BACKGROUND: Although network analysis studies of psychiatric syndromes have increased in recent years, most have emphasized centrality symptoms and robust edges. Broadening the focus to include bridge symptoms within a systematic review could help to elucidate symptoms having the strongest links in network models of psychiatric syndromes. We conducted this systematic review and statistical evaluation of network analyses on depressive and anxiety symptoms to identify the most central symptoms and bridge symptoms, as well as the most robust edge indices of networks. METHODS: A systematic literature search was performed in PubMed, PsycINFO, Web of Science, and EMBASE databases from their inception to May 25, 2022. To determine the most influential symptoms and connections, we analyzed centrality and bridge centrality rankings and aggregated the most robust symptom connections into a summary network. After determining the most central symptoms and bridge symptoms across network models, heterogeneity across studies was examined using linear logistic regression. RESULTS: Thirty-three studies with 78,721 participants were included in this systematic review. Seventeen studies with 23 cross-sectional networks based on the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) assessments of clinical and community samples were examined using centrality scores. Twelve cross-sectional networks based on the PHQ and GAD-7 assessments were examined using bridge centrality scores. We found substantial variability between study samples and network features. 'Sad mood', 'Uncontrollable worry', and 'Worrying too much' were the most central symptoms, while 'Sad mood', 'Restlessness', and 'Motor disturbance' were the most frequent bridge centrality symptoms. In addition, the connection between 'Sleep' and 'Fatigue' was the most frequent edge for the depressive and anxiety symptoms network model. CONCLUSION: Central symptoms, bridge symptoms and robust edges identified in this systematic review can be viewed as potential intervention targets. We also identified gaps in the literature and future directions for network analysis of comorbid depression and anxiety.

This study collected 80 samples of suspected kratom plant powder. A polymerase chain reaction sequence analysis was conducted using two sets of DNA barcode primers for plant ribosomal (r)DNA internal transcribed spacers (ITSs), namely, ITS3/ITS4 and ITS-p3/ITS-u4. Among the 80 samples, 40 were analyzed using the ITS3/ITS4 primer pair, and then DNA sequences were subjected to a National Center for Biotechnology Information-Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (NCBI-BLAST) comparison. Results showed that 29 samples had a 100% match (364/364) with Mitragyna speciosa (kratom), and 6 samples had a 99.73% match (363/364) with M. speciosa, whereas 5 samples had disordered and unreadable sequences. The 5 unreadable samples and an additional 40 suspected kratom samples were then analyzed using the ITS-p3/ITS-u4 primer pair, followed by an NCBI-BLAST comparison. Among these, 32 samples had a 100% match (404/404) with M. speciosa, and 11 samples had a 99.75% match (403/404) with M. speciosa. Among the samples with sequences matching M. speciosa, three distinct types were observed (no variance/404, 287M/404, and 287A/404). One sample had a 99.51% match (404/406) with Neolamarckia cadamba, and another sample had a sequencing length of 305 bp, with 25 positions showing mixed base pairs, indicating a mixture of different species. Analysis of the mixed base pair pattern suggested a possible mixture of M. speciosa and N. cadamba. Actually, M. speciosa and N. cadamba have very similar external morphologies. This indicates that the ITS-p3/ITS-u4 primer pair is effective in distinguishing mixtures of M. speciosa and N. cadamba and is thus more suitable than ITS3/ITS4 for identifying and analyzing samples of suspected kratom plant powder.

In this study, we determined the complete genome sequence of a novel totivirus, tentatively named "Mangifera indica totivirus 1" (MiTV1), identified in 'Apple' mango in China. The double-stranded RNA genome of MiTV1 is 4800 base pairs (bp) in length and contains two open reading frames (ORFs) encoding a putative coat protein (CP) and an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp). Phylogenetic analysis based on RdRp and CP amino acid sequences showed that MiTV1 is closely related to members of the genus Totivirus in the family Totiviridae. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a totivirus found in Mangifera indica.

