RESUMO

Trilocha varians is one of the major pests of Ficus spp. Based on 19 bioclimatic variables provided by the Worldclim, our study analysed the suitable distribution areas of T. varians under current and future climate changes (SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, SSP5-8.5) for two periods (the 2050s and 2090s) using the maximum entropy algorithm (MaxEnt) model. Key environmental variables affecting the geographic distribution of T. varians were also identified, and the changes in the area of suitable range under current and future climate changes were compared. The results showed that the key environmental variables affecting the distribution of T. varians were temperature and precipitation, comprising annual mean temperature (bio1), temperature seasonality (standard deviation × 100) (bio4), precipitation of driest month (bio14), and precipitation of driest quarter (bio17). Under the current climatic conditions, the suitable distribution area of T. varians is within the range of 92°13'E-122°08'E, 18°17'N-31°55'N. The current high, medium, and low suitable areas for T. varians predicted by the MaxEnt model are 14.00 × 104, 21.50 × 104, and 71.95 × 104 km2, of which the high suitable areas are mainly distributed in southern Guangdong, southwestern Guangxi, western Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Hainan. Under different future climatic conditions, some of the high, medium, and low suitability zones for T. varians increased and some decreased, but the mass centre did not migrate significantly. The Pearl River Basin is predicted to remain the main distribution area of T. varians.

RESUMO

Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) causes serious threats to human life. Naringenin, a polyphenolic compound naturally occurring in citrus fruit, has cardioprotective effects against myocardial I/R injury. Besides, miR-24-3p is also reported to have cardioprotective effects. We intended to explore whether the cardioprotective effects of naringenin relate to miR-24-3p and its underlying mechanism. In this study, we used an in vivo rat myocardial I/R model and an in vitro cardiomyocyte H9c2 hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) model. Myocardial injury was detected by hematoxylin-eosin staining and ELISA for creatine kinase (CK), malondialdehyde (MDA), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH). miR-24-3p and cell death inducing p53 target 1 (Cdip1) mRNA expressions were examined by RT-PCR. We find that naringenin pretreatment significantly relieves myocardial I/R injury, reduces LDH, CD, and MDA levels, and increases miR-24-3p expression. Furthermore, miR-24-3p alleviates myocardial I/R injury partially through regulating Cdip1. Moreover, naringenin protects myocardial I/R injury partially by regulating miR-24-3p to inhibit Cdip1 expression. In conclusion, our data suggest naringenin protects myocardial I/R injury partially through miR-24-3p/Cdip1 axis.

RESUMO

Essential oils are secondary metabolites in plants with a variety of biological activities. The flavor and quality of Zanthoxylum armatum DC. are mainly determined by the essential oil components in the Chinese prickly ash peels. In this study, the correlation between climate change in different regions and the content of essential oils of Z. armatum was investigated using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and multivariate statistical analysis. The Z1-24 refers to 24 batches of samples from different habitats. A total of 145 essential oils were detected in 24 batches of samples, with the highest number of terpene species and the highest content of alcohol. The relative odor activity (ROAV) values identified nine main flavor compounds affecting the odor of Z. armatum. Linalool, decanal, and d-limonene were the most critical main flavor compounds, giving Z. armatum a spicy, floral, oily, and fruity odor. The results of hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) and principal component analysis (PCA) classified Z5 into a separate group, Z2 and Z7 were clustered into one group, and the rest of the samples were classified into another group. Correlation analysis and path analysis showed that temperature and precipitation were the main climatic factors affecting essential oils. Comparisons can be made with other plants in the genus Zanthoxylum to analyze differences in essential oil type and content. This study contributes to the identification of Z. armatum quality, promotes the accumulation of theories on the effects of climatic factors on essential oils, and enriches the site selection and breeding of Z. armatum under similar climatic conditions.

