The aging brain represents the primary risk factor for many neurodegenerative disorders. Whole-brain oscillations may contribute novel early biomarkers of aging. Here, we investigated the dynamic oscillatory neural activities across lifespan (from 18 to 88 years) using resting Magnetoencephalography (MEG) in a large cohort of 624 individuals. Our aim was to examine the patterns of oscillation microstates during the aging process. By using a machine-learning algorithm, we identify four typical clusters of microstate patterns across different age groups and different frequency bands: left-to-right topographic MS1, right-to-left topographic MS2, anterior-posterior MS3 and fronto-central MS4. We observed a decreased alpha duration and an increased alpha occurrence for sensory-related microstate patterns (MS1 & MS2). Accordingly, theta and beta changes from MS1 & MS2 may be related to motor decline that increased with age. Furthermore, voluntary 'top-down' saliency/attention networks may be reflected by the increased MS3 & MS4 alpha occurrence and complementary beta activities. The findings of this study advance our knowledge of how the aging brain shows dysfunctions in neural state transitions. By leveraging the identified microstate patterns, this study provides new insights into predicting healthy aging and the potential neuropsychiatric cognitive decline.

BACKGROUND: Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a common neurosurgical issue that has a detrimental impact on patients' quality of life. Osteoma at the petrous apex is a rare etiology of TN. Here, the authors present a case involving the co-occurrence of petrous osteoma and a vascular loop around the trigeminal nerve. Both exerted pressure or compression on the exit of the trigeminal nerve. OBSERVATIONS: A 46-year-old male presented with a 3-year history of persistent severe pain in the right side of his face. Magnetic resonance tomographic angiography of the trigeminal nerve revealed an abnormal signal in the right prepontine cistern, along with a vascular loop accompanying the right trigeminal nerve. A computed tomography scan of the skull indicated a nodular calcified density. The combined anterior transpetrosal approach for petrous osteoma and microvascular decompression (MVD) for the offending vessel were successfully performed. The patient was discharged without any complications or facial pain. LESSONS: Although extremely rare, TN simultaneously secondary to petrous osteoma and offending vessels should be considered in the diagnosis. In this case, the combined surgical removal of petrous osteoma and MVD for the offending vessels proved to be an effective treatment for TN secondary to osteoma and vascular compression.

The inflammatory response is one of the host's mechanisms to combat pathogens. Normal and controlled inflammation can accelerate the clearance of pathogens. However, in sepsis, the host often exhibits an excessive inflammatory response to infection, leading to tissue and organ damage. Therefore, studying the mechanisms underlying the occurrence and development of sepsis is of significant importance. Pyroptosis is a form of programmed cell death (PCD) executed by the gasdermins (GSDMs) family, and its pro-inflammatory characteristics are considered a crucial component of the sepsis mechanism. Previous research on pyroptosis in sepsis has mainly focused on the caspase-1/4/5/11-GSDMD pathway, which has made significant progress. However, there is a lack of research on the roles of other GSDMs family members in sepsis. New research has revealed that the caspase-3/GSDME pathway can also mediate pyroptosis, playing important roles in cancer, other inflammatory diseases, and even some sepsis-related conditions. This discovery suggests the potential value of investigating caspase-3/GSDME in sepsis research. This review provides an overview of the role of the GSDMs family in infectious diseases, summarizes current research on the caspase-1/4/5/11-GSDMD pathway, describes the role of caspase-3 in sepsis, and discusses the research findings related to pyroptosis mediated by the caspase-3/GSDME pathway in cancer, inflammatory diseases, and sepsis-related conditions. The aim of this article is to propose the concept of caspase-3/GSDME as a potential target in sepsis research. Considering the role of this pathway in other diseases, including inflammatory conditions, and given the unique nature of sepsis as an inflammatory disease, the article suggests that this pathway may also play a role in sepsis. This hypothesis provides new insights and options for future sepsis research, although direct experiments are needed to validate this hypothesis.

