BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Seed heteromorphism is a plant strategy that an individual plant produces two or more distinct types of diaspores, which have diverse morphology, dispersal ability, ecological functions and different effects on plant life history traits. The aim of this study was to test the effects of seasonal soil salinity and burial depth on the dynamics of dormancy/germination and persistence/depletion of buried trimorphic diaspores of a desert annual halophyte Atriplex centralasiatica. METHODS: We investigated the effects of salinity and seasonal fluctuations of temperature on germination, recovery of germination and mortality of types A, B, C diaspores of A. centralasiatica in the laboratory and buried diaspores in situ at four soil salinities and three depths. Diaspores were collected monthly from the seedbank from December 2016 to November 2018, and the number of viable diaspores remaining (not depleted) and their germinability were determined. RESULTS: Non-dormant type A diaspores were depleted in the low salinity "window" in the first year. Dormant diaspore types B and C germinated to high percentages at 0.3 and 0.1 mol L-1 soil salinity, respectively. High salinity and shallow burial delayed depletion of diaspore types B and C. High salinity delayed depletion time of the three diaspore types and delayed dormancy release of types B and C diaspores from autumn to spring. Soil salinity modified the response of diaspores in the seedbank by delaying seed dormancy release in autum and winter and by providing a low-salt concentration window for germination of non-dormant diaspores in spring and early summer. CONCLUSIONS: Buried trimorphic diaspores of annual desert halophyte A. centralasiatica exhibited diverse dormancy/germination behavior in respond to seasonal soil salinity fluctuation. Prolonging persistence of the seedbank and delaying depletion of diaspores under salt stress in situ primarily is due to inhibition of dormancy-break. The differences in dormancy/germination and seed persistence in the soil seedbank may be a bet-hadging strategy adapted to stressful temporal and spatial heterogeneity, and allows A. centralasiatica to persist in the unpredictable cold desert enevironment.

Non-SMC (Structural Maintenance of Chromosomes) condensin I complex subunit H (NCAPH) has been shown to facilitate progression and predict adverse prognostic outcome in many cancer types. However, the function of NCAPH in gliomas is still unclear. Series of experiments were taken to uncover the function of NCAPH in glioma. The expression of NCAPH and potential mechanism regulating progression of glioma was verified by bioinformatics analysis. Lentiviral transfection was used for establishment of loss-of-function and gain-of-function cell lines. CCK-8 assay and Colony-formation assay were used to evaluate proliferation. Transwell assay and Cell wound healing assay were used to assess migration and invasion. Cell cycle and apoptosis were measured by flow cytometry. Protein and RNA were quantified by WB and RT-PCR, respectively. The nude mice model of glioma was used to evaluate the effect of NCAPH in vivo. The expression of NCAPH increased significantly in glioma tissues and correlated with WHO grade, IDH wild-type and non-1p/19q codeletion. Glioma patients with high expression of NCAPH had an undesirable prognosis. Functionally, upregulated NCAPH promotes the malignant hallmarks of glioma cells in vivo and in vitro. NCAPH correlated with DNA damage repair ability of glioma cells and facilitated the proliferation, invasion, and migration of glioma cells by promoting the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. This study identifies the important pro-tumor role of NCAPH in glioma and suggests that NCAPH is a potential therapeutic target.

Glioma is an intracranial tumor characterized by high mortality and recurrence rates. In the present study, the association of TRPM8 channel-associated factor 2 (TCAF2) in glioma was investigated using bioinformatics, showing significant relationships with age, WHO grade, IDH, and 1p/19q status, as well as being an independent predictor of prognosis. Immunohistochemistry of a glioma sample microarray showed markedly increased TCAF2 expression in glioblastoma relative to lower-grade glioma, with elevated expression predominating in the tumor center. Raised TCAF2 levels promote glioma cell migratory/invasion properties through the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition-like (EMT-like) process, shown by Transwell and scratch assays and western blotting. It was further found that the effects of TCAF2 were mediated by the activation of STAT3. These results suggest that TCAF2 promotes glioma cell migration and invasion, rendering it a potential drug target in glioma therapy.