RESUMO

This overview of systematic reviews (SRs) and meta-analysis (MAs) aimed to systematically collate, appraise and synthesize evidence for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) with the external application of Chinese herbal medicine (CHM). SRs/MAs of external application of CHM for DFUs were collected by searching Cochrane Library, Web of science, CNKI, PubMed, VIP, Embase and Wanfang. Two independent reviewers carried out the literature selection and data extraction. Subsequently, AMSTAR-2 tool, PRISMA, and GRADE system were applied by two reviewers independently to evaluate the methodological quality, reporting quality, and evidence quality of the included studies, respectively. Eight SRs/MAs met the eligibility criteria and were included. According to AMSTAR-2, a very low methodological quality assessment was given to the included SRs/MAs due to the flaws of items 2, 4 and 7. The PRISMA system identified protocol and registration weaknesses, as well as search method weaknesses. With GRADE, no high-quality evidence was identified to support the role of external application of CHM for DFUs, and the quality of evidence for the vast majority of outcomes was rated as low or moderate. In conclusion, low- to moderate-quality evidence supports the promise of external application of CHM for the treatment of DFUs. Due to the limitations of the evidence supporting external application of CHM for DFUs, rigorously designed and larger samples of high-quality studies are needed going forward before broad recommendations can be made.

RESUMO

As a newly discovered mechanism of cell death, disulfidptosis is expected to help diagnose and treat bladder cancer patients. First, data obtained from public databases were analyzed using bioinformatics techniques. SVA packages were used to combine data from different databases to remove batch effects. Then, the differential analysis and COX regression analysis of ten disulfidptosis-related genes identified four prognostically relevant differentially expressed genes which were subjected to Lasso regression for further screening to obtain model-related genes and output model formulas. The predictive power of the prognostic model was verified and the immunohistochemistry of model-related genes was verified in the HPA database. Pathway enrichment analysis was performed to identify the mechanism of bladder cancer development and progression. The tumor microenvironment and immune cell infiltration of bladder cancer patients with different risk scores were analyzed to personalize treatment. Then, information from the IMvigor210 database was used to predict the responsiveness of different risk patients to immunotherapy. The oncoPredict package was used to predict the sensitivity of patients at different risk to chemotherapy drugs, and its results have some reference value for guiding clinical use. After confirming that our model could reliably predict the prognosis of bladder cancer patients, the risk scores were combined with clinical information to create a nomogram to accurately calculate the patient survival rate. A prognostic model containing three disulfidptosis-related genes (NDUFA11, RPN1, SLC3A2) was constructed. The functional enrichment analysis and immune-related analysis indicated patients in the high-risk group were candidates for immunotherapy. The results of drug susceptibility analysis can guide more accurate treatment for bladder cancer patients and the nomogram can accurately predict patient survival. NDUFA11, RPN1, and SLC3A2 are potential novel biomarkers for the diagnosis and treatment of bladder cancer. The comprehensive analysis of tumor immune profiles indicated that patients in the high-risk group are expected to benefit from immunotherapy.

RESUMO

Wendan decoction, a well-known classical traditional Chinese medicine prescription, has been widely used in the clinical application of coronary heart disease for thousands of years. However, due to a lack of research on the overall metabolism of Wendan decoction, the bioavailable components responsible for the therapeutic effects remain unclear, hindering the revelation of its mechanisms against coronary heart disease. Consequently, an efficient joint research pattern combined with characterization of the metabolic profile and network pharmacology analysis was proposed. As a result, a total of 172 Wendan decoction-related xenobiotics (57 prototypes and 115 metabolites) were detected based on the exploration of the typical metabolic pathways of representative pure compounds in vivo, describing their multi-component metabolic characteristics comprehensively. Subsequently, an integrated network of "herbs-bioavailable compounds-coronary heart disease targets-pathways-therapeutic effects" was constructed, and its seven compounds were finally screened out as the key components acting on five main targets of coronary heart disease. Overall, this work not only provided a crucial biological foundation for interpreting the effective components and action mechanisms of Wendan decoction on coronary heart disease but also showed a reference value for revealing the bioactive components of traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions.

