Wearable sensors are experiencing vibrant growth in the fields of health monitoring systems and human motion detection, with comfort becoming a significant research direction for wearable sensing devices. However, the weak moisture-wicking capability of sensor materials leads to liquid retention, severely restricting the comfort of the wearable sensors. This study employs a pattern-guided alignment strategy to construct microhill arrays, endowing triboelectric materials with directional moisture-wicking capability. Within 2.25 s, triboelectric materials can quickly and directionally remove the droplets, driven by the Laplace pressure differences and the wettability gradient. The directional moisture-wicking triboelectric materials exhibit excellent pressure sensing performance, enabling rapid response/recovery (29.1/37.0 ms), thereby achieving real-time online monitoring of human respiration and movement states. This work addresses the long-standing challenge of insufficient moisture-wicking driving force in flexible electronic sensing materials, holding significant implications for enhancing the comfort and application potential of electronic skin and wearable electronic devices.

Excess light causes severe photodamage to photosystem II (PSII) where the primary charge separation for electron transfer takes place. Dissection of mechanisms underlying the PSII maintenance and repair cycle in green algae promotes the usage of genetic engineering and synthetic biology to improve photosynthesis and biomass production. In this study, we systematically analyzed the high light (HL) responsive immunophilin genes in Chlamydomonas (Chlamydomonas reinhardtii) and identified one chloroplast lumen-localized immunophilin, CYN28, as an essential player in HL tolerance. Lack of CYN28 caused HL hypersensitivity, severely reduced accumulation of PSII supercomplexes and compromised PSII repair in cyn28. The thylakoid FtsH (filamentation temperature-sensitive H) is an essential AAA family metalloprotease involved in the degradation of photodamaged D1 during the PSII repair cycle and was identified as one potential target of CYN28. In the cyn28 mutant, the thylakoid FtsH undergoes inefficient turnover under HL conditions. The CYN28-FtsH1/2 interaction relies on the FtsH N-terminal proline residues and is strengthened particularly under HL. Further analyses demonstrated CYN28 displays peptidyl-prolyl isomerase (PPIase) activity, which is necessary for its physiological function. Taken together, we propose that immunophilin CYN28 participates in PSII maintenance and regulates the homeostasis of FtsH under HL stress via its PPIase activity.

The perplexing issues related to positive surgical margins and the considerable negative consequences associated with systemic chemotherapy have posed ongoing challenges for clinicians, especially when it comes to addressing bladder cancer treatment. The current investigation describes the production of nanocomposites loaded with gemcitabine (GEM) and cisplatin (CDDP) through the utilization of electrospinning technology. In vitro and in vivo studies have provided evidence of the strong effectiveness in suppressing tumor advancement while simultaneously reducing the accumulation of chemotherapy drugs within liver and kidney tissues. Mechanically, the GEM and CDDP-loaded electrospun nanocomposites could effectively eliminate myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) in tumor tissues, and recruit CD8+ T cells and NKp46+ NK cells to kill tumor cells, which can also effectively inhibit tumor microvascular formation. Our investigation into the impact of localized administration of chemotherapy through GEM and CDDP-loaded electrospun nanocomposites on the tumor microenvironment will offer novel insights for tackling tumors.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are two highly prevalent and commonly co-occurring neurodevelopmental disorders. The neural mechanisms underpinning the comorbidity of ASD and ADHD (ASD + ADHD) remain unclear. We focused on the topological organization and functional connectivity of brain networks in ASD + ADHD patients versus ASD patients without ADHD (ASD-only). Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) data from 114 ASD and 161 typically developing (TD) individuals were obtained from the Autism Brain Imaging Data Exchange II. The ASD patients comprised 40 ASD + ADHD and 74 ASD-only individuals. We constructed functional brain networks for each group and performed graph-theory and network-based statistic (NBS) analyses. Group differences between ASD + ADHD and ASD-only were analyzed at three levels: nodal, global, and connectivity. At the nodal level, ASD + ADHD exhibited topological disorganization in the temporal and occipital regions, compared with ASD-only. At the global level, ASD + ADHD and ASD-only displayed no significant differences. At the connectivity level, the NBS analysis revealed that ASD + ADHD showed enhanced functional connectivity between the prefrontal and frontoparietal regions, as well as between the orbitofrontal and occipital regions, compared with ASD-only. The hippocampus was the shared region in aberrant functional connectivity patterns in ASD + ADHD and ASD-only compared with TD. These findings suggests that ASD + ADHD displays altered topology and functional connectivity in the brain regions that undertake social cognition, language processing, and sensory processing.