The range of the butterfly genus Pseudocoladenia includes several biodiversity hotspots, such as the Himalayas, mountains of southwestern China, and Sundaland. However, the taxonomic status of some of its species/subspecies remain controversial, and no previous phylogenetic or biogeographic analyses have been conducted. Herein, we determined the systematic relationships and biogeographic history of this genus by reconstructing its phylogeny based on six genes and 69 specimens as representatives of all known species/subspecies. Two species delimitation methods (Bayes Poisson Tree Processes and Bayesian Phylogenetics and Phylogeography) were also employed to assess the status of each taxon. Based on these results and morphological evidence, we identified 12 species and three subspecies in the genus and subsequently classified these into three species groups: P. fatih, P. dea, and P. dan. Five taxa, P. sadakoe (Sonan and Mitono, 1936) stat. nov., P. celebica (Fruhstorfer, 1909) stat. nov., P. fulvescens (Elwes and Edwarda, 1897) stat. nov., P. eacus (Latreille, 1823) stat. nov., and P. fabia (Evans, 1949) stat. nov. were all recognized as independent species. Additionally, two taxa, P. eacus sumatrana (Fruhstorfer, 1909) comb. nov. and P. eacus dhyana (Fruhstorfer, 1909) comb. nov., were placed under P. eacus (Latreille, 1823) stat. nov. as subspecies. Another new species distributed in N. Yunnan, Pseudocoladenia yunnana Fan, Cao & Hou sp. nov., was discovered and described. Divergence time and ancestral range estimation indicated that the most recent common ancestor of Pseudocoladenia was distributed in the Himalayas-Hengduan Mountain region and Indochina and diverged approximately 14.00 Ma. Continuous and episodic dispersal, vicariance, and extinction were used to determine the current geographic distribution of the genus. The P. fatih group had a prominently disjunct distribution between the Himalaya-Hengduan Mountain and Taiwan. Meanwhile, the P. dan group was first derived in Indochina and subsequently dispersed into the southeastern Asian archipelagoes. This study provides a reference for the evolutionary route of transoceanic distributed species in Asia and elaborates on the causes of biodiversity.

Background: Emerging evidence has been reported of attentional dysfunction in pituitary adenoma patients. However, the effect of pituitary adenomas on lateralized attention network efficiency remained to be clear. Thus, the present study aimed to investigate the impairment of lateralized attention networks in patients with pituitary adenoma. Methods: Eighteen pituitary adenoma patients (PA group) and 20 healthy controls (HCs) were included in this study. Both behavioral results and event-related potentials (ERPs) were acquired while subjects performed the Lateralized Attention Network Test (LANT). Results: Behavioral performances indicated the PA group had a slower reaction time and a similar error rate relative to the HCs group. Meanwhile, significantly increased executive control network efficiency suggested the dysfunction of inhibition control in PA patients. Regarding ERP results, there were no group differences in the alerting and orienting networks. The target-related P3 was significantly reduced in the PA group, suggesting an impairment of executive control function and attentional resources allocation. Moreover, the mean amplitude of P3 was significantly lateralized to the right hemisphere, and interacted with the visual field, exhibiting that the right hemisphere dominated the bilateral visual field, whereas the left hemisphere dominated the left visual field. In the specific high-conflict condition, the pattern of hemispheric asymmetry in the PA group was altered due to a mixed effect resulting from the compensatory recruitment of attentional resources in the left central parietal area and the destructive effects of hyperprolactinemia. Conclusion: These findings suggested that, in the lateralized condition, the decreased P3 in the right central parietal area and the diminished hemispheric asymmetry under high conflict load, may serve as the potential biomarkers of attentional dysfunction in patients with pituitary adenoma.

Prolactinomas have been reported to impair cognition in broad aspects. However, few studies investigated the influence of prolactinomas on cognitive flexibility never mentioning the underlying neural and electrophysiological mechanism. We recorded scalp electroencephalography (EEG) in a colour-shape switching task. Patients with prolactinomas showed longer reaction time in switch trials and larger switch costs relative to healthy controls (HCs). Compared to HCs who showed stronger frontal theta activity in switch trials, the generally weak frontal theta activity in patients implied that they could not afford the executive control to configure task sets. Meanwhile, machine-learning based classification revealed that patients manifested non-selective brain patterns in response to different task types (colour vs. shape task) and different task states (switch vs. repeat state), which collectively suggested the cognitive dysfunction in preparation for a changing environment. Compared to HCs who showed stronger frontoparietal synchronization in switch trials, this enhanced frontoparietal connectivity was disrupted among patients with severe prolactinomas. This finding implicated greater hyperprolactinemia was linked to a larger decrease in cognitive performance. Taken together, the present study highlighted frontal theta power, and frontoparietal connectivity at theta band as the electrophysiological markers of the impaired cognitive flexibility and task control in patients with prolactinomas.

