RESUMEN

Based on the data on 98 patients with chronic obstructive lung disease (COLD) of varying severity from the cotton-growing areas of Uzbekistan, including 66 patients with pesticide accumulation and 32 without the latter, the authors studied the mycociliary transport (MCT) by the time of MCT, adhesiveness, and surface tension of sputum, as well as its content of bound and free water. The studies point to the development of significant mucociliary insufficiency that deteriorates the signs of bronchial obstruction in patients with COLD with pesticide accumulation. With the longer release of an inhaled indicator (MCT time > 48 hours), peak forced expiratory flow rates (PFEFR) were found to considerably decrease in this category of patients than in patients without impaired MCT (PEFR 1.8 +/- 0.6 l/sec versus 5.9 +/- 0.3 l/sec. The increases in sputum adhesiveness and surface tension may be used as an additional criterion of MCT impairments.

RESUMEN

In 69 patients bronchial asthma of varying severity, the biophysical parameters of lymphocytic membranes and their phospholipid spectrum were studied in relation to the manifestations of nonspecific hyperreactivity of the bronchial tree. Membranous biophysical and structural (physicochemical) impairments were ascertained to be one of the major pathogenetic mechanisms determining the formation of the clinical, pathophysiological, and pathomorphological manifestations of the disease, its severity and persistent course.

RESUMEN

The records of autopsies and history cases of deceased patients served as a material for analyzing the quality of clinical diagnosis of tuberculosis in 1987-1997. A hundred and eighty and six patients (39.1%) were autopsied. Of them 139 (74.7%) and 47 (25.3%) died from tuberculosis and other diseases, respectively. Tuberculosis and its complications were recognized in 113 (81.3%) patients during their life. Fibrocavernous tuberculosis was a prevalent clinical form in 104 (55.9%) of the deceased. Progressive tuberculosis, more commonly as complications of cavernous tuberculosis (in 49 (35.2%) patients) and those of hematogenic generalization (in 23 (16.5%)) were a direct cause of death in most tuberculosis patients (n = 72 (51.8%)).

RESUMEN

The paper presents the results of life liver biopsy in 34 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis whose blood samples displayed viral hepatitis B markers (n = 18, Group 1) and organochlorine pesticides (n = 16, Group 2). Hepatic biopsy specimens were examined, by using histological, histochemical, and electron microscopic techniques. The entities of hepatic lesions identified were virtually identical in the comparable groups.

RESUMEN

The paper deals with the results of a comparative morphologic, toxicologic and biochemical study of the character of reparative processes in destructive forms of pulmonary tuberculosis, specific features of non-coordination of collagen metabolism depending on the cumulation of organochlorine and organophosphorus pesticides and in the absence of their residual quantities in the patient's body on admission to a hospital and during current antibacterial therapy. The resected and removed lungs and blood of 1063 patients were used for the study. Specific features of a tuberculosis course, the duration and effectiveness of antibacterial therapy, the character of reparative processes, characteristic features of collagen metabolism and collagenosis, the character and dissemination of residual changes due to therapy were established in the compared groups of patients.

RESUMEN

The paper deals with the findings of comparative morphologic and immunologic studies of immunomodulatory therapy for experimental tuberculosis on chronic exposure to pesticides (alpha-3) of 117 guinea pigs receiving decaris (levamisole), as an immunostimulator, and "mumiyo-acil", as a biostimulator. The specific features of every pathogenetic drug's effect on the tuberculous inflammation morphology, cellular-tissue reactions, cellular immune response and repair processes were defined. An optimum effect in the treatment of the pesticide-induced experimental tuberculosis can be achieved by the use of anti-bacterial drugs and "mumiyo-acil".

RESUMEN

Findings of morphologic studies of the liver bioptic material taken from 42 patients with different forms of pulmonary tuberculosis, hosts of Hbs-antigen, are described. It appears that marked dystrophic, inflammatory and necrotic changes occur in patients of this category, which should be taken into account when etiotropic and pathogenetic therapy is chosen.
