OBJECTIVE: A biomaterial is any non-pharmaceutical substance or a mixture of synthetic or natural substances used independently or as part of a system for any amount of time with the aim of mending, supporting the growth, or replacing tissues, organs, or functions of the body. It is a non-renewable material that interacts with biological systems. The purpose of this study was to assess the advances in ceramic biomaterials and perform a bibliometric mapping of the literature on the subject. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The Scopus database was used for manuscript screening (Elsevier, Amsterdam, The Netherlands). The effect of the scientific production has been assessed using scientometric citational metrics. RESULTS: A total of 2,554 pieces of literature, including 2,234 papers, 170 conference proceedings, 109 reviews, 35 book chapters, 3 editorial letters, and 3 short surveys, were retrieved. Based on the research conducted, it is noted that ceramic materials are high-performing by being porous or glassy and can, therefore, serve as fillers, covering materials, and scaffolds in medicine and biotechnology. They are frequently employed not only in orthopedic and maxillofacial surgery but also in dentistry for dental prostheses. CONCLUSIONS: Materials monitoring methods enable us to track the three-dimensional evolution of ceramics' volume, as well as flaws or micro-cracks.

Background: Increasing evidence suggests a close association between the intestinal microbiome and the respiratory system, drawing attention to studying the gut-lung axis. This research employs bibliometric methods to conduct a visual analysis of literature in the field of intestinal microbiota and lung diseases over the past two decades. It offers scientific foundations for research directions and critical issues in this field. Methods: We retrieved all articles on intestinal microbiota and lung diseases from the SCI-Expanded of WoSCC on October 25, 2023. The analysis included original articles and reviews published in English from 2011 to 2023. We utilized Python, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace to analyze the retrieved data visually. Results: A total of 794 publications were analyzed. China ranked first in the number of publications, while the United States had the highest citations and H-index. Jian Wang was the most prolific author. Zhejiang University was the institution with the highest number of publications. Frontiers in Microbiology was the journal with the most publications. Author keywords appearing more than 100 times included "intestinal microbiota/microbiome", "microbiota/microbiome", and "gut-lung axis". Conclusion: The correlation and underlying mechanisms between intestinal microbiota and lung diseases, including asthma, COPD, lung cancer, and respiratory infections, remain hot topics in research. However, understanding the mechanisms involving the gut-lung axis is still in its infancy and requires further elucidation.

In recent years, with the introduction of the concept of lumbar non-fusion, the interspinous device has emerged. The purpose of this study is to bibliometrically analyze the state, areas of interest, and emerging trends in the usage of interspinous devices for the treatment of lumbar degeneration disease, as well as related research fields. Between January 1, 2000 and June 14, 2023, a comprehensive collection of publications on the topic of interspinous devices in the treatment of lumbar degenerative disease (IDTLDD) was procured from the Web of Science. A bibliometric analysis and visualization were subsequently conducted, utilizing various tools including HisCite, VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and bibliometrix package. This process involved the gathering of data on the country, institution, author, journal, reference, and keywords. A comprehensive analysis of 401 publications sourced from 149 journals was conducted, with 1718 authors affiliated with 1188 institutes across 240 countries/regions. Notably, the United States emerged as the leading contributor with 134 published articles on interspinous devices in the treatment of lumbar degenerative disease (33.42%). The most productive institution was Capital Medical University, with (10, 2.49%) publications. The author with the highest publication output was Block, Jon E, with 10 publications. European Spine Journal demonstrated the highest level of productivity, with a publication of (n = 39, 9.73%). The term "X-Stop" was the most frequently utilized keyword, followed by "Lumbar spinal stenosis." The study identified various topics of current interest, such as "Invasive decompression" and "Coflex." The present study provides a comprehensive survey of research trends and developments in the application of interspinous device for the treatment of lumbar degenerative diseases, including relevant research findings and collaborative efforts among authors, institutions, and countries.

