Analyzing their findings and published data, the authors demonstrate the possibility of rapid toxicologic assessment of polymers intended for contact with food. Polycarbonate and polysulfone were used in the studies.

On the basis of a significant amount of experimental studies of toxic effect of pesticides attributed to different groups of chemical substances a rapid calculating and experimental technique for hygienic standardization of pesticide content in foodstuffs has been set forth. The proposed technique enables one to define quickly and safely the threshold and inert pesticide doses and to reduce general duration of toxicologic experiments by 35%.

Numerous polymers and other materials to be used in food industry should be rapidly assessed from a hygienic view-point. Experience gained in this sphere permits us recommend a method for rapid hygienic expert evaluation of such materials. Approaches to, and potentialities of such expert evaluation are demonstrated.
