RESUMO

The solid-state electrolyte interface (SEI) between the solid-state polymer electrolyte and the lithium metal anode dramatically affects the overall battery performance. Increasing the content of lithium fluoride (LiF) in SEI can help the uniform deposition of lithium and inhibit the growth of lithium dendrites, thus improving the cycle stability performance of lithium batteries. Currently, most methods of constructing LiF SEI involve decomposing the lithium salt by the polar groups of the filler. However, there is a lack of research reports on how to affect the SEI layer of Li-ion batteries by increasing the charge transfer number. In this study, a porous organic polymer with "charge storage" properties was prepared and doped into a polymer composite solid electrolyte to study the effect of sufficient charge transfer on the decomposition of lithium salts. The results show in contrast to porphyrins, the unique structure of POF allows for charge transfer between each individual porphyrin. Therefore, during TFSI- decomposition to the formation of LiF, TFSI- can obtain sufficient charge, thereby promoting the break of C-F and forming the LiF-rich SEI. Compared with single porphyrin (0.423 e-), POF provides 2.7 times more charge transfer to LiTFSI (1.147 e-). The experimental results show that Li//Li symmetric batteries equipped with PEO-POF can be operated stably for more than 2700 h at 60 °C. Even the Li//Li (45 µm) symmetric cells are stable for more than 1100 h at 0.1 mA cm-1. In addition, LiFePO4//PEO-POF//Li batteries have excellent cycling performance at 2 C (80 % capacity retention after 750 cycles). Even LiFePO4//PEO-POF//Li (45 µm) cells have excellent cycling performance at 1 C (96 % capacity retention after 300 cycles). Even when the PEO-base is replaced with a PEG-base and a PVDF-base, the performance of the cell is still significantly improved. Therefore, we believe that the concept of charge transfer offers a novel perspective for the preparation of high-performance assemblies.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Facial keloids commonly occur in young patients. Multiple keloid masses often converge into a large lesion on the face, representing a significant obstacle to keloid mass excision and reconstruction. We describe a new surgical method that excises the keloid mass and resurfaces the wound by saving the keloid skin as a skin flap during facial keloid treatment. METHODS: Forty-five patients with facial keloids were treated in our department between January 2013 and January 2016. Multiple incisions were made along the facial esthetic line on the keloid mass. The keloid skin was dissected and elevated as a skin flap with one or two pedicles. The scar tissue in the keloid was then removed through the incision. The wound was covered with the preserved keloid skin flap and closed without tension. Radiotherapy and hyperbaric oxygen were applied after surgery. Patients underwent follow-up examinations 6 and 12 months after surgery. RESULTS: Of the 45 total patients, 32 patients were cured and seven patients were partially cured. The efficacy rate was 88.9%, and 38 patients (84.4%) were satisfied with the esthetic result. CONCLUSION: We describe an efficacious and esthetically satisfactory surgical method for managing facial keloids by preserving the keloid skin as a skin flap. RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy of cross vertical mattress suturing with basilar tightening during the correction of inverted nipple. METHODS: Thirty patients with inverted nipples underwent cross vertical mattress suturing with basilar tightening. The postoperative results were recorded. RESULTS: All the patients were followed up for 6 months to 2 years. The results of 28 cases were satisfactory, and there was no recurrence. Two patients relapsed, and a mild depression was formed. They were satisfied with the results after the second correction. CONCLUSION: The method of cross vertical mattress suturing with basilar tightening has been applied to treat inverted nipple, with minimal trauma, which provides a reliable guarantee for a long-term effect. It is worthy to be widely used in clinical practice. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE IV: This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. RESUMO

Background: Depression, a serious public health disorder, is increasingly prevalent worldwide. An association between alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and neurological disorders has been reported. However, data on ALP and depression risk are scarce, which warrants attention. Methods: We assessed the association between ALP and risk of depression in adults from the 2007-2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Depression was assessed using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to assess the association between ALP and risk of depression, and subgroup analyses were also performed. Results: A total of 17,485 participants were included. The prevalence of depression was 9.3% (1,631/17,485) and ALP was significantly associated with the risk of depression when ALP was a categorical variable (quadratic or categorized by 79 U/L) in a multivariate logistic regression model after adjusting for confounding factors (≥79 U/L vs. <79 U/L, adjusted OR, 1.15; 95%CI, 1.02-1.29). Each 1-unit increase in ALP (log2) was associated with a 20% increase in depression prevalence (adjusted OR, 1.20; 95%CI, 1.06-1.36) when ALP was used as a continuous variable. Subgroup analysis showed that ALP was positively associated with the risk of depression with different characteristics. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that higher alkaline phosphatase levels, even within the normal range, are significantly associated with a higher risk of depression in US adults. Such findings require further prospective studies to provide more evidence.

