RESUMO

Metal (M) oxides are one of the most interesting and widely used solids, and many of their properties can be directly correlated to the local structural ordering within basic building units (BBUs). One particular example is the high-Ni transition metal layered oxides, potential cathode materials for Li-ion batteries whose electrochemical activity is largely determined by the cationic ordering in octahedra (e.g., the BBUs in such systems). Yet to be firmly established is how the BBUs are inherited from precursors and subsequently evolve into the desired ordering during synthesis. Herein, a multimodal in situ X-ray characterization approach is employed to investigate the synthesis process in preparing LiNi0.77Mn0.13Co0.10O2 from its hydroxide counterpart, at scales varying from the long-range to local individual octahedral units. Real-time observation corroborated by first-principles calculations reveals a topotactic transformation throughout the entire process, during which the layered framework is retained; however, due to preferential oxidation of Co and Mn over Ni, significant changes happen locally within NiO6 octahedra. Specifically, oxygen loss and the associated symmetry breaking occur in NiO6; as a consequence, Ni2+ ions become highly mobile and tend to mix with Li, causing high cationic disordering upon formation of the layered oxides. Only through high-temperature heat treatment, Ni is further oxidized, thereby inducing symmetry reconstruction and, concomitantly, cationic ordering within NiO6 octahedra. Findings from this study shed light on designing high-Ni layered oxide cathodes and, more broadly, various functional materials through synthetic control of the constituent BBUs.

RESUMO

To develop new mid-infrared (MIR) nonlinear optical (NLO) materials, which can overcome the low laser damage threshold (LDT) of the commercial MIR-NLO crystals (AgGaS2 , AgGaSe2 and ZnGeP2 ) and simultaneously keep the large NLO susceptibility, is necessary for high-power MIR laser frequency conversion technology. To improve the LDT, a new strategy of increasing lattice stability was adopted. Here, the strongly covalent structural unit of the PS4 tetrahedron was introduced into AgGaS2 (AGS), and that led to the isolation of the first compound in AgI -GaIII -PV -S system, namely, AgGa2 PS6 (Cc). It retains a large SHG efficiency (1.0×AGS) with phase-matchable ability, and also exhibits an improved LDT (5.1×AGS), indicating AgGa2 PS6 is a new promising MIR-NLO crystal. Moreover, a novel 3D framework of [Ga2 PS6 ]- , with triangular-shaped channels, as well as interesting single triangular geometry of AgS3 -both of which are very rare in reported sulfides-was discovered in AgGa2 PS6 . Furthermore, theoretical calculations, and lattice energy and thermal expansions analyses suggest that the PS4 group makes a large contribution to the large SHG efficiency and high LDT.

RESUMO

Quaternary metal thiophosphates containing second-order Jahn-Teller distorted d10 Ag+ and lone-pair cations, Ag3Bi(PS4)2 (1), Ag7Sn(PS4)3 (2), and Ag7Pb(PS4)3 (3), were obtained by solid-state synthesis. The structural frameworks of 2 and 3 feature an infinite 1-D interchiral double helix ∞1(Ag3P2S11), which is rare in inorganic compounds. Compound 3 undergoes a significant first-order structural phase transition from monoclinic to hexagonal at ∼204 °C. This can be ascribed to the significant mismatch in the expansion coefficients between Pb-S (Ag-S) and P-S bonds evaluated by bond valence theory. The three compounds are Ag+ ionic conductors, and Ag+ ion migration pathways are proposed by calculating maps of low bond valence mismatch. Moreover, the optical properties of the three compounds were studied, and electronic structure calculations were performed. The combination of second-order Jahn-Teller distorted d10 cation and lone-pair cation provides a new strategy to explore new metal thiophosphates with interesting structures and promising properties.

