from 32.3 to 4.2% (p < 0.001), the number of nodes harvested during left UMLND did not appreciably change. Surgeon B showed a bimodal learning curve for RLN palsy with primary and secondary inflection points at patients 15 and 49, respectively. The RLN palsy rate initially decreased from 66.7% (patients 1-15) to 14.7% (patients 16-49), followed by an additional decline to 3.7% (patients 50-76). However, the number of nodes harvested during left UMLND showed a downtrend which was paralleled by decreasing rates of RLN palsy. These results indicate that surgeon B has not yet reached an ideal balance between an extensive UMLND and nerve protection. CONCLUSION: The pre-existing VATE experience seems to affect the learning curves of left UMLND during RE.
