RESUMO

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs), with the features of flexible structure regulation and easy introduction of functional groups, have aroused broad interest in the field of photocatalysis. However, due to the low light absorption intensity, low photoelectron conversion efficiency, and lack of suitable active sites, it remains a great challenge to achieve efficient photocatalytic aerobic oxidation reactions. Herein, based on reticular chemistry, we rationally designed a series of three-motif molecular junction type COFs, which formed dual photosensitizer coupled redox molecular junctions containing multifunctional COF photocatalysts. Significantly, due to the strong light adsorption ability of dual photosensitizer units and integrated oxidation and reduction features, the PY-BT COF exhibited the highest activity for photocatalytic aerobic oxidation. Especially, it achieved a photocatalytic benzylamine conversion efficiency of 99.9% in 2.5 h, which is much higher than that of the two-motif molecular junctions with only one photosensitizer or redox unit lacking COFs. The mechanism of selective aerobic oxidation was studied through comprehensive experiments and density functional theory calculations. The results showed that the photoinduced electron transfer occurred from PY and then through triphenylamine to BT. Furthermore, the thermodynamics energy for benzylamine oxidation on PY-BT COF was much lower than that for others, which confirmed the synergistic effect of dual photosensitizer coupled redox molecular junction COFs. This work provided a new strategy for the design of functional COFs with three-motif molecular junctions and also represented a new insight into the multifunctional COFs for organic catalytic reactions.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to explore the longitudinal associations of rumination with suicidal ideation and suicide attempts in individuals with major depressive disorder (MDD). METHODS: Participants were derived from the Depression Cohort in China study (DCC). Those who completed at least one follow-up visit during the 12 months were included in the analysis. Dimensions of rumination including brooding and reflection were each measured using five items of the Ruminative Responses Scale. Suicidal ideation was assessed using the Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation. Suicide attempts were also assessed and all were analyzed with generalized estimating equations. RESULTS: Our final sample included 532 participants aged 18 to 59 years (mean [SD], 26.91 [6.94] years) consisting of 148 (27.8%) males and 384 (72.2%) females. After adjusting for temporal trend and potential confounders, individuals with higher levels of reflection were more likely to report suicidal ideation (AOR =1.11, 95% CI:1.01-1.22). However, no statistically significant association was found between brooding and suicidal ideation (AOR =1.06, 95% CI:0.96-1.17). Conversely, individuals with higher levels of brooding were more likely to report suicide attempts (AOR =1.13, 95% CI:1.02-1.24), while no statistically significant association was observed between reflection and suicide attempts (AOR =0.91, 95% CI:0.82-1.01). CONCLUSION: Rumination reflects a disturbance in cognitive emotional processing and manifests in different dimensions. Our findings suggest that high levels of reflection and brooding may be associated with a higher likelihood of having suicidal ideation and suicide attempts, respectively. However, it should be interpreted with caution, given that effect sizes are small.

RESUMO

Sensors, the underlying technology that supports the Internet of Things, are undergoing multi-disciplinary integration development to constantly improve the efficiency of human production and life. Simultaneously, the application scenarios in emerging fields such as medical diagnosis, environmental monitoring and industrial safety put forward higher requirements for sensing capabilities. Over the last decade, single-atom catalysts (SACs) have attracted tremendous attention in fields such as environment and energy due to their high atom utilization efficiencies, controllable active sites, tailorable coordination environments and structural/chemical stability. These extraordinary characteristics extend the sensitivity and selectivity of sensors beyond their current limitations. Here, we start with the working principles of SAC-based sensors, and summarize the relationship between sensor performance and intrinsic properties of SACs, followed by an overview of the design strategy development. We then review the recent advances in SAC-based sensors in different fields and highlight the future opportunities and challenges in their exciting applications.

