RESUMO

Mountains are the world's most important centers of biodiversity. The Sino-Himalayan Mountains are global biodiversity hotspot due to their extremely high species richness and endemicity. Ample research investigated the impact of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau uplift and Quaternary glaciations in driving species diversification in plants and animals across the Sino-Himalayan Mountains. However, little is known about the role of landscape heterogeneity and other environmental features in driving diversification in this region. We utilized whole genomes and phenotypic data in combination with landscape genetic approaches to investigate population structure, demography, and genetic diversity in a forest songbird species native to the Sino-Himalayan Mountains, the red-billed leiothrix (Leiothrix lutea). We identified 5 phylogeographic clades, including 1 in the East of China, 1 in Yunnan, and 3 in Tibet, roughly consistent with differences in song and plumage coloration but incongruent with traditional subspecies boundaries. Isolation-by-resistance model best explained population differentiation within L. lutea, with extensive secondary contact after allopatric isolation leading to admixture among clades. Ecological niche modeling indicated relative stability in the extent of suitable distribution areas of the species across Quaternary glacial cycles. Our results underscore the importance of mountains in the diversification of this species, given that most of the distinct genetic clades are concentrated in a relatively small area in the Sino-Himalayan Mountain region, while a single shallow clade populates vast lower-lying areas to the east. This study highlights the crucial role of landscape heterogeneity in promoting differentiation and provides a deep genomic perspective on the mechanisms through which diversity hotspots form.

Different genomic regions may reflect conflicting phylogenetic topologies primarily due to incomplete lineage sorting and/or gene flow. Genomic data are necessary to reconstruct the true species tree and explore potential causes of phylogenetic conflict. Here, we investigate the phylogenetic relationships of 4 Emberiza species (Aves: Emberizidae) and discuss the potential causes of the observed mitochondrial non-monophyly of Emberiza godlewskii (Godlewski's bunting) using phylogenomic analyses based on whole genome resequencing data from 41 birds. Analyses based on both the whole mitochondrial genome and ~39 kilobases from the non-recombining W chromosome reveal sister relationships between each the northern and southern populations of E. godlewskii with E. cioides and E. cia, respectively. In contrast, the monophyly of E. godlewskii is reflected by the phylogenetic signal of autosomal and Z chromosomal sequence data as well as demographic inference analyses, which-in combination-support the following tree topology: ([{E. godlewskii, E. cia}, E. cioides], E. jankowskii). Using D-statistics, we detected multiple gene flow events among different lineages, indicating pervasive introgressive hybridization within this clade. Introgression from an unsampled lineage that is sister to E. cioides or introgression from an unsampled mitochondrial + W chromosomal lineage of E. cioides into northern E. godlewskii may explain the phylogenetic conflict between the species tree estimated from genome-wide data versus mtDNA/W tree topologies. These results underscore the importance of using genomic data for phylogenetic reconstruction and species delimitation.

BACKGROUND: Resolving the phylogeny of rapidly radiating lineages presents a challenge when building the Tree of Life. An Old World avian family Prunellidae (Accentors) comprises twelve species that rapidly diversified at the Pliocene-Pleistocene boundary. RESULTS: Here we investigate the phylogenetic relationships of all species of Prunellidae using a chromosome-level de novo assembly of Prunella strophiata and 36 high-coverage resequenced genomes. We use homologous alignments of thousands of exonic and intronic loci to build the coalescent and concatenated phylogenies and recover four different species trees. Topology tests show a large degree of gene tree-species tree discordance but only 40-54% of intronic gene trees and 36-75% of exonic genic trees can be explained by incomplete lineage sorting and gene tree estimation errors. Estimated branch lengths for three successive internal branches in the inferred species trees suggest the existence of an empirical anomaly zone. The most common topology recovered for species in this anomaly zone was not similar to any coalescent or concatenated inference phylogenies, suggesting presence of anomalous gene trees. However, this interpretation is complicated by the presence of gene flow because extensive introgression was detected among these species. When exploring tree topology distributions, introgression, and regional variation in recombination rate, we find that many autosomal regions contain signatures of introgression and thus may mislead phylogenetic inference. Conversely, the phylogenetic signal is concentrated to regions with low-recombination rate, such as the Z chromosome, which are also more resistant to interspecific introgression. CONCLUSIONS: Collectively, our results suggest that phylogenomic inference should consider the underlying genomic architecture to maximize the consistency of phylogenomic signal.

