RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Regarding the 2011 census in Hungary, the number of children with movement deficiences can be around 7,000. These children with special health care needs are considered to be a vulnerable group even from a dental point of view. In our dental program, we gain comprehensive information about patients' oral health, health behavior, and monitor dental care. STUDY DESIGN: A total of 199 children went through a full pediatric dental examination, children with cerebral palsy were categorized into five different levels (GMFCS) and children without motor disfunction into two groups. We analyzed the df-t and DMF-T values. Oral hygiene routine, dental care, gingivitis, demographic characteristics, nutritional habits odds ratio to df-t and DMF-T were surveyed. RESULTS: The mean df-t and DMF-T was 1.87 and 1.15 out of a total of 199, and the group that scored worse was the GMFCS II. The mean RI (restorative index) was 18.12% and 27% for decidous and permanent teeth, respectively. The prevalence of gingivitis was 66.7%. CONCLUSION: The results of our research point to the fact that children with cerebral palsy have difficulties in developing and maintaining proper oral health due to their disadvantages and therefore require special care and attention.

RESUMO

KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER STATEMENT: The EU PRUDENT project aims to enhance the financing of oral health systems through novel evidence and implementation of better financing solutions together with citizens, patients, providers, and policy makers. The multicountry nature of the project offers unique windows of opportunity for rapid learning and improving within and across various contexts. PRUDENT is anticipated to strengthen capacities for better oral care financing in the EU and worldwide.

RESUMO

Socket preservation using a combination of porcine xenograft and collagen membrane maintains the vertical and horizontal dimensions of the ridge. The aim of this study was to evaluate the microarchitecture of the grafted area by histological analysis and micro-computed tomography. Patients in the test group (group 1; nine patients) underwent socket preservation, while the sockets in the control group (group 2; eight patients) were allowed to heal without preservation. After a 6-month healing period, bone core biopsy samples were obtained and implants were placed in the augmented sites in the test group (12 biopsy samples) and the non-augmented sockets of the control group (12 biopsy samples). Analysis of the biopsy samples obtained from group 1 revealed that particles of the graft were surrounded by newly formed bone in eight cases and by granulation tissue in four cases. Micromorphometric data showed statistically significant differences in several parameters between the microarchitecture of the native bone and the newly formed bone within the augmented sites, which suggests that the xenograft particles interfere with the bony healing of the alveoli.

RESUMO

On the basis of random selection 1 g of Rocephin was given to 36 parturients following Cesarean section to prevent postoperative febrile diseases. The results confirm the role of antibiotic prophylaxis in the prevention of perioperative infections. If only partial prophylaxis may be applied preference has to be given to the so called risk cases.
