RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Sucrose non-fermenting 1 (SNF1)-associated protein kinase 2 (SnRK2) proteins belong to a relatively small family of plant-specific serine/threonine (Ser/Thr) protein kinases. SnRK2s participate in the abscisic acid (ABA) signaling pathway and play important roles in many biotic and abiotic stresses. At present, no SnRK2 gene has been reported in quinoa, and the recently published genome for this species provides an opportunity to identify and characterize the SnRK2 gene family. RESULTS: We identified 13 SnRK2 genes in the C. quinoa genome by bioinformatics analysis. Based on their phylogenetic relationships, these genes were divided into three subfamilies, similar to the situation in other plant species. Gene duplication analysis showed that there were seven pairs of homologous genes in the CqSnRK2 family, and that purifying selection played an important role in the evolution of SnRK2 genes. Gene structure analysis showed that the first exon in the SnRK2 family genes has the same length as the last exon, and that CqSnRK2 genes in the same subfamily have similar gene structures. Sequence analysis showed that the N-terminal region contains three highly conserved motifs. In addition, many kinds of cis-elements were identified in the promoter region of CqSnRK2, including those for hormone responses, stress responses, and tissue-specific expression. Transcription data analysis and qRT-PCR results showed that CqSnRK2 has different expression patterns in roots, stems, and leaves, and responded to biotic and abiotic stresses such as low temperature, salt, drought, and abscisic acid (ABA). In addition, we found that the protein encoded by CqSnRK2.12 was localized to the cytoplasm and nucleus, and there was no self-activation. The results of CqSnRK2.12 overexpression showed that transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana lines had increased drought tolerance compared to the controls. CONCLUSION: The results of our study provide references for further studies on the evolution, function, and expression of the SnRK2 gene family in quinoa.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT: The incidence of myocardial dysfunction caused by sepsis is high, and the mortality of patients with sepsis can be significantly increased. During sepsis, oxidative stress and inflammation can lead to severe organ dysfunction. Flavone chrysin is one of the indispensable biological active ingredients for different fruits and vegetables and has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. However, it is not clear whether chrysin is an effective treatment for heart dysfunction caused by sepsis. We found that it had protective effects against the harmful effects caused by LPS, manifested in improved survival, normalized cardiac function, improved partial pathological scores of myocardial tissue, and remission of apoptosis, as well as reduced oxidative stress and inflammation. Mechanism studies have found that chrysin is an important antioxidant protein, a key regulator of heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1). We found that HO-1 levels were increased after LPS intervention, and chrysin further increased HO-1 levels, along with the addition of Nrf2, a regulator of antioxidant proteins. Pretreatment with PD98059, an extracellular signal-regulated kinase-specific inhibitor, blocked chrysin-mediated phosphorylation of Nrf2 and the nuclear translocation of Nrf2. The protective effect of chrysin on sepsis-induced cardiac dysfunction was blocked by ZnPP, which is a HO-1 blocker. Chrysin increased antioxidant activity and reduced markers of oxidative stress (SOD and MDA) and inflammation (MPO and IL-1ß), all of which were blocked by ZnPP. This indicates that HO-1 is the upstream molecule regulating the protective effect of chrysin. Thus, by upregulation of HO-1, chrysin protects against LPS-induced cardiac dysfunction and inflammation by inhibiting oxidative stress.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: To assess the efficacy of Nimotuzumab in combination with first-line chemoradiotherapy treatment in Chinese patients with primary III-IVb stage nasopharyngeal carcinoma. METHODS: Patients with primary locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma who were treated with intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and concurrent cisplatin-based chemotherapy between January 2008 and December 2013 at a single institution were retrospectively reviewed. Group A received at least 6 doses of Nimotuzumab, while Group B did not receive Nimotuzumab. A propensity score matching method was used to match patients from each group in a 1:3 ratio. RESULTS: In total, 730 eligible patients were propensity matched, with 184 patients in Group A and 546 patients in Group B. Significant differences were not observed in the patient and tumor characteristics between Group A and Group B. At a median follow-up of 74.78 months (range 3.53-117.83 months), locoregional recurrence, distant failure and death were observed in 10.68, 11.10 and 16.03% of all patients, respectively. The estimated 5-year locoregional relapse-free survival, distant metastasis-free survival, progression-free survival and overall survival in the Group A versus Group B were 85.34% versus 89.79% (P = 0.156), 93.09% versus 85.61% (P = 0.012), 79.96% versus 77.99% (P = 0.117) and 88.91% versus 78.30% (P = 0.006), respectively. CONCLUSIONS: This nimotuzumab-containing regimen resulted in improved long-term survival of III-IVb stage NPC patients and warrants further prospective evaluation.

