BACKGROUND: Testicular germ cell tumors (TGCTs) exhibit diverse biological and pathological features and are divided in two main types, seminomas and nonseminomatous germ cell tumors (NSGCTs). CD44 is a cell surface receptor, which is highly expressed in malignancies and is implicated in tumorigenesis affecting cell-matrix interactions and cell signaling. METHODS AND RESULTS: Here, we examined the expression of CD44 in tumor cell lines and in patients' material. We found that CD44 is over-expressed in TGCTs compared to normal tissues. Immunohistochemical staining in 71 tissue specimens demonstrated increased expression of CD44 in some patients, whereas CD44 was absent in normal tissue. In seminomas, a high percentage of tumor and stromal cells showed cytoplasmic and/or cell surface staining for CD44 as well as increased staining for CD44 in the tumor stroma was found in some cases. The increased expression of CD44 either in tumor cells or in stromal components was associated with tumor size, nodal metastasis, vascular/lymphatic invasion, and disease stage only in seminomas. The increased stromal expression of CD44 in TGCTs was positively associated with angiogenesis. CONCLUSIONS: CD44 may exhibit diverse biological functions in seminomas and NSGCTs. The expression of CD44 in tumor cells as well as in tumor stroma fosters an aggressive phenotype in seminomas and should be considered in disease treatment.

GATA3 is a transcription factor involved in embryogenesis of multiple human tissues and in maintaining cell differentiation and tissue homeostasis in the adult organism. GATA3 is also involved in carcinogenesis and regarded as a sensitive marker for urothelial and breast carcinomas, albeit expression in carcinomas of non-breast/urothelial origin has been frequently reported. We sought to examine the extent and intensity of GATA3 expression in various carcinomas, mainly lung, urothelial, and breast and various other primary sites. Patients with breast carcinoma (N=40), carcinoma of the urinary bladder/renal pelvis (N=40), lung carcinoma (N=110) and various other origins (N=45) were included in the study. One hundred and sixty-five patients had a primary tumor diagnosis, and 70 cases had a metastatic tumor diagnosis. Our results showed that GATA3 expression was significantly more common in carcinomas of the breast, urinary bladder and renal pelvis compared to all other origins. All primary and 93% of metastatic urinary bladder carcinomas and 94% of the primary and 80% of metastatic breast carcinomas expressed GATA3. Expression was lower in non-urothelial histology of urinary primaries and in triple negative breast carcinomas. Focal staining, mostly faint, was seen in 5.6% of the primary lung adenocarcinomas and 35% of the primary lung squamous cell carcinomas. More extensive and intense staining was seen in 3.7% of the primary lung adenocarcinomas and 12% of the primary lung squamous cell carcinomas. Expression, mostly focal was also seen in 30% of the metastatic lung carcinomas. Finally, high expression was seen in 12.5% of the other tumors (one metastatic pancreatic carcinoma, one metastatic salivary gland adenocarcinoma NOS, one metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the skin, one primary uterine cervix serous carcinoma, and one squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck) and focal expression was present in another 22% of them. No ideal cut-off for positivity for GATA3 staining could be identified. In conclusion our study shows that GATA3 staining has two caveats in its use: the first is that non classical histologies of urothelial carcinomas and TNBC may be negative for the marker and secondly carcinomas of various origins may show (although rarely) intense positivity.

Acremonium is a large fungal genus that is comprised of approximately 150 species, found ubiquitously in nature. Although the majority are recognized as being saprophytes in soil and pathogens of plants, several species are emerging as causative agents of a variety of human infections, including mycetomas. Herein, we present a young man that was referred to our department with a painful subungual mass that developed following traumatic inoculation of Acremonium spp. In recent years, the role of Acremonium spp. has been increasingly recognized in localized infections, such as mycetoma, in humans. Other locally invasive as well as disseminated infections are also described. Optimal treatment of Acremonium spp. mycetoma is not well defined owing to the rarity of cases, thus posing a therapeutic challenge.