BACKGROUND: Thread-lifting (TL) is a minimally-invasive technique for facial rejuvenation, whereas liposuction is commonly used for facial contouring. This retrospective cohort study aims to introduce and evaluate a novel technique that combines liposuction and thread-lifting for mid-lower facial rejuvenation. METHODS: Consecutive patients who underwent TL for mid-lower facial rejuvenation from May 2016 to May 2021 were divided into thread-lifting group (TL group) or thread-lifting plus liposuction group (TLL group) according to whether liposuction was performed adjunctively. The co-primary outcomes were the changes between the preoperative and 6-month postoperative Wrinkle Severity Rating Scale (WSRS) and Facial Aging Evaluation Scale (FAES). RESULTS: A total of 185 patients (184 females) with an average age of 34.5±5.5 years were included. There were no significant differences in patients' age, number of threads, and preoperative WSRS and FAES between the two groups. The TLL group (n = 128) had significantly lower postoperative WSRS (1.5±0.6 vs. 1.8±0.8, p<0.001) and FAES (2.5±1.4 vs. 3.8±2.1, p<0.001) than the TL group (n = 57). The decrease in WSRS (0.8±0.6 vs. 0.2±0.7, p<0.001) and FAES (2.7±1.3 vs. 1.6±1.6, p<0.001) were greater in the TLL group. Only 3.8% patients experienced slight side effects and totally recovered. CONCLUSIONS: The combination of TL and liposuction is an effective and safe technique for simultaneous contour improvement and facial rejuvenation in middle-aged East Asian females. The ovarian germline stem cells(OGSCs) cultured in the optimized culture system were used as the research object to observe the effect of Tripterygium glycosides(TG) on OGSCs and explore the mechanism of reproductive toxicity by the Notch signaling pathway. Cell counting kit-8(CCK-8) was used to observe the viability level of OGSCs in mice cultured in vitro by TG of 3.75, 7.5, and 15 µg·mL~(-1). Immunofluorescence technology and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) were used to detect the protein and gene expression level of OGSCs marker mouse vasa homologue(MVH) and octamer-binding transcription factor 4(Oct4) by TG of 3.75 µg·mL~(-1). RT-PCR detected the gene expression of neurogenic locus Notch homolog protein 1(Notch1), Hes family BHLH transcription factor 1(Hes1), and jagged canonical Notch ligand 1(Jagged1). The RNA was extracted for transcriptome analysis to analyze the mechanism of action of TG intervention on OGSCs. 3.75 µg·mL~(-1) of TG was combined with 40 ng·mL~(-1) Notch signaling pathway γ-secretagocin agonist jagged canonical notch ligand(Jagged) for administration. CCK-8 was used to detect the viability level of OGSCs. Double immunofluorescence technology was used to detect the protein co-expression of MVH with Hes1, Notch1, and Jagged1. The results showed that compared with the blank group, the TG administration group significantly inhibited the activity of OGSCs(P<0.01 or P<0.001). It could reduce the protein and gene expression of OGSC markers, namely MVH and Oct4(P<0.05, P<0.01, or P<0.001). It could significantly inhibit the gene expression of Notch1, Hes1, and Jagged1(P<0.001). Transcriptomic analysis showed that TG affected the growth and proliferation of OGSCs by intervening Jagged1, a ligand associated with the Notch signaling pathway. The experimental results showed that the combination of Notch signaling pathway γ-secretagorein agonist Jagged could significantly alleviate the decrease in OGSC viability induced by TG(P<0.001) and significantly increased the OGSC viability compared with the TG group(P<0.001). It also could significantly increase the co-expression of MVH/Jagged1, MVH/Hes1, and MVH/Notch1 proteins(P<0.01 or P<0.001). It suggested that TG play the role of γ-secretagorease inhibitors by downregulating the OGSC markers including MVH and Oct4 and Notch signaling pathway molecules such as Notch1, Hes1, and Jagged1, participate in the OGSC pathway, and mediate reproductive toxicity caused by the Notch signaling pathway.