BACKGROUND: Telenursing is receiving extensive attention from scholars and medical staff. However, there are few studies on the knowledge structure of telenursing for elderly individuals with chronic diseases. This study aims to demonstrate current research status and development trend of telenursing for elderly individuals with chronic diseases through a visual analysis of CiteSpace, so as to provide a more comprehensive perspective for future researches. METHODS: Literature about telenursing for elderly patients with chronic diseases from 2002 to 2022 was retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection using CiteSpace 6.1.R3. RESULTS: A total of 375 records were obtained. Annual publication and citation frequency gradually increased over the investigated period, reaching a peak in 2022. Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare was the most prolific and the most cited journal. The United States was the most productive country, the University of Melbourne was the most productive institution, and the author CHEN C ranked the highest in the number of publications. The most popular keywords were "care," "telemedicine," "management," "older adult," "chronic disease," "health," and "heart failure," which had a high frequency and centrality. The keywords "telehealth," "randomized controlled trail," "chronic obstructive pulmonary disease," "implementation" and "time" showed the strongest citation burst. The keywords were clustered to form 10 labels. The article published in 2010 by Chaudhry SI was cited the most. The top 3 cited journals were all special journal of telemedicine. CONCLUSION: This study revealed current research status and development trend of telenursing for elderly individuals with chronic diseases. The bibliometric analysis of telenursing expands the knowledge field of telemedicine and provides new insights into the management of elderly patients with chronic diseases.

Objectives: The purpose of this research is to summarize the structure of radiomics-based knowledge and to explore potential trends and priorities by using bibliometric analysis. Methods: Select radiomics-related publications from 2012 to October 2022 from the Science Core Collection Web site. Use VOSviewer (version 1.6.18), CiteSpace (version 6.1.3), Tableau (version 2022), Microsoft Excel and Rstudio's free online platforms (http://bibliometric.com) for co-writing, co-citing, and co-occurrence analysis of countries, institutions, authors, references, and keywords in the field. The visual analysis is also carried out on it. Results: The study included 6428 articles. Since 2012, there has been an increase in research papers based on radiomics. Judging by publications, China has made the largest contribution in this area. We identify the most productive institutions and authors as Fudan University and Tianjie. The top three magazines with the most publications are《FRONTIERS IN ONCOLOGY》, 《EUROPEAN RADIOLOGY》, and 《CANCERS》. According to the results of reference and keyword analysis, "deep learning, nomogram, ultrasound, f-18-fdg, machine learning, covid-19, radiogenomics" has been determined as the main research direction in the future. Conclusion: Radiomics is in a phase of vigorous development with broad prospects. Cross-border cooperation between countries and institutions should be strengthened in the future. It can be predicted that the development of deep learning-based models and multimodal fusion models will be the focus of future research. Advances in knowledge: This study explores the current state of research and hot spots in the field of radiomics from multiple perspectives, comprehensively, and objectively reflecting the evolving trends in imaging-related research and providing a reference for future research.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this research is to further understand the research status and summarize the research hotspots of sleep disorder and cancer, so as to provide insights into future researches. METHODS: In this research, the publications pertaining to sleep disorders and cancer from 1992 to 2022 was retrieved from SCIE and SSCI databases in the Web of Science Core Collection. The subject, journal, country/regions, institutions, author, and citations of publications were descriptively analyzed and visual analysis. RESULTS: From 1992 to December 2022, a total of 732 relevant literatures were retrieved from WOS SCIE and SSCI databases, the number of publications showed an increasing trend year by year. These articles were published in 252 journals, and the three most productive journals included Supportive Care in Cancer (80 publications), Psycho-oncology (32 publications), and Journal of Pain and Symptom Management (32 publications). The three most productive countries included the USA (367 publications, 50.1%), China (133 publications, 18.2%), and Canada (97 publications, 13.25%), with total citations of 12,684, 1866, and 5263. The three latest hot keywords in this field were sleep duration, validity, and inflammation. CONCLUSION: The USA, China, and Canada produced a lot of literature in the research field of sleep disorders and cancer, and had relatively great academic influence from 1992 to 2022. Researchers could pay more attention to the published in journals such as Journal of Clinical Oncology, Sleep, and Supportive Care in Cancer to timely grasp the latest progress and expand the breadth and depth in this area. Looking at the history of tumor and sleep disorder research in the past 20 years, the clinical treatment of sleep disorder caused by tumor and the direct bidirectional mechanism of the two may be a new focus of future research.

