RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the clinical manifestations, endoscopic characteristics, and prognostic factors of patients with colorectal extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma. Methods: The clinical data of 52 patients with colorectal extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2013 to January 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Their clinical manifestations and endoscopic characteristics were summarized, and the prognostic factors were analyzed by Cox regression model. Results: Among the 52 patients with colorectal extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma, there were 35 males and 17 females, with a male-to-female ratio of 2.06∶1. Among the general symptoms, abdominal pain was the most common (39 cases), and B symptoms occurred in 47 patients, among which fever was the most common lymphoma B symptom (42 cases), and gastrointestinal perforation was the most common complication (18 cases). Forty-three patients underwent colonoscopy, and the main manifestations under endoscopy were the ulceration type (24 cases). The ulcers were irregular at the edges and often covered with moss at the bottom. The median survival time was 4.3 months. Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that hemocytic syndrome (HR=8.50,95% CI: 1.679-8.328,P=0.001), serum albumin (HR=3.59,95% CI: 1.017-6.551, P=0.048), and with or without chemotherapy (HR=0.31, 95% CI: 0.246-1.061, P=0.025) were independent factors influencing the overall survival of patients with colorectal extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma. Conclusions: Colorectal extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma is a rare disease with a very poor prognosis. When patients present with abdominal pain and lymphoma B symptoms, and when ulcers with irregular edges and moss covering the bottom are found under endoscopy, the disease should be considered, and endoscopic biopsy should be taken in time for pathological diagnosis. The prognosis of patients with hemophagocytic syndrome and hypoproteinemia is poor. This disease should be treated with chemotherapy and surgery, and on this basis, hemophagocytic syndrome and hypoproteinemia should be treated to improve the prognosis of patients.

RESUMO

ABSTRACTThe COVID-19 pandemic and measures against it provided a unique opportunity to understand the transmission of other infectious diseases and to evaluate the efficacy of COVID-19 prevention measures on them. Here we show a dengue epidemic in Yunnan, China, during the pandemic of COVID-19 was dramatically reduced compared to non-pandemic years and, importantly, spread was confined to only one city, Ruili. Three key features characterized this dengue outbreak: (i) the urban-to-suburban spread was efficiently blocked; (ii) the scale of epidemic in urban region was less affected; (iii) co-circulation of multiple strains was attenuated. These results suggested that countermeasures taken during COVID-19 pandemic are efficient to prevent dengue transmission between cities and from urban to suburban, as well to reduce the co-circulation of multiple serotypes or genotypes. Nevertheless, as revealed by the spatial analysis, once the dengue outbreak was established, its distribution was very stable and resistant to measures against COVID-19, implying the possibility to develop a precise prediction method.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the possible role and mechanism of lncRNA ZEB2-AS1 in the pathogenesis of colon cancer (CCa). PATIENTS AND METHODS: The expression level of ZEB2-AS1 in 41 colon cancer tissue samples and 25 normal tissues was detected by qRT-PCR, and appropriate colon cancer cell lines were screened for in vitro experiments. Subcellular localization of ZEB2-AS1 was examined. After ZEB2-AS1 was transfected into colon cancer cells by liposome method, the cell proliferation, migration ability, and cell apoptosis percentage were evaluated by CCK-8 test, transwell assay, and flow cytometry, respectively. In addition, bioinformatics was applied to detect the target genes of microRNA-188. The Luciferase gene reporter assay was then performed to analyze the relative activity of Luciferase between microRNA-188 and TAB3 or ZEB2-AS1. At the same time, the control sequence, microRNA-188 mimics, microRNA-188 mimics+ ZEB2-AS1, si-TAB3, and microRNA-188 inhibitor+ si-TAB3 were respectively transfected into cells to further verify the interaction between TAB3 and microRNA-188 or ZEB2-AS1. Besides, the glucose and lactate levels were measured to explore their roles in glycolysis. RESULTS: The expression of ZEB2-AS1 in colon cancer tissues and cells was significantly higher than that in normal ones, and ZEB2-AS1 was confirmed to be mostly located in the cytoplasm. In addition, ZEB2-AS1 overexpression could enhance the cell proliferation rate and migration ability as well as reduce the cell apoptosis, which could be reversed by microRNA-188 overexpression. In addition, bioinformatics prediction and Dual-Luciferase reporter assays revealed that ZEB2-AS1 could bind to microRNA-188, which could directly target TAB3. At the same time, it was found that the overexpression of ZEB2-AS1 and low expression of microRNA-188 promoted glycolysis, while the opposite result was observed after overexpression of microRNA-188 and low expression of TAB3. CONCLUSIONS: The expression of ZEB2-AS1 is significantly increased in colon cancer tissues and cells, which can promote the proliferation, migration, and promote apoptosis of colon cancer cells. It may be involved in the development of this cancer through the process of glycolysis regulated by microRNA-188/TAB3.

RESUMO

Tumours of mice are induced by administration of Inj. Hydroxyprogesteroni Caproatis Co. (EP) in a practical subthreshold dose of carcinogenesis or 2.5-5 times the human contraceptive dose (simply referred to as 2.5- to 5-fold dose) combined with whole-body 0.5 Gy gamma-ray irradiation. Malignant transformation of Syrian golden hamster embryo (SHE) cells is also induced by 5-fold dose of EP combined with 0.3 Gy gamma-ray irradiation in vitro, thereby indicating that synergistic carcinogenesis can be obtained by combined use of physical and chemical carcinogens. The mechanisms of synergistic carcinogenesis have been further explained by cytogenetics, damage extent of the target cell DNA and production of free radicals. The Chinese traditional medicine with antioxidating effect (Sulekang Capsule, SC), food additive--butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and green tea can effectively inhibit the carcinogenic effect of EP or EP combined with gamma rays in mice. They all have marked ability to scavenge or remove the free radicals and thereby reduce the DNA damage.

RESUMO

Clinical data of 192 patients with breast cancer with a primary lesion of 2-5 cm (stage II according to the criteria recommended by the UICC) and with histopathologically confirmed positive axillary lymph nodes were analyzed. The patients were divided into three groups: 1) surgical excision alone; 2) surgery plus irradiation; and 3) surgery plus chemotherapy. It was shown that the 5-year survival rates for these groups were 40.5%, 61.0%, and 62.0%, respectively (P less than .05).
