RESUMEN

Titanium alloy has been widely used in Marine pipeline system because of its excellent corrosion resistance. However, there are differences in microstructure and electrochemical properties because of the heterogeneous structure of the welded joint, the corrosion behavior is often different. In this paper, the corrosion behavior of TA2 titanium alloy welded joint in seawater at different temperatures was studied by traditional macro electrochemical test analysis combined with microelectrode array test and surface morphology analysis. Conventional macroscopic electrochemical analysis results show that the corrosion resistance of heat-affected zone is always the best, followed by the base metal and the weld. And the higher the temperature, the easier the formation of passivation film. The results of microelectrode array test show that the heat-affected zone is always the cathode region of the whole welded joint, and part of the cathode near the base metal region has the largest current density, which acts as the main cathode to slow down corrosion. At slightly higher temperatures, the polarity deflection will occur in the base metal zone and weld zone due to the different formation speeds of passivation film in early corrosion stage. With the prolongation of corrosion time, the base metal eventually becomes the cathode zone and the weld zone eventually becomes the anode zone.

RESUMEN

Background: The effect of herbal medicine (HM) on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is controversial. Clinical trials investigating HMs continue; however, the use of HM is still questioned. We aimed to systematically review the literature pertaining to the effects and safety of HM in ALS. Methods: Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) that investigated the efficacy of HMs in ALS patients compared to any types of controls were identified. Nine databases and six registers were searched from their inception dates to 25 March 2022. Per the PRISMA guidelines, trials were identified and extracted. The risk of bias was evaluated using the Cochrane's tool. Certainty of evidence was assessed as per the GRADE criteria. Forest plots were constructed to assess the effect size and corresponding 95% CIs using fixed-effect models, and random-effect models were employed when required. The primary outcome was the activity limitation measured by validated tools, such as the revised ALS Functional Rating Scale. Results: Twenty studies (N = 1,218) were eligible. Of these, only five studies were double-blinded, and two were placebo-controlled. Fourteen HMs (fifty-one single botanicals) were involved; Astragalus mongholicus Bunge, Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz., and Glycyrrhiza glabra L. were commonly used in nine, eight, and six trials, respectively. For delaying activity limitation, Jiweiling injection (MD, 2.84; 95% CI, 1.21 to 4.46; p = 0.0006) and Shenmai injection (SMD, 1.07; 0.69 to 1.45; p < 0.00001) were significantly more efficacious than Riluzole, but the evidence was low quality. For ameliorating motor neuron loss, Jiweiling injection [right abductor pollicis brevis (APB): MD, 32.42; 7.91 to 56.93; p = 0.01 and left APB: MD, 34.44; 12.85 to 56.03; p = 0.002] was favoured, but the evidence was very low quality. Nine studies reported one hundred and twenty-three adverse events, twenty-six of which occurred in the treatment groups and ninety-seven in the control groups. Conclusion: Very low to low quality of evidence suggests that HMs seem to produce superior treatment responses for ALS without increased risk of adverse events. Additional studies with homogeneous participants, reduced methodological issues, and more efficient outcome measures are required to provide confirmatory evidence. BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of antirheumatic drug treatment on knee function of stiff knee patients after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). METHODS: Twenty-seven patients (44 knees) of active RA (rheumatoid arthritis) or AS (ankylosing spondylitis) with stiff knees were included in this study. And they were divided into two groups according to continue antirheumatic drug treatment or not after TKA: the therapeutic group (16 patients, 27 knees) and the controlled group (11 patients, 17 knees). The outcomes were assessed by Knee Society Score (KSS), Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), range of motion (ROM) (at week 6, month 6, year 1, and year 2), "Forgotten Joint" Scale (FJS), with or without crutch, satisfaction, and revision (at year 2). The knee prosthetic loosening was evaluated by the followed X-ray at each following time. RESULTS: The mean follow-up time was 51 months (34-69 months). The KSS was higher at week 6 after TKA in the therapeutic group (p < 0.05); however, the functional scores of KSS at month 6, year 1, and year 2 in the controlled group were more points improved. The therapeutic patients preferred the knee more at month 6, year 1, and year 2. The differences of KSS clinical scores (at month 6, year 1, and year 2), VAS, ROM, Crutch and FJS between the two groups were not statistically significant (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION: For patients with stiff knees, the sequential antirheumatic drug treatment after TKA had no obvious effect on postoperative KSS, but can improve the satisfaction.