The FGFR3-TACC3 (F3-T3) fusion gene was discovered as an oncogenic molecule in glioblastoma and bladder cancers, and has subsequently been found in many cancer types. Notably, F3-T3 was found to be highly expressed in both untreated and matched recurrence glioblastoma under the concurrent radiotherapy and temozolomide (TMZ) treatment, suggesting that targeting F3-T3 is a valid strategy for treatment. Here, we show that the F3-T3 protein is a client of heat shock protein 90 (HSP90), forming a ternary complex with the cell division cycle 37 (CDC37). Deprivation of HSP90 or CDC37 disrupts the formation of the ternary complex, which destabilizes glycosylated F3-T3, and thereby suppresses F3-T3 oncogenic activity. Gliomas harboring F3-T3 are resistant to TMZ chemotherapy. HSP90 inhibitors sensitized F3-T3 glioma cells to TMZ via the inhibition of F3-T3 activation and potentiated TMZ-induced DNA damage. These results demonstrate that F3-T3 oncogenic function is dependent on the HSP90 chaperone system and suggests a new clinical option for targeting this genetic aberration in cancer.

Maintaining the integrity of crucial fiber tracts allows functional preservation and improved recovery in patients with glioma resection. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and intraoperative subcortical mapping (ISM) are commonly required for pre- and intraoperative assessment of white matter fibers. This study investigated differences of clinical outcomes in glioma resection aided by DTI or ISM. A comprehensive literature retrieval of the PubMed and Embase databases identified several DTI or ISM studies in 2000-2022. Clinical data, including extent of resection (EOR) and postoperative neurological deficits, was collected and statistically analyzed. Heterogeneity was regressed by a random effect model and the Mann-Whitney U test was used to test statistical significance. Publication bias was assessed by Egger test. A total of 14 studies with a pooled cohort of 1837 patients were included. Patients undergoing DTI-navigated glioma surgery showed a higher rate of gross total resection (GTR) than ISM-assisted surgical resection (67.88%, [95% CI 0.55-0.79] vs. 45.73%, [95% CI 0.29-0.63], P = 0.032). The occurrence of early postoperative functional deficit (35.45%, [95% CI 0.13-0.61] vs. 35.60% [95% CI 0.20-0.53], P = 1.000), late postoperative functional deficit (6.00%, [95% CI 0.02-0.11] vs. 4.91% [95% CI 0.03-0.08], P = 1.000) and severe postoperative functional deficit (2.21%, [95% CI 0-0.08] vs. 5.93% [95% CI 0.01-0.16], P = 0.393) were similar between the DTI and ISM group, respectively. While DTI-navigation resulted in a higher rate of GTR, the occurrence of postoperative neurological deficits between DTI and ISM groups was comparable. Together, these data indicate that both techniques could safely facilitate glioma resection.

CONTEXT: Salvianolic acid B (SAB) can alleviate renal fibrosis and improve the renal function. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of SAB on renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis and explore its underlying mechanisms. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Male C57 mice were subjected to unilateral ureteric obstruction (UUO) and aristolochic acid nephropathy (AAN) for renal fibrosis indication. Vehicle or SAB (10 mg/kg/d, i.p.) were given consecutively for 2 weeks in UUO mice while 4 weeks in AAN mice. The serum creatinine (Scr) and blood urine nitrogen (BUN) were measured. Masson's trichrome staining and the fibrotic markers (FN and α-SMA) were used to evaluate renal fibrosis. NRK-49F cells exposed to 2.5 ng/mL TGF-ß were treated with SAB in the presence or absence of 20 µM 3-DZNep, an inhibitor of EZH2. The protein expression of EZH2, H3k27me3 and PTEN/Akt signaling pathway in renal tissue and NRK-49F cells were measured by Western blots. RESULTS: SAB significantly improved the levels of Scr by 24.3% and BUN by 35.7% in AAN mice. SAB reduced renal interstitial collagen deposition by 34.7% in UUO mice and 72.8% in AAN mice. Both in vivo and in vitro studies demonstrated that SAB suppressed the expression of FN and α-SMA, increased PTEN and decreased the phosphorylation of Akt, which were correlated with the down-regulation of EZH2 and H3k27me3. The inhibition of EZH2 attenuated the anti-fibrotic effects of SAB in NRK-49Fs. CONCLUSION: SAB might have therapeutic potential on renal fibrosis of CKD through inhibiting EZH2, which encourages further clinical trials.