Flowers are crucial for the reproduction of flowering plants and their senescence has drastic effects on plant-animal interactions as well as pollination. Petal senescence is the final phase of flower development which is regulated by hormones and genes. Among these, jasmonic acid (JA) has emerged as a major contributor to petal senescence, but its molecular mechanisms remain elusive. Here, the role of JA in petal senescence in Arabidopsis was investigated. We showed that petal senescence in aos mutant was significantly delayed, which also affected petal cell size and proliferation. Similar significant delays in petal senescence were observed in dad1 and coi1 mutants. However, MYB21/24 and MYC2/3/4, known downstream regulators of JA in flower development, played no role in petal senescence. This indicated that JA regulates petal senescence by modulating other unknown transcription factors. Transcriptomic analysis revealed that AOS altered the expression of 3681 genes associated, and identified groups of differentially expressed transcription factors, highlighting the potential involvement of AP-2, WRKY and NAC. Furthermore, bHLH13, bHLH17 and URH2 were identified as potential new regulators of JA-mediated petal senescence. In conclusion, our findings suggest a novel genetic pathway through which JA regulates petal senescence in Arabidopsis. This pathway operates independently of stamen development and leaf senescence, suggesting the evolution of specialized mechanisms for petal senescence. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination on semen parameters through systematic review and meta-analysis. PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library were comprehensively searched by June 2022. Studies were considered eligible if they compared semen parameters before and after COVID-19 vaccination or between vaccinated and unvaccinated men, with no restrictions on vaccine types or doses. The effect size was calculated as mean difference (MD) with 95% confidence interval (CI) using a random-effects model. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses were conducted to assess the sources of heterogeneity measured by the I2 statistic, with publication bias evaluated by Egger's test. Twelve cohort studies involving 914 participants fulfilled the inclusion criteria. In a comparison of vaccinated versus unvaccinated group, the pooled data revealed no significant differences in semen volume (MD = 0.18 ml, 95% CI -0.02 to 0.38), sperm concentration (MD = 1.16 million/ml, 95% CI -1.34 to 3.66), total sperm motility (MD = -0.14%, 95% CI -2.84 to 2.56), progressive sperm motility (MD = -1.06%, 95% CI -2.88 to 0.77), total sperm count (MD = 5.92 million, 95% CI -10.22 to 22.05), total motile sperm count (MD = 2.18 million, 95% CI -1.28 to 5.63), total progressively motile sperm count (MD = -3.87 million, 95% CI -13.16 to 5.43), and sperm morphology (MD = 0.07%, 95% CI -0.84 to 0.97). The results also remained similar across messenger ribonucleic acid, viral-vector, and inactivated COVID-19 vaccines. Sensitivity analysis identified two individual studies that contributed to heterogeneity, while the effect size was not materially altered. No obvious publication bias was detected among included studies. Our finding suggested that COVID-19 vaccination had no detrimental impact on semen quality, which could be potentially helpful to reduce male vaccine hesitancy and increase vaccination coverage.

Auxin response factors (ARFs) play important roles in various plant physiological processes; however, knowledge of the exact role of ARFs in plant responses to water deficit is limited. In this study, SlARF4, a member of the ARF family, was functionally characterized under water deficit. Real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and ß-glucuronidase (GUS) staining showed that water deficit and abscisic acid (ABA) treatment reduced the expression of SlARF4. SlARF4 was expressed in the vascular bundles and guard cells of tomato stomata. Loss of function of SlARF4 (arf4) by using Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats/Cas 9 (CRISPR/Cas 9) technology enhanced plant resistance to water stress and rehydration ability. The arf4 mutant plants exhibited curly leaves and a thick stem. Malondialdehyde content was significantly lower in arf4 mutants than in wildtype plants under water stress; furthermore, arf4 mutants showed higher content of antioxidant substances, superoxide dismutase, actual photochemical efficiency of photosystem II (PSII), and catalase activities. Stomatal and vascular bundle morphology was changed in arf4 mutants. We identified 628 differentially expressed genes specifically expressed under water deficit in arf4 mutants; six of these genes, including ABA signaling pathway-related genes, were differentially expressed between the wildtype and arf4 mutants under water deficit and unlimited water supply. Auxin responsive element (AuxRE) elements were found in these genes' promoters indicating that SlARF4 participates in ABA signaling pathways by regulating the expression of SlABI5/ABF and SCL3, thereby influencing stomatal morphology and vascular bundle development and ultimately improving plant resistance to water deficit.