Ischemic heart disease (IHD) is the leading cause of death on a global scale. Despite significant advances in the reperfusion treatment of acute myocardial infarction, there is still a significant early mortality rate among the elderly, as angioplasty-achieved reperfusion can exacerbate myocardial damage, leading to severe ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury and induce fatal arrhythmias. Mitochondria are a key mediator of ischemic insults; a transient blockade of the electron transport chain (ETC) at complex I during reperfusion can reduce myocardial infarct caused by ischemic insults. The reversible, transient modulation of complex I during early reperfusion is limited by the available of clinically tractable agents. We employed the novel use of acute, high dose metformin to modulate complex I activity during early reperfusion to decrease cardiac injury in the high-risk aged heart. Young (3-6 months) and aged (22-24 months) male and female C57BL/6 J mice were subjected to in vivo regional ischemia for 45 min, followed by metformin (2 mM, i. v.) injection 5 min prior to reperfusion for 24 h. The cardiac functions were measured with echocardiography. A Seahorse XF24 Analyzer was used to ascertain mitochondrial function. Cardiomyocyte sarcomere shortening and calcium transients were measured using the IonOptix Calcium and Contractility System. The results demonstrated that administration of acute, high dose metformin at the onset of reperfusion significantly limited cardiac damage and rescued cardiac dysfunction caused by I/R in both young and aged mice. Importantly, metformin treatment improves contractile functions of isolated cardiomyocytes and maintains mitochondrial integrity under I/R stress conditions. Thus, acute metformin administration at the onset of reperfusion has potential as a mitochondrial-based therapeutic to mitigate reperfusion injury and reduce infarct size in the elderly heart attack patient who remains at greater mortality risk despite reperfusion alone.

The production of large-area twisted bilayer graphene (TBG) with controllable angles is a prerequisite for proceeding with its massive applications. However, most of the prevailing strategies to fabricate twisted bilayers face great challenges, where the transfer methods are easily stuck by interfacial contamination, and direct growth methods lack the flexibility in twist-angle design. Here we develop an effective strategy to grow centimetre-scale TBG with arbitrary twist angles (accuracy, <1.0°). The success in accurate angle control is realized by an angle replication from two prerotated single-crystal Cu(111) foils to form a Cu/TBG/Cu sandwich structure, from which the TBG can be isolated by a custom-developed equipotential surface etching process. The accuracy and consistency of the twist angles are unambiguously illustrated by comprehensive characterization techniques, namely, optical spectroscopy, electron microscopy, photoemission spectroscopy and photocurrent spectroscopy. Our work opens an accessible avenue for the designed growth of large-scale two-dimensional twisted bilayers and thus lays the material foundation for the future applications of twistronics at the integration level.

The seasonal human coronaviruses (HCoVs) have zoonotic origins, repeated infections, and global transmission. The objectives of this study are to elaborate the epidemiological and evolutionary characteristics of HCoVs from patients with acute respiratory illness. We conducted a multicenter surveillance at 36 sentinel hospitals of Beijing Metropolis, China, during 2016-2019. Patients with influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) were included, and submitted respiratory samples for screening HCoVs by multiplex real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction assays. All the positive samples were used for metatranscriptomic sequencing to get whole genomes of HCoVs for genetical and evolutionary analyses. Totally, 321 of 15 677 patients with ILI or SARI were found to be positive for HCoVs, with an infection rate of 2.0% (95% confidence interval, 1.8%-2.3%). HCoV-229E, HCoV-NL63, HCoV-OC43, and HCoV-HKU1 infections accounted for 18.7%, 38.3%, 40.5%, and 2.5%, respectively. In comparison to ILI cases, SARI cases were significantly older, more likely caused by HCoV-229E and HCoV-OC43, and more often co-infected with other respiratory pathogens. A total of 179 full genome sequences of HCoVs were obtained from 321 positive patients. The phylogenetical analyses revealed that HCoV-229E, HCoV-NL63 and HCoV-OC43 continuously yielded novel lineages, respectively. The nonsynonymous to synonymous ratio of all key genes in each HCoV was less than one, indicating that all four HCoVs were under negative selection pressure. Multiple substitution modes were observed in spike glycoprotein among the four HCoVs. Our findings highlight the importance of enhancing surveillance on HCoVs, and imply that more variants might occur in the future.