The cognitive impairment of pituitary adenomas (PAs) has received increasing attention. Hyperprolactinemia and tumor mass effect are the potential causes. The aim of this study was to identify possible cognitive impairment and to further explore the correlation between these indices and prolactin (PRL) levels, based on the control of tumor size. Twenty-seven patients with prolactinomas (patient group) and twenty-six matched health control group (HC group) were enrolled in this study. All participants performed the flanker task while we continuously recorded electroencephalography data. On the behavioral performance level, patients showed a significantly slower reaction time (RT) in both flanker types. Concerning the event-related potentials level, patients elicited reduced P2 and enhanced N2 amplitudes compared with the HC group, suggesting an impairment of attentional processing (P2) and conflict monitoring (N2). Moreover, the patient group also induced lower P3 amplitudes relative to the HC group in both types, indicating that there were deficits in attentional resource allocation ability. We also found a significant correlation between the P3 amplitudes and incongruent condition RTs, as well as the subsequent PRL levels in the patient group. In conclusion, this is an innovative study that reveals the impaired cognition abilities in prolactinomas, and also proposes the possible cognitive toxicity of oversecreted PRL levels, which provides evidence for further research on the cognitive decline in PAs.

Repeated subconcussive head impacts are frequently experienced by athletes involved in competitive sports, such as boxing. The objective of the present study was to investigate the changes in working memory performance and memory retrieval-related neural oscillations in boxing athletes who experienced repeated subconcussive head impacts. Twenty-one boxing athletes (boxing group) and 25 matched controls (control group) completed a modified visual working memory task, and their continuous scalp electroencephalography (EEG) data were collected simultaneously. The behavioral measures and retrieval-related low-frequency neural oscillations were analyzed at each working memory set size in both groups. Subjects in the boxing group showed a reduced mean accuracy, diminished capacity estimates, and slower reaction time at demanding set sizes, and a marginally increased intra-individual coefficient of variation (ICV) for overall set sizes. Additionally, decreased event-related frontal theta synchronization, parieto-occipital alpha desynchronization, and frontal low beta synchronization were observed in the boxing group, suggesting underlying working memory dysfunction for efficient neurocognitive resource employment, inhibition of distracting stimuli, and post-retrieval control in the boxing group. Moreover, a negative correlation was found between frontal beta synchronization and reaction time for most set sizes in both groups. The present study was the first to reveal the underlying working memory deficits caused by the cumulative effects of boxing-related subconcussive head impacts from the perspective of behavior and EEG time-frequency oscillations. Joint analysis of EEG low-frequency oscillations and the innovative task with multiple challenging load conditions may serve as a promising way to detect concealed deficiencies within working memory processing.

Cognitive abilities are impaired in patients with pituitary adenoma. However, studies on attention processing impairment in preoperative patients and attention processing recovery after transsphenoidal adenomectomy are lacking. The study aims to identify the electrophysiological change that relates to attention processing in pituitary patients before and after treatment. Twenty five preoperative pituitary patients and 25 follow-up postoperative patients were recruited. 27 healthy controls (HCs) were matched to the patients with age, gender, and education. Event-related potentials were used to investigate the attention processing in the preoperative patients, postoperative patients, and HCs. Across three groups, all emotional stimuli evoked P200 components. Compared with the HCs or postoperative patients, the amplitudes of P200 in the preoperative patients were higher. Moreover, The amplitudes of P200 decreased in the postoperative patients, which were similar to that in the HCs. The attention processing was improved after surgery, but no significant differences were detected between the postoperative patients and HCs. Abnormal hormone levels may be relevant to the factor that impair attention processing. Compared with that of the HCs and postoperative patients, the P200 component elicited by negative stimuli is higher in preoperative patients, which may illustrate compensatory activity after attention impairments. Furthermore, these data indicate that improvements in attention processing may be attributed to the amelioration of endocrine disorders. This study shows that the P200 component may be used to diagnose attention processing in preoperative pituitary patients and prove the improvement of attention processing in postoperative patients.