[Br3 ][SbF6 ] and [Br3 ][IrF6 ] were synthesized by interaction of BrF3 with Sb2 O3 or iridium metal, respectively. The former compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbcn (No. 60) with a=11.9269(7), b=11.5370(7), c=12.0640(6)â Å, V=1660.01(16)â Å3 , Z=8 at 100â K. The latter compound crystallizes in the triclinic space group P 1 â¾ (No. 2) with a=5.4686(5), b=7.6861(8), c=9.9830(9)â Å, α=85.320(8), ß=82.060(7), γ=78.466(7)°, V=406.56(7)â Å3 , Z=2 at 100â K. Both compounds contain the cation [Br3 ]+ , which has a bent structure and is coordinated by octahedron-like anions [MF6 ]- (M=Sb, Ir). Experimentally obtained cell parameters, bond lengths, and angles are confirmed by solid-state DFT calculations, which differ from the experimental values by less than 2 %. Relativistic effects on the structure of the tribromonium(1+) cation are studied computationally and found to be small. For the heaviest analogues containing At and Ts, however, pronounced relativistic effects are found, which lead to a linear structure of the polyhalogen cation.

Atomic oxygen on silver is the crucial active species in many catalytic oxidation processes, while it is a big challenge to explore the relationship between its activity and molecular-level structures in condensed phases. We carried out kinetic measurements of the gas phase reactions between AgnO- (n = 1-8) and CO, in which the oxygen atoms were predicted to be terminal ones in AgO- and Ag2O-, in quasi-Ag-O-Ag chains for Ag3O- and Ag4O-, and on the two-fold or three-fold bridging positions in AgnO- (n = 5-8). All these oxygen species are highly reactive even at a low temperature of 150 K. AgnO- (n = 1, 2, 5-8) with terminal or bridging oxygen generate free CO2, while the quasi-chains of AgnO- (n = 3, 4) generate chemically bonded CO2 with a structural formula of Agn-CO2-Ag2- (n = 1, 2). Density functional theory calculations well interpreted all experimental observations, showing that no extra excitation energies are needed to initiate all these reactions. The structurally dependent mechanisms and the formation of chemically bonded CO2 revealed in this work help us to catch a glimpse of some important processes and intermediates on real silver catalysts.

Conversion of NO to other nitrogen oxides is an elementary step in its catalytic removal processes. On coinage metal surfaces, two kinds of NO activation mechanisms have been well documented: the unimolecular dissociation of NO generates two adsorbed atoms, and the dissociation of an adsorbed (NO)2 unit generates an adsorbed O and a free N2O. In this work, we observed a disproportionation mechanism involving three NO molecules on Au6- at a very low temperature (150 K), in which an adsorbed (NO)2 reacts with a free NO forming an adsorbed NO2 and a free N2O. The density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicated that this disproportionation step is significantly exothermic and has a very low activation barrier. The charge distributions on the involved cluster complexes and the correlation between the activity and the electronic properties of Au6- indicate the important role of extra negative charge in all reaction steps. The disproportionation mechanism revealed in this work could possibly exist in the NO removal processes on real gold catalysts.