RESUMO

The optical absorption of graphene-molybdenum disulfide photovoltaic cells (GM-PVc) in wedge-shaped metal-mirror microcavities (w-MMCs) combined with a spectrum-splitting structure was studied. Results showed that the combination of spectrum-splitting structure and w-MMC can enable the light absorption of GM-PVcs to reach about 65% in the broad spectrum. The influence of processing errors on the absorption of GM-PVcs in w-MMCs was 3-14 times lower than that of GM-PVcs in wedge photonic crystal microcavities. The light absorption of GM-PVcs reached 60% in the broad spectrum, even with the processing errors. The proposed structure is easy to implement and may have potentially important applications in the development of ultra-thin and high-efficiency solar cells and optoelectronic devices.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND UCA1 is a long non-coding RNA that has been found to be aberrantly upregulated in various cancers. The aim of this study was to determine the expression level and function of UCA1 in medulloblastoma, the most common malignant brain tumor during childhood. MATERIAL AND METHODS Real-time PCR was used to detect the expression of UCA1 in medulloblastoma specimens and cell lines. Lentiviral-mediated expression of a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) targeting UCA1 or a negative control shRNA was also achieved with the medulloblastoma cell line, Daoy. Cell proliferation and cell cycle progression were subsequently characterized with cell counting kit (CCK)-8 and flow cytometry. Cell migration was examined in wound healing and Transwell migration assays. RESULTS Levels of UCA1 mRNA were higher in the medulloblastoma specimens (p<0.05) and cell lines (p<0.05) compared to the corresponding nontumor adjacent tissue specimens and a glioblastoma cell line, respectively. For the Daoy cells with silenced UCA1, their proliferation was reduced by 30% compared to the Daoy cells expressing a negative control shRNA (p=0.017). Cell cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase, resulting in a decreased number of cells in the S phase, as well as reduced cell migration in both wound scratch healing (p=0.001) and Transwell migration assays (p=0.021) were also observed for the Daoy cells with silenced UCA1. CONCLUSIONS UCA1 was highly expressed in part of medulloblastoma specimens and cell lines examined. In addition, knockdown of UCA1 significantly inhibited the proliferation and migration of medulloblastoma cells in vitro.

RESUMO

Concentrations of total mercury (T-Hg) and methylmercury (MeHg) in a wetland food chain were determined at Majuan Island of the Sanjiang Plain in China. Four tissues (muscle, liver, kidney and brain) of three waterbird species (great cormorant, grey heron and great egret), muscle tissues of fish (grass carp, crucian carp and longnose gudgeon), insects (predacious diving beetle), aquatic plants (ditch reed) and soil were analyzed. The mean concentrations of T-Hg were 0.392 ± 0.237 mg/kg for tissues of all juveniles, 1.999 ± 2.053 mg/kg for great cormorant adults, and 0.029 ± 0.019 mg/kg for fish muscle, respectively. While the relative contents of T-Hg of insects, plants and sediments were 0.012 ± 0.002, 0.006 ± 0.001 and 0.020 ± 0.002 mg/kg, respectively. Bioaccumulation of Hg along the wetland food chain may be able to show the current situation of Hg contamination in remote regions of East Asia.

RESUMO

Catamenial pneumothorax (CP) is considered to be an extremely rare entity, characterized by recurrent pneumothorax occurring between the day before and within 72 hours after the onset of menses, usually in the right-side thorax cavity in women of reproductive age.The etiology remains obscure. We report a rare case of CP complicated with multiple diaphragmatic perforations as the only thoracoscopy finding, and also with right-side isolated pneumoperitoneum confirmed by a chest X-ray. This case strongly supports the hypothesis that CP may be caused by the air through the perforations of the diaphragm.