Accurate fault diagnosis is essential for the safe operation of rotating machinery. Recently, traditional deep learning-based fault diagnosis have achieved promising results. However, most of these methods focus only on supervised learning and tend to use small convolution kernels non-effectively to extract features that are not controllable and have poor interpretability. To this end, this study proposes an innovative semi-supervised learning method for bearing fault diagnosis. Firstly, multi-scale dilated convolution squeeze-and-excitation residual blocks are designed to exact local and global features. Secondly, a classifier generative adversarial network is employed to achieve multi-task learning. Both unsupervised and supervised learning are performed simultaneously to improve the generalization ability. Finally, supervised learning is applied to fine-tune the final model, which can extract multi-scale features and be further improved by implicit data augmentation. Experiments on two datasets were carried out, and the results verified the superiority of the proposed method.

To address the problem that complex bearing faults are coupled to each other, and the difficulty of diagnosis increases, an improved envelope spectrum-maximum second-order cyclostationary blind deconvolution (IES-CYCBD) method is proposed to realize the separation of vibration signal fault features. The improved envelope spectrum (IES) is obtained by integrating the part of the frequency axis containing resonance bands in the cyclic spectral coherence function. The resonant bands corresponding to different fault types are accurately located, and the IES with more prominent target characteristic frequency components are separated. Then, a simulation is carried out to prove the ability of this method, which can accurately separate and diagnose fault types under high noise and compound fault conditions. Finally, a compound bearing fault experiment with inner and outer ring faults is designed, and the inner and outer ring fault characteristics are successfully separated by the proposed IES-CYCBD method. Therefore, simulation and experiments demonstrate the strong capability of the proposed method for complex fault separation and diagnosis.

Valvular heart disease (VHD) is a prevalent cardiac manifestation in antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) patients. However, risk factors and predictors for antiphospholipid antibody-associated VHD (aPL-VHD) remain vague. We aimed to assess the risk of developing aPL-VHD in aPL-positive patients, by establishing a clinical prediction model upon a cross-sectional cohort from APS-Shanghai database, including 383 APS patients and durable aPL carriers with transthoracic echocardiography investigation. The prevalence of aPL-VHD was 11.5%. Multivariate logistic regression analysis identified three independent risk factors for aPL-VHD: anti-ß2GPI IgG (OR 5.970, P < 0.001), arterial thrombosis (OR 2.758, P = 0.007), and stratified estimated glomerular filtration rate levels (OR 0.534, P = 0.001). A prediction model for aPL-VHD, incorporating the three factors, was further developed, which demonstrated good discrimination with a C-index of 0.855 and 0.841 (after bootstrapping), and excellent calibration (P = 0.790). We provide a practical tool for assessing the risk of developing VHD among aPL-positive patients.

BACKGROUND: Infected pancreatic necrosis (IPN) accounts for 30% mortality in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). Early prediction of IPN occurrence is critical for prophylactic measures to be taken. This study aimed to evaluate the predicting value for IPN of combined markers at early stages of SAP. METHODS: The clinical records of 324 SAP patients admitted within 48 h after disease onset were retrospectively analyzed. As potential predictors, the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), blood procalcitonin (PCT) concentration on the 1st, 4th, and 7th day post admission, as well as modified computerized tomography severity index (MCTSI) on the 5-7th day post admission, were extracted. Correlations between these features with IPN were analyzed using logistic regression, and predictive values were estimated using the receiver operating characteristic curve analyses. RESULTS: NLR, PCT, body mass index, and MCTSI were significantly higher in the IPN group (p < 0.001) compared to the control, among which NLR, PCT, and MCTSI were identified as independent predictors for IPN in logistic regression model. Combination of these parameters yielded significant predicting values with an area under curve of 0.92, sensitivity of 97.2%, and specificity of 77.2% in receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. CONCLUSION: Combination of NLR, PCT, MCTSI might facilitate the prediction of IPN occurrence in SAP patients.