Allele frequencies for the 12 short tandem repeat loci of the Investigator Argus X-12 kit were obtained from 514 unrelated Taiwanese individuals (327 males and 187 females). Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium tests with samples demonstrated no significant deviation from expected values for all 12 loci (p > 0.05). The linkage disequilibrium for the 12 loci in the female samples was identical to what was observed in other Han Chinese populations, with only the DXS10103 and DXS10101 loci showing significant linkage disequilibrium after corrected by Bonferroni's correction for multiple testing (p < 0.05/66). No significant differences were observed by population pairwise genetic distance analysis between Taiwanese and other Han Chinese populations. When compared with other Asian, European, and African populations, however, significant differences were observed at more than one locus. The combined mean exclusion chance was 0.99999 in duo cases and 0.99999999 in trio cases. This study used mathematical logic inferred likelihood ratio calculation formulas for full-sister, half-sister from the same father, and paternal grandmother-granddaughter relationships. The results for these three real familial cases suggest that these 12 short tandem repeat loci may appropriate for forensic relationship testing.

The aim of this study was to explore the potential for a better recovery outcome for the Achilles tendon at an early healing stage when a mixed biomaterial-tenocyte injection is used. The experimental animals underwent single limb Achilles tendon transection followed by suturing repair. A solution of either hyaluronic acid with or without tenocytes or normal saline was randomly chosen to be injected around the injury site after surgery. To obtain the comprehensive recovery condition of the rats on different management protocols, the animals were evaluated histologically, mechanically, and functionally. A significant difference in the recovery condition was found in the injured tendon injected with the hyaluronic acid solution with tenocytes compared with the other groups. Tendon stiffness and the locomotion abilities of the rats with healing Achilles tendons were improved in the hyaluronic acid with tenocyte transplantation group. The acceleration of the inflammatory phase in rats with the hyaluronic acid with tenocyte injections might be the major reason for the better functional outcomes.

Stable nanoscale zero-valent iron (NZVI) particles have been developed to remediate chlorinated compounds. The degradation kinetics and efficiency of trichloroethylene (TCE) by a commercial stabilized NZVI with Na-acrylic copolymer (acNZVI) were investigated and compared with those by laboratory-synthesized NZVI and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC)-stabilized NZVI particles. Results show that the degradation of TCE by acNZVI was faster than that by NZVI and CMC-NZVI. Increase in temperature enhanced the degradation rate and efficiency of TCE with acNZVI. The activation energy of TCE degradation by acNZVI was estimated to be 23 kJ/mol. The degradation rate constants of TCE decreased from 0.064 to 0.026 min(-1) with decrease in initial pH from 9.03 to 4.23. Common groundwater anions including NO3(-), Cl(-), HCO3(-), and SO4(2-) inhibited slightly the degradation efficiencies of TCE by acNZVI. The Na-acrylic copolymer-stabilized NZVI, which exhibited high degradation kinetics and efficiency, could be a good remediation agent for chlorinated organic compounds.

The effect of demand uncertainty reduction (DUR) on supply chain management has received tremendous attention. From a financial perspective, studying the impact of DUR is equally significant. This study explores the relationship between DUR and private equity (PE) financing in retail enterprises within a supply chain, which comprises a dominant supplier and a subordinate retailer. This article establishes decision models for a retailer backed by PE under three market demand conditions: range, mean, and range with mean. The study further investigates the impact of partial demand uncertainty reduction (PDUR) on the retailer and PE through comparative analysis of these scenarios. To address incomplete market demand information during the decision-making process, the study employs the minimax regret criterion to construct and solve the model. An intriguing finding of this study is that contrary to intuition, PDUR not only fails to promote PE but also reduces the retailer's willingness to finance and decreases the asset size for both the retailer and PE. In addition, the better the growth potential for the retail enterprise, the more severe the negative impact brought about by PDUR. Moreover, the impact of PDUR on supplier and supply chain performance is two-fold. PDUR based on range information has a negative impact on the expected profit of the supplier and the supply chain, while PDUR based on mean information has a positive impact on their expected profit.