RESUMO

Background: The occurrence of immunity and inflammation outside the central nervous system frequently results in acute cognitive impairment among elderly patients. However, there is currently a lack of standardized methods for diagnosing acute cognitive impairment. The objective of our study was to identify potential mRNA biomarkers and investigate the pathogenesis of acute cognitive impairment in mice brains. Methods: To analyze changes in hub genes associated with acute cognitive impairment, bioinformatics analysis was performed on the mouse brain injury data of sterile saline control group and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced experimental group in Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). Functional analysis was conducted using Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), which facilitated to identify some potential mRNA biomarkers for hub gene expression in mice brains. Additionally, the "CIBERSORT X″ R kit was employed to examine immune cell infiltrations of mice brains in LPS group and saline group. Results: In the LPS and saline group, 102 significantly upregulated differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and 32 downregulated DEGs were identified. The pathway enrichment analysis using GO and KEGG revealed that these DEGs were mainly related to the regulation of cytokine, cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, as well as protein interaction with cytokine and cytokine receptor. Immune cell infiltration analysis indicated potential involvement of M1 macrophages, NK cells resting, T cells CD4 memory, and T cells CD8 naive in the process of cognitive impairment. By constructing a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network, five hub genes (Cxcl10, Cxcl12, Cxcr3, Gbp2, and Ifih1) showed significant associations with immune cell types by using a threshold Spearman's rank correlation coefficient of R > 0.50 and p < 0.05. Conclusion: The mRNA expression profile of the mice brain tissues in the LPS group differed from that in the normal saline group. These significantly expressed mRNAs may act an importance in the pathogenesis of acute cognitive impairment through mechanisms involving immunity and neuroinflammation.

RESUMO

Enhancing the recovery efficiency of non-ferrous metals in eddy current separation is of great significance. In this study, the accuracy of the simulation model was verified by comparing the eddy current force. The transformation mechanism of the Lorentz forces into the eddy current force and torque in non-ferrous metal particles was revealed by analyzing various physical fields. Then, the influence of magnetic field parameters on eddy current, eddy current force, and torque was studied. It shows that the eddy current force and torque are affected by the vector gradient of the magnetic field and the magnetic flux density, respectively. Additionally, the time derivative of the magnetic field impacts the magnitude of the eddy current force and torque by controlling the eddy current. On this basis, the empirical models of eddy current force and torque were established by similarity theory. The results obtained can improve and expand the application of eddy current separation.

RESUMO

The undesirable and inevitable adhesion of marine organisms on submerged surfaces has seriously affect the environment, economy and society, so emerging and promising strategies for antifouling are required. Here, the novel and environmental strategy of the antibacterial and antialgal materials was proposed for the application of the antifouling coating without releasing harmful substances. The environment-friendly antifouling agent, the capsaicin derivative N-(2,5-dihydroxy-4-acrylamide meth-ylbenzyl)acrylamide (PHABA), was modified to the molecular chain of the polyurethane. The best tensile strength was up to 23.5 MPa of PUP-25% and the elongation at break was 415% of PUP-25%. The excellent wear resistance (300 wear cycles) and chemical solution resistance (H2SO4, NaOH, and NaCl solutions) revealed the applicability of the coating. PHABA would migrate to the surface of the polyurethane coating with time and enhanced the antibacterial and antialgal properties of the coating. PUP-25% prevented more than 90% of bacterial and algal adhesion, indicating the potential application of the antifouling coating.