RESUMO

A compact and robust Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) based on polymer core is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The fabrication is low-cost and has simple processes, including fusion splicing and polymer injection. Its characteristic is that the polymer fills the entire capillary core, which is easy to demodulate, and provides a good platform for the refractive index measurement of the polymer after curing. The experimental result shows a linear temperature sensitivity of 1226.64 pm/°C between 39°C and 54°C. Furthermore, we also used the Vernier effect to improve the temperature sensitivity as high as -15.617 nm/°C. The proposed FPI structure provides potential application in the research of sensors and polymer optical fibers.

RESUMO

The optical sensor based on lossy mode resonance can overcome the limitations of traditional surface plasmon resonance sensors and work under TE and TM polarized light. In this paper, an LMR sensor theoretical model with the configuration of prism/matching layer/lossy layer/sensing layer is proposed, which is based on the principle of attenuated total reflection. By using TiO2 film as the lossy layer and LiF film as the matching layer, the resonance signal under angle interrogation is effectively improved. One of the advantages of the proposed sensor is that the detection range and detection accuracy are dynamically adjustable, which provides additional degrees of freedom in the design and use of the device. The structural parameters (film thickness, layer refractive index) affecting the resonance signal have been investigated based on the electric field distribution at resonance and the coupled mode theory. The LMR signal under TE and TM polarization can be switched by changing the thickness ratio of the matching layer and the lossy layer. All possible combinations of film thicknesses are given as a reference for the design of the LMR prism sensor based on TiO2 film. Under proper thickness combination, the proposed sensor is capable of detecting the medium with refractive index ranging from 1.32 ∼ 1.47, with a sensitivity range of 34 ∼ 148 °/RIU under angle interrogation and a maximum value of 192 RIU-1 for FOM under TM polarization. We hope these investigations can prove the advantages of LMR prism sensors and provide guidance for the experimental implementation of LMR prism sensors in the future.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: A screening model for prediction of small-for-gestational-age (SGA) neonates (SGAp) was established by logistic regression using ultrasound data and maternal factors (MF). We aimed to evaluate the ability of SGAp as well as abdominal circumference (AC) and estimated fetal weight (EFW) measurements to predict SGA neonates at 33-39 weeks' gestation. METHODS: This retrospective study evaluated 5298 singleton pregnancies that had involved three ultrasound examinations at 21+0-27+6, 28+0-32+6, and 33+0-39+6 weeks. All ultrasound data were transformed to MoM values (multiple of the median). Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the correlation between SGA status and various variables (ultrasound data and MF) during pregnancy to build the SGAp model. EFW was calculated according to the Hadlock formula at 33-39 weeks of gestation. The predictive performance of SGAp, AC MoM value at 33+0-39+6 weeks (AC-M), EFW MoM value (EFW-M), EFW-M plus MF, AC value at 33+0-39+6 weeks (AC), AC growth velocity, EFW, and EFW plus MF was evaluated using ROC curves. The detection rate (DR) of SGA neonate with SGAp, AC-M, EFW-M, and EFW-M plus MF at false positive rate (FPR) of 5% and 10%, and the FPR at DR of 85%, 90%, and 95% were observed. RESULTS: The AUCs of SGAp, AC-M, EFW-M, EFW-M plus MF, AC, AC growth velocity, EFW, and EFW plus MF for SGA neonates screening were 0.933 (95%CI: 0.916-0.950), 0.906 (95%CI: 0.887-0.925), 0.920 (95%CI: 0.903-0.936), 0.925 (95%CI: 0.909-0.941), 0.818 (95%CI: 0.791-0.845), 0.786 (95%CI: 0.752-0.821), 0.810 (95%CI: 0.782-0.838), and 0.834 (95%CI: 0.807-0.860), respectively. The screening efficiency of SGAp, AC-M, EFW-M, and EFW-M plus MF are significantly higher than AC, AC growth velocity, EFW, and EFW plus MF. The DR of SGAp, AC-M, EFW-M, and EFW-M plus MF for SGA neonates were 80.4%, 69.6%, 73.8% and 74.3% at 10% FPR. The AUCs of SGAp, AC-M, EFW-M, and EFW-M plus MF 0.950 (95%CI: 0.932-0.967), 0.929 (95%CI: 0.909-0.948), 0.938 (95%CI: 0.921-0.956) and 0.941 (95%CI: 0.924-0.957), respectively for screening SGA neonates delivered within 2 weeks after the assessment. The DR for these births increased to 85.8%, 75.8%, 80.0%, and 82.5%, respectively. CONCLUSION: The rational use of ultrasound data can significantly improve the prediction of SGA statuses.