RESUMO

Thin film solar cells, due to the low cost, high efficiency, long-term stability, and consumer applications, have been widely applied for harvesting green energy. All of these thin film solar cells generally adopt various metal thin films as the back electrode, like Mo, Au, Ni, Ag, Al, graphite, and so forth. When they contact with p-type layer, it always produces a Schottky contact with a high contact potential barrier, which greatly affects the cell performance. In this work, we report for the first time to find an appropriate p-type conductive semiconductor film, digenite Cu9S5 nanocrystalline film, as the back electrode for CdTe solar cells as the model device. Its low sheet resistance (16.6 Ω/sq) could compare to that of the commercial TCO films (6-30 Ω/sq), like FTO, ITO, and AZO. Different from the traditonal metal back electrode, it produces a successive gradient-doping region by the controllable Cu diffusion, which greatly reduces the contact potential barrier. Remarkably, it achieved a comparable power conversion efficiency (PCE, 11.3%) with the traditional metal back electrode (Cu/Au thin films, 11.4%) in CdTe cells and a higher PCE (13.8%) with the help of the Au assistant film. We believe it could also act as the back electrode for other thin film solar cells (α-Si, CuInS2, CIGSe, CZTS, etc.), for their performance improvement.

RESUMO

The first two new Na-containing sulfides Na2In2MS6 (M = Si (1), Ge (2)) in the Na2Q-B2Q3-CQ2 (B = Ga, In; C = Si, Ge, Sn; Q = S, Se) system were prepared for the first time through conventional high-temperature solid-state reaction. They are isostructural with space group Cc (No. 9) in monoclinic phases and feature three-dimensional frameworks built by the (∞)¹[In2MS6]²â» (M = Si, Ge) chains through corner-sharing InS4 tetrahedra and MS4 (M = Si, Ge) tetrahedra, with Na⁺ cation located in the cavities. They display moderate second harmonic generation (SHG) conversion efficiencies compared with commercial AgGaS2, with phase-matching behavior at 1800 nm and laser-induced damage thresholds 6.9 and 4.0 times higher than that of AgGaS2, respectively. Therefore, the output SHG intensities of 1 and 2 will be ∼4.3 and 4.0 times larger than that of AgGaS2, when the intensity of incident laser increased to close the damage energy of 1 and 2, indicating their potential for high-power nonlinear optical application.

RESUMO

The exact mechanisms underlying inhibitory effects of pioglitazone (Pio) on Angiotensin II (AngII)-induced atrial fibrosis are complex and remain largely unknown. In the present study, we examined the effect of Pio on AngII-induced mice atrial fibrosis in vivo and atrial fibroblasts proliferation in vitro. In vivo study showed that AngII infusion induced atrial fibrosis and increased expressions of Toll/IL-1 receptor domain-containing adaptor inducing IFN-ß (TRIF) and tumor necrosis factor receptor associated factor 6 (TRAF6) in mice models. However, those effects could be attenuated by Pio (P<0.01). As for in vitro experiment, Pio suppressed AngII-induced atrial fibroblasts proliferation via nuclear factor-κB/transforming growth factor-ß1/TRIF/TRAF6 signaling pathway in primary cultured mice atrial fibroblasts (P<0.01). In conclusion, suppression of Pio on AngII-induced atrial fibrosis might be related to its inhibitory effects on above signaling pathway.

RESUMO

AIMS: Atrial fibroblasts and macrophages have long been thought to participate in atrial fibrillation (AF). However, which specific mediator may regulate the interaction between them remains unclear. METHODS AND RESULTS: We provided the evidence for the involvement of Toll/IL-1 receptor domain-containing adaptor inducing IFN-ß (TRIF), an important inflammation-related molecule, in the pathophysiology of AF. Patients with AF showed higher levels of angiotensin II (AngII) and TRIF expression and larger number of macrophages infiltration in left atria appendage than individuals with sinus rhythm (SR). In the cell study, AngII induced chemokines expressions in mouse atrial fibroblasts and AngII-stimulated atrial fibroblasts induced the chemotaxis of macrophages, which were reduced by losartan and TRIF siRNA. Meanwhile, AngII-stimulated atrial fibroblasts proliferation was enhanced by macrophages. CONCLUSIONS: Our data demonstrated that TRIF may be a crucial factor promoting the interaction between atrial fibroblasts and macrophages, leading to atrial fibrosis.

