RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: The objective of the study was to determine the level of antibodies (AB) of Ig classes A and G to estradiol (E2), progesterone (P) and benzo [a] pyrene (Bp) in patients with endometriosis of various severity and estimate their threshold values as a risk factor for the development of endometriosis. METHODS: A retrospective case-control study was performed. The study involved 200 women. Group I: women with endometriosis (n=100), Group II: patients with tubal-peritoneal infertility (n=100). All patients underwent immunological studies of blood serum; and the levels of steroid hormones (P, E2), antibodies to them and Bp were determined. A ROC analysis was carried out to identify threshold values of antibodies levels. RESULTS: Women with endometriosis were found to have statistically significantly higher levels of antibodies IgA and IgG to E2, P and benzo [a] pyrene compared to women of Group II. The threshold levels of IgA-Bp, IgA-E2 and IgA-P are >5 CU (conventional unit), IgG-Bp, IgG-E2>9 CU and IgG-P>8 CU. The level of IgG-P in patients with severe forms of endometriosis is statistically significantly higher than in minor forms of the disease. In case of severe forms, there is a tendency to increasing other classes of antibodies. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with endometriosis usually have a higher level of IgA and IgG to Bp, E2, P. Their threshold values, which are risk factors for the development of the disease, are estimated.

Background To analyze the allelic variants of genes of enzymes involved in estrogen metabolism: CYP1A1, CYP1A2, CYP19 and SULT1A1 using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) analysis of women with histologically confirmed adenomyosis and women without proliferative diseases of pelvic organs was performed. We studied the following polymorphisms: CYP1A1 M1, T264 → C transition in the 3'-noncoding region; CYP1A2*1F, C734 → A transversion in CYP1A2 gene; C → T transition (Arg264Cys) in exon 7 of CYP19; SULT1A1*2, G638 → A transition (Arg213His) in the SULT1A1 gene. Materials and methods The study included 804 patients. Group I (experimental group) consisted of 268 women with adenomyosis. Inclusion criteria were: histological verification of adenomyosis, consent of patients to participate in the study. Group II (control group) - 536 women without proliferative diseases of the uterus. Inclusion criteria were: lack of proliferative processes of the uterus histologically confirmed by ultrasound examination, patient's consent to participate in the study. Results We found the significant association of C allele, T/C and C/C genotypes of the CYP1A1 gene (CYP1A1 M1 polymorphism), A allele, C/A and A/A genotypes of the CYP1A2 gene (CYP1A2*1F polymorphism) and the T allele, C/T and C/C genotypes of the CYP19 (Arg264Cys polymorphism) gene with the risk for adenomyosis. Conclusions Patients with adenomyosis had increased frequency of C allele, T/C and C/C genotypes of the CYP1A1 gene, A allele, C/A and A/A genotypes of the CYP1A2 gene and T allele and C/T and C/C genotypes of the CYP19 gene and, on the contrary, decreased frequency of the mutant allele and heterozygous and mutant homozygous genotype of the CYP1A2 gene compared to women without proliferative diseases of the uterus.

Ethnic diversity describes the plurality of ethnicities within a group of people coexisting in one territory. The permanent presence of other cultures' representatives can trigger a sense of jeopardy; a feeling that the prevailing way of life, its norms, and its values are challenged by strangers, which results in hostility to ethnic minorities living in the same territory. In this context, the study aimed at investigating specific features of the individual's ethnic identity determined by the degree of the ethnic diversity of their living environment is of relevance. In order to define regions for the study, the comparative analysis of the ethnic diversity of Russian regions was conducted. Two regions for the study were defined: the Sverdlovsk region as a territory with average ethnic diversity and the Republic of Bashkortostan as a highly diverse region in terms of ethnicity. The respondents from less ethno-diverse areas exhibit global self-identification, the awareness of being a part of the world, and territorial identity. Differences in the degree of sustainability and the intensity of ethnic self-identification of the subjects from regions with varying degrees of ethnic diversity were revealed. Significant distinctions in the meaning of ethnicity for the compared groups of the respondents were found.