INTRODUCTION: Postoperative hypertension resolution among patients with adrenal incidentalomas and normal hormone levels was unknown. Identifying the predictive factors was beneficial to the management of adrenal incidentalomas. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective cohort study, recruiting patients undergoing laparoscopic adrenal tumor resection for adrenal incidentaloma with hypertension and normal hormone levels. Demographic, clinical, treatment, and laboratory data were collected and compared. We used univariable and multivariable logistic regression methods to identify the predictive factors of postoperative hypertension resolution. RESULTS: Of the 171 patients in our study, 130 (76.0%) patients performed a resolution of hypertension, and 57 (33.3%) patients had a significant reduction. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the male sex (odds ratio (OR) 0.305, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.098-0.948, p = 0.040), body mass index (BMI) (OR 0.973, 95% CI: 0.670-0.938, p = 0.007), aldosterone and plasma renin activity ratio (APR) in erect position (OR 1.206, 95% CI: 1.042-1.397, p = 0.012), and preoperative systolic pressure (OR 1.044, 95% CI: 1.009-1.080, p = 0.014), were significantly associated with the outcomes of hypertension resolution. DISCUSSION/CONCLUSION: Adrenal incidentalomas patients with hypertension and normal hormone levels would perform hypertension resolution after laparoscopic adrenal tumor resection, especially for females with low BMI, high preoperative systolic blood pressure, and high APR (erect position).

BACKGROUND: The object was to compare changes in patients undergoing lung surgery before and after COVID-19 outbreak, and to explore the impact of COVID-19 on lung surgery and its coping strategies. METHOD: A retrospective review of patients undergoing thoracic surgery at a single institution was conducted. Group A included patients treated between January 23, 2019, and January 23, 2020, while Group B included patients treated between June 1, 2020, and June 1, 2021, at our center. We compared the reasons of seeking medical treatment, the general characteristics of patients, imaging features, pathological features, surgical methods and postoperative recovery. RESULT: Compared to Group A, the number of patients with pulmonary nodules screened by routine check-up increased in Group B (57.6% vs 46.9%, p < 0.05). Female patient increased (55.2%vs 44.7%). Patient without smoking history or with family history of lung cancer increased (70.7% vs 60.7%) (10.1%vs 7.8%). Early stage lung cancer increased. Lobectomy decreased (53.4% vs 64.1%). Segmental resection increased (33.3% vs 12.7%). Patients without postoperative comorbidities increased (96.1%vs 85.7%). In the case of patients with Ground Glass Opacity(GGO), their age was comparatively lower (52 ± 9.9 vs. 55 ± 10.7), the female patients increased, patient without smoking history, tumor history, family history of tumor increased, small GGO increased. Lobectomy decreased (35.2% vs 49.7%). Segmental resection increased (49.6% vs 21.2%). Patients without postoperative comorbidities increased (96.5% vs 87.4%). CONCLUSION: Since COVID-19 outbreak, more young, non-smoking, female lung cancers, more Ground Glass Opacity, none high risk patients have been detected through screening, suggesting that our current screening criteria for lung cancer may need to be revised. Higher requirements, including the selection of the timing of nodular surgery, surgical methods were put forward for thoracic surgeons' skills.