Histopathology image processing, analysis and computer-aided diagnosis have been shown as effective assisting tools towards reliable and intra-/inter-observer invariant decisions in traditional pathology. Especially for cancer patients, decisions need to be as accurate as possible in order to increase the probability of optimal treatment planning. In this study, we propose a new image collection library (HICL-Histology Image Collection Library) comprising 3831 histological images of three different diseases, for fostering research in histopathology image processing, analysis and computer-aided diagnosis. Raw data comprised 93, 116 and 55 cases of brain, breast and laryngeal cancer respectively collected from the archives of the University Hospital of Patras, Greece. The 3831 images were generated from the most representative regions of the pathology, specified by an experienced histopathologist. The HICL Image Collection is free for access under an academic license at http://medisp.bme.teiath.gr/hicl/ . Potential exploitations of the proposed library may span over a board spectrum, such as in image processing to improve visualization, in segmentation for nuclei detection, in decision support systems for second opinion consultations, in statistical analysis for investigation of potential correlations between clinical annotations and imaging findings and, generally, in fostering research on histopathology image processing and analysis. To the best of our knowledge, the HICL constitutes the first attempt towards creation of a reference image collection library in the field of traditional histopathology, publicly and freely available to the scientific community.

The aim of the present study was to design a microscopy image analysis (MIA) system for predicting the 5-year survival of patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma, employing histopathology images of lesions, which had been immunohistochemically (IHC) stained for p63 expression. Biopsy materials from 42 patients, with verified laryngeal cancer and follow-up, were selected from the archives of the University Hospital of Patras, Greece. Twenty six patients had survived more than 5 years and 16 less than 5 years after the first diagnosis. Histopathology images were IHC stained for p63 expression. Images were first processed by a segmentation method for isolating the p63-expressed nuclei. Seventy-seven features were evaluated regarding texture, shape, and physical topology of nuclei, p63 staining, and patient-specific data. Those features, the probabilistic neural network classifier, the leave-one-out (LOO), and the bootstrap cross-validation methods, were used to design the MIA-system for assessing the 5-year survival of patients with laryngeal cancer. MIA-system accuracy was about 90 % and 85 %, employing the LOO and the Bootstrap methods, respectively. The image texture of p63-expressed nuclei appeared coarser and contained more edges in the 5-year non-survivor group. These differences were at a statistically significant level (p < 0.05). In conclusion, this study has proposed an MIA-system that may be of assistance to physicians, as a second opinion tool in assessing the 5-year survival of patients with laryngeal cancer, and it has revealed useful information regarding differences in nuclei texture between 5-year survivors and non-survivors.

PURPOSE: To investigate the phenomenon of distal embolization during subintimal angioplasty with or without stenting of femoropopliteal chronic total occlusions (CTOs). METHODS: This prospective study included 40 consecutive patients (35 men; mean age 65.4±9.3 years) who underwent subintimal angioplasty alone (n=14) or with stenting (n=26) of CTOs in the femoropopliteal segment. A Spider protection filter was used to capture any possible macro- or microemboli generated during balloon inflation/stenting. Arterial outflow was angiographically checked during each consecutive procedural step. All filters were examined on site for macroscopic material, while the first 20 filters underwent further histopathological qualitative and semiquantitative analysis using a 0+ to 3+ score. RESULTS: There was no angiographically or clinically evident distal embolization. Macroscopic particulate debris was not detected in any filter. Histopathology confirmed the absence of macroemboli but revealed microembolic material (diameter <100 µm) in all filters (20/20). The mean number of particles detected was 9.4±4.5 (range 5-17). Histopathological findings included fibrin conglomerates (20/20), trapped erythrocytes (19/20), inflammatory cells (16/20), calcification minerals (6/20), extracellular matrix (6/20), cholesterol clefts (6/20), and endothelial cells (6/20). Captured material was classified as fresh and old thrombus in 7/20 and 4/20 cases, respectively. Semiquantitative analysis demonstrated that the collected microparticles consisted primarily of fibrin conglomerates (median score 2+), trapped erythrocytes (median score 1+), and inflammatory cells (median score 1+). CONCLUSION: Macroscopically evident emboli were not detected following subintimal angioplasty or stenting of femoropopliteal CTOs. Microscopic debris was present in all filters. The clinical significance of the phenomenon remains to be determined.