Diabetes mellitus, a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia, has been witnessed as a rapidly escalating worldwide health crisis. China currently had 140.9 million diabetic population in 2021, which was the largest globally. DM has witnessed a significant surge in the past few decades, leading to an alarming rise in the overall burden caused by this disease. To monitor the near real-time DM prevalence and the consumption of first-line anti-diabetic drugs, a wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) approach based on the back-calculation of metformin concentration was implemented in 237 cities in China. The quantitative analysis of metformin in wastewater was conducted by LC-MS/MS with satisfactory results of method validation. The average concentration of metformin in wastewater was 14.07 ± 13.16 µg/L, and the per capita consumption was 5.16 ± 2.08 mg/day/inh, ranging from 0.90 to 10.36 ± 4.63 mg/day/inh. The calculated metformin prevalence was found to be 0.52 % ± 0.28 %, and the final estimated DM prevalence was 11.33 % ± 4.99 %, which was nearly consistent with the result of the International Diabetes Federation survey of 9.98 %. The results suggested that metformin might be one of the suitable WBE biomarkers in DM monitoring and WBE strategy could potentially enable the estimation of DM prevalence in most of Chinese cities after reasonable correction of associated parameters.

Visible particle is an important issue in the biopharmaceutical industry, and it may occur across all the stages in the life cycle of biologics. Upon the occurrence of visible particles, it is often necessary to conduct chemical identification and root cause analysis to safeguard the safety and efficacy of the biotherapeutic products. In this article, we present a number of typical particles and relevant root cause analysis in the categories of extrinsic, intrinsic, and inherent particles that are commonly encountered in the biopharma industry. In particular, the optical images of particles obtained both in situ and after isolation are provided, along with spectral and elemental information. The particle identification was carried out with multiple microscopic and microspectroscopic techniques, including stereo optical microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared microscopy, confocal Raman microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Both commercial and in-house spectral databases were used for comparison and identification. In addition to particle identification, we placed significant efforts on the root cause analysis of the addressed particles with the intention to provide a relatively whole picture of the particle-related issues and practical references to particle mitigation for our peers in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Background: Observational studies have reported that Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is associated with a series of pregnancy and neonatal outcomes. However, the results have been inconsistent, and the causal effect is unknown. Methods: A two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study was performed using summary-level statistics for anti-H. pylori IgG levels from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children Cohort. Outcome data for pregnancy (miscarriage, preeclampsia-eclampsia, gestational diabetes mellitus, placental abruption, premature rupture of membranes, postpartum hemorrhage) and neonates (birthweight, gestational age, and preterm birth) were sourced from genome-wide association meta-analysis as well as the FinnGen and Early Growth Genetics Consortium. Causal estimates were calculated by five methods including inverse variance weighted (IVW). The heterogeneity of instrumental variables was quantified by Cochran's Q test, while sensitivity analyses were performed via MR-Egger, MR-PRESSO, and leave-one-out tests. Results: IVW estimates suggested that genetically predicted anti-H. pylori IgG levels were significantly associated with increased risks of preeclampsia-eclampsia (odds ratio [OR] = 1.12, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.01-1.24, P = 0.026) and premature rupture of membranes (OR = 1.17, 95% CI 1.05-1.30, P = 0.004). Similar results were obtained for preeclampsia-eclampsia from the MR-Egger method (OR = 1.32, 95% CI 1.06-1.64, P = 0.027) and for premature rupture of membranes from the weighted median method (OR = 1.22, 95% CI 1.06-1.41, P = 0.006). No significant causal effects were found for other outcomes. There was no obvious heterogeneity and horizontal pleiotropy across the MR analysis. Conclusion: Our two-sample MR study demonstrated a causal relationship of H. pylori infection with preeclampsia-eclampsia and premature rupture of membranes. The findings confirm the epidemiological evidence on the adverse impact of H. pylori in pregnancy. Further studies are needed to elucidate the pathophysiological mechanisms and assess the effectiveness of pre-pregnancy screening and preventive eradication.