Although plant-plant interactions (i.e. competition and facilitation) have long been recognised as key drivers of plant community composition and dynamics, their global patterns and relationships with climate have remained unclear. Here, we assembled a global database of 10,502 pairs of empirical data from the literature to address the patterns of and climatic effects on the net outcome of plant interactions in natural communities. We found that plant interactions varied among plant performance indicators, interaction types and biomes, yet competition occurred more frequently than facilitation in plant communities worldwide. Unexpectedly, plant interactions showed weak latitudinal pattern and were weakly related to climate. Our study provides a global comprehensive overview of plant interactions, highlighting competition as a fundamental mechanism structuring plant communities worldwide. We suggest that further investigations should focus more on local factors (e.g. microclimate, soil and disturbance) than on macroclimate to identify key environmental determinants of interactions in plant communities.

Quantum process tomography is a pivotal technique in fully characterizing quantum dynamics. However, exponential scaling of the Hilbert space with the increasing system size extremely restrains its experimental implementations. Here, we put forward a more efficient, flexible, and error-mitigated method: variational entanglement-assisted quantum process tomography with arbitrary ancillary qubits. Numerically, we simulate up to eight-qubit quantum processes and show that this tomography with m ancillary qubits (0≤m≤n) alleviates the exponential costs on state preparation (from 4^{n} to 2^{n-m}), measurement settings (at least a 1 order of magnitude reduction), and data postprocessing (efficient and robust parameter optimization). Experimentally, we first demonstrate our method on a silicon photonic chip by rebuilding randomly generated one-qubit and two-qubit unitary quantum processes. Further using the error mitigation method, two-qubit quantum processes can be rebuilt with average gate fidelity enhanced from 92.38% to 95.56%. Our Letter provides an efficient and practical approach to process tomography on the noisy quantum computing platforms.

OBJECTIVES: To summarize the skeletal muscle magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of the lower limbs in common subtypes of muscular dystrophy (MD) and the experience in the application of MRI in the diagnosis of MD. METHODS: A total of 48 children with MD who were diagnosed by genetic testing were enrolled as subjects. The muscle MRI features of the lower limbs were analyzed. Cumulative fatty infiltration score was calculated for each subtype, and the correlation of cumulative fatty infiltration score with clinical indices was analyzed for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). RESULTS: DMD was characterized by the involvement of the gluteus maximus and the adductor magnus. Becker muscular dystrophy was characterized by the involvement of the vastus lateralis muscle. Limb-girdle muscular dystrophy was characterized by the involvement of the adductor magnus, the vastus intermedius, the vastus medialis, and the vastus lateralis muscle. For DMD, the cumulative fatty infiltration score of the lower limb muscles was significantly correlated with age, course of the disease, muscle strength, and motor function (P<0.05), while it was not significantly correlated with the serum creatine kinase level (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Different subtypes of MD have different MRI manifestations, and MRI may help with the diagnosis and assessment of MD.