RESUMO

Wendan decoction, a classical traditional Chinese medicine formula consisting of six herbal medicines, has been widely used in clinical treatments for thousands of years due to the expectorant effects. However, the chemical basis of Wendan decoction remains unclear, which hinders the elucidation of the scientific connotation and mechanism of its effective components. In this study, an ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight tandem mass spectrometry method was first developed for characterization of its chemical profile, and a total of 142 chemical components including flavonoids, triterpenoids, alkaloids, coumarins, pungent phytochemicals, and other types were detected, among which 41 components were definitively identified with authentic standards. Furthermore, 14 major representative components were simultaneously quantified by high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detector, indicating that the content levels of flavonoids were the most abundant in Wendan decoction. In summary, this study established sensitive and practical methods to systematically characterize chemical profile for the first time and simultaneous quantify representative components of Wendan decoction. These findings above would provide a solid chemical basis for disclosure of potential effective components by further in vivo disposal study, and promote therapeutic mechanism researches of Wendan decoction.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy of Tai Chi (TC) in patients with myocardial infarction and provide up-to-date evidence for its application. DATA SOURCES: Three English databases (PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials) and 3 Chinese databases (China Knowledge Resource Integrated, Wanfang, Weipu) were screened for the time period between January 1, 1976 and May 31, 2019. STUDY SELECTION: Seven randomized and controlled experiments were included. DATA EXTRACTION: Two independent researchers under 2 independent advisors extracted and classified the data from all relevant studies based on the prespecified inclusion criteria and rules for data extraction. DATA SYNTHESIS: A total of 615 patients were included in this study. The TC group was comprised of 294 patients, and the control group included 261 patients. The results revealed that TC has significant effects on the outcomes of the 6-minute walk (standardized mean difference, 1.30; 95% confidence interval, 0.50-2.11) and left ventricular ejection fraction (standardized mean difference, 1; 95% confidence interval, 0.43-1.57) compared with no or low-density exercise. Also, TC positively affected the quality of life, pro-B type natriuretic peptide, and short form-36. However, TC did not significantly affect activities of daily living (P=.060), sense of coherence-13 (P=.057) and N-terminal-pro-brain natriuretic peptide (P=.081). A moderate to high heterogeneity was observed across all comparisons. CONCLUSIONS: Compared with no exercise or other types of low-intensity physical activities, TC improved the outcome of the 6-minute walk, left ventricular ejection fraction, quality of life, and short form-36 scores, but reduced the outcome of pro-B type natriuretic peptide in patients with myocardial infarction. Therefore, TC could be an effective exercise option for cardiac rehabilitation. More research should be done to identify the effects of TC on academic functioning and to determine ways of motivating patients to use preventive TC interventions.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: With the growth of economic benefits brought by Zanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim. and the increasing market demand, this species has been widely introduced and cultivated in China. It is important to scientifically select suitable areas for artificial planting and promotion, and to understand the status and potential of Z. bungeanum resources. RESULTS: The maximum entropy (MaxEnt) model and ArcGIS technologies were used to analyze the climatic suitability of Z. bungeanum based on known distribution data, combined with environmental data in China. Z. bungeanum was mainly distributed in subtropical and mid-eastern warm temperate regions. The total suitable area (high and medium suitability) accounted for 32% of China's total land area, with high suitability areas composing larger percentage, reaching 1.93 × 106 km2. The suitable range (and optimum value) of the key environmental variables affecting the distribution of Z. bungeanum were the maximum temperature in February of 2.8-17.7 °C (10.4 °C), the maximum temperature in March of 8.6-21.4 °C (16.3 °C), the maximum temperature in December of 2.5-17.1 °C (9.9 °C), the maximum temperature in November of 7.7-22.2 °C (14.5 °C) and the mean temperature in March of 3.2-16.2 °C (12.0 °C). CONCLUSIONS: The model developed by MaxEnt was applicable to explore the environmental suitability of Z. bungeanum.