RESUMO

Two new metal sulfides, Ba(2)Ga(8)MS(16) (M = Si, Ge), have been synthesized by high-temperature solid-state reactions. They are isostructural and crystallize in the noncentrosymmetric space group P6(3)mc (No. 186) with a = 10.866(5) Å, c = 11.919(8) Å, and z = 2 for Ba(2)Ga(8)SiS(16) (1) and a = 10.886(8) Å, c = 11.915(3) Å, and z = 2 for Ba(2)Ga(8)GeS(16) (2). Their three-dimensional frameworks are constructed by corner-sharing mixed (Ga/M)S(4) (M = Si, Ge) and pure GaS(4) tetrahedra, with Ba(2+) cations filling in the tunnels. Compounds 1 and 2 are transparent over 0.42-20 µm and have wide band gaps of around 3.4 and 3.0 eV, respectively. Polycrystalline 2 displays strong nonlinear second-harmonic-generation (SHG) intensities that are comparable to that of the benchmark AgGaS(2) (AGS) with phase-matching behavior at a laser irradiation of 1950 nm. Of particular interest, compound 2 also possesses a high powder laser-induced damage threshold of ∼22 times that of AGS. The alternate stacking of the mixed (Ga/M)S(4) (M = Si, Ge) tetrahedral layer with the pure GaS(4) tetrahedral layer along the c axis and the alignment of these two types of tetrahedra in the same direction may be responsible for the large SHG signals observed.

RESUMO

A 3D metal-organic framework (MOF), [Zn(BPHY)(SA)]n (1; BPHY = 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)hydrazine, H2SA = succinic acid), which crystallizes in a noncentrosysmmetric space group (Cc), has been solvothermally obtained and testified to be a good nonlinear-optical material with the largest second-harmonic-generation response among the known MOFs based on sysmmetric ligands and high stability. Ultraviolet-to-visible tunable emission for 1 is observed.

RESUMO

The model compound [Zn(HCOO)2(4,4'-bipy)] (1; 4,4'-bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine) is selected in this work to demonstrate the effectiveness of our previously proposed design strategy for electron-transfer photochromic metal-organic complexes. The electron-transfer photochromic behavior of 1 has been discovered for the first time. Experimental and theoretical data illustrate that the photochromism of 1 can be attributed to the electron transfer from formato to 4,4'-bipy and the formation of a radical photoproduct. The electron transfer prefers to occur between formato and 4,4'-bipy, which are combined directly by the Zn(II) atoms. A high-contrast (up to 8.3 times) photoluminescence switch occurs during the photochromic process. The similarity of photochromic behaviors among 1 and its analogues as well as viologen compounds has also been found. Photochromic studies of this model compound indicate that new electron-transfer photochromic metal-organic complexes can be largely designed and synthesized by the rational assembly of nonphotochromic electron-donating and electron-accepting ligands.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on Rho/Rho-associated coiled-coil-forming kinases (ROCK) signaling pathway of uterus tissue in rats with dysmenorrhea, so as to explore the underlying mechanism of EA treating primary dysmenorrhea (PD) and uterine smooth muscle spasm, and to observe whether there is a difference in the effect of meridian acupoints in Conception Vessel (CV) and Governer Vessel (GV). METHODS: Sixty female SD rats were randomly divided into saline, model, CV, GV, and non-acupoint groups, with 12 rats in each group. The dysmenorrhea model was established by subcutaneous injection of estradiol diphenhydrate combined with intraperitoneal injection of oxytocin (OT). EA (2 Hz) was applied to "Qihai" (CV6) and "Zhongji" (CV3) for CV group, "Mingmen" (GV4) and "Yaoshu" (GV2) for GV group, "non-acupoint 1" and "non-acupoint 3" on the left side for non-acupoint group, and manual acupuncture was applied to "Guanyuan" (CV4) for CV group, "Yaoyangguan" (GV3) for GV group, "non-acupoint 2" on the left side for non-acupoint group. The treatment was conducted for 20 min each time, once daily for 10 days. The writhing score was evaluated. The smooth myoelectric signals of rats' uterus in vivo were recorded by multi-channel physiological recorder. The uterine histopathological changes were observed by HE staining. The contents of prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α), OT and calcium ion (Ca2+) in uterine tissue of rats were detected by ELISA. The protein and mRNA expression levels of smooth muscle 22-α (SM22-α), RhoA and ROCKⅡ in uterine tissue were detected by Western blot and fluorescence quantitative PCR, respectively. RESULTS: Compared with the saline group, the writhing score of rats in the model group was increased (P<0.01), the amplitude voltage of uterine smooth muscle in vivo was elevated (P<0.01), the contents of PGF2α, OT and Ca2+, the protein and mRNA expression of SM22-α, RhoA and ROCK Ⅱ in uterine tissue were all increased (P<0.01). Compared with the model and the non-acupoint groups, the writhing scores of the CV and the GV groups were decreased (P<0.01, P<0.05), the amplitude voltage of uterine smooth muscle was decreased (P<0.01), the contents of PGF2α, OT and Ca2+ in uterine tissue were decreased (P<0.01, P<0.05), and the protein expression and mRNA expression of SM22-α, RhoA and ROCKⅡ in uterine tissue were decreased (P<0.01, P<0.05). HE staining showed extensive exfoliation of uterine intima with severe edema and increased glandular secretion in the model group, which was alleviated in the CV and GV groups. CONCLUSIONS: EA at acupoints of CV and GV can significantly reduce the writhing score, uterine smooth muscle amplitude voltage, pathological injury degree of uterus, and relieve spasm of uterine smooth muscle in dysmenorrhea rats, which may be related to its effect in regulating PGF2α and OT contents, inhibiting the Rho/ROCK signaling pathway, and reducing the SM22-α, RhoA, ROCKⅡ protein and mRNA expression, and Ca2+ content in uterine tissue.