Seed mucilage plays important roles in the adaptation of desert plants to the stressful environment. Artemisia sphaerocephala is an important pioneer plant in the Central Asian cold desert, and it produces a large quantity of seed mucilage. Seed mucilage of A. sphaerocephala can be degraded by soil microbes, but it is unknown which microorganisms can degrade mucilage or how the mucilage-degrading microorganisms affect rhizosphere microbial communities or root nutrients. Here, mucilage-degrading microorganisms were isolated from the rhizosphere of A. sphaerocephala, were screened by incubation with mucilage stained with Congo red, and were identified by sequencing and phylogenetic analyses. Fungal-bacterial networks based on high-throughput sequencing of rhizosphere microbes were constructed to explore the seasonal dynamic of interactions between a mucilage-degrading microorganism and its closely related microorganisms. The structural equation model was used to analyze effects of the mucilage-degrading microorganism, rhizosphere fungal-bacterial communities, and soil physicochemical properties on root C and N. The fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium was identified as a mucilage-degrading microorganism. Relative abundance of the mucilage-degrading fungus (MDF) was highest in May. Subnetworks showed that the abundance of fungi and bacteria closely related to the MDF also were highest in May. Interactions between the MDF and related fungi and bacteria were positive, which might enhance mucilage degradation. In addition, the MDF might regulate root C and N by affecting rhizosphere microbial community structure. Our results suggest that MDF from the rhizosphere strengthens the plant-soil-microbe continuum, thereby potentially regulating microbial interactions and root nutrients of A. sphaerocephala.[Formula: see text] Copyright © 2021 The Author(s). Emodin, a major component of Chinese herbal rhubarb, delays the progression of chronic renal failure. However, the effect and working mechanisms of Emodin on renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis remains elusive. We hypothesized that emodin inhibits renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis through EZH2, a histone methyltransferase. Our in vivo and in vitro studies demonstrate that emodin reduced extracellular collagen deposition and inhibited Smad3 and CTGF pro-fibrotic signaling pathways, which were correlated with the down-regulation of EZH2 and reduced trimethylation of histone H3 on lysine 27 (H3k27me3) in NRK-49F fibrotic cells and UUO kidneys. Inhibition of EZH2 by 3-DZNeP blocked or attenuated the anti-fibrotic effect of emodin in UUO kidneys and NRK-49F cells. These data indicate that emodin inhibits renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis in obstructed kidneys and this effect is mediated through EZH2.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to detect the effect of angiotensin receptor 1 (AT1) knock out (KO) on spermatogenesis and hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis hormone expression. METHODS: Normal C57BL/6 male mice were used as control group or treated with angiotensin receptor blocker, in addition heterozygous ± AT1KO mice were generated. After caged at a ratio of 2 to 1 with females, pregnancy rates of female mice were determined by detection of vaginal plugs. Deformity rate of spermatozoa was evaluated by eosin staining and morphology evaluation. The AT1 mRNA expression in the testes of male ± AT1KO mice was detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (QRT-PCR). Serum GnRH level was determined by ELISA. RESULTS: Compared to control, ± AT1KO mice showed reduced expression of AT1 in testes, pituitary and hypothalamus. In addition, decreased level of GnRH, but not follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) or luteinizing hormone (LH), in ± AT1KO mice was detected. Treatment with angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) did not have significant effects on HPG hormones. ± AT1KO mice exhibited male infertility and significant abnormality of sperm morphology. CONCLUSION: Reduced AT1 knockout resulted in male infertility, potentially by inducing abnormal spermatogenesis. Both testis and HPG axis signaling may be involved.

Compared with noninvasive tumor cells, glioma cells overexpress chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4), which exhibits significantly greater expression in invasive tumor cells than in noninvasive tumor cells. C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 12 (CXCL12, also known as stromal derived factor-1, SDF-1) and its cell surface receptor CXCR4 activate a signaling axis that induces the expression of membrane type-2 matrix metalloproteinase (MT2-MMP), which plays a pivotal role in the invasion and migration of various cancer cells; however, the specific mechanism involved in this is unclear. Recently, studies have shown that invadopodia can recruit and secrete related enzymes, such as matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), to degrade the surrounding extracellular matrix (ECM), promoting the invasion and migration of tumor cells. Phosphorylated cortactin (pY421-cortactin) is required for the formation and maturation of invadopodia, but the upstream regulatory factors and kinases involved in phosphorylation have not been elucidated. In this study, we found that CXCL12/CXCR4 was capable of inducing glioma cell invadopodia formation, probably by regulating cortactin phosphorylation. The interaction of cortactin and Arg (also known as Abl-related nonreceptor tyrosine kinase, ABL2) in glioma cells was demonstrated. The silencing of Arg inhibited glioma cell invadopodia formation and invasion by blocking cortactin phosphorylation. Moreover, CXCL12 could not induce glioma cell invasion in Arg-knockdown glioma cells. Based on these results, it can be concluded that Arg mediates CXCL12/CXCR4-induced glioma cell invasion, and CXCL12/CXCR4 regulates invadopodia maturation through the Arg-cortactin pathway, which indicates that Arg could be a candidate therapeutic target to inhibit glioma cell invasion.

