Objective:

To determine the epidemiological and reproductive risk factors for pre-eclampsia with severity criteria in patients treated at the Hospital Nacional Hipólito Unánue 2019.

Methodology:

Observational, retrospective and analytical case-control study. The population was made up of 174 pregnant women with preeclampsia according to the diagnostic criteria of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG, 2019), which were distributed in cases (n = 87) and controls (n = 87) according to the presence or absence of severity criteria. respectively. Univariate statistics were used and the bivariate analysis was performed with the Chi-square test (95% confidence level), which added the Odds Ratio (ORs).

Results:

The mean age was 28.8 ± 6.4. Regarding obstetric characteristics, it stands out that the majority had a long intergenetic period (21.7%), they were nulliparous (40.8%), were controlled (62.1%) and had pre-pregnancy obesity (44.8%). The criteria The most prevalent severities were BP> 160/110 mmHg (27.6%) and elevation of transaminases (19.5%). Of the epidemiological factors, only maternal age> 35 years was risk factor for preeclampsia with severity criteria (OR = 2.16; 95% CI 1.02-4.54; p = 0.039). Of the reproductive factors, only gestational diabetes increased almost nine times the probabilities of presenting pre-eclampsia with severity criteria (OR = 8.70; 95% CI 1.06-71.20; p = 0.039). In addition, severe forms of preeclampsia were associated with the route of delivery (p = 0.000) and neonatal weight (p = 0.045).

Conclusions:

gestational diabetes mellitus and elderly maternal age are the only risk factors for preeclampsia with criteria of severity. (AU)