OBJECTIVE: Both depression and insomnia are found to be more prevalent in cancer patients compared to the general population. This study compared the network structures of depression and insomnia among cancer patients versus cancer-free participants (controls hereafter). METHOD: The 8-item Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CESD-8) and the 4-item Jenkins Sleep Scale (JSS-4) were used to measure depressive and insomnia symptoms, respectively. Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to construct the control group using data from the Health and Retirement Study (HRS). In total, a sample consisting of 2216 cancer patients and 2216 controls was constructed. Central (influential) and bridge symptoms were estimated using the expected influence (EI) and bridge expected influence (bridge EI), respectively. Network stability was assessed using the case-dropping bootstrap method. RESULT: The prevalence of depression (CESD-8 total score ≥ 4) in cancer patients was significantly higher compared to the control group (28.56 % vs. 24.73 %; P = 0.004). Cancer patients also had more severe depressive symptoms relative to controls, but there was no significant group difference for insomnia symptoms. The network structures of depressive and insomnia symptoms were comparable between cancer patients and controls. "Felt sadness" (EI: 6.866 in cancer patients; EI: 5.861 in controls), "Felt unhappy" (EI: 6.371 in cancer patients; EI: 5.720 in controls) and "Felt depressed" (EI: 6.003 in cancer patients; EI: 5.880 in controls) emerged as the key central symptoms, and "Felt tired in morning" (bridge EI: 1.870 in cancer patients; EI: 1.266 in controls) and "Everything was an effort" (bridge EI: 1.046 in cancer patients; EI: 0.921 in controls) were the key bridge symptoms across both groups. CONCLUSION: Although cancer patients had more frequent and severe depressive symptoms compared to controls, no significant difference was observed in the network structure or strength of the depressive and insomnia symptoms. Consequently, psychosocial interventions for treating depression and insomnia in the general population could be equally applicable for cancer patients who experience depression and insomnia.

PURPOSE: A novel 18F-radiolabeled somatostatin analogue, [Al18F]NODA-MPAA-HTA, was synthesized and evaluated for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). [Al18F]NODA-MPAA-HTA was designed and synthesized by conjugating 18F nuclide with a modified KE108 peptide, a somatostatin analog with high affinity for all five subtypes of somatostatin receptors (SSTR 1-5), through coupling a bifunctional chelator (NODA) to target somatostatin receptor (SSTR) positive tumors. METHODS: The amino group of KE108 peptide, a SSTRs-targeting pharmacophore, was conjugated with the carboxyl group of NODA by a condensation reaction to obtain the labeling precursor of [Al18F]NODA-MPAA-HTA, in which its precursor was obtained through Fmoc solid-phase methods. A novel methodology for Al18F labeling of chelating agent-biomolecule conjugates was used to synthesize [Al18F]NODA-MPAA-HTA. In vitro stabilities of [Al18F]NODA-MPAA-HTA were evaluated by incubating it in saline or bovine serum for 2 h. Ex vivo biodistribution and in vivo imaging of [Al18F]NODA-MPAA-HTA were further investigated to evaluate its SSTRs targeting ability and feasibility for the diagnosis of NETs using PET imaging. RESULTS: [Al18F]NODA-MPAA-HTA was synthesized using a one-step 18F-AlF labeling procedure resulting in moderate radiochemical yield (60-80 %, non-decay corrected) and high radiochemical purity (>95 %). It exhibited good hydrophilicity and excellent stability in vitro, with a molar activity of 122 GBq/µmol. At 30 min and 60 min, the uptake of [Al18F] NODA-MPAA-HTA by HEK293-SSTR2 cells was 5.47 ± 0.97 %/105 cells and 12.11 ± 0.32 %/105 cells, respectively. The affinity of [Al18F]NODA-MPAA-HTA for SSTR2 was determined to be 8.77 ± 1.14 nM. In micro-PET imaging of HEK293-SSTR2 tumor-bearing mice, [Al18F]NODA-MPAA-HTA showed high tumor uptake of radioactivity and a high tumor-to-muscle ratio. Biodistribution results confirmed that radioactivity uptake in the tumor was significantly higher than that in the muscle by more than five-fold (P<0.001). Furthermore, the relatively low bone uptake of [Al18F]NODA-MPAA-HTA suggested that defluorination did not occur in vivo. These preliminary results provide experimental evidence for further study of Al18F-labeled somatostatin analogues as tumor probes for PET imaging of NETs. CONCLUSION: Fluorine-18 is widely used as a radionuclide for the production of radiopharmaceuticals for positron emission tomography (PET). Due to its short half-life (T1/2,109.8 min), its ease of production will facilitate the widespread dissemination of this radiopharmaceutical. A high-quality [Al18F]NODA-MPAA-HTA was synthesized with satisfactory yield. This radiopharmaceutical demonstrated higher tumor uptake and better tumor-to-muscle contrast, resulting to excellent image quality. These findings suggest that the novel 18F-labeled somatostatin analogue, [Al18F]NODA-MPAA-HTA, is a promising tool for PET imaging of NETs.