Cognitive impairment caused by repetitive subconcussion has received increasing attention in recent years. Although the dysfunction of attention has been confirmed by neuropsychological research using scales, there is no event-related potentials (ERPs) research. The Attention Network Test (ANT) has been widely used to evaluate the three separate components of attention processing (alerting, orienting, and executive control). Twenty-seven paratroopers exposed to repetitive subconcussion (subconcussion group) and 25 matched healthy control participants (HCs group) were enrolled, and all of them performed the ANT test while continuous scalp electroencephalography data were recorded. On the behavioral performance level, the subconcussion group showed a slower task response, with an especially significant slower reaction time in alerting. Concerning ERP results, reduction amplitudes of cue-N1 in the alerting network were observed, indicating that this group was less able to make efficient use of cues and maintain an alerting state for incoming information. For the orienting network, no difference in N1 amplitude was observed between the two groups. Moreover, there was a reduced P3 amplitude in the executive control network in the subconcussion group compared with the HCs group, suggesting a dysfunction of attentional resource allocation and inhibition control in the former group. This study is, to our knowledge, the first analysis of the altered attention network caused by repetitive subconcussion from the perspectives of behavioral and neuropsychology levels. These preliminary results revealed the possible damage of the alerting and executive control networks and provided a reference for further research on subconcussion cognitive impairment.

Prolactinomas have been reported for the failure of cognitive functions. However, the electrophysiological mechanisms of attention processing in prolactinomas remain unclear. In a visual mission, we monitored the scalp electroencephalography (EEG) of the participants. Compared with the healthy controls (HCs), larger frontoparietal theta and alpha coherence were found in the patients, especially in the right-lateralized hemisphere, which indicated a deficit in attention processing. Moreover, the frontoparietal coherence was positively correlated with altered prolactin (PRL) levels, implying the significance of PRL for adaptive brain compensation in prolactinomas. Taken together, this research showed the variations in attention processing between the HCs and prolactinomas. The coherence between frontal and parietal regions may be one of the possible electrophysiological biomarkers for detecting deficient attention processing in prolactinomas.

OBJECTIVES: Injured cognitive abilities have been reported in patients with pituitary adenoma. However, to date, few researchers have directly investigated the electrophysiological study of inhibitory control function of pituitary patients both pre- and postsurgery. Thus, this study aimed to identify the factors affecting the inhibitory control function of pituitary patients. METHODS: Thirty presurgery pituitary patients were recruited and 26 patients of them completed the postsurgery follow-up. Thirty healthy people were recruited for control group. Visual Go/Nogo tasks were carried out by the patients and controls to assess the inhibitory control function before surgery and 6 months after the surgery, respectively. The function of inhibitory control was analyzed with the components of N2 and P3. RESULTS: Across 3 groups, Nogo stimuli evoked larger frontal-central N2nogo and P3nogo than Go stimuli did. Furthermore, N2d of presurgery patients (-1.14 µV) and postsurgery patients(-0.61 µV) were significantly decreased compared with that of control group (-3.09 µV), F(2, 83) = 13.92, P < .01, whereas no difference was detected between pre- and postsurgery groups. There was no remarkable difference in the amplitude of P3d among the 3 groups, F(2, 83) = 0.19, P > .05. With regard to the amplitude of P3 for Go condition, The P3 amplitude of healthy group (4.38 µV) was larger than both pre- and postsurgery (1.00 µV and 3.01 µV). With regard to the amplitude of P3 for Nogo condition, The P3 amplitude of healthy group (5.25 µV) was larger than both pre- and postsurgery groups (2.35 µV and 4.18 µV). CONCLUSIONS: These results indicated that presurgery patients showed the dysfunction of inhibition, due to the nerve tissue damage or brain structure alteration caused by the presurgery physical pressure from tumor and abnormal hormone levels. Postsurgery patients showed a tendency toward recovery, but there was no obvious improvement in the inhibitory control function after successful treatments.