RESUMO

Supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) employing carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) is an efficient method to extract bioactive compounds from agro-forest wastes. These compounds maintain and/or improve food nutrition, safety, freshness, taste, and health and are employed as natural functional food components. To highlight the potential of this technology, we focus on the following current advances: (I) parameters affecting solubility in SFE (pressure, temperature, SC-CO2 flow rate, extraction time, and co-solvents); (II) extraction spectra and yield obtained according to proportion and composition of co-solvents; (III) extract bioactivity for functional food production. Fatty acids, monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, diterpenoids, and low-polarity phenolic acids and triterpenoids were extracted using SFE without a co-solvent. High-polarity phenolic acids and flavonoids, tannins, carotenoids, and alkaloids were only extracted with the help of co-solvents. Using a co-solvent significantly improved the triterpenoid, flavonoid, and phenolic acid yield with a medium polarity.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To compare the clinical effects of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) between the left anterior small thoracotomy (LAST) and lower-end sternal splitting (LESS) approaches for coronary artery disease. METHODS: In total, 110 patients who underwent LAST from October 2015 to December 2020 in Tianjin Chest Hospital were selected as the observation group. Patients who underwent the LESS approach during the same period were analyzed. The propensity score was calculated by a logistic regression model, and nearest-neighbor matching was used for 1:1 matching. RESULTS: The length of hospital stay and ventilator support time were significantly shorter in the LAST than LESS group. The target vessels in the obtuse marginal branch and posterior left ventricular artery branch grafts were significantly more numerous in the LAST than LESS group, but those in the right coronary artery graft were significantly less numerous in the LAST group. CONCLUSIONS: CABG using either the LAST or LESS approach is safe and effective, especially in low-risk patients. The LAST approach can achieve complete revascularization for multivessel lesions and has the advantages of less trauma and an aesthetic outcome. However, it requires a certain learning curve to master the surgical techniques and has specific surgical indications.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Leukocytes play an important role in cancer development. However, the impact of chemotherapy-associated neutropenia/lymphopenia on the prognosis of adjuvant chemotherapy is unknown. Here, we aimed to explore the impact of chemotherapy-associated neutrophil/lymphocyte counts on prognosis of adjuvant chemotherapy in colorectal cancer (CRC) and the risk factors for developing neutropenia/lymphopenia which showed impact on the prognosis of CRC receiving adjuvant chemotherapy. METHODS: From February 2003 to January 2011, 243 stage II and III CRC patients receiving adjuvant chemotherapy were enrolled in this retrospective study. The associations between neutrophil/ lymphocyte counts and disease free survival (DFS)/overall survival (OS) of CRC, and the risk factors for neutropenia/lymphopenia were investigated. RESULTS: No association of chemotherapy-associated neutrophil counts and CRC recurrence (AUC = 0.474, P = 0.534), death (AUC = 0.449, P = 0.249) was found by ROC analysis. However, the chemotherapy-associated lymphocyte counts could significantly affect CRC recurrence (AUC = 0.634, P = 0.001), or death(AUC = 0.607, P = 0.015), with a optimized cut-off of 0.66 × 10(9)/L for recurrence, and 0.91 × 10(9)/L for death, respectively. Kaplan-Meier method showed chemotherapy-associated lymphopenia <0.66 × 10(9)/L was associated with shorter DFS (P < 0.0001), and chemotherapy-associated lymphopenia <0.91 × 10(9)/L was associated with shorter OS (P = 0.003). Cox regression model showed chemotherapy-associated lymphopenia <0.66 × 10(9)/L was the independent prognostic factor for DFS (HR, 3.521; 95%CI = 1.703-7.282), and chemotherapy-associated lymphopenia <0.91 × 10(9)/L was the independent prognostic factor for OS (HR, 2.083; 95% CI = 1.103-3.936). Multivariate logistic regression showed the risk of developing chemotherapy-associated lymphopenia <0.66 × 10(9)/L was found in those with pretreatment CEA ≥10 ng ml(-1) (OR, 3.338; 95% CI = 1.523-7.315), and the risk of developing chemotherapy-associated lymphopenia <0.91 × 10(9)/L was found in those with age >60 years (OR, 2.872; 95% CI = 1.344-6.136). CONCLUSIONS: Chemotherapy-associated lymphopenia <0.66 × 10(9)/L /0.91 × 10(9)/L has a significant impact on the prognosis of CRC receiving adjuvant chemotherapy. Pretreatment CEA ≥10 ng ml(-1) is the independent risk factor for developing lymphopenia <0.66 × 109/L, and age >60 years is the independent risk factor for developing lymphopenia <0.91 × 10(9)/L during adjuvant chemotherapy of CRC.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Our study aimed to compare the prevalence of postoperative fever during the COVID-19 pandemic period with that of the preceding non-pandemic period. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients with pectus excavatum (PE) undergoing minimally invasive repair (also called NUSS procedure) at Nanjing Children's Hospital from January 1, 2017 to March 1, 2019 (Group 2019), and from January 1, 2020 to March 1, 2021 (Group 2021). Data from a total of 284 patients, consisting of 200 (70.4%) males and 84 (29.6%) females with an average age of 9.73 ± 3.41 (range, 4 to 17) years, were collected. The presence of post-operative fever (defined as a forehead temperature of 37.5℃ or above within 72 h post-surgery), as well as the time of operation, duration of postoperative mechanical ventilator and urinary catheter use, and length of hospitalization were all assessed in admitted patients from Group 2019 (n = 144) and Group 2021 (n = 140). Postoperative white blood cell (WBC), C-reactive protein (CRP) levels, and prevalence of postoperative complications (i.e., pneumothorax, pulmonary atelectasis, pneumonia, wound infection, and dehiscence) were also determined. RESULT: Our results showed a statistically significant decrease in the incidence of postoperative fever within 24 to 72 h of surgery in patients admitted from Group 2019 as compared to Group 2021 (p < 0.001), as well as a decrease in peak body temperature within 72 h (p < 0.05). Meanwhile, no significant differences were observed in age and body mass index (BMI), time of operation, or duration of postoperative mechanical ventilator and urinary catheter use between the two groups (p > 0.05). The average hospitalization length of Group 2021 was significantly shorter than Group 2019 (12.49 ± 2.57 vs. 11.85 ± 2.19 days, p < 0.05). Furthermore, while the WBC count between the two groups 24 h after surgery showed a statistical difference (p < 0.05), no differences in CRP levels or the incidence of postoperative complications were observed (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION: The prevalence of postoperative fever within 72 h of surgery and the length of hospital stay for patients with PE undergoing NUSS surgery were both decreased in Group 2021. We propose that the above phenomenon may be related to increased used of personal protection equipment (such as surgical masks and filtering facepiece respirators (FFRs)) by physicians, nurses, and the patients themselves.