RESUMO

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease and the fourth leading cause of death after cardiovascular disease, tumors, and stroke. Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors, which are based on cholinergic damage, remain the mainstream drugs to alleviate AD-related symptoms. This study aimed to explore novel AChE inhibitors produced by the endophytic fungus FL15 from Huperzia serrata. The fungus was identified as Talaromyces aurantiacus FL15 according to its morphological characteristics and ITS, 18S rDNA, and 28S rDNA sequence analysis. Subsequently, seven natural metabolites were isolated from strain FL15, and identified as asterric acid (1), methyl asterrate (2), ethyl asterrate (3), emodin (4), physcion (5), chrysophanol (6), and sulochrin (7). Compounds 1-3, which possess a diphenyl ether structure, exhibited highly selective and moderate AChE inhibitory activities with IC50 values of 66.7, 23.3, and 20.1 µM, respectively. The molecular docking analysis showed that compounds 1-3 interacted with the active catalytic site and peripheral anionic site of AChE, and the esterification substitution groups at position 8 of asterric acid may contribute to its bioactivity. The asterric acid derivatives showed highly selective and moderate AChE inhibitory activities, probably via interaction with the peripheral anionic site and catalytic site of AChE. To the best of our knowledge, this study was the first report of the AChE inhibitory activity of asterric acid derivatives, which opens new perspectives for the design of more effective derivatives that could serve as a drug carrier for new chemotherapeutic agents to treat AD. RESUMO

Endophytic fungi inhabiting niche environments are novel biocatalyst resources that need to be exploited urgently. In this study, 63 endophytic fungi isolated from Dongxiang wild rice (Oryza rufipogon Griff.) were tested to assess their potentials to transform glycyrrhizin (GL) into glycyrrhetinic acid monoglucuronide (GAMG) or glycyrrhetinic acid (GA), of which 12 strains were shown to have ß-d-glucuronidase activity. Based on morphological characteristics and rDNA ITS sequence analysis, the strains S59, L138, L55 and R57 with high GL molar conversion rates (55%, 45%, 65% and 89%) were further identified as Microsphaeropsis arundinis S59, Penicillium rubens L138, Aspergillus flavus L55 and Eupenicillium javanicum R57, respectively. These four strains with four different types of GL conversion processes were identified, i.e., (1) GL → GAMG in M. arundinis S59, (2) GL → GAMG and GA in A. flavus L55, (3) GL → GA in P. rubens L138, and (4) GL → GAMG → GA in E. javanicum R57, in which the bioconversion type (4) is reported for the first time. The study not only provided abundant and diverse ß-d-glucuronidase resources that can be used for GL bioconversion, especially for GAMG biosynthesis from endophytic fungi, but also expanded our knowledge of potential roles of endophytes as new biocatalysts in biotransformation.