BACKGROUND: Recent evidence highlights the potential of axonal degeneration as a biomarker for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) detection. However, the diagnostic potential of peripheral nerve axon changes in ALS remains unclear. PURPOSE: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of quantitative MRI of the brachial plexus and limb-girdle muscles (LGMs) in patients with upper extremity onset of ALS. STUDY TYPE: Retrospective. POPULATION: 47 patients with upper extremity onset of ALS and 20 healthy volunteers. FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE: 3-T, three-dimensional sampling perfection with application-optimized contrasts using different flip angle evolutions with short-tau inversion recovery sequences, T2-weighted turbo spin-echo Dixon sequence. ASSESSMENT: The cross-sectional area (CSA) and nerve-muscle T2 signal intensity ratio (nT2) of the bilateral brachial plexus as well as the CSA and fat fraction (FF) of the bilateral LGMs were assessed by two radiologists. Disease severity and clinical stage of ALS patients were assessed by two neurologists. STATISTICAL TESTS: Student's t-test, Wilcoxon rank-sum test, binary logistic regression, interclass correlation coefficient, receiver operating characteristic analysis, and correlation analysis were performed for MRI quantitative metrics and clinical variables. Significance level: P < 0.05. RESULTS: In the affected limbs of patients with ALS, the CSA of the brachial plexus roots, trunks, and cords and the nT2 values of the brachial plexus trunks were significantly smaller than in the healthy controls. In the LGMs, the affected limbs of ALS showed significantly smaller CSA and higher FF than controls. The model containing parameters such as brachial plexus trunk CSA, subscapularis CSA, infraspinatus CSA, and subscapularis FF had excellent diagnostic efficacy for ALS. Additionally, increased subscapularis FF and supraspinatus FF were correlated with disease severity, and subscapularis CSA was negatively correlated with the clinical stage. DATA CONCLUSION: Brachial plexus thinning, LGM atrophy, and fatty infiltration might serve as MRI-derived biomarkers for ALS with upper extremity onset. Background: The clinical outcomes of low-grade glioma (LGG) are associated with T cell infiltration, but the specific contribution of heterogeneous T cell types remains unclear. Method: To study the different functions of T cells in LGG, we mapped the single-cell RNA sequencing results of 10 LGG samples to obtain T cell marker genes. In addition, bulk RNA data of 975 LGG samples were collected for model construction. Algorithms such as TIMER, CIBERSORT, QUANTISEQ, MCPCOUTER, XCELL, and EPIC were used to depict the tumor microenvironment landscape. Subsequently, three immunotherapy cohorts, PRJEB23709, GSE78820, and IMvigor210, were used to explore the efficacy of immunotherapy. Results: The Human Primary Cell Atlas was used as a reference dataset to identify each cell cluster; a total of 15 cell clusters were defined and cells in cluster 12 were defined as T cells. According to the distribution of T cell subsets (CD4+ T cell, CD8+ T cell, Naïve T cell, and Treg cell), we selected the differentially expressed genes. Among the CD4+ T cell subsets, we screened 3 T cell-related genes, and the rest were 28, 4, and 13, respectively. Subsequently, according to the T cell marker genes, we screened six genes for constructing the model, namely, RTN1, HERPUD1, MX1, SEC61G, HOPX, and CHI3L1. The ROC curve showed that the predictive ability of the prognostic model for 1, 3, and 5 years was 0.881, 0.817, and 0.749 in the TCGA cohort, respectively. In addition, we found that risk scores were positively correlated with immune infiltration and immune checkpoints. To this end, we obtained three immunotherapy cohorts to verify their predictive ability of immunotherapy effects and found that high-risk patients had better clinical effects of immunotherapy. Conclusion: This single-cell RNA sequencing combined with bulk RNA sequencing may elucidate the composition of the tumor microenvironment and pave the way for the treatment of low-grade gliomas.

BACKGROUND: To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of microplasma radiofrequency technology combined with glucocorticoid injection in the treatment of hypertrophic scarring after early deep burns and scalding. METHODS: A total of 150 patients with hypertrophic scars after early deep burns from June 2018 to June 2021 were randomly divided into 3 groups, with 50 cases in each group. The patients were treated with compound betamethasone injection (Group A), microplasma radiofrequency technique (Group B), and compound betamethasone injection combined with microplasma radiofrequency technology (Group C). Each course of treatment included 5 standard treatments, and they were performed 6 weeks apart. Each patient was analyzed using the Vancouver scar scale and visual analogy scale after each treatment. The results were compared over time and across groups using repeated measurement analysis of variance. RESULTS: A total of 138 patients in these 3 groups completed this study. As treatment continued, the Vancouver scar scale value of Group C decreased more rapidly than that of Group A and Group B, and the difference was statistically significant ( P <0.05). In the improvement of scar pain and itching, there was little difference between Group C and Group A ( P >0.05), but both were better than Group B, and the difference was statistically significant ( P <0.05). Regarding the incidence of adverse reactions, there was little difference between Group C and Group B ( P >0.05), but the incidence of adverse reactions was lower than that of Group A, and the difference was statistically significant ( P <0.05). CONCLUSION: Microplasma radiofrequency combined with glucocorticoid injection in the treatment of hypertrophic scarring after early deep burns is effective, safe, and has a low incidence of adverse reactions, and it merits clinical promotion.