Impairment of cognitive functions has been reported in prolactinomas. However, the electrophysiological mechanisms of response activation and response inhibition in prolactinomas remain unclear. We recorded participants' scalp electroencephalography (EEG) in a visual Go/Nogo task. Compared to the healthy controls (HCs), the patients demonstrated worse performance and their prolactin (PRL) levels negatively correlated with behavioral results. Meanwhile, patients' P300 amplitudes in the Go and Nogo conditions were smaller than the HCs. The amplitudes of N200nogo in patients were smaller than the HCs as well. Lower frontal theta power was found in the patients than the HCs in both Go and Nogo conditions, which indicated a deficit in response activation and inhibition. Moreover, the PRL levels mediated the relationship between frontal theta power and behavior performance, implying that lower frontal theta power caused the dysfunction of response control by abnormally high PRL levels. Patients also showed lower occipital alpha power than the HCs, which suggested that the impaired response inhibition may arise from deficient attention control. Taken together, the present study revealed the neurocognitive discrepancies between prolactinomas and the HCs. The frontal theta oscillation was highlighted as the electrophysiological markers of the impaired response control in prolactinomas.

Impairment of executive function has been reported in patients with prolactinomas. However, few studies have investigated the electrophysiological mechanisms of response activation and response inhibition in these patients. In this study, we employ an event-related potentials (ERPs) technique to quantitatively assess response activation and inhibition before and after the surgical treatment of prolactinomas. A 64-electrode electroencephalogram (EEG) skullcap was used to record the brain activity in 20 pre-operative patients, 20 follow-up post-operative patients, and 20 healthy controls (HCs) while performing the visual Go/Nogo task. As expected, we identified P300 across all study populations that could reflect response activation and inhibition. Across the three groups, the Nogo stimuli evoked larger frontal-central P300 than the Go stimuli did. In contrast, the Go trials elicited larger parietal P300 than the Nogo trials did. The peak latency of P300 was significantly delayed in both the pre-operative and the post-operative groups compared to the HCs. The amplitude of P300 in both the Go and the Nogo conditions was significantly decreased in the pre-operative patients compared with that of the HCs. At 6 months post-operatively, the prolactinoma patients showed an increase in amplitude of P300 during both the Go and the Nogo tasks. These findings indicate that the prolactinoma patients suffer from deficits in response activation and inhibition, which could be improved by surgical treatment.

The specimens of the family Hesperiidae collected from Tibet during 2016-2018 are identified using morphology. COI sequences of 76 individuals are newly obtained. The result of our morphological study is congruent with COI gene analyses. Maximum likehood (ML) and Bayesina inferences (BI) analyses reveal that individuals identified morphologically as the same species cluster cohesively. The minimum interspecific genetic distance is 1.7% between Halpe aucma and H. filda, and the genetic distance between conspecific individuals ranged from 0 to 0.2% for the genus Halpe. A total of 51 species are recognized, and six of them, Celaenorrhinus consanguineus Leech, 1891, Barca bicolor (Oberthür, 1896), Aeromachus propinquus Alphéraky, 1897, Pedesta bivitta (Oberthür, 1886), Baoris penicillata chapmani Evans, 1937, and Ochlodes brahma Moore, 1878, are reported from Tibet for the first time, and the last species is new to China.

BACKGROUND: To develop and validate a refined traumatic brain injury (TBI) classification system to supplement the existing systems which have limited accuracy for predicting long-term consciousness recovery. METHODS: The refined classification system was developed using medical records of 527 patients according to clinical presentations within 12-24 hrs after injury. Multiple linear regression was applied to identify protective and risk factors for Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) score at 12-month follow-up. The TBI severity was moved to a less or more severe level when more than half of the protective or risk factors were present. The capability and reliability of each system for predicting 12 month GCS and GOS scores, and mortality were assessed using ROC curve analysis and Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient. RESULTS: One protective factor and four risk factors were identified for predicting long-term outcomes. The refined system had higher sensitivity and specificity in predicting 12-month GCS and GOS scores, and mortality than the other two systems. The refined system had lower reliability than the GCS system and higher reliability than the Chinese system. CONCLUSIONS: The refined system incorporates the advantages of both GCS and Chinese systems and provides a better prediction of long-term consciousness outcome.

Evidence showed impaired cognitive ability of patients with pituitary adenoma as an intracranial tumor. In the present study, we investigated the preattentive processing of emotional faces in pituitary adenoma patients by recording and analyzing the visual mismatch negativity elicited by deviant emotional faces. In the normal control group, deviant emotional faces elicited expression-related mismatch negativity (EMMN), with a more pronounced negative waveform for sad than happy face conditions. Compared with the normal group, EMMN related to sad faces was smaller in patients, whereas the EMMN related to happy faces remained the same. These data indicate the functional dysfunction of negative emotional processing at the preattentive stage of information processing in pituitary adenoma patients.