Construction of a high-quality charge transport layer (CTL) with intimate contact with the substrate via tailored interface engineering is crucial to increase the overall charge transfer kinetics and stability for a bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) organic solar cell (OSC). Here, we demonstrate a surface chemistry strategy to achieve a homogeneous composite hole transport layer (C-HTL) with robust substrate contact by self-assembling two-dimensional tungsten disulfide (WS2) nanosheets on a thin molybdenum oxide (MoO3) film-evaporated indium tin oxide (ITO) substrate. It is found that over such a well-defined C-HTL, WS2 is homogeneously tethered on the ITO/MoO3 substrate stemming from the strong electronic coupling interaction between the building blocks, which enables a favorable interfacial configuration in terms of uniformity. As a result, the D18:L8-BO-based OSC with C-HTL exhibits a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 19.23%, an 11% improvement over the WS2-based control device, and the highest efficiency among single-junction PEDOT-free binary BHJ OSCs.

BACKGROUND: The immunopathological mechanisms underlying neurosyphilis remain incompletely elucidated, and the diagnosis of neurosyphilis presents challenges. METHODS: We used an antibody microarray to detect 640 proteins in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples collected from 6 non-neurosyphilis and 10 neurosyphilis patients. The levels of CSF CXCL1, CXCL8, G-CSF, LCN2, MMP8, and MMP9 in 46 non-neurosyphilis, 51 untreated neurosyphilis, and 31 post-treatment neurosyphilis patients were quantified using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The associations between the levels of these proteins and clinical parameters in neurosyphilis were evaluated using Spearman's analysis, and the diagnostic performance of these proteins in neurosyphilis was assessed using receiver operating characteristic curve. RESULTS: A total of 102 differentially expressed proteins between neurosyphilis and non-neurosyphilis were identified. The levels of significantly elevated neutrophil-associated proteins (CXCL1, CXCL8, G-CSF, LCN2, MMP8, and MMP9) in neurosyphilis were positive correlations with WBC counts, RPR titer, and protein concentration in CSF. The combination of CSF CXCL8, MMP9, and LCN2 yielded an AUC of 0.92 for diagnosing neurosyphilis, surpassing that of CSF RPR. CONCLUSIONS: CXCL1, CXCL8, G-CSF, LCN2, MMP8, and MMP9 could be associated with central nervous system damage of neurosyphilis. The combination of CSF CXCL8, MMP9, and LCN2 is a promising biomarker for diagnosing neurosyphilis.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to investigate the underlying mechanisms of matricellular protein periostin (POSTN) on tumour-stroma crosstalk in the liver metastatic microenvironment of colorectal cancer (CRC). METHODS: Postn-knockout mice and hepatic Postn-overexpressing mice were used to investigate the functions of POSTN on the formation of fibrotic microenvironment and the tumour-stroma crosstalk in the liver metastatic microenvironment of CRC. Clinical samples and database were analyzed to show the correlation between POSTN expression and fibrotic features and TGF-ß signalling in metastatic livers of CRC. RESULTS: POSTN deficiency reduced hepatic stellate cell (HSC) activation and liver metastasis, whereas POSTN overexpression in the liver significantly augmented the formation of a fibrotic microenvironment to support the liver metastatic growth of CRC cells in mice. Moreover, HSC-derived POSTN promoted TGF-ß1 expression in CRC cells through the integrin/FAK/ERK/STAT3 pathway; conversely, tumour cell-derived TGF-ß1 induced POSTN expression in HSCs via the Smad pathway. POSTN levels correlated with fibrotic features and TGF-ß signalling in metastatic liver tissues of CRC patients. CONCLUSIONS: POSTN and TGF-ß1 cooperatively contribute to the tumour-stroma crosstalk by forming a supporting fibrotic microenvironment to promote liver metastasis of CRC cells via the POSTN/integrin/FAK/ERK/STAT3/TGF-ß axis in tumour cells and TGF-ß/Smad/POSTN signalling in activated HSCs.