It has been known for close to 100 years that the metabolism of cancer cells is altered and different than that of healthy cells in the body. On that basis, we have developed an entirely novel approach to managing cancer, termed Targeted Nutrients Deprivation (TND). TND employs a formulated diet depleted of multiple non-essential amino acids (NEAAs) that are required by tumor cells but not by normal cells. Cancer cells specifically require those NEAAs due to their heightened and rewired metabolism. We demonstrated that our first proprietary formulated TND diet-FTN203-significantly reduced the growth of multiple human tumor xenografts in mouse. In combination with chemotherapy and immunotherapy, FTN203 further enhanced therapeutic efficacy. Reliance on FTN203 as the sole nutrition source was shown to be safe without causing detrimental body-weight loss or internal organ damage. BACKGROUND: Various dermal fillers are often used for nasolabial groove filling. High-frequency ultrasonography might be a valuable tool for assessing facial filler materials. METHODS: The facial ultrasound images of plastic surgery hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from November 2014 to November 2021 were analyzed and judged. RESULTS: A total of 94 patients who underwent high-frequency ultrasound with a nasolabial groove filler were included in the study. Hyaluronic acid was detected in 35 cases, polyacrylamide in 34 cases, lipofilling in 10 cases, silicon oil in seven cases, calcium hydroxyapatite in six cases, and silicone implant in two cases. The ultrasonic performance of hyaluronic acid was divided into four types: aggregation, diffusion, mixed pattern, and associated infection; of polyacrylamide was divided into five types: aggregation and inclusion, aggregation and non-inclusion, diffusion, mixed pattern, and associated infection; and of lipofilling was divided into four types: aggregation, diffusion, fat liquefaction necrosis, and cystic change. Echo intensity, echo characteristics, boundary clarity, fluidity, and blood flow signals can be used as the basis for identifying filler materials. CONCLUSION: High-frequency ultrasound has an identification significance for the filling materials in the area of nasolabial groove. BACKGROUND: In recent years, the use of mental injectable soft tissue fillers is popular. However, some fillers are difficult to distinguish from pathological tissue, and some non-absorbable fillers need to be removed in time. Therefore, identification of different fillers is important. In this study, we summarized the ultrasonic manifestations of different mental injectable soft tissue fillers to provide references for clinical practice. METHODS: We screened the mental ultrasound images from November 2014 to November 2021 in the Plastic Surgery Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, identified different filling injection materials, and summarized and classified the ultrasonic characteristics of each filling material. RESULTS: A total of 244 cases were included, involving 62 cases of hyaluronic acid, 126 cases of polyacrylamide hydrogel, 19 cases of growth factor, 16 cases of calcium hydroxyapatite, 15 cases of silicone oil and 6 cases of fat. The ultrasonic manifestation of hyaluronic acid was anechoic area, which could be divided into six types according to the distribution characteristics. The ultrasonography of polyacrylamide hydrogel showed fine punctate echo, which could be divided into nine types. The ultrasonographic appearance of growth factor was similar to the echo of the surrounding tissue, and the boundary was not clear. Calcium hydroxyapatite was characterized by uneven hyperechoic area, which was spread in the tissue space, with unclear boundary with surrounding tissues. Sonographic patterns of silicone oil were hyperechoic and cloudy on high-frequency ultrasound. The deep tissue and periosteum layer were not clear. Transplanted fat showed isoechoic area or uneven low-echo area, with clear boundary and peripheral adipose tissue acoustic enhancement. CONCLUSIONS: High-frequency ultrasound is safe and reliable for identification and typing of chin filling injection materials, which can be applied in clinical practice. Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the pathogenic agent leading to COVID-19. Due to high speed of transmission and mutation rates, universal diagnosis and appropriate prevention are still urgently needed. The nucleocapsid protein of SARS-CoV-2 is considered more conserved than spike proteins and is abundant during the virus' life cycle, making it suitable for diagnostic applications. Here, we designed and developed a fluorescent immunochromatography assay (FICA) for the rapid detection of SARS-CoV-2-specific antibodies using ZnCdSe/ZnS QDs-conjugated nucleocapsid (N) proteins as probes. The nucleocapsid protein was expressed in E.coli and purified via Ni-NTA affinity chromatography with considerable concentration (0.762 mg/mL) and a purity of more than 90%, which could bind to specific antibodies and the complex could be captured by Staphylococcal protein A (SPA) with fluorescence displayed. After the optimization of coupling and detecting conditions, the limit of detection was determined to be 1:1.024 × 105 with an IgG concentration of 48.84 ng/mL with good specificity shown to antibodies against other zoonotic coronaviruses and respiratory infection-related viruses (n = 5). The universal fluorescent immunochromatography assay simplified operation processes in one step, which could be used for the point of care detection of SARS-CoV-2-specific antibodies. Moreover, it was also considered as an efficient tool for the serological screening of potential susceptible animals and for monitoring the expansion of virus host ranges.