Purpose: As a common male disease, erectile dysfunction (ED) seriously affects the physical and mental health of patients. In recent years, studies have continued to point out the great potential of stem cell therapy (SCT) in the treatment of ED. The purpose of this study is to comprehensively analyze the research of SCT for ED and understand the development trends and research frontiers in this field. Methods: Publications regarding SCT and ED were retrieved and collected from the Web of Science Core Collection. CiteSpace and VOSviewer software were then utilized for bibliometric and visualization analysis. Results: A total of 524 publications were eventually included in this study. The annual number of publications in this field was increasing year by year. China and the USA were the two most productive countries. Lin GT, Lue TF and Lin CS, and the University of California San Francisco where they worked were the most productive research group and institution, respectively. The journal with the largest number of publications was The Journal of Sexual Medicine, and the following were mostly professional journals of urology and andrology. Diabetes mellitus-induced ED and cavernous nerve injury-related ED were the two most commonly constructed models of ED in studies. Concerning the types of stem cells, mesenchymal stem cells derived from adipose and bone marrow were most frequently used. Moreover, future research would mainly focus on exosomes, tissue engineering technology, extracorporeal shockwave therapy, and clinical translation. Conclusion: The research of SCT for ED will receive increasing global attention in the future. Our study provided bibliometric and visualization analysis of published literature, helping researchers understand the global landscape and frontiers in this field. More preclinical and clinical studies should be conducted to more deeply explore the underlying mechanisms of treatment and promote clinical translation.

INTRODUCTION: Social robots including telepresence robots have emerged as potential support in dementia care. However, the effectiveness of these robots hinges significantly on their design and utility. These elements are often best understood by their end-users. Codesign involves collaborating directly with the end-users of a product during its development process. Engaging people with dementia in the design of social robots ensures that the products cater to their unique requirements, preferences, challenges, and needs. The objective of this scoping review is to understand the facilitators, barriers, and strategies in codesigning social robots with older adults with dementia. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: The scoping review will follow the Joanna Briggs Institute scoping review methodology and will be conducted from November 2023 to April 2024. The steps of search strategy will involve identifying keywords and index terms from CINAHL and PubMed, completing search using identified keywords and index terms across selected databases (Medline, CINAHL, PubMed, AgeLine, Web of Science, PsycINFO, Scopus, IEEE, and Google Scholar), and hand-searching the reference lists from chosen literature for additional literature. The grey literature will be searched using Google. Three research assistants will screen the titles and abstracts independently by referring to the inclusion criteria. Three researchers will independently assess the full text of literature following to the inclusion criteria. The data will be presented in a table with narratives that answers the questions of the scoping review. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: This scoping review does not require ethics approval because it collects data from publicly available resources. The findings will offer insights to inform future research and development of robots through collaboration with older people with dementia. In addition, the scoping review results will be disseminated through conference presentations and an open-access publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

BACKGROUND: The evidence base for schema therapy has evolved significantly since it was first developed by Jeffrey Young in the 1990s. The aim of this bibliometric analysis was to summarize the trends and characteristics of the quantitative literature on schema therapy. METHOD: PsycINFO, PubMed and CINAHL Complete databases were last searched on 1 June 2023 following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses 2020 statement to identify peer-reviewed journal articles written in English that reported on original quantitative research on schema therapy or schema therapy constructs. NVivo was used to complete a descriptive analysis of the bibliographic, sample and study characteristics, and a coding framework was applied to capture the aspect of the schema therapy model that was the focus of each study, as well as the study context (e.g., the population or outcomes under investigation). SciVal was used to complete citations and authorship analyses. VOSviewer was used to examine co-authorship networks. RESULTS: A total of 704 quantitative studies on schema therapy were published by 483 unique first authors between 1994 and mid-2023. Studies predominantly used correlational designs with small samples (Mdn N = 153) of mostly females aged 18 years or older. The articles tended to focus on early maladaptive schemas, rather than schema domains or schema modes. Schema therapy and its concepts were most frequently studied in the context of depression and personality disorders. SciVal analyses indicated that, on average, articles were cited 27 times, with a Field Weighted Citation Impact of 1.02. CONCLUSIONS: Schema therapy research output appears to have slowed in recent years and several critical research gaps were evident. Areas of high priority for future research include schema modes and coping responses, and the use of developmental and longitudinal designs to evaluate several key causal assumptions in the theory underpinning schema therapy.