RESUMO

Acute kidney injury (AKI) remains to be a common but severe complication after liver transplantation (LT). However, there are still few clinically validated biomarkers. A total of 214 patients who underwent routine furosemide (1-2 mg/kg) after LT were retrospectively included. The urine output during the first 6 h was recorded to evaluate the predictive value of AKI stage 3 and renal replacement therapy (RRT). 105 (49.07%) patients developed AKI, including 21 (9.81%) progression to AKI stage 3 and 10 (4.67%) requiring RRT. The urine output decreased with the increasing severity of AKI. The urine output of AKI stage 3 did not significantly increase after the use of furosemide. The area under the receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curves for the total urine output in the first hour to predict progression to AKI stage 3 was 0.94 (p < 0.001). The ideal cutoff for predicting AKI progression during the first hour was a urine volume of less than 200 ml with a sensitivity of 90.48% and specificity of 86.53%. The area under the ROC curves for the total urine output in the six hours to predict progression to RRT was 0.944 (p < 0.001). The ideal cutoff was a urine volume of less than 500 ml with a sensitivity of 90% and specificity of 90.91%. Severe AKI after liver transplantation seriously affects the outcome of patients. Lack of furosemide responsiveness quickly and accurately predict AKI stage 3, and patients requiring RRT after the operation.

RESUMO

Background: With the aging of the global population, Spinal injuries are often prone to occur and affect human health. The development of technology has put robots on the stage to assist in the treatment of spinal injuries. Methods: A comprehensive literature search were carried out in multiple databases, including PubMed, Medline (Ovid), Web of Science, Cochrane, Embase, Scopus, CKNI, Wang fang, VIP database, Sino Med, Clinical Trails until 20th, June, 2023 to collect effect of robot-assisted gait training for patients with spinal cord injury patients. Primary outcome includes any changes of gait distance and gait speed. Secondary outcomes include any changes in functions (Such as TUG, Leg strength, 10 MWT) and any advent events. Data were extracted from two independent individuals and Cochrane Risk of Bias tool version 2.0 was assessed for the included studies. Systematic review and meta-analysis were performed by RevMan 5.3 software. Results: 11 studies were included in meta-analysis. The result showed that gait distance [WMD = 16.05, 95% CI (-15.73, 47.83), I2 = 69%], gait speed (RAGT vs. regular treatment) [WMD = 0.01, 95% CI (-0.04, 0.05), I2 = 43%], gait speed (RAGT vs. no intervention) [WMD = 0.07, 95% CI (0.01, 0.12), I2 = 0%], leg strength [WMD = 0.59, 95% CI (-1.22, 2.40), I2 = 29%], TUG [WMD = 9.25, 95% CI (2.76, 15.73), I2 = 74%], 10 MWT [WMD = 0.01, 95% CI (-0.15, 0.16), I2 = 0%], and 6 MWT [WMD = 1.79, 95% CI (-21.32, 24.90), I2 = 0%]. Conclusion: Robot-assisted gait training seems to be helpful for patients with spinal cord to improve TUG. It may not affect gait distance, gait speed, leg strength, 10 MWT, and 6 MWT.