Pleiotrophin (PTN) is a heparin-binding growth factor with diverse functions related to tumor growth, angiogenesis, and metastasis. Pleiotrophin seems to have a significant role in prostate cancer cell growth and to mediate the stimulatory actions of other factors that affect prostate cancer cell functions. However, all studies carried out up to date are in vitro, using different types of human prostate cancer cell lines. The aim of the present work was to study the role of endogenous PTN in human prostate cancer growth in vivo. For this purpose, human prostate cancer PC3 cells were stably transfected with a plasmid vector, bearing the antisense PTN sequence, in order to inhibit PTN expression (AS-PC3). Migration, apoptosis, and adhesion on osteoblastic cells were measured in vitro. In vivo, PC3 cells were s.c. injected into male NOD/SCID mice, and tumor growth, survival rates, angiogenesis, apoptosis, and the number of metastasis were estimated. Pleiotrophin depletion resulted in a decreased migration capability of AS-PC3 cells compared with the corresponding mock-transfected or the non-transfected PC3 cells, as well as increased apoptosis and decreased adhesiveness to osteoblastic cells in vitro. In prostate cancer NOD/SCID mouse xenografts, PTN depletion significantly suppressed tumor growth and angiogenesis and induced apoptosis of cancer cells. In addition, PTN depletion decreased the number of metastases, providing a survival benefit for the animals bearing AS-PC3 xenografts. Our data suggest that PTN is implicated in human prostate cancer growth in vivo and could be considered a potential target for the development of new therapeutic approaches for prostate cancer.

BACKGROUND: Mammographic density (MD) and malignant-appearing microcalcifications (MAMCs) represent the earliest mammographic findings of non-palpable breast carcinomas. Matrix proteoglycans versican and decorin are frequently over-expressed in various malignancies and are differently involved in the progression of cancer. In the present study, we have evaluated the expression of versican and decorin in non-palpable breast carcinomas and their association with high risk mammographic findings and tumor characteristics. METHODS: Three hundred and ten patients with non-palpable suspicious breast lesions, detected during screening mammography, were studied. Histological examination was carried out and the expression of decorin, versican, estrogen receptor α (ERα), progesterone receptor (PR) and c-erbB2 (HER-2/neu) was assessed by immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: Histological examination showed 83 out of 310 (26.8%) carcinomas of various subtypes. Immunohistochemistry was carried out in 62/83 carcinomas. Decorin was accumulated in breast tissues with MD and MAMCs independently of the presence of malignancy. In contrast, versican was significantly increased only in carcinomas with MAMCs (median ± SE: 42.0 ± 9.1) and MD (22.5 ± 10.1) as compared to normal breast tissue with MAMCs (14.0 ± 5.8), MD (11.0 ± 4.4) and normal breast tissue without mammographic findings (10.0 ± 2.0). Elevated levels of versican were correlated with higher tumor grade and invasiveness in carcinomas with MD and MAMCs, whereas increased amounts of decorin were associated with in situ carcinomas in MAMCs. Stromal deposition of both proteoglycans was related to higher expression of ERα and PR in tumor cells only in MAMCs. CONCLUSIONS: The specific accumulation of versican in breast tissue with high MD and MAMCs only in the presence of malignant transformation and its association with the aggressiveness of the tumor suggests its possible use as molecular marker in non-palpable breast carcinomas.

PURPOSE: To in vivo investigate the histological response after single and double cryoplasty therapy in a rabbit iliac artery model. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In total, 40 New Zealand White rabbits underwent percutaneous transluminal angioplasty of the iliac artery using either PolarCath balloon or a conventional angioplasty balloon of equal diameter. Arterial injury, inflammatory response and smooth muscle cells (SMC) apoptosis with the TUNEL (Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP Nick End Labeling) immunohistochemical assay were analyzed. Rabbits were divided between single or double balloon inflation and histological results were compared between cryoplasty and control angioplasty both at 30 min and 72 h. RESULTS: Arterial injury and wall inflammation scores were low and similar between cryoplasty and control groups after single and double balloon inflation. Compared to conventional balloon angioplasty, Polarcath cryoplasty demonstrated superior SMC apoptosis after single inflation at 30 min [12.0±1.2 cells/(0.025 mm)2 vs 7.0±1.5 cells/(0.025 mm)(2), p=0.002], single inflation at 72 h [9.0±1.0 cells/(0.025 mm)(2) vs 5.4±1.4 cells/(0.025 mm)(2), p=0.001], double inflation at 30 min [11.6±1.5 cells/(0.025 mm)(2) vs 6.8±1.4 cells/(0.025 mm)(2), p=0.001] and double inflation at 72h [9.2±0.8 cells/(0.025 mm)(2) vs 5.0±0.7 cells/(0.025 mm)(2), p=0.001]. There were no significant differences in apoptosis between single and double cryoplasty application at 30 min and 72 h. CONCLUSION: Cryoplasty demonstrated superior rates of SMC apoptosis at 30 min and 72 h and was associated to relatively low arterial injury and inflammation scores. An immediate second PolarCath inflation did not achieve superior apoptosis.