Uranium [U(VI)] mining activity resulted in the discharge of uranium containing acid wastewater. It is necessary for immobilizing the uranium from wastewater to avoid its environmental pollution. In this work, a novel hydrothermal mineralization strategy is proposed for uranium stabilization. Three reaction systems such as Mg3(PO4)2 + UO22+, Mg2+ + PO43- + UO22+, and Mg2+ + PO43- + Mg3(PO4)2 + UO22+ were designed to investigate the uranium mineralization and stabilization performance. The consumed molar quantities of magnesium and phosphate were calculated to understand the mineralization mechanisms. The molar ratios of Mg/U and P/U in the experimental results were in agreement with those of thermodynamic calculation in the presence of dissolved Mg2+ and PO43- under the hydrothermal process. The calculated saturated index indicated the facile crystallization of uranium into the saleeite and chernikovite through hydrothermal mineralization at the pH value of 5 and 473 K. Crystallization into saleeite and chernikovite contributed to uranium stabilization, resulting in the negligible leaching rate of 5% due to the high crystallinity of 97.23%. Thus, hydrothermal mineralization of uranium crystallization into saleeite and chernikovite was promising for uranium stabilization with long-term stability.

Rare earth elements have garnered increasing attention due to their strategic properties and chronic toxicity to humans. To better understand the content, migration, and ecological risk of rare earth elements in a 180 cm depth sediment profile downstream of a decommissioned uranium hydrometallurgical site in South China, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and High-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM) were additionally used to quantify and clarify the mineral composition features. The results showed a high enrichment level of total rare earth elements in the sediment depth profile (range: 129.6-1264.3 mg/kg); the concentration variation of light rare earth elements was more dependent on depth than heavy rare earth elements. Overall, there was an obvious enrichment trend of light rare earth elements relative to heavy rare earth elements and negative anomalies of Ce and Eu. The fractionation and anomaly of rare earth elements in sediments were closely related to the formation and weathering of iron-bearing minerals and clay minerals, as confirmed by the correlation analysis of rare earth elements with Fe (r2 = 0.77-0.90) and Al (r2 = 0.50-0.71). The mineralogical composition of sediments mainly consisted of quartz, feldspar, magnetite, goethite, and hematite. Pollution assessment based on the potential ecological risk index, pollution load index (PLI), enrichment factor, and geological accumulation index (Igeo) showed that almost all the sediments had varying degrees of pollution and a high level of ecological risk. This study implied that continued environmental supervision and management are needed to secure the ecological health in terms of rare earth elements enrichment around a decommissioned uranium hydrometallurgical site. The findings may provide valuable insights for other uranium mining and hydrometallurgical areas globally.

With the rapid development of sports science and molecular biology technology, academia refers to molecules or microorganisms that mimic or enhance the beneficial effects of exercise on the body, called "exercise mimetics." This review aims to clarify the concept and development history of exercise mimetics, and to define the concept of exercise mimetics by summarizing its characteristics and functions. Candidate molecules and drug targets for exercise mimetics are summarized, and the relationship between exercise mimetics and exercise is explained, as well as the targeting system and function of exercise mimetics. The main targeting systems for exercise mimetics are the exercise system, circulatory system, endocrine system, endocrine system, and nervous system, while the immune system is potential targeting systems. Finally, future research directions for exercise mimetics are discussed.

Mg alloy AZ31B was directly bonded to SK7 with a low alloy content, DP980 with a high Mn content, 316L with a high Cr and high Ni content by laser-gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and hybrid direct lap welding. The results showed that the tensile loads of AZ31B/SK7 and AZ31B/DP980 joints were 283 N/mm and 285 N/mm respectively, while the tensile load of AZ31B/316L joint was only 115 N/mm. The fracture and interface microstructures were observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron probe microanalysis (EPMA), and identified through X-ray diffractometry (XRD). For AZ31B/SK7 and AZ31B/DP980, the interface of the front reaction area and the keyhole reaction area was mainly composed of an Fe-Al phase and an Al-Mn phase. However, for AZ31B/316L, the interface of the keyhole reaction area was mainly composed of an Fe-Al phase and an Al-Mn phase, but a multi-layer composite structure consisting of the Mg17Al12 compound layer and eutectic layer was formed in the front reaction area, which led to a deterioration in the joint property. The influencing mechanism of Mn, Cr and Ni elements in steel on the properties and interface structure of the laser-GTAW lap joint between the Mg alloy and the steel was systematically analyzed.