BACKGROUND This study compared the effects of a bean-based and a white rice-based breakfast diet on postprandial glucose and insulin levels in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). MATERIAL AND METHODS We recruited 63 patients with T2DM. The patients participated in the randomized 2×2 crossover trial. The bean-based diet group and white rice control group were matched for 50 g of available carbohydrate at breakfast. The patients followed the diets for 3 days. Vein blood samples were collected at 0, 30, 60, 120, and 180 min after eating. Data were analyzed using a repeated-measures analysis of variance. The results are expressed as the mean±standard error of mean (SEM) or as the median with interquartile range values. RESULTS Compared with the white rice control, postprandial glucose was significantly lower with the bean-based diet treatments at 60 min (P=0.004), 120 min (P=0.000), and 180 min (P=0.000). The insulin levels of the bean-based diet group were significantly higher at 60 min (P=0.013). The C-peptide levels of the bean-based diet group were significantly higher at 30 min (P=0.042) and 60 min (P=0.005) postprandial. The glucose area under the curve (AUC) showed a similar trend (P=0.000). There were no statistically significant differences in the AUC of insulin and C-peptide, except C-peptide AUC at 0 to 60 min (P=0.027). CONCLUSIONS Compared with a white rice-based breakfast, a bean-based diet significantly reduced postprandial glucose levels and promoted insulin secretion. These results support a dietary approach to reduce postprandial hyperglycemia.

PURPOSE: Although laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication (LNF) is a kind of minimally invasive surgery, some transition time may still be required to allow the fundoplicated stomach to adapt to the new anatomical position. We observed transient delayed gastric emptying (DGE) post-LNF in our preliminary study. This study aimed to investigate the occurrence rate and development of transient DGE post-LNF. METHODS: Patients who underwent LNF for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) at our institution were recruited consecutively. They were treated with standardized LNF and prospectively followed up for 2 months. Proper diet guidance and/or pharmacologic therapy were given during these 2 months. GERD Health-Related Quality of Life (GERD-HRQL), DGE symptoms, and DGE status were evaluated preoperatively and postoperatively. RESULTS: Fifty-one patients underwent LNF and completed a 2-month follow-up. LNF succeeded in all patients. Prior to LNF, no DGE was identified. At the 1-month follow-up, LNF led to a significant reduction in the GERD-HRQL total score but a significantly increased DGE score. Endoscopically, DGE was identified in forty-seven (n = 47, 92.2%) patients. At the 2-month follow-up, the GERD-HRQL scores continued to show decreases compared to the 1 month. The DGE score returned to the baseline value. Endoscopically, no DGE was identified in any patients (n = 0, 0.0%). CONCLUSIONS: Transient DGE is a very common one-month post-LNF but can recover quickly in the second month following LNF.

According to the relevant theories on duality relation, the summation of the extractable information of a quanton's wave and particle properties, which are characterized by interference visibility V and path distinguishability D, respectively, is limited. However, this relation is violated upon quantum superposition between the wave-state and particle-state of the quanton, which is caused by the quantum beamsplitter (QBS). Along another line, recent studies have considered quantum coherence C in the l1-norm measure as a candidate for the wave property. In this study, we propose an interferometer with a quantum which-path detector (QWPD) and examine the generalized duality relation based on C. We find that this relationship still holds under such a circumstance, but the interference between these two properties causes the full-particle property to be observed when the QWPD system is partially present. Using a pair of polarization-entangled photons, we experimentally verify our analysis in the two-path case. This study extends the duality relation between coherence and path information to the quantum case and reveals the effect of quantum superposition on the duality relation.

In recent years, research on glioma immunotherapy have grown rapidly. However, the autoimmune-like side effects that are caused by blocking immunological checkpoints hinder their clinical application in gliomas currently. Galectin-9, a ligand for T-cell immunoglobulin mucin 3, has shed a new light on the treatment of malignant glioma. However, the potential mechanism of Galectin-9 is still under discussion. In this study, first, we methodically gathered 1,027 glioma patients with RNA-seq and 986 patients with survival data to explore the role and mechanism of Galectin-9 in gliomas. Second, we analyzed glioma samples from 50 patients in the Department of Neurosurgery, Tianjin Medical University General Hospital. Finally, we found that Galectin-9 was strongly upregulated in glioblastoma multiforme compared with normal brain tissues and lower-grade glioma. Patients with Galectin-9 overexpression had a significantly shorter overall survival. Moreover, the tissue microarray data displayed that the expression of Galectin-9 in the core of tumor is higher than that in the border and was correlated with the shorter survival in glioma patients. Galectin-9 is more highly expressed in the mesenchymal subtype of glioblastoma multiforme than in the other subtypes. Simultaneously, Galectin-9 was closely associated with the immune response and lymphocyte activation, especially T-cell activation. To further determine the underlying role of Galectin-9 in the immune response, we selected seven immune metagenes. Through cluster analysis and correlation analysis, we discovered that Galectin-9 was highly correlated with immune checkpoint molecules and M2 tumor-associated macrophages. In summary, Galectin-9 serves as a potential therapeutic target to treat glioblastoma multiforme.