RESUMO

Recently, natural photosensitizers, such as berberine, curcumin, riboflavin, and emodin, have received more and more attention in photodynamic therapy. Tanshinone I (TanI) is extracted from a traditional Chinese herb Danshen, and exhibits many physiological functions including antitumor. TanI is a photoactive phytocompounds, but no work was tried to investigate its potential photodynamic effect. This study evaluated the cytotoxicity induced by the photodynamic effect of TanI. The photochemical reactions of TanI were firstly investigated by laser flash photolysis. Then breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 was chosen as a model and the photodynamic effect of TanI on cancer cell was evaluated by MTT assay and flow cytometry. The results showed that TanI could be photoexcited by its UV-Vis absorption light to produce 3TanI* which was quickly quenched by O2. MTT assay showed that the photodynamic effect of TanI resulted in more obvious inhibitive effect on cell survival and cell migration. Besides, the photodynamic effect of TanI could induce cell apoptosis and necrosis, lead to cell cycle arrest in G2, increase intracellular ROS, and decrease the cellular Δψm. It can be concluded that the photodynamic effect of TanI can obviously enhance the cytotoxicity of TanI on MDA-MB-231 cells in vitro, which indicated that TanI might serve as a natural photosensitizer.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Hematological inflammatory parameters, including neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio, are good predictors of postoperative pulmonary complications after lung cancer resection. However, the clinical value of the systemic immune-inflammation index has not been extensively studied. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed a cohort of patients that underwent lung cancer resection in our center, and we analyzed the hematological inflammatory parameters (including systemic immune-inflammation index) and postoperative pulmonary complications after lung cancer resection. The receiver operating characteristic curve was applied to determine the best cut-off value. Multivariable analysis was applied to assess which of the factors was the most important. RESULTS: Two hundred and four patients were enrolled in this study. Of these, 47 postoperative pulmonary complications events were observed in 40 patients in this cohort. Surgery method, white blood cell count, albumin, forced expiratory volume in 1 second, carbon monoxide diffusing capacity, intensive care unit stay, and systemic immune-inflammation index were found to be significantly different between the postoperative pulmonary complications and non-postoperative pulmonary complications groups. We then used the receiver operating characteristic curves and the Youden index to determine the best cutoff value. Multivariable analysis revealed that systemic immune-inflammation index and forced expiratory volume in 1 second were the most important predictive factors of postoperative pulmonary complications after lung cancer resection. CONCLUSION: Hematological inflammatory parameters of systemic immune-inflammation index and forced expiratory volume in 1 second could be a favorable index to predict postoperative pulmonary complications after lung cancer resection.

RESUMO

Objectives: Dynamic susceptibility contrast perfusion weighted imaging (DSC-PWI) plays an important role in the differential diagnosis between radionecrosis and recurrence of brain metastases (BMs) after gamma knife radiosurgery (GKRS). While the perfusion condition of preliminary hyperperfusion and hypoperfusion BMs when recur has not been studied, as well the separating performance of quantitative DSC-PWI in both kinds of BMs. Methods: From February 2017 to October 2019, quantitative DSC-PWI was performed in patients with untreated BMs in this observational study. Patients were assigned to hyperperfusion and hypoperfusion group according the quantitative cerebral blood volume (qCBV). During follow-up after GKRS, patients with a diagnostic pitfall of radionecrosis and recurrence accepted second quantitative DSC-PWI. Final diagnosis was based on the histological results or follow-up results. Receiver operating curve analysis was used to explore the performance of qCBV. Results: Twenty-nine patients (mean age: 61.3 ± 9.4 years old; male/female: 13/16) were assigned to the group of hypoperfusion group, and 26 patients (mean age: 58 ± 10.4 years old; male/female: 14/12) to hyperperfusion group. The mean qCBV values between hypoperfusion and hyperperfusion groups when recurred were not significantly different (3.17 ± 0.53 ml/100 g vs. 3.27 ± 0.47 ml/100 g, p = 0.63). qCBV was feasible to separate radionecrosis and recurrence in both groups (AUC=0.94 and AUC=0.93, separately). Conclusion: Both premilitary hyperperfusion and hypoperfusion BMs would transform to a high microvascular density when recurs. qCBV is feasible to distinguish radionecrosis and recurrence among both kinds of BMs after GKRS.

RESUMO

Biological invasions are increasingly attracting the ecologists' attention. Invasive plants threaten the natural ecosystems not only by competing with the native plants, but also by altering the structure and function of soil microbial communities belowground. In this study, we studied the effects of the invasive plant Coreopsis grandiflora (C. grandiflora) on the functional diversity of soil microbial communities in Laoshan mountain in the province of Shandong, North of China. We sampled soil from plots that were invaded or not invaded by C. grandiflora. The functional diversity of microbial communities in the sampled soils was assessed by the Biolog procedure test. By the ANOVA analysis of average well color development (AWCD), Shannon index (H'), Shannon evenness (E), principle components analysis of the level physiological profiles (CLPP) and correlation analysis between the studied parameters, we found that the invasive species C. grandiflora enhanced the functional diversity of soil microbial communities where the habitat was invaded by the C. grandiflora. The study indicated thatthe successful invasive plants have profound effects on the function of soil microbial communities.