In this study, we developed a data-driven frequency domain analysis method for rotor systems using the NARX (Nonlinear Auto-Regressive with eXternal input) model established by system vibration signals. We propose a model-based index of fault features calculated in a multi-frequency range to facilitate condition monitoring of rotor systems. Four steps are included in the proposed method. Firstly, displacement vibration signals are collected at multiple monitored rotating speeds. Secondly, the collected signals are processed as output data and the corresponding input data is generated. Then, NARX models are developed with input and output data to characterize the rotor system. Finally, the NRSF (Nonlinear Response Spectrum Function)-based nonlinear fault index is calculated and compared to the healthy condition. An experimental application to the misaligned rotor system is also demonstrated to verify its effectiveness. Our results indicate that the value of the index directly reflects the severity of the misaligned fault.

Drought stress severely limits plant growth and production in apple (Malus domestica Borkh.). To breed water-deficit-tolerant apple cultivars that maintain high yields under slight or moderate drought stress, it is important to uncover the mechanisms underlying the transcriptional regulation of chlorophyll metabolism in apple. To explore this mechanism, we generated transgenic 'Gala3' apple plants with overexpression or knockdown of MdWRKY17, which encodes a transcription factor whose expression is significantly induced by water deficit. Under moderate drought stress, we observed significantly higher chlorophyll contents and photosynthesis rates in overexpression transgenic plants than in controls, whereas these were dramatically lower in the knockdown lines. MdWRKY17 directly regulates MdSUFB expression, as demonstrated by in vitro and in vivo experiments. MdSUFB, a key component of the sulfur mobilization (SUF) system that assembles Fe-S clusters, is essential for inhibiting chlorophyll degradation and stabilizing electron transport during photosynthesis, leading to higher chlorophyll levels in transgenic apple plants overexpressing MdWRKY17. The activated MdMEK2-MdMPK6 cascade by water-deficit stress fine-tunes the MdWRKY17-MdSUFB pathway by phosphorylating MdWRKY17 under water-deficit stress. This fine-tuning of the MdWRKY17-MdSUFB regulatory pathway is important for balancing plant survival and yield losses (chlorophyll degradation and reduced photosynthesis) under slight or moderate drought stress. The phosphorylation by MdMEK2-MdMPK6 activates the MdWRKY17-MdSUFB pathway at S66 (identified by LC-MS), as demonstrated by in vitro and in vivo experiments. Our findings reveal that the MdMEK2-MdMPK6-MdWRKY17-MdSUFB pathway stabilizes chlorophyll levels under moderate drought stress, which could facilitate the breeding of apple varieties that maintain high yields under drought stress.

The dual-process theory that two different systems of thought coexist in creative thinking has attracted considerable attention. In the field of creative thinking, divergent thinking (DT) is the ability to produce multiple solutions to open-ended problems in a short time. It is mainly considered an associative and fast process. Meanwhile, insight, the new and unexpected comprehension of close-ended problems, is frequently marked as a deliberate and time-consuming thinking process requiring concentrated effort. Previous research has been dedicated to revealing their separate neural mechanisms, while few studies have compared their differences and similarities at the brain level. Therefore, the current study applied Activation Likelihood Estimation to decipher common and distinctive neural pathways that potentially underlie DT and insight. We selected 27 DT studies and 30 insight studies for retrospective meta-analyses. Initially, two single analyses with follow-up contrast and conjunction analyses were performed. The single analyses showed that DT mainly involved the inferior parietal lobe (IPL), cuneus, and middle frontal gyrus (MFG), while the precentral gyrus, inferior frontal gyrus (IFG), parahippocampal gyrus (PG), amygdala (AMG), and superior parietal lobe were engaged in insight. Compared to insight, DT mainly led to greater activation in the IPL, the crucial part of the default mode network. However, insight caused more significant activation in regions related to executive control functions and emotional responses, such as the IFG, MFG, PG, and AMG. Notably, the conjunction analysis detected no overlapped areas between DT and insight. These neural findings implicate that various neurocognitive circuits may support DT and insight.