BACKGROUND: ALS patients have changed peripheral immunity. It is unknown whether peripheral immunity is related to cognitive dysfunction in ALS patients. OBJECTIVE: To explore the relationship between the peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets and the cognitive status in ALS patients. METHODS: Among 81 ALS patients, we compared the demographic, clinical, and peripheral levels of total T lymphocyte, CD4+ T lymphocyte, CD8+ T lymphocyte, B lymphocyte, and NK cell between those with cognitive impairment (ALS-ci) and those without (ALS-nci). The cognitive status was evaluated via the Chinese version of the Edinburgh cognitive and behavioral screen (ECAS). Significant predictors of cognitive impairment in univariate logistic regression analysis were further examined using multivariate logistic regression analysis. RESULTS: 39.5% of all ALS patients had cognitive impairment. The ALS-ci group had shorter education time, older age at both symptom onset and testing, longer disease duration, and lower levels of peripheral total, CD4+, and CD8+ T lymphocyte and B lymphocyte than the ALS-nci group. Frequency of behavioral impairment did not differ between the two groups. While parameters with significant differences identified by group comparison were also significant predictors of cognitive impairment in univariate logistic regression analysis except the level of B lymphocyte, only older age at testing, education time less than 9 years, and lower level of CD4+ T lymphocyte remained significant in multivariate logistic regression analysis. The predictive model combining these three parameters had an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve value of 0.842 with a sensitivity of 90.6% and a specificity of 67.3%. CONCLUSION: In Chinese ALS patients, blood CD4+ T lymphocyte might help evaluate cognitive impairment along with age and education level.

BACKGROUND: The use of Oxford uni-compartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) has rapidly increased worldwide,however,the relevance of younger patients for postoperative function after Oxford UKA remains unclear. The main purpose of our study is to clarify the effectivemess of Oxford UKA in the younger Chinese patients with anteromedial osteoarthritis (AMOA). METHODS: We retrospectively enrolled 252 consecutive patients who underwent Oxford UKA for AMOA with a minimum follow-up of 5 years between March 2013 and December 2016. The patients were divided into the younger (≤60 years) and elderly (> 60 years) age groups. The demographic data and surgery variables were recorded and compared. Patient satisfaction grade, range of motion (ROM), Oxford knee score (OKS), Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) score, Western Ontario and McMaster (WOMAC) Universities Osteoarthritis Index score and postoperative complications were recorded. The 5-year survival of the implants were also compared with TKA revision as the endpoint. RESULTS: A total of 252 consecutive patients were recruited, including 96 aged 60 years or less and 156 aged over 60 years. The mean follow-up duration in the younger and elderly groups were 73.6 months (SD,standard deviation, 4.1) and 74.7 months (SD 6.2) respectively. Patient satisfaction rate was high in both groups (P = 0.805). Furthermore, no significant differences were observed in postoperative ROM(P = 0.299), OKS(P = 0.117), HSS(P = 0.357) and WOMAC scores(P = 0.151) between the younger and elderly groups (P>0.05). However, the incidence of joint stiffness (P = 0.033) and delayed wound dehiscence (P = 0.026) were significantly different between both groups. Five-year implant survival without revision were also similar in both groups (96.9% vs 97.4%, P = 0.871), and that for the entire cohort was 97.2% (95% CI 95.4-99.6). CONCLUSION: Oxford UKA for AMOA demonstrated favorable results in younger patients aged ≤60 years at a minimum 5-year follow-up in terms of patient satisfaction, functional outcomes, implant survival and postoperative complications. Therefore, younger patients might not be considered as an absolute contraindication to Oxford UKA.