RESUMO

The study aimed to investigate time-course transcriptomes in myocardial ischaemia reperfusion injury (IRI) via RNA-Seq. Transcriptomes of 10 samples derived from patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (ASTEMI) who were assigned to percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), were sequenced at the time of 0 (before PCI), 2, 12, 24 and 72 hours after PCI, respectively. Using the genefilter package in r, wgcna and stem, different expression lncRNA (DEL) and mRNA (DEM) were analysed. Out of 756 mRNAs and 206 lncRNAs shared by enrolled patients, 135 RNAs were screened to be significantly associated with the IRI. Furthermore, combined with lncRNA-mRNA, lncRNA-miRNA and miRNA-mRNA network, 51 RNAs and 131 relationship pairs were ascertained in the competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNA) network. Among these nodes, SH2D3C and GTF2H4 were significantly enriched in cellular response to stress and their interaction module were isolated from functional ceRNA network. Subsequently, their critical role was confirmed via down-regulation of SH2D3C and GTF2H4 expression in vitro model. These results identified that lncRNA-mRNA ceRNA network, associated significantly with IRI, functioned as critical regulative pivotal roles after PCI-AMI, and SH2D3C and GTF2H4 may be the most responsive transcriptional regulator in the early-phase of IRI.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) play an important role in clinical practice, and they require appropriate evaluation, especially in application. This study explores the application evaluation method of CPGs for Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCM). It uses the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and clinical cases to evaluate the consistency between CPGs of TCM and clinical practice. METHODS: To evaluate the consistency between CPGs of TCM and clinical cases, a 3-level AHP construction was built. Weightings were calculated by collecting questionnaires according to AHP theory. To test the evaluation system, a retrospective study was performed. The study evaluated the China Association of Chinese Medicine's Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Common Internal Diseases in Chinese Medicine Diseases of Modern Medicine (CPGs of DTCID) (ZYYXH/T50-135-2008). A total of 150 cases were involved. The evaluation system was used to assess the consistency between CPGs of DTCID and clinical cases of angina pectoris. RESULTS: The results showed that the overall consistency between CPGs of DTCID and the 150 cases was 42.32 ± 6.94%, ranging from 35.21 to 63.37%. The overall consistency was not affected by age, gender, type of angina pectoris, condition of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), or angina classification as determined by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society. The consistencies of each index were as follows: Diagnosis of TCM, 100%; Diagnosis of Western medicine, 100%; Syndrome classification, 38.25 ± 4.40%; Syndrome key point, 34.17 ± 8.15%; TCM Decoction, 31.08 ± 23.64%; TCM particular treatment, 7.92 ± 19.13%; and Recuperation and prevention, 0. The most frequent syndromes were qi-deficiency, phlegm and blood stasis (n = 124) (82.7%). The overall consistency of qi-deficiency, turbid phlegm and blood stasis was lower than the overall consistency of the group without that syndrome. The difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). 42 cases (28%) applied the TCM decoction recommended by CPGs of DTCID. Of these, Gualouxiebaibanxia decoction was applied in 34 cases. Wendan decoction, the most frequently used, was applied in 64 cases (42.7%). CONCLUSION: This study indicates that the AHP system can perform quantitative evaluation of consistency between TCM CPG and clinical practice. It also found the factors affecting the application of TCM CPGs and might indicate the need for revisions of CPGs.