Glomerella leaf spot (GLS), a fungal disease caused by Colletotrichum fructicola, severely affects apple quality and yield, yet few resistance genes have been identified in apple (Malus domestica Borkh.). Here we found a transcription factor MdWRKY17 significantly induced by C. fructicola infection in the susceptible apple cultivar "Gala." MdWRKY17 overexpressing transgenic "Gala" plants exhibited increased susceptibility to C. fructicola, whereas MdWRKY17 RNA-interference plants showed opposite phenotypes, indicating MdWRKY17 acts as a plant susceptibility factor during C. fructicola infection. Furthermore, MdWRKY17 directly bound to the promoter of the salicylic acid (SA) degradation gene Downy Mildew Resistant 6 (MdDMR6) and promoted its expression, resulting in reduced resistance to C. fructicola. Additionally, Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) 3 (MdMPK3) directly interacted with and phosphorylated MdWRKY17. Importantly, predicted phosphorylation residues in MdWRKY17 by MAPK kinase 4 (MdMEK4)-MdMPK3 were critical for the activity of MdWRKY17 to regulate MdDMR6 expression. In the six susceptible germplasms, MdWRKY17 levels were significantly higher than the six tolerant germplasms after infection, which corresponded with lower SA content, confirming the critical role of MdWRKY17-mediated SA degradation in GLS tolerance. Our study reveals a rapid regulatory mechanism of MdWRKY17, which is essential for SA degradation and GLS susceptibility, paving the way to generate GLS resistant apple.

Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine) biosynthesis in plants is induced by darkness and high-intensity light; however, the underlying transcriptional mechanisms and upstream signalling pathways are unknown. We identified a dark-induced and highly expressed melatonin synthetase in Arabidopsis thaliana, AtSNAT6, encoding serotonin N-acetyltransferase. We assessed melatonin content and AtSNAT6 expression in mutants lacking key regulators of light/dark signalling. AtCOP1 (CONSTITUTIVE PHOTOMORPHOGENIC 1) and AtHY5 (ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL 5), which control light/dark transition and photomorphogenesis, promoted and suppressed melatonin biosynthesis, respectively. Using EMSA and ChIP-qPCR analysis, we showed that AtHY5 inhibits AtSNAT6 expression directly. An analysis of melatonin content in snat6 hy5 double mutant and AtHY5+AtSNAT6-overexpressing plants confirmed the regulatory function of AtHY5 and AtSNAT6 in melatonin biosynthesis. Exogenous melatonin further inhibited cotyledon opening in hy5 mutant and AtSNAT6-overexpressing seedlings, but partially reversed the promotion of cotyledon opening in AtHY5-overexpressing seedlings and snat6. Additionally, CRISPR/Cas9-mediated mutation of AtSNAT6 increased cotyledon opening in hy5 mutant, and overexpression of AtSNAT6 decreased cotyledon opening in AtHY5-overexpressing seedlings via changing melatonin biosynthesis, confirming that AtHY5 decreased melatonin-mediated inhibition of cotyledon opening. Our data provide new insights into the regulation of melatonin biosynthesis and its function in cotyledon opening.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to detect the predictors of vein graft disease (VGD) progression between 1 week and 1 year after surgery and to evaluate the impact of secondary prevention medications. METHODS: A total of 218 consecutive patients underwent surgical coronary revascularization were evaluated by coronary computed tomography angiography both at 1-week and 1-year follow-up. Logistic regression analyses were performed to investigate the predictors of VGD progression. A risk score (0-4) was set up to evaluate implementation result of secondary prevention measures according to 1-year follow-up result. Association between VGD progression and the risk score was assessed. RESULTS: VGD progression occurred in 11.3% of saphenous vein grafts (SVG) and 22.1% of patients. At the patient level, poor vein graft (odds ratio [OR] = 4.25), noncontrolled hyperlipidemia (OR = 3.01), and diabetes mellitus (DM) (OR = 2.96) were predictors, while diameter of SVG (mm, OR = 0.35) was protective factor. At the graft level, DM (OR = 3.52), noncontrolled hyperlipidemia (OR = 2.33), and peripheral artery disease (PAD) (OR = 2.20) were predictors, while number of SVGs (OR = 0.63), diameter of SVG (mm, OR = 0.39), and mean graft flow >25 ml/min (OR = 0.35) were protective factors. VGD progression was significantly associated with the risk score at both the patient (OR = 1.52) and the graft level (OR = 1.38). CONCLUSIONS: Poor vein graft, noncontrolled hyperlipidemia and DM were predictors of VGD progression between 1 week and 1 year after surgery at the patient level, while larger SVG diameter was a protective factor. DM, PAD and noncontrolled hyperlipidemia were predictors at the graft level, while a number of SVGs, larger SVG diameter, and mean graft flow >25 ml/min were protective factors. Implementation failure of secondary prevention medications was associated with VGD progression from as early as 1 year after surgery.