Water/alcohol-soluble cathode interlayers are widely utilized in organic electronic devices. However, the mechanism by which acetic acid (AcOH) facilitates the solubility of neutral cathode interlayers in water/alcohol remains unclear. This paper focuses on the AcOH-induced dissolution mechanism of neutral cathode interlayer materials and establishes quantitative relationships for chemical reactions. It was found that AcOH could react acid-base with the amino groups of PFN or PDIN, resulting in the formation of trace amounts of quaternary ammonium salts, which ultimately enhance the solubility of PFN and PDIN in methanol. Additionally, this study clarifies the debate about the role of neutral cathode interlayers in organic electronic devices: It is primarily the unprotonated groups of water/alcohol-soluble cathode interlayers that play a critical role in interfacial modification rather than the protonated groups produced by postacid reaction, which lays an important theoretical foundation for the development of high-performance interfacial materials.

BACKGROUND: This retrospective study evaluated the outcomes of patients undergoing one-stage resection of VII/VIII schwannomas and hemihypoglossal-facial neurorrhaphy via the translabyrinthine approach (TLA). METHODS: The study encompassed ten consecutive patients with unilateral hearing loss (six women, four men, mean age: 49.5 ± 12.1 years) who underwent surgery. The cohort included two patients with vestibular schwannomas (VSs), four with facial nerve schwannomas (FNSs) (two originating from the geniculate ganglion of the facial nerve and two from the cerebellopontine angle), one with VS regrowth, and three with residual VSs. Preoperative facial nerve function, assessed using the House-Brackmann (HB) scale, was Grade V in one and Grade VI in nine patients. The mean preoperative duration of facial paralysis was 7.5 ± 6.9 months. RESULTS: All patients underwent gross total resection. Postoperatively, one patient experienced cerebrospinal fluid leaks, which were successfully managed with lumbar drains and surgical revisions. At follow-up, facial nerve function improved in all patients: HB Grade V to III in one, HB Grade VI to III in one, HB Grade VI to IV in seven, and Grade VI to V in one. No tumor recurrence was observed during the follow-up period (mean duration: 16.6 ± 9.3 months), and no patient had hemilingual atrophy. CONCLUSION: The TLA for one-stage resection of VII/VIII schwannomas and facial nerve reconstruction is effective in treating both regrowth and residual VSs and FNSs in the cerebellopontine angle or petrosal bone in patients with severe preoperative facial palsy. This technique facilitates simultaneous tumor removal and nerve anastomosis, thereby reducing the need for multiple surgical interventions in patients with hearing loss and compromised facial nerve function.

Phenotypic plasticity facilitates organismal invasion of novel environments, and the resultant phenotypic change may later be modified by genetic change, so called 'plasticity first.' Herein, we quantify gene expression plasticity and regulatory adaptation in a wild bird (Eurasian Tree Sparrow) from its original lowland (ancestral stage), experimentally implemented hypoxia acclimation (plastic stage), and colonized highland (colonized stage). Using a group of co-expressed genes from the cardiac and flight muscles, respectively, we demonstrate that gene expression plasticity to hypoxia tolerance is more often reversed than reinforced at the colonized stage. By correlating gene expression change with muscle phenotypes, we show that colonized tree sparrows reduce maladaptive plasticity that largely associated with decreased hypoxia tolerance. Conversely, adaptive plasticity that is congruent with increased hypoxia tolerance is often reinforced in the colonized tree sparrows. Genes displaying large levels of reinforcement or reversion plasticity (i.e. 200% of original level) show greater genetic divergence between ancestral and colonized populations. Overall, our work demonstrates that gene expression plasticity at the initial stage of high-elevation colonization can be reversed or reinforced through selection-driven adaptive modification.