BACKGROUND: As the dissemination of scientific knowledge pervades social media, appraising impact with traditional bibliometrics led to the creation of alternative metrics, termed altmetrics. Lacking existent foot and ankle surgery literature altmetric analysis, we analyzed the 10 most-cited articles in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association (JAPMA) and The Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery (JFAS) in 2013 and 2017. METHODS: Citation count, Altmetric Attention Score (AAS), Mendeley Reads, and professional society-affiliated Twitter ages were collected and analyzed with descriptive statistics. Pearson correlation coefficient identified relationships between traditional and nontraditional metrics. RESULTS: The 40 articles showed a high median and large range in total citations for JAPMA (13.5 [range, 5-27]) and JFAS (28 [range, 5-69]). Media AAS Mendeley Reads also showed a high median with wide range for both JAPMA (32.5 [range, 0-135]) and JFAS (25 [range, 0-113)]. No significant correlation between total citations and AAS was seen in 2013 (r = -0.205; P = .388) or 2017 (r = -0.029; P = .903). The correlation between total citation count and Mendeley reads was significant in 2017 (r = 0.646; P = .002) but not in 2013 (r = -0.078; P = .744). Although cumulative AAS increased from 2013 to 2017 by 68.75%, with Twitter contributing most to both periods, there existed no significant correlation with Twitter age and the correlation coefficient between AAS and total citations (r = 0.655; P = .173). CONCLUSIONS: The results of this investigation show the utility and predictivity of alternative metrics in complementing traditional bibliometrics and encourage the promotion of publications through journal-specific social media.

INTRODUCTION: This study aimed to examine important points of focus, trends, and depth of research on non-pharmacological interventions for the management of labor pain worldwide from a macro perspective and present an extensive definition of research fields regarding non-pharmacological interventions. METHODS: Bibliometric methods were used in this study. With comprehensive keyword lists, the Web of Science and PubMed databases were searched using different screening strategies for publications made until 25 February 2023. RESULTS: Studies on non-pharmacological interventions in the management of labor pain have continued to develop since 2003 with great momentum. In this study, the most productive country in research on non-pharmacological interventions was found to be Iran, while Australia, the USA, China, and the United Kingdom were the most notable ones in terms of collaboration. The most prevalently studied non-pharmacological interventions were hydrotherapy and acupuncture. The results of the co-word analysis revealed 5 main themes about this field of research. CONCLUSION: The results of this study showed that interest in studies on non-pharmacological interventions in the management of labor pain has increased, the quality of research in the field is high, international collaboration is increasingly higher, and technological approaches have started to emerge in relevant studies.

Background: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) followed by radical cystectomy (RC) remains the cornerstone of treatment for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC). While platinum-based regimens have demonstrated benefits in tumor downstaging and improved long-term survival for selected patients, they may pose risks for those who are ineligible or unresponsive to chemotherapy. Objective: We undertook a bibliometric analysis to elucidate the breadth of literature on NAC in bladder cancer, discern research trajectories, and underscore emerging avenues of investigation. Methods: A systematic search of the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) was conducted to identify articles pertaining to NAC in bladder cancer from 1999 to 2022. Advanced bibliometric tools, such as VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and SCImago Graphica, facilitated the examination and depicted the publication trends, geographic contributions, institutional affiliations, journal prominence, author collaborations, and salient keywords, emphasizing the top 25 citation bursts. Results: Our analysis included 1836 publications spanning 1999 to 2022, indicating a growing trend in both annual publications and citations related to NAC in bladder cancer. The United States emerged as the predominant contributor in terms of publications, citations, and international collaborations. The University of Texas was the leading institution in publication output. "Urologic Oncology Seminars and Original Investigations" was the primary publishing journal, while "European Urology" boasted the highest impact factor. Shariat, Shahrokh F., and Grossman, H.B., were identified as the most prolific and co-cited authors, respectively. Keyword analysis revealed both frequency of occurrence and citation bursts, highlighting areas of concentrated study. Notably, the integration of immunochemotherapy is projected to experience substantial growth in forthcoming research. Conclusions: Our bibliometric assessment provides a panoramic view of the research milieu surrounding neoadjuvant chemotherapy for bladder cancer, encapsulating the present state, evolving trends, and potential future directions, with a particular emphasis on the promise of immunochemotherapy.