Raising awareness about primary TAS, a rare and aggressive mesenchymal tumor, is important so that early diagnosis and undelayed radical surgery along with complementary radiation are possible. Extending the existing knowledge on the course and final outcome of the disease may help identify the best treatment approach to improve survival.

Our purpose was to employ microscopy images of amplified in breast cancer 1 (AIB1)-stained biopsy material of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) to: (a) find statistically significant differences (SSDs) in the texture and color of the epithelial gland tissue, between 5-year survivors and non-survivors after the first diagnosis and (b) employ machine learning (ML) methods for predicting the CRC-patient 5-year survival. We collected biopsy material from 54 patients with diagnosed CRC from the archives of the University Hospital of Patras, Greece. Twenty-six of the patients had survived 5 years after the first diagnosis. We selected regions of interest containing the epithelial gland at different microscope lens magnifications. We computed 69 textural and color features. Furthermore, we identified features with SSDs between the two groups of patients and we designed a supervised ML system for predicting the CRC-patient 5-year survival. Additionally, we employed the VGG16 pretrained convolution neural network to extract deep learning (DL) features, the support vector machines classifier, and the bootstrap cross-validation method for boosting the accuracy of predicting 5-year survival. Fourteen features sustained SSDs between the two groups of patients. The supervised ML system achieved 87% accuracy in predicting 5-year survival. In comparison, the DL system, using images from all magnifications, gave 97% classification accuracy. Glandular texture in 5-year non-survivors appeared to be of lower contrast, coarseness, roughness, local pixel correlation, and lower AIB1 variation, all indicating loss of textural definition. The supervised ML system revealed useful information regarding features that discriminate between 5-year survivors and non-survivors while the DL system displayed superior accuracy by employing DL features.

We report a case of a 31-year-old otherwise healthy female with pulmonary cryptococcoma along with cryptococcal meningitis due to Cryptococcus gattii molecular type VGI, in Greece. Combined antifungal treatment and surgical excision of pulmonary cryptococcoma yielded a good response.

OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study was (a) to identify, by computer processing of digitized images of hematoxylin and eosin (H&E)-stained biopsy material of the cervix, differences in the structure of nuclei between high-risk (HR) and low-risk (LR) human papillomavirus virus (HPV) types and (b) to assess the HPV risk type by designing a decision-support system (DSS). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Clinical material comprised H&E-stained biopsies from squamous intraepithelial lesions of 55 patients with polymerase chain reaction-verified HR-HPV (26 patients) or LR-HPV (29 patients) infection. From each patient's biopsy specimen, we digitized 1 region of interest, guided by the expert physician. After the segmentation of nuclei, we quantified from each nucleus 77 textural and morphologic features. We represented each patient by a 77-feature vector, the feature means of all nuclei, and we created 2 classes for HR-HPV and LR-HPV types. We carried out (a) a statistical analysis to determine features with statistically significant differences between the 2 classes and (b) a discriminant analysis, by designing a DSS, to estimate the HPV risk type. RESULTS: Statistical analysis revealed 40 features with between-classes statistically significant differences and discriminant analysis showed that the best DSS design achieved a high accuracy of about 93% in identifying the HPV risk type on data not used in the design of the DSS. CONCLUSIONS: Nuclei of HR-HPV types were of higher intensity, contained larger structures, had higher edges, were coarser, rougher, had higher contrast, were larger, and attained more irregular shapes. The proposed DSS indicates that discrimination of HPV risk type from images of H&E-stained biopsy material of the cervix is promising.