MAIN CONCLUSION: Individuals of the annual halophyte Atriplex centralasiatica produce three kinds of diaspores that differ in dispersal, dormancy/germination response and type of seed bank formed, which likely is a bet-hedging strategy in the rainfall-unpredictable environment on the semi-arid, saline Ordos Plateau in Inner Mongolia, China. Seasonal fluctuations in environmental conditions provide germination cues for the establishment of seedlings at the right time and place to ensure plant survival and population regeneration. Diaspore heteromorphism is a phenomenon in which diaspores with stark qualitative differences in morphology and ecology are produced by the same maternal plant. Germination responses and dispersal times of the annual halophyte Atriplex centralasiatica were examined to determine the role of diaspore heteromorphism in its adaptation to salt desert conditions. A. centralasiatica is a tumbleweed that produces three types of diaspores that differ in morphology and ecophysiology. The relative potential dispersal ability and intensity of dormancy of the three diaspore types was type A (fan-shaped diaspores with yellow fruits) < type B (fan-shaped diaspores with black fruits) < type C (globular diaspores with black fruits). In the field, type A retained high germinability, but all of them were depleted from the (transient) soil seedbank in the first growing season. Types B and C cycled between dormancy and nondormancy, and 0 and > 90.0% remained in the soil seedbank 2 years after dispersal, respectively. The dormancy, dispersal and salt tolerance of type B diaspores were intermediate between those of A and C. Type A exhibited low dispersal-nondormancy, type B exhibited intermediate dispersal-intermediate dormancy and type C exhibited high dispersal ability-high dormancy. In the unpredictable salt desert habitat, the functional differences in germination and dispersal of the three diaspores act as a bet-hedging mechanism and ensure population establishment in different years by spreading germination over time and space.

RESUMO

Quantum entanglement enables measurement on one party to affect the other's state. Based on this peculiar feature, we propose a model of remote-controlled quantum computing and design an optical scheme to realize this model for a single qubit. As an experimental demonstration of this scheme, we further implement three Pauli operators, Hardmard gate, phase gate, and π/8 gate. The minimal fidelity obtained by quantum process tomography reaches 82%. Besides, as a potential application, our model contributes to secure remote quantum information processing.

BACKGROUND: Glioma is a deadly and immunosuppressive brain tumour. Complement C1r subcomponent like (C1RL), a prognostic biomarker in several kinds of tumours, has attracted increasing attention from oncologists. However, the role of C1RL in glioma remains unclear. METHODS: Through analysis of 2120 glioma patients from 5 public datasets, the relationships between C1RL expression and clinicopathological characteristics were evaluated. Furthermore, the C1RL-associated genes were screened, and Gene Ontology (GO) analysis was conducted to investigate biological process enrichment. In addition, tumour purity, leukocyte infiltration and overall survival were evaluated based on C1RL expression. RESULTS: We found that C1RL expression was upregulated in glioblastoma (GBM), especially mesenchymal GBM and primary GBM. Increased C1RL expression accompanied the IDH1-wt phenotype in both lower grade glioma (LGG) and GBM. C1RL- associated genes were mainly enriched in biological processes related to the immune response. C1RL expression was also correlated with reduced tumour purity and increased M2 macrophage infiltration. Higher C1RL expression predicted unfavourable survival in patients with glioma and therapeutic resistance in GBM. CONCLUSIONS: Our results imply that C1RL is involved in immunological activities and is an independent unfavourable prognostic biomarker in patients with glioma. C1RL is a potential clinical immunotherapeutic target for glioma treatment in the future.