BACKGROUND: With the exponential growth of publications in the field of investigator-initiated research/trials (IIRs/IITs), it has become necessary to employ text mining and bibliometric analysis as tools for gaining deeper insights into this area of study. By using these methods, researchers can effectively identify and analyze research topics within the field. METHODS: This study retrieved relevant publications from the Web of Science Core Collection and conducted bioinformatics analysis. The latent Dirichlet allocation model, which is based on machine learning, was utilized to identify subfield research topics. RESULTS: A total of 4315 articles related to IIRs/IITs were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection. After excluding duplicates and articles with missing abstracts, a final dataset of 3333 articles was included for bibliometric analysis. The number of publications showed a steady increase over time, particularly since 2000. The United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Canada, Denmark, Japan, Switzerland, and France emerged as the most productive countries in terms of IIRs/IITs. The citation analysis revealed intriguing trends, with certain highly cited articles showing a significant increase in citation frequency in recent years. A model with 45 topics was deemed the best fit for characterizing the extensively researched fields within IIRs/IITs. Our analysis revealed 10 top topics that have garnered significant attention, spanning domains such as community health, cancer treatment, brain development and disease mechanisms, nursing research, and stem cell therapy. These top topics offer researchers valuable directions for further investigation and innovation. Additionally, we identified 12 hot topics, which represent the most cutting-edge and highly regarded research areas within the field. CONCLUSION: This study contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the current research landscape and provides valuable insights for researchers working in this domain.

BACKGROUND Sleep disorders are a common disease faced by people today and can lead to fatigue, lack of concentration, impaired memory, and even death. In recent years, the development of brain stimulation techniques has provided a new perspective for the treatment of sleep disorders. However, there is a lack of bibliometric analyses related to sleep disorders and brain stimulation techniques. Therefore, this study analyzed the application status and trend of brain stimulation technology in sleep disorder research. MATERIAL AND METHODS Articles and reviews published between 1999 and 2023 were retrieved from the Web of Science. CiteSpace was used to visually analyze the publications, countries, institutions, journals, authors, references, and keywords. RESULTS A total of 459 publications were obtained. The number of studies was shown to be on a general upward trend. The country with the largest number of publications was the United States; UDICE-French Research Universities had the highest number of publications; Neurology had the highest citation frequency; 90% of the top 10 references cited were from Journal Citation Reports Q1; Brigo was the author with the highest number of publications; and the most frequent keywords were "transcranial magnetic stimulation", "deep brain stimulation", and "Parkinson disease". CONCLUSIONS Our study used CiteSpace software to analyze 459 studies published since 1999 on brain stimulation techniques for the treatment of sleep disorders, revealing research trends and the current state of the field. Our results will help researchers to understand the existing research quickly and provide direction for future research.

OBJECTIVE: Intramedullary nails are commonly used for the purposes of internal fixation in the repair of tubular bone fractures, allowing for optimal fixation while minimizing intraoperative bleeding, surgical incision size, and associated stress. These nails are thus often utilized to repair hip and peripheral fractures, femur fractures, tibial fractures, humerus fractures, and clavicle fractures. Recent life expectancy increases, rising economic standards, and technological innovations have led to the application of a wider range of materials and techniques in the context of orthopedic device production, further expanding the clinical indications for intramedullary nailing. Despite the growing importance of this technique, there is currently a lack of any bibliometric or visual analyses that provide a robust overview of recent progress in the intramedullary nailing research space. Accordingly, this study was developed to succinctly and comprehensively summarize the current research status and major hotspots in this field through a bibliometric review of major relevant scientific articles focused on intramedullary nailing published in recent years. MATERIALS AND METHODS: For this analysis, the top 100 most-cited articles focused on intramedullary nails published between 2018 and 2022 were identified through a search of the Web of Science Core Collection database. Countries, institutions, journals, and other specific parameters associated with these articles were then analyzed using tools including CiteSpace, VOS-viewer, Origin, and SCImago Graphica in an effort to more clearly define the latest trends in the intramedullary nail-related research space. RESULTS: The top 3 most-cited articles related to intramedullary nailing over the past five years were "Antibacterial and immunogenic behavior of silver coatings on additively manufactured porous titanium", "Diaphyseal long bone nonunions - types, etiology, economics, and treatment recommendations", and "Epidemiology, treatment, and mortality of trochanteric and subtrochanteric hip fractures: data from the Swedish fracture register", all of which were published in 2018, respectively exhibiting 93, 83, and 81 citations. Of the 100 most-cited intramedullary nailing-related articles, 38, 20, and 12 were respectively published by researchers from the USA, China, and the UK, while research groups from Italy and Spain each published 7 articles. Four of this field's most highly cited articles were published by individuals affiliated with the US-based University of California System and the University System of Ohio. Of the 15 journals that published the largest number of these top 100 articles, the "Injury International Journal of The Care of The Injured" and the "Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma" published 9 manuscripts each, which was more than any other journal, while the "Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery" and the "Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics" published 7 each. In total, 73 highly cited articles focused on utilizing intramedullary nailing in orthopedic applications. Rozbruch SR from the USA published 3 high-quality articles in this research space, while the Chinese researchers Chang Shi Min, Du Shou Chao, Hou Zhi Yong, and Hu Sun Jun exhibited a total linkage strength of 21 in global interaction analyses. The most common keywords associated with intramedullary nail-related research identified in these analyses included "Hip fracture", "Nonunion", "Limb lengthening", "Proximal humeral fractures", "Additive manufacturing", "Induced membrane", and "Endoprosthetic replacement". Promising areas of potential future research focus may include "Limb reconstruction", "Pediatric deformity", and "Congenital femoral deficiency". CONCLUSIONS: This analysis revealed that the highest volume of high-impact research output focused on intramedullary nailing over the past 5 years has been produced by the USA, followed by China and the UK. The most influential journals in this research space were Injury International Journal of The Care of The Injured and the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, while the institutions associated with the most highly cited articles were the University of California System and the University System of Ohio. Intramedullary nailing is commonly utilized to treat intertrochanteric fractures and other tubular bone fractures. In the future, the application of augmented and virtual reality technologies may help shorten the learning curve for orthopedic surgeons and trauma surgeons who are learning intramedullary nailing-related techniques, and the combination of intramedullary nailing with antibacterial drugs, metal alloys, 3D navigation, and sensor devices may help improve patient outcomes.