RESUMO

Two new different-bond-type hybrid compounds, (Hg6P4Cl3)(PbCl3) (1) and (Hg23P12)(ZnCl4)6 (2), with supramolecular interactions between host and guest moieties, which based on metal-pnicogen, pnicogen-pnicogen, and metal-halogen bonds were obtained by solid-state reactions. Compounds 1 and 2 show large second-harmonic-generation (SHG) activity and are transparent in the wide mid-IR region, providing an effective route for searching new IR nonlinear-optical material systems by combining two or more different bond types with no IR absorption within a single compound through supramolecular assembly. Theory predications based on first-principles calculations are also performed on the SHG properties of 1 and 2.

RESUMO

We employed two pairs of new in-situ-generated chiral amino acid-tetrazole ligands in constructing homochiral Zn(II) coordination compounds: [Zn(tzet)]n (1a for (S)-tzet and 1b for (R)-tzet, H2tzet = N-[2-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)ethyl]tryptophan) and [Zn(tzep)(H2O)2]·H2O (2a for (S)-tzep and 2b for (R)-tzep, H2tzep = N-[2-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)ethyl]proline), which were hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Structural analysis reveals that 1 features a 2D homochiral framework generated by both tetrazolate and carboxylate bridges in tzet(2-) ligands. The isolated structure of 2 is stabilized by extensive hydrogen bonds, which leads to formation of a supramolecular 2D architecture. The absolute configuration induced at the nitrogen atoms of 1 and 2 is strictly related to the neighboring chiral carbon atoms by hydrogen-bond interactions. To further investigate their chirality, the combined experimental and theoretical analyses of circular dichroism spectra reveal the absolute configurations and nature of the Cotton effects. Solid-state excitation and emission spectra for 1 and 2 at room temperature were investigated with relevant density of states calculation, and tunable photoluminescence emission of 1 under different excitation wavelengths was discussed. As nitrogen-rich tetrazolate compounds, 1 and 2 possess higher enthalpies of combustion and may serve as a new family of promising energetic materials.