BACKGROUND: With the growing number of patients with coexisting pulmonary and mediastinal lesions detected, reports about simultaneous video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) for these concurrent diseases are still rare. To further explore the safety and effectiveness of simultaneous resection of pulmonary and mediastinal lesions by uniportal or biportal VATS, we retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of the largest series of cases to date. METHODS: From July 2018 to July 2021, all patients whose pulmonary lesions and mediastinal tumors were resected simultaneously in our institution were retrospectively reviewed. Their demographic and clinical data were collected and analyzed. RESULTS: A total of 54 patients were enrolled, of whom 44 underwent unilateral uniportal VATS, 3 underwent bilateral uniportal VATS and 7 underwent unilateral biportal VATS. Seven cases were converted to thoracotomy during surgery. For the remaining 47 patients with various demographic and clinical characteristics, most of the operations were completed within 3 h (n = 33, 70.2%) with blood loss of no more than 100 mL (n = 43, 91.5%). The duration of chest tube drainage was 5.66 ± 3.34 days, and the average daily volume was 196.90 ± 122.31 mL. Four cases of postoperative complications occurred during hospitalization. The length of postoperative hospital stay was 8.60 ± 3.63 days. No severe complications or deaths were observed during follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: Uniportal and biportal VATS are safe and effective for simultaneous resection of selected coexisting pulmonary and mediastinal lesions, but the indications and operational details need more evaluation.

Importance: The role of ticagrelor with or without aspirin after coronary artery bypass graft surgery remains unclear. Objective: To compare the risks of vein graft failure and bleeding associated with ticagrelor dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) or ticagrelor monotherapy vs aspirin among patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Data Sources: MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases from inception to June 1, 2022, without language restriction. Study Selection: Randomized clinical trials (RCTs) comparing the effects of ticagrelor DAPT or ticagrelor monotherapy vs aspirin on saphenous vein graft failure. Data Extraction and Synthesis: Individual patient data provided by each trial were synthesized into a combined data set for independent analysis. Multilevel logistic regression models were used. Main Outcomes and Measures: The primary analysis assessed the incidence of saphenous vein graft failure per graft (primary outcome) in RCTs comparing ticagrelor DAPT with aspirin. Secondary outcomes were saphenous vein graft failure per patient and Bleeding Academic Research Consortium (BARC) type 2, 3, or 5 bleeding events. A supplementary analysis included RCTs comparing ticagrelor monotherapy with aspirin. Results: A total of 4 RCTs were included in the meta-analysis, involving 1316 patients and 1668 saphenous vein grafts. Of the 871 patients in the primary analysis, 435 received ticagrelor DAPT (median age, 67 years [IQR, 60-72 years]; 65 women [14.9%]; 370 men [85.1%]) and 436 received aspirin (median age, 66 years [IQR, 61-73 years]; 63 women [14.5%]; 373 men [85.5%]). Ticagrelor DAPT was associated with a significantly lower incidence of saphenous vein graft failure (11.2%) per graft than was aspirin (20%; difference, -8.7% [95% CI, -13.5% to -3.9%]; OR, 0.51 [95% CI, 0.35 to 0.74]; P < .001) and was associated with a significantly lower incidence of saphenous vein graft failure per patient (13.2% vs 23.0%, difference, -9.7% [95% CI, -14.9% to -4.4%]; OR, 0.51 [95% CI, 0.35 to 0.74]; P < .001). Ticagrelor DAPT (22.1%) was associated with a significantly higher incidence of BARC type 2, 3, or 5 bleeding events than was aspirin (8.7%; difference, 13.3% [95% CI, 8.6% to 18.0%]; OR, 2.98 [95% CI, 1.99 to 4.47]; P < .001), but not BARC type 3 or 5 bleeding events (1.8% vs 1.8%, difference, 0% [95% CI, -1.8% to 1.8%]; OR, 1.00 [95% CI, 0.37 to 2.69]; P = .99). Compared with aspirin, ticagrelor monotherapy was not significantly associated with saphenous vein graft failure (19.3% vs 21.7%, difference, -2.6% [95% CI, -9.1% to 3.9%]; OR, 0.86 [95% CI, 0.58 to 1.27]; P = .44) or BARC type 2, 3, or 5 bleeding events (8.9% vs 7.3%, difference, 1.7% [95% CI, -2.8% to 6.1%]; OR, 1.25 [95% CI, 0.69 to 2.29]; P = .46). Conclusions and Relevance: Among patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery, adding ticagrelor to aspirin was associated with a significantly decreased risk of vein graft failure. However, this was accompanied by a significantly increased risk of clinically important bleeding.