AIM: To systematically evaluate the role of teamwork in implicit rationing care and how to improve teamwork. BACKGROUND: The implicit rationing of nursing leads to adverse effects for both patients and nurses. Therefore, how to reduce it has attracted increasing research attention. How teamwork may be an important factor in reducing implicit rationing care has become a focus of research. METHODS: Data between May 2000 and May 2020 were collected from five databases. The study was guided by the framework of a mixed studies review. RESULTS: Seventeen studies were chosen for review regarding efficient teamwork to reduce implicit rationing care. The following seven subthemes with positive effects that improve teamwork and reduce implicit rationing care were formed: (a) improving knowledge and skills; (b) promoting effective communication; (c) building mutual trust; (d) reducing turnover intention; (e) reasonable staffing; (f) division of responsibilities; and (g) cultivating team consciousness. CONCLUSIONS: Teamwork can decrease implicit care and is influenced by many factors, but the intervention is singular. In the future, teamwork can be further improved to reduce implicit care. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING MANAGEMENT: With more intervention research in the future, leadership and team-oriented roles can be used to complete all the care needed.

In situ monitoring of hydrogen peroxide (H2 O2 ) during its production process is needed. Here, an electrochemical H2 O2 sensor with a wide linear current response range (concentration: 5 × 10-8 to 5 × 10-2 m), a low detection limit (32.4 × 10-9 m), and a high sensitivity (568.47 µA mm-1 cm-2 ) is developed. The electrocatalyst of the sensor consists of cobalt nanoparticles and atomic Co-Nx moieties anchored on nitrogen doped carbon nanotube arrays (Co-N/CNT), which is obtained through the pyrolysis of the sandwich-like urea@ZIF-67 complex. More cobalt nanoparticles and atomic Co-Nx as active sites are exposed during pyrolysis, contributing to higher electrocatalytic activity. Moreover, a portable screen-printed electrode sensor is constructed and demonstrated for rapidly detecting (cost ≈40 s) H2 O2 produced in microbial fuel cells with only 50 µL solution. Both the synthesis strategy and sensor design can be applied to other energy and environmental fields.

AIMS: To systematically identify, evaluate and synthesize the available qualitative evidence on the mealtime care experiences of informal caregivers of people with dementia. DESIGN: A qualitative evidence synthesis using the Thomas and Harden method. DATA SOURCES: All qualitative and mixed-method studies in English and Chinese were retrieved from PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane, CINAHL, CNKI, WanFang, and Vip from the inception of each database until November 2019. REVIEW METHODS: Two researchers independently selected the studies using qualitative assessment and review instruments for quality evaluation and thematic synthesis for the data analysis. RESULTS: Ten studies were chosen for this review. The analytical themes identified included injecting a new element, moving forward in the challenge and external supports facilitating better coping. CONCLUSION: Community nurses should effectively use resources to provide food-related information and services to families with dementia. Future research should combine informal caregiver experiences and clinical skills to develop high-quality interventions to improve the quality of mealtimes. IMPACT: The findings established that informal caregivers experienced not only changes in their roles and concerns but also emotional changes. Informal caregivers develop different coping strategies to adapt to feeding issues without professional support. Although informal caregivers attach great importance to mealtimes and nutrition issues, they experience a lack of information and support services. Community nurses can provide more economical, practical, and accessible information resources based on informal caregivers' perceptions of mealtime care. Future interventions need to be more aware of the importance of dyad or family-centred support services.