This study investigated the characteristics of the small-world brain network architecture of patients with mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI), and a correlation between brain functional connectivity network properties in the resting-state fMRI and Standardized Assessment of Concussion (SAC) parameters. The neurological conditions of 22 MTBI patients and 17 normal control individuals were evaluated according to the SAC. Resting-state fMRI was performed in all subjects 3 and 7days after injury respectively. After preprocessing the fMRI data, cortex functional regions were marked using AAL90 and Dosenbach160 templates. The small-world network parameters and areas under the integral curves were computed in the range of sparsity from 0.01 to 0.5. Independent-sample t-tests were used to compare these parameters between the MTBI and control group. Significantly different parameters were investigated for correlations with SAC scores; those that correlated were chosen for further curve fitting. The clustering coefficient, the communication efficiency across in local networks, and the strength of connectivity were all higher in MTBI patients relative to control individuals. Parameters in 160 brain regions of the MTBI group significantly correlated with total SAC score and score for attention; the network parameters may be a quadratic function of attention scores of SAC and a cubic function of SAC scores. MTBI patients were characterized by elevated communication efficiency across global brain regions, and in local networks, and strength of mean connectivity. These features may be associated with brain function compensation. The network parameters significantly correlated with SAC total and attention scores.

OBJECTIVE: The Helsinki computed tomography (CT) scoring system was developed to predict long-term outcome in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) 2 years ago; however, it has not yet been external validated. This study aimed to determine whether this system could be used as an independent predictor for TBI. METHODS: This retrospective cohort study was performed on 302 consecutive patients with TBI. Univariate and multivariate logistic regressions and receiver operating characteristic curve analyses were used to determine the relationship between initial Helsinki CT scores and mortality and unfavorable neurologic outcome at 6 months after injury. Outcomes were assessed using the Glasgow Outcome Scale (scores of 1-3 defined as unfavorable outcome). RESULTS: Of all patients, mortality was 17.9% and unfavorable outcome was 41.4%. The Helsinki CT score was significantly associated with the 6-month outcome in univariate analyses (P < 0.05). After adjustment for other factors in the multivariate regression analysis, the Helsinki CT score remained an independent predictor for mortality (odds ratio [OR], 1.22; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.08-1.39; P = 0.002) and unfavorable outcome (OR, 1.14; 95% CI, 1.04-1.26; P = 0.007). Receiver operating characteristic curve analyses showed that the Helsinki CT score possessed good discrimination ability for mortality (area under the curve, 0.81; 95% CI, 0.75-0.87; P < 0.001) and moderate discrimination ability for unfavorable outcome (area under the curve, 0.74; 95% CI, 0.69-0.80; P < 0.001). Moreover, at 1.9 hours after TBI, the Helsinki CT score was most accurate for predicting mortality (accuracy, 74.5%) and unfavorable outcome (accuracy, 71.5%). CONCLUSIONS: The Helsinki CT score showed good prognostic discrimination and can be used as an independent predictor for long-term outcome prediction in patients with TBI.

Pituitary tumor is an intracranial tumor; because of the development of neuroimaging technology in recent years, morbidity is likely to increase. Evidence showed impaired cognitive ability of patients with pituitary adenoma. There is evidence that neurobehavioral disorders are common in pituitary adenoma patients. This disorder is because of the cognitive and emotional function of the important functional areas of the brain oppressed and hormone imbalance. Individuals' mental activity is controlled by the brain and the abnormal mental activity is caused by both the structural abnormalities of the brain and neurochemical dysfunction. Event-related potentials have been used widely in the early assessment of cognitive functions associated with disease, taking advantage of the high temporal resolution, and then analyzing the characteristics of emotional competence from the perspective of cognitive processing. A visual Go/Nogo task was used. A larger Nogo-N2 and Nogo-P3 was found in the control group compared with the pituitary group. This reflects the nonphysiological process of conflict monitoring and inhibitory control in pituitary patients. The results also showed that the difference waves between Go and Nogo conditions (N2d and P3d) over the frontal electrode sites were more robust and earlier in the control group compared with the pituitary group, which reflects frontal dysfunction in the pituitary group. These data suggest reduced earlier and later stages of inhibitory processes in pituitary individuals, implicating the dysfunction of conflict detection and inhibitory control.