BACKGROUND: Using network analysis, the interactions between mental health problems at the symptom level can be explored in depth. This study examined the network structure of depressive and anxiety symptoms and suicidality among mental health professionals after the end of China's Dynamic Zero-COVID Policy. METHODS: A total of 10,647 mental health professionals were recruited nationwide from January to February 2023. Depression and anxiety were assessed using the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), respectively, while suicidality was defined by a 'yes' response to any of the standard questions regarding suicidal ideation (SI), suicide plan (SP) and suicide attempt (SA). Expected Influence (EI) and Bridge Expected Influence (bEI) were used as centrality indices in the symptom network to characterize the structure of the symptoms. RESULTS: The prevalence of depression, anxiety, and suicidality were 45.99 %, 28.40 %, and 7.71 %, respectively. The network analysis identified GAD5 ("Restlessness") as the most central symptom, followed by PHQ4 ("Fatigue") and GAD7 ("Feeling afraid"). Additionally, PHQ6 ("Guilt"), GAD5 ("Restlessness"), and PHQ8 ("Motor disturbance") were bridge nodes linking depressive and anxiety symptoms with suicidality. The flow network indicated that the strongest connections of S ("Suicidality") was with PHQ6 ("Guilt"), GAD7 ("Feeling afraid"), and PHQ2 ("Sad mood"). CONCLUSIONS: Depression, anxiety, and suicidality among mental health professionals were highly prevalent after China's Dynamic Zero-COVID Policy ended. Effective measures should target central and bridge symptoms identified in this network model to address the mental health problems in those at-risk.

BACKGROUND: Exploring networks of mental and behavioral problems in children and adolescents may identify differences between one-child and multi-child families. This study compared the network structures of mental and behavioral problems in children and adolescents in one-child families versus multi-child families based on a nationwide survey. METHODS: Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to match children and adolescents from one-child families with those from multi-child families. Mental and behavioral problems were assessed using the Achenbach's Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) with eight syndromal subscales. In the network analysis, strength centrality index was used to estimate central symptoms, and case-dropping bootstrap method was used to assess network stability. RESULTS: The study included 39,648 children and adolescents (19,824 from one-child families and 19,824 from multi-child families). Children and adolescents from multi-child families exhibited different network structure and higher global strength compared to those from one-child families. In one-child families, the most central symptoms were "Social problems", "Anxious/depressed" and "Withdrawn/depressed", while in multi-child families, the most central symptoms were "Social problems", "Rule-breaking behavior" and "Anxious/depressed". CONCLUSION: Differences in mental and behavioral problems among children and adolescents between one-child and multi-child families were found. To address these problems, interventions targeting "Social problems" and "Anxious/depressed" symptoms should be developed for children and adolescents in both one-child and multi-child families, while other interventions targeting "Withdrawn/depressed" and "Rule-breaking behavior" symptoms could be useful for those in one-child and multi-child families, respectively.