RESUMO

Isosteviol has been demonstrated to play a protective role during ischemia reperfusion (I/R) myocardial infarction. However, the underlying electrophysiological mechanisms of isosteviol are still unknown. Our previous study showed that the rapid component of the delayed rectifier potassium channel (IKr) plays an important role in the prolongation of I/R-induced QT interval-related arrhythmia. This study aimed to investigate whether isosteviol could attenuate I/R-induced prolongation of the action potential duration (APD) along with inhibition of IKr, and we aimed to clarify the electrophysiological mechanism of isosteviol to determine its cardioprotective effects in guinea pigs. We observed that the APD90 were 298.5±41.6ms in control, 528.6±56.7ms during I/R, and reduced to 327.8±40.5ms after 10µmol/L of isosteviol treatment. The IKr currents were 1.44±0.06 pA·pF-1in the control group, 0.50±0.07pA·pF-1during I/R, and recovered to 1.20±0.12pA·pF-1after 10µmol/L of isoteviol treatment. Moreover, isosteviol reduced the over-production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) during I/R. Importantly, isosteviol does not affect the IKr and human ether-a-go-go-related gene currents of normal cardiomyocytes. It attenuated the I/R-induced inhibition of IKr due to reduced over-production of ROS. Furthermore, isosteviol is safe and has no cardiotoxicity, and it might be beneficial for coronary reperfusion therapy.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This study aims to assess the quality of various steps of manual small incision cataract surgery and predictors of quality, using video recordings. DESIGN: This paper applies a retrospective study. PARTICIPANTS: Fifty-two trainees participated in a hands-on small incision cataract surgery training programme at rural Chinese hospitals. METHODS: Trainees provided one video each recorded by a tripod-mounted digital recorder after completing a one-week theoretical course and hands-on training monitored by expert trainers. Videos were graded by two different experts, using a 4-point scale developed by the International Council of Ophthalmology for each of 12 surgical steps and six global factors. Grades ranged from 2 (worst) to 5 (best), with a score of 0 if the step was performed by trainers. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Mean score for the performance of each cataract surgical step rated by trainers. RESULTS: Videos and data were available for 49/52 trainees (94.2%, median age 38 years, 16.3% women and 77.5% completing > 50 training cases). The majority (53.1%, 26/49) had performed ≤ 50 cataract surgeries prior to training. Kappa was 0.57∼0.98 for the steps (mean 0.85). Poorest-rated steps were draping the surgical field (mean ± standard deviation = 3.27 ± 0.78), hydro-dissection (3.88 ± 1.22) and wound closure (3.92 ± 1.03), and top-rated steps were insertion of viscoelastic (4.96 ± 0.20) and anterior chamber entry (4.69 ± 0.74). In linear regression models, higher total score was associated with younger age (P = 0.015) and having performed >50 independent manual small incision cases (P = 0.039). CONCLUSIONS: More training should be given to preoperative draping, which is poorly performed and crucial in preventing infection. Surgical experience improves ratings.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the associations between epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene mutations and serum tumor markers in advanced lung adenocarcinomas. METHODS: We investigated the association between EGFR gene mutations and clinical features, including serum tumor marker levels, in 97 advanced lung adenocarcinomas patients who did not undergo the treatment of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors. EGFR gene mutation was detected by real-time PCR at exons 18, 19, 20, and 21. Serum tumor marker concentrations were analyzed by chemiluminescence assay kit at the same time. RESULTS: EGFR gene mutations were detected in 42 (43%) advanced lung adenocarcinoma patients. Gender (P=0.003), smoking status (P=0.001), and abnormal serum status of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA, P=0.028) were significantly associated with EGFR gene mutation incidence. Multivariate analysis showed the abnormal CEA level in serum was independently associated with the incidence of EGFR gene mutation (P=0.046) with an odds ratio of 2.613 (95% CI: 1.018-6.710). However, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis revealed CEA was not an ideal predictive marker for EGFR gene mutation status in advanced lung adenocarcinoma (the area under the ROC curve was 0.608, P=0.069). CONCLUSIONS: EGFR gene mutation status is significantly associated with serum CEA status in advanced lung adenocarcinmoas. However, serum CEA is not an ideal predictor for EGFR mutation.