Three-dimensionally mesoporous La1-xSrxFeO3 (x = 0, 0.4, 0.6) precursors have been synthesized through a facile solvothermal process. After high-temperature sintering, La1-xSrxFeO3 still exhibits uniform morphology and good dispersibility, which provides a porous structure and favorable surface area. Particularly, La0.4Sr0.6FeO3 shows the biggest surface area of 58 m2 g-1. Doping also induces the generation of oxygen vacancies and Fe4+, which is beneficial for the conductivity and catalytic activity of the materials. Complete with favorable structure and electrochemical activity, La0.4Sr0.6FeO3 exhibits bifunctional catalytic activity in alkaline solution. Applied as a cathode catalyst in Li-O2 batteries, it shows a larger discharge capacity of 23 905 mA h g-1 and a better cycling stability of 100 cycles.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: The presence and severity of upper gastrointestinal mucosal lesions have not been evaluated using esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) in patients receiving ticagrelor plus aspirin or alone after myocardial revascularization. We assessed upper gastrointestinal mucosal injury and the use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) in patients receiving 1 year of antiplatelet therapy after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). METHODS: In this single-center prospective substudy of a randomized trial, 231 patients completing 1-year antiplatelet therapy (ticagrelor 90 mg twice daily plus aspirin 100 mg once daily, ticagrelor 90 mg twice daily, or aspirin 100 mg once daily, in 81, 80, and 70 patients, respectively) after CABG underwent 13 C urea breath testing and EGD. Gastroduodenal lesions were assessed by modified Lanza score, and reflux esophagitis was evaluated according to Los Angeles classification. Additionally, at least one ulcer ≥ 5 mm was separately analyzed. RESULTS: Among 231 patients, EGD showed 28 (12.1%) with ulcers ≥ 5 mm, which were detected in 13.6% (11/81) of ticagrelor plus aspirin recipients, 8.8% (7/80) of ticagrelor recipients, and 14.3% (10/70) of aspirin recipients, and 24 (10.4%) had reflux esophagitis. Eighty-eight (38.1%) patients had a positive 13 C urea breath testing after 1 year of treatment, and one patient received eradication therapy during follow up. Nineteen (8.2%) patients received a PPI for ≥ 6 months. CONCLUSIONS: Severe upper gastrointestinal mucosal lesions were more frequently observed in patients treated with ticagrelor plus aspirin and aspirin monotherapy than in patients treated with ticagrelor monotherapy for 1 year post-CABG. Prophylactic use of PPIs might be inadequate.