RESUMO

The secondary metabolites of Phaeosphaeria sp. LF5, an endophytic fungus with acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activity isolated from Huperzia serrata, were investigated. Their structures and absolute configurations were elucidated by means of extensive spectroscopic data, including one- and two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HR-ESI-MS) analyses, and calculations of electronic circular dichroism (ECD). A chemical study on the solid-cultured fungus LF5 resulted in 11 polyketide derivatives, which included three previously undescribed derivatives: aspilactonol I (4), 2-(1-hydroxyethyl)-6-methylisonicotinic acid (7), and 6,8-dihydroxy-3-(1'R, 2'R-dihydroxypropyl)-isocoumarin (9), and two new natural-source-derived aspilactonols (G, H) (2, 3). Moreover, the absolute configuration of de-O-methyldiaporthin (11) was identified for the first time. Compounds 4 and 11 exhibited inhibitory activity against AChE with half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values of 6.26 and 21.18 µM, respectively. Aspilactonol I (4) is the first reported furanone AChE inhibitor (AChEI). The results indicated that Phaeosphaeria is a good source of polyketide derivatives. This study identified intriguing lead compounds for further research and development of new AChEIs.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Keloids are exuberant cutaneous scars that form due to abnormal growth of fibrous tissue following an injury. The primary aim of this study was to assess the efficacy and mechanism of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) to reduce the keloid recurrence rate after surgical excision and radiotherapy. METHODS: (1) A total of 240 patients were randomly divided into two groups. Patients in the HBOT group (O group) received HBOT after surgical excision and radiotherapy. Patients in the other group were treated with only surgical excision and radiotherapy (K group). (2) Scar tissue from recurrent patients was collected after a second operation. Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining was used to observe keloid morphology. Certain inflammatory factors (interleukin-6 (IL-6), hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), nuclear factor κB (NF-κB), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)) were measured using immunohistochemical staining. RESULTS: (1) The recurrence rate of the O group (5.97%) was significantly lower than that of the K group (14.15%), P<0.05. Moreover, patients in the O group reported greater satisfaction than those in the K group (P<0.05). (2) Compared with the recurrent scar tissue of the K group, the expression levels of the inflammatory factors were lower in the recurrent scar tissue of the O group. CONCLUSIONS: Adjunctive HBOT effectively reduces the keloid recurrence rate after surgical excision and radiotherapy by improving the oxygen level of the tissue and alleviating the inflammatory process.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study was to study the clinical effect of split gluteus maximus muscle-adipofascial turnover flap and tension-reducing suture in the treatment of decubitus ulcers. Thirty-one cases of sacrococcygeal decubitus ulcers were repaired by split gluteus maximus muscle-adipofascial turnover flap. The surface of flaps ranged from 5×6 cm to 7×8 cm. The skin was then closed, primarily using subcutaneous tension-reducing suture. Eighty-eight percent of the flaps (27 of 31) healed primarily. The split gluteus maximus muscle-adipofascial turnover flap and tension-reducing suture technique was found to be a highly efficient method of repairing decubitus ulcers with a relatively low ratio of recurrence.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate a facial rhytidectomy technique to reduce the complications of temporal alopecia and incisional scar hyperplasia. METHODS: The 82 aged patients were divided into 2 groups in random way: group A in 46 with the use of the three-point relief-tension suspension technique and group B in 36 as control. In group A, the two point of every relief-tension suture was located respectively in the subcutis of the hairline and fascia under the incision. The parallel three sutures formed a mechanical plane to make the relief suture more strong and permanent. The temporal alopecia and incisional scar was observed with the follow-ups after the operation. RESULTS: With the 82 cases of facial rhytidoplasty, the complications of the temporal alopecia and incisional scars in group A were much less than in group B. CONCLUSIONS: This technique could decrease the complications such as temporal alopecia and incisional scars, and get a good and long term effect of temporal lifting simultaneously.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the aesthetic outcome after application of rectangle periosteous flap to cover corrugator. METHODS: On the basis of regular rhytidectomy, a inter-eyebrow periosteous flap is applied to cover the fascia flap of corrugator by means of turnover. This manipulation helps to separate the skin from the muscle and prevent the re-adherence between the skin and muscle. RESULTS: The approach was applied on 15 cases. The follow-up ranged from 6 months to 1 year. The results were satisfactory. CONCLUSIONS: The method is effective in elimination of inter-eyebrow crease.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To utilize multiplane, subcutaneous and subperiosteal, dissection through small incisions in scalp to rejuvenate aging signs of forehead/temple. METHODS: Forehead: We make four small incisions in scalp, widely separate tissues between subperiosteum skin and frontal muscle to form galea frontal muscle-periosteum flap, the flap is tightened and sutured with the galea at the posterior border of the incision. This method avoid to excise scalp. Temple: there are two small incisions in the scalp of temple at each side. Superficial temple fascia and orbicularis oculi muscle as well is dissected from deep temporal fascia and skin respectively, then tightened and sutured with the superficial part of deep temporal fascia, excising scalp is not necessary. RESULTS: Twenty patients have received this treatment, the effects are satisfying. CONCLUSIONS: Multiplane dissection through small incisions can remove wrinkles of skin, correct the prolapse of eyebrow and avoid the complications of coronary incision. This approach brings more rapid recovery of patients, it is safe and affective.