BACKGROUND: Loneliness and social isolation are major public health concerns for older adults, with severe mental and physical health consequences. New technologies may have a great impact in providing support to the daily lives of older adults and addressing the many challenges they face. In this scenario, technologies based on voice assistants (VAs) are of great interest and potential benefit in reducing loneliness and social isolation in this population, because they could overcome existing barriers with other digital technologies through easier and more natural human-computer interaction. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to investigate the use of VAs to reduce loneliness and social isolation of older adults by performing a systematic literature review and a bibliometric cluster mapping analysis. METHODS: We searched PubMed, Embase, and Scopus databases for articles that were published in the last 6 years, related to the following main topics: voice interface, VA, older adults, isolation, and loneliness. A total of 40 articles were found, of which 16 (40%) were included in this review. The included articles were then assessed through a qualitative scoring method and summarized. Finally, a bibliometric analysis was conducted using VOSviewer software (Leiden University's Centre for Science and Technology Studies). RESULTS: Of the 16 articles included in the review, only 2 (13%) were considered of poor methodological quality, whereas 9 (56%) were of medium quality and 5 (31%) were of high quality. Finally, through bibliometric analysis, 221 keywords were extracted, of which 36 (16%) were selected. The most important keywords, by number of occurrences and by total link strength; results of the analysis with the Association Strength normalization method; and default values were then presented. The final bibliometric network consisted of 36 selected keywords, which were grouped into 3 clusters related to 3 main topics (ie, VA use for social isolation among older adults, the significance of age in the context of loneliness, and the impact of sex factors on well-being). For most of the selected articles, the effect of VA on social isolation and loneliness of older adults was a minor theme. However, more investigations were done on user experience, obtaining preliminary positive results. CONCLUSIONS: Most articles on the use of VAs by older adults to reduce social isolation and loneliness focus on usability, acceptability, or user experience. Nevertheless, studies directly addressing the impact that using a VA has on the social isolation and loneliness of older adults find positive and promising results and provide important information for future research, interventions, and policy development in the field of geriatric care and technology.

Background: Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic(SIAD) occurs secondary to various diseases, which is characterised by hypotonic hyponatremia and impaired urinary diluting capacity. Research on SIAD in both domestic and international contexts has a long history. This study objectively and comprehensively analyses the research trends, hotspots and development of SIAD research of the past 20 years using the method of bibliometric analysis. Methods: The 2003-2022 data in the Web of Science Core Collection database were searched. The Bibliometrix software package, VOSviewer and CiteSpace were used to mine, extract and visualise the retrieved literature, and the generated maps were used in analysing the main topics and trends in the field of SIAD research. Results: A total of 1215 articles published in 623 journals were included in the analysis, with a total of 18,886 citations. Results showed that the research output on SIAD has continuously increased in the past 20 years, and the United States had the highest number of publications and citations. Keywords with the highest burst strength in recent years were the most mentioned keywords, in addition to the search terms 'hyponatremia', 'covid-19', and 'mortality'. Thus, the relationship among SIAD, covid-19 and mortality may become research frontiers and trends. Fifteen milestone articles were identified through co-citation analysis, which mainly focused on the pathophysiology and treatment of SIAD. Conclusion: Based on bibliometric analysis and knowledge mapping, this study summarises development trends in the field of SIAD research, providing references for current and future research into SIAD.