The aim of the present study was to design an adaptable pattern recognition (PR) system to discriminate low- from high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LSIL and HSIL, respectively) of the cervix using microscopy images of hematoxylin and eosin (H&E)-stained biopsy material from two different medical centers. Clinical material comprised H&E-stained biopsies of 66 patients diagnosed with LSIL (34 cases) or HSIL (32 cases). Regions of interest were selected from each patient's digitized microscopy images. Seventy-seven features were generated, regarding the texture, morphology and spatial distribution of nuclei. The probabilistic neural network (PNN) classifier, the exhaustive search feature selection method, the leave-one-out (LOO) and the bootstrap validation methods were used to design the PR system and to assess its precision. Optimal PR system design and evaluation were made feasible by the employment of graphics processing unit (GPU) and Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) technologies. The accuracy of the PR-system was 93% and 88.6% when using the LOO and bootstrap validation methods, respectively. The proposed PR system for discriminating LSIL from HSIL of the cervix was designed to operate in a clinical environment, having the capability of being redesigned when new verified cases are added to its repository and when data from other medical centers are included, following similar biopsy material preparation procedures.

BACKGROUND: Compared with angiogenesis, arteriogenesis is a distinct process based on the remodeling and maturation of pre-existing arterioles into large conductance arteries. Therapeutic angiogenesis has been proposed as a potential treatment for ischemic atherosclerotic diseases. Since a variety of angiogenic factors have been tested with inconsistent so far clinical results, the challenge remains in identifying the factor(s) that will stimulate functional neovascularization. Thrombin has been reported to play a pivotal role in the initiation of angiogenesis by regulating and organizing a network of angiogenic mediators. Also, it was recently demonstrated that thrombin is a potent anti-apoptotic factor for endothelial cells, providing evidence on a potential role of thrombin in vascular protection and maintenance of vessel integrity. Based on these observations, we hypothesized that thrombin may promote the development of mature functional blood vessels. METHODS: Seventy-four (n=74) rabbits underwent bilateral femoral artery surgical excision. On the 20th postsurgical day increasing doses of VEGF or bFGF or thrombin were injected in one ischemic limb per rabbit and an equal volume of normal saline to the contralateral control limbs. Quantification of newly developed collateral vessels (diameter >500 mum) was performed by transauricular intra-arterial subtraction angiography. Computerized quantitative analysis of collateral vessels in angiography images was based on the concept of multiscale structural tensor. Perfusion analysis of an in vivo dynamic computed tomography study was performed to investigate hemodynamic recovery of the distal ischemic limbs. Tissue perfusion analysis was performed with the semiquantitative slope methodology, which focuses on the first-pass arterial phase. RESULTS: A single administration of thrombin exhibited a dose-dependent increase of arteriogenic outcome. Thrombin at 5000 IU induced a 30.2 +/- 7.4% (P < 0.05) increase of total collateral area and length. Both VEGF and bFGF were without any significant effect at the concentrations used. Functional estimation of limb perfusion showed a statistically significant increase of blood flow recovery only for thrombin. The semiquantitative slope method perfusion score differed significantly in the 5000 IU thrombin treated limbs (5.7 +/- 0.3 vs 5.0 +/- 0.3 in control ischemic limbs; P < .05), and was not significantly inferior from the score of normal nonoperated limbs (6.5 +/- 0.3) suggesting a trend towards hemodynamic recovery of distal limb perfusion. CONCLUSIONS: In a rabbit hindlimb ischemia model, thrombin promoted the formation of large collateral vessels and improved the perfusion of distal ischemic tissue. These results provide new insights in understanding the involvement of thrombin in vascular formation and point to a novel role of thrombin in arteriogenesis.

Walker 256 (W256) cancer cells, developed as ascites in rats, in response to endogenous unidentified stimuli, secrete a gelatinase of apparent molecular mass of 94 kDa, immunologically homologous to the zymogen of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (proMMP-9). After treatment with the activating agent 4-aminophenylmercuric acetate (APMA), affinity-purified W256 gelatinase is converted to a final processed form of 66 kDa in a similar fashion to TIMP-free human proMMP-9. It is demonstrated that although being capable of binding TIMP-1, W256 proMMP-9 is secreted from W256 cells in TIMP-free forms (monomers or oligomers). Moreover, using biochemical and immunological methods, it is established that the W256 cells do not express or secrete TIMP-1 protein, although RT-PCR analysis indicated low-level TIMP-1 mRNA expression. W256 cancer cells displayed high metastatic ability in rats that may be attributed in part to secretion of TIMP-free proMMP-9.