RESUMO

The present paper reports the high resolution transient Raman laser testing technology under two-stage light gas-gun loading experiment, and its application to studying the Raman spectroscopy of shocked benzene. In the experiments, the frequency shift of C-C stretching vibration (992 cm(-1)) and C-H stretching vibration peak (3 061 cm(-1)) in the low pressure section (less than 8 GPa) varies linearly with the pressure, and the results agree well with reported data in the literature. The structural changes in liquid benzene about 13 GPa were clarified firstly by the Raman spectral technique; the experimental results show that at a pressure of 9.7 GPa, the structural change of liquid benzene has taken place, not reported in the literature about 13 GPa. But the composition in the production is not clear. The measurement system provides an effective means to study the microstructure changes of transparent and translucent material under dynamic loading experiment.

RESUMO

Ectopic thyroid is a rare malformation induced by a migration defect in the developing gland during embryogenesis. In 90% of cases, the ectopic thyroid is located in the lingual region, whereas it is extremely rare in the abdominal cavity, particularly in the pancreas. A 50-year-old female patient presented to the Taizhou First People's Hospital with a complaint of recurrent mid-lower abdominal pain and diarrhea for approximately a month. The abdominal computed tomography scan revealed a space-occupying lesion with abundant blood supply in the head of the pancreas during the consultation. This led to the suspicion of a neuroendocrine tumor. The doctor considered that this lesion in the head of the pancreas could be responsible for the patient's incontinence. A laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy was performed after relevant tests were undertaken and contraindications were ruled out. The patient was diagnosed with ectopic thyroid of the pancreas through postoperative pathology. Ectopic thyroid can be considered in middle-aged and elderly women who present with a mass with abundant blood supply and an unknown diagnosis. Subsequent treatments should be decided after fine-needle aspiration cytology.

RESUMO

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is used as a fuel and propellant in fuel cells and rockets due to its prominent oxidizing and combustion properties. In addition, hydrogen peroxide, as the energetic material with the simplest molecular structure, exhibits general detonation performance under external stimulation. Based on the first-principle method, we calculated the two crystal structure, electronic properties related to sensitivity closely, optical properties of pure hydrogen peroxide, and 48wt.% hydrogen peroxide (H6O4) under pressure. We found that the band gaps of H2O2 and H6O4 become larger under pressure and the former is larger than the latter; neither has the tendency of metallization phase change. The added peak II of TDOS from H6O4 compared with H2O2 come from molecular H2O in crystal structure. The pressure-induced peak (peak 2 and peak II of TDOS from H2O2 and H6O4) splitting is caused by changes (stronger) in the intermolecular hydrogen bond environment in the crystal under pressure. The specific macroscopic optical properties have the characteristics of overall blue-shift under pressure, which is due to the blueshift of the conduction band and the increase of the band gap. We hope to provide some reference and guidance for deeper future research.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of auricular acupoint bloodletting (AB) and auricular acupressure (AA) on sleep quality and the levels of melatonin (MT), glutamic acid (Glu), and γ -aminobutyric acid (GABA) in college students with primary insomnia, and to explore the possible mechanism. METHODS: Totally 74 college students at Hebei University of Chinese Medicine with primary insomnia were selected from October 2019 to October 2020. All patients were assigned to AB+AA group (37 cases, received combination of AB and AA) and AA group (37 cases, received only AA on the same acupoints) by a random number table. Each group was treated twice a week for 4 weeks. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) score, Chinese medicine (CM) syndrome score, total effective rate, serum concentrations of MT, Glu, and GABA, and Glu/GABA ratio were compared between the two groups after treatment and at follow-up. The safety of therapy was also evaluated. RESULTS: After 4-week treatment, the total scores of PSQI, each PSQI component score, and the CM syndrome scores in both groups all decreased (P<0.05); the serum MT concentrations in both groups all increased (P<0.05). The concentrations of Glu and GABA in the AB+AA group were significantly higher than those in the AA group after treatment (P<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in the ratio of Glu/GABA in both groups before and after treatment (P>0.05). At follow-up, the CM syndrome score in the AB+AA group was significantly lower than that in the AA group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in total effective rates and adverse events (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Both AB+AA and AA can relieve insomnia symptoms, but a stronger long-term effect were observed for AB+AA. AB+AA can promote the secretion of MT, increase the levels of Glu and GABA more effective than AA, and regulate their imbalance, and thus it may be benificial for treating insomnia.