A strain of Leuconostoc mesenteroides HDE-8 was isolated from homemade longan fermentation broth. The exopolysaccharide (EPS) yield of the strain was 25.1 g/L. The EPS was isolated and purified, and the structure was characterized using various techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, high-performance size exclusion chromatography (HPSEC), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The monosaccharide composition of the EPS was glucose, with a molecular weight (Mw) of 1.7 × 106 Da. NMR spectroscopy revealed that the composition of the HDE-8 EPS consisted of D-glucose pyranose linked by α-(1→4) and α-(1→6) bonds. The SEM analysis of the EPS showed an irregular sheet-like structure. Physicochemical analysis demonstrated that EPSs exhibit excellent thermal stability and high viscosity, making them suitable for fermentation in heat-processed and acidic foods. Additionally, milk coagulation tests showed that the presence of EPSs promotes milk coagulation when supplemented with sucrose. It suggests that EPSs have wide-ranging potential applications as food additives, improving the texture and taste of dairy products. This study provides practical guidance for the commercial use of HDE-8 EPSs in the food and related industries.

Conjugated polymers (CPs) have promising applications in biomedical fields, such as disease monitoring, real-time imaging diagnosis, and disease treatment. As a promising luminescent material with tunable emission, high brightness and excellent stability, CPs are widely used as fluorescent probes in biological detection and imaging. Rational molecular design and structural optimization have broadened absorption/emission range of CPs, which are more conductive for disease diagnosis and precision therapy. This review provides a comprehensive overview of recent advances in the application of CPs, aiming to elucidate their structural and functional relationships. The fluorescence properties of CPs and the mechanism of detection signal amplification are first discussed, followed by an elucidation of their emerging applications in biological detection. Subsequently, CPs-based imaging systems and therapeutic strategies are illustrated systematically. Finally, recent advancements in utilizing CPs as electroactive materials for bioelectronic devices are also investigated. Moreover, the challenges and outlooks of CPs for precision medicine are discussed. Through this systematic review, it is hoped to highlight the frontier progress of CPs and promote new breakthroughs in fundamental research and clinical transformation.

To investigate the differential immunology in Ningxiang and Berkshire pigs and their F1 offspring (F1 offspring), physiological and biochemical indicators in the plasma and spleen were analyzed. Then, transcriptomic analysis of the spleen identified 1348, 408, and 207 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in comparisons of Ningxiang vs. Berkshire, Berkshire vs. F1 offspring, and Ningxiang vs. F1 offspring, respectively. In Ningxiang vs. Berkshire pigs, the gene ontology (GO) and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis indicated that the DEGs included CD163, MARCO, CXCL14, CCL19, and PPBP, which are associated with immunity. GO and KEGG analyses were also conducted comparing F1 offspring and their parents. The DEGs, including BPIFB1, HAVCR2, CD163, DDX3X, CCR5, and ITGB3, were enriched in immune-related pathways. Protein-protein interaction (PPI) analysis indicated that the EGFR and ITGA2 genes were key hub genes. In conclusion, this study identifies significant immune DEGs in different pig breeds, providing data to support the exploration of breeding strategies for disease resistance in local and crossbred pig populations.

Background and objective: After vestibular schwannoma (VS) surgery, some patients exhibit different degrees of peripheral facial paralysis, which can seriously affect their quality of life. The recovery of facial nerve function after surgery typically takes a considerable amount of time; therefore, the recovery of facial nerve function depends mainly on the rehabilitation treatment and nursing after discharge. In the past, we implemented conventional paralysis rehabilitation nursing program for patients with facial paralysis due to VS surgery. However, several patients with facial paralysis have bad compliance and do not achieve ideal facial nerve function recovery. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate whether modified facial paralysis rehabilitation nursing improves the effectiveness of rehabilitation of facial paralysis after VS surgery by analysing the clinical data of patients. Methods: We screened the patients with facial paralysis after VS surgery from December 2019 to May 2023. The patients were divided into the conventional and modified groups based on the different nursing programs (conventional vs. modified facial paralysis rehabilitation nursing program) to compare the differences in facial nerve function, quality of life of patients, and compliance of rehabilitation between the two groups. Results: We analysed 128 patients with facial paralysis after VS surgery who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria; 65 and 63 patients in the conventional and modified group, respectively. The number of patients in the modified group with House-Brackmann grade changes >0 in facial nerve function was significantly higher than that in the conventional group 3 months after surgery (82.5 % vs 63.1 %, p = 0.01). Except for the lacrimal control score, the mean scores of the Chinese version of the FaCE scale were significantly higher in the modified group than those in the conventional group at 1 and 3 months postoperatively. Conclusions: The modified facial paralysis rehabilitation nursing, i.e., integrated use of facial expressive muscle exercises and facial massage with video-assisted education, substantially improved the facial nerve function, quality of life, and compliance of rehabilitation nursing of patients with facial paralysis after VS surgery.