Proteoglycans (PGs) are widely expressed in all areas of the brain. In this study, the keratan sulfate-containing PGs (KS-PGs) from cerebrum (CB), cerebellum (CL) and brainstem (BS) of young sheep brain were isolated, purified and characterized. The amount of KS-PGs in CL was significantly lower than that in CB and BS. KS-PGs were characterized by increased extent of glycosylation and heterogeneity of KS chains in CL. Western blot analyses demonstrated the presence of the KS-PGs phosphacan, SV2A and SV2B isoforms of synaptic vesicle proteoglycan in all three areas of the young sheep brain. Phosphacan predominated in BS and CB, showing significant molecular heterogeneity. SV2A and SV2B were found in two forms of high and low molecular sizes according to their extent of glycosylation in sheep brain. SV2A predominated in CL, where forms with very high molecular sizes were detected. Immunohistochemical examination revealed that SV2A was localized in the extracellular matrix of both gray and white matter. In contrast, phosphacan and SV2B were mainly localized in the white matter in all brain regions. The results of the present study demonstrated that KS-PGs are present in the three areas of the sheep brain, showing significant variations in their content, structure and localization among the distinct areas. These differences may be important for the physiology of the brain.

Sclerosing mediastinitis (SM), previously named chronic fibrosing mediastinitis, is an inflammatory process that in its end-stage results to sclerosis around the mediastinal structures. SM is quite rare and has been correlated with inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, as well as malignancy. SM may either present in a mild form, with minor symptoms and a benign course or in a more aggressive form with severe pulmonary hypertension and subsequent higher morbidity and mortality. The diagnosis of SM may be difficult and quite challenging, as symptoms depend on the mediastinal structure that is mainly involved; quite often the superior vena cava. However, practically any mediastinal structure may be involved by the fibrotic process, such as the central airways, as well as the pulmonary arteries and veins, leading to obstruction or total occlusion. The latter may be impossible to undergo proper surgical excision of the lesion, and is considered to be a real challenge to the surgeon. We herein report a case of SM that presented with arterial and venous compression. The imaging appearance was that of unilateral pulmonary edema, associated with lung collapse. The case is supplemented by a non-systematic review of the relevant literature.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to study the textural and color changes occurring in the epithelial gland tissue with advancing colorectal cancer (CRC), utilizing immunohistochemical stain for AIB1 expression biopsy material. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Clinical material comprised biopsy specimens of 67 patients with a diagnosis of CRC. Two experienced pathologists used H&E-stained material for grading CRC lesions and immunohistochemical (IHC) stain for AIB1 expression. Twenty six patients were diagnosed with grade I, 28 with grade II, and 13 with grade III CRC. Guided by pathologists, we selected the regions of interest from AIB1-digitized images of each patient, encompassing the epithelial gland, and we computed 69 features, quantifying textural and color properties of the AIB1-stained lesions. We evaluated the statistical differences between grades by means of the Wilcoxon statistical test for each feature, and we assessed changes in feature values with advancing tumor grade by means of the Point Biserial Correlation. RESULTS: Statistical analysis revealed 14 single features, quantifying textural and color properties of the epithelial gland, which sustained statistically significant differences between LG-CRC and HG-CRC cases. These features were drawn from the gray-level image histogram, the cooccurrence matrix, the run length matrix, the discrete wavelet transform, the Tamura method, and the L*a*b color transform. CONCLUSIONS: A systematic statistical analysis of AIB1-stained biopsy material showed that high-grade CRC lesions contain higher intensity levels, appear coarser, are more homogeneous with smooth variation across the image, have lower contrast that is slowly varying across the image, have lower AIB1 staining, and have lower edges. A combination of textural and color attributes, evaluating image gray-tone distribution, textural roughness, inhomogeneity, AIB1 staining, and image coarseness should be considered in evaluating AIB1-stained CRC lesions.