RESUMO

Batocera horsfieldi (Hope) (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Batocera) is an important wood-boring pest in China, mainly affecting natural forests, economic forests, urban gardens, and green landscapes. In this study, based on the MaxEnt model and ArcGIS, we combined 216 distribution records of B. horsfieldi with 11 selected key environmental variables to predict its potential suitable distribution under current climate data (1970-2000) and 3 climate emission scenarios from the Sixth Phase of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6). The results showed that monthly mean diurnal temperature ranges (bio2), isothermality (bio3), temperature seasonality (bio4), minimum temperature of the coldest month (bio6), mean temperature of the wettest quarter (bio8), mean temperature of the driest quarter (bio9), annual precipitation (bio12), precipitation of the wettest month (bio13), precipitation of the driest month (bio14), precipitation seasonality (coefficient of variation) (bio15), and altitude were the key environmental variables influencing the potential distribution of B. horsfieldi. In the future scenarios of SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, and SSP5-8.5, the areas of high, moderate, and low suitable distribution areas have varied to different extents. However, under the SSP2-4.5 scenario (2050s), there is an observable increase in the areas of high, moderate, and low suitability. The total area of the suitable area reaches 160.88 × 104 km2 and is also shifting toward higher latitudes and altitudes. This study provides scientific reference for future pest control by predicting B. horsfieldi's potential distribution. A "graded response" detection and early warning system and prevention and control strategies can be formulated based on the potential suitable areas to address this pest challenge effectively.

RESUMO

The Tephritidae family causes damage to fruits in tropical and subtropical regions around the world, with Bactrocera minax Enderlein (Diptera: Tephritidae) widely distributed in China, causing severe economic damage to Chinese citrus. Currently, preventing the rapid spread of B. minax remains an effective strategy to control it as the climate continues to warm in the future. In this context, it is crucial to understand the potential geographic range of B. minax under climate change. We used meta-analysis to assess the survival of Tephritidae insects under temperature stress. We also used the maximum entropy (MaxEnt) model to predict the suitable regions and migration trajectories of B. minax in China under current and future climatic conditions. Through comprehensive analysis of the experimental data, we found that the survival rate of Tephritidae insects in the suitable temperature range showed an increasing trend with the increase in warming extent. Using the MaxEnt model, we observed that the highly suitable area, as well as the moderately suitable area of B. minax, were expanding in all 3 future climate scenarios, with the distribution moving toward the high latitude region and the coastal region of China. Our results also indicate that temperature and precipitation contribute more to the model in the current year. Combining multiexperiment data, our study demonstrates that the potential distribution of B. minax in China will expand under future climate warming scenarios, and these predictions will provide important information for monitoring B. minax and informing managers in developing control strategies.

RESUMO

Graphium sarpedon is a significant foliar pest of Laurel plants in China. In this study, the MaxEnt model was used to investigate the distribution of G. sarpedon and predict its potential distribution areas in China in the future (2050s and 2090s) based on three Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, and SSP5-8.5), and key environmental variables affecting its distribution were identified. The results showed that under the current climatic conditions, the suitable distribution areas of G. sarpedon were 92.17°-134.96° E and 18.04°-33.61° N, including Yangtze Plain (Middle and Lower), Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta, and Lingnan areas. Under the future climate conditions, the total suitable distribution area of G. sarpedon decreased, but the area of medium suitable area increased. The study identified 11 key environmental variables affecting the distribution of G. sarpedon, the most critical of which was Precipitation of Warmest Quarter (bio18) and precipitation in April, May, June, and September (prec4, prec5, prec6, and prec9). This study is beneficial for monitoring and preventing the possible changes of G. sarpedon and provides theoretical references for its prevention and control.