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are widely used due to their unique antibacterial properties and excellent photoelectric properties. Wastewater treatment plants form a pool of AgNPs due to the social cycle of wastewater. During biological treatment processes, the particle size and stability of AgNPs change. We studied the particle size changes and stability of silver nanoparticles in the presence of bovine serum albumin (BSA) and humic acid (HA). The experimental results indicated that silver nanoparticles can complex with the functional groups in BSA. For AgNP-BSA composites, as the BSA concentration increases, the size of the silver nanoparticles first decreases and then increases. AgNPs can combine with the amide, amino, and carboxyl groups in HA. As the concentration of HA increases, the particle size and large particle size distribution of AgNPs increase. This increasing trend is more obvious when the HA concentration is lower than 20 mg L-1. When HA and BSA exist at the same time, HA will occupy the adsorption sites of BSA on the surface of AgNPs, and the AgNP-HA complex will dominate the system. This study aims to provide key operational control strategies for the process operation of wastewater treatment plants containing AgNPs and theoretical support for promoting water environment improvement and economic development such as tourism.

Endotherms recently expanding to cold environments generally exhibit strong physiological acclimation to sustain high body temperature. During this process, gut microbes likely play a considerable role in host physiological functions, including digestion and thermogenesis. The light-vented bulbul Pycnonotus sinensis represents one such species. It used to be restricted to the Oriental realm but expanded its distribution range north to the Palearctic areas during the past few decades. Here, we explored the seasonal dynamics of the resting metabolic rate (RMR) and microbiota for local and newly colonized populations of the species. Our results showed that the mass-adjusted RMR and body mass were positively correlated with latitude variations in both seasons. Consistently, the gut microbiota showed a corresponding variation to the northern cold environments. In the two northern populations, the alpha diversity decreased compared with those of the two southern populations. Significant differences were detected in dominant phyla, such as Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, Proteobacteria, and Desulfobacterota in both seasons. The core microbiota showed geographic differences in the winter, including the elevated relative abundance of 5 species in northern populations. Finally, to explore the link between microbial communities and host metabolic thermogenesis, we conducted a correlation analysis between microbiota and mass-adjusted RMR. We found that more genera were significantly correlated with mass-adjusted RMR in the wintering season compared to the breeding season (71 vs. 23). These results suggest that microbiota of the lighted-vented bulbul linked with thermogenesis in diversity and abundance under northward expansion.

Liver regeneration is a complex process involving the crosstalk between parenchymal and non-parenchymal cells, especially macrophages. However, the underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Here, we identify the E3 ubiquitin ligase TRIM26 as a crucial regulator of liver regeneration. Following partial hepatectomy or acute liver injury induced by carbon tetrachloride, Trim26 knockout mice exhibit enhanced hepatocyte proliferation compared to wild-type controls, while adeno-associated virus (AAV)-mediated overexpression of Trim26 reverses the promotional effects. Mechanistically, Trim26 deficiency promotes the recruitment of macrophages to the liver and their polarization towards pro-inflammatory M1 phenotype. These M1 macrophages secrete Wnts, including Wnt2, which subsequently stimulate hepatocyte proliferation through the activation of Wnt/ß-catenin signaling. In hepatocytes, Trim26 knockdown reduces the ubiquitination and degradation of ß-catenin, thereby further enhancing Wnt/ß-catenin signaling. Pharmacological inhibition of Wnt/ß-catenin pathway by ICG-001 or depletion of macrophages by clodronate liposomes diminishes the pro-regenerative effects of Trim26 deficiency. Moreover, bone marrow transplantation experiments provide evidence that Trim26 knockout in myeloid cells alone can also promote liver regeneration, highlighting the critical role of macrophage Trim26 in this process. Taken together, our study uncovers TRIM26 as a negative regulator of liver regeneration by modulating macrophage polarization and Wnt/ß-catenin signaling in hepatocytes, providing a potential therapeutic target for promoting liver regeneration in clinical settings.