BACKGROUND: A focused bibliographic analysis of Israel's ophthalmology research productivity has never been performed. OBJECTIVES: To assess the research output of Israeli ophthalmology departments between the years 2011-2021 and compare to leading countries in the discipline. METHODS: The PubMed search engine was used to detect all medical articles published between the years 2011 and 2021, with at least one author from an Israeli ophthalmology department. Each entry was reviewed for: year of publication, journal, department, sub-specialty, and study design. Journals were ranked according to Scopus Cite Score. Research output and population data of 7 top-ranked countries in ophthalmology (USA, UK, Japan, Germany, Australia, Canada, China) were documented for comparisons. RESULTS: Overall, 1,919 publications were included. Total research output of Israeli ophthalmology departments significantly increased throughout the study period (R2=0.85, P<0.0001). Medical retina publications were the most prevalent (493 articles, 25.6%), and the most commonly utilized design was cohort (536 articles, 28%). Over a third of all articles (669) were published in Q1 ophthalmology journals, and 16% were published in the top-10 journals. Israel was ranked (1/8) and (3/8) in publications per population and physician, respectively, compared to the other assessed countries. CONCLUSIONS: Between 2011-2021, the research productivity of the Israeli ophthalmological community has constantly increased across all sub-specialties and in high-impact journals. Israel's relative contribution to the ophthalmic medical literature is noteworthy internationally.

This study aimed to conduct a visual analysis of the relevant literature on mitochondrial dynamics in heart failure, explore the research progress, frontier topics, and development trends in this field, and provide references for the study concerning mitochondrial dynamics in the prevention and treatment of heart failure. The Web of Science was searched from inception to October 1, 2023 to identify relevant English literature on mitochondrial dynamics in heart failure. Bibliometric methods were utilized to statistically analyze the eligible literature, and CiteSpace 6.2.R5 software was employed to visualize data such as countries of publication, institutions, authors, and keywords. A total of 1755 Science Citation Index articles were included. The global publication volume showed an increasing trend year by year, with China and the United States having the most publications, and the United States displaying the highest centrality in publications. As revealed by keyword and citation analyses, the research hotspots and frontiers in this field mainly included the pathogenesis of heart failure, mitochondrial dynamics markers, mitochondrial quality control, and potential therapeutic targets for heart failure. Research on mitochondrial dynamics in heart failure is under vigorous development. It is a development trend in this research field to explore the differential gene expression and molecular mechanisms of targeted treatment in the mitochondrial dynamics in heart failure, which will contribute to the formulation of new strategies for the prevention and treatment of heart failure.

BACKGROUND: Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) infections occur in regional outbreaks every 3 to 7 years, lasting up to 2 years. Since this fall, there has been a significant rise in MP infections among children in China, indicating a regional epidemiological trend that imposes an increased national public health burden. To date, bibliometric methods have not been applied to studies on MP infection in children. METHODS: We searched for all relevant English publications on MP pneumonia in children published from 2011 to 2023 using Web of Science. Analytical software tools such as Citespace and VOSviewer were employed to analyze the collected literature. RESULTS: 993 articles on MP pneumonia in children were published in 338 academic journals by 5062 authors affiliated with 1381 institutions across 75 countries/regions. China led in global productivity with 56.19%. Among the top 10 prolific organizations, 8 were Chinese institutions, with Soochow University being the most active, followed by Capital Medical University and Zhejiang University. Zhimin Chen from Zhejiang University School of Medicine exhibited the highest H-index of 32. Keyword co-occurrence network analysis revealed 7 highly relevant clusters. CONCLUSION: The current research hotspots and frontiers in this field are primarily MP pneumonia, refractory MP pneumonia, lactate dehydrogenase, asthma, and biomarker. We anticipate that this work will provide novel insights for advancing scientific exploration and the clinical application of MP pneumonia in children.
