RESUMEN

Chromosome numbers have been used in plant taxonomy, and they are still fundamental for taxon delimitation and genome evolution studies. South America is one of the most diverse continents in terms of plant species and there is a considerable number of species not yet analyzed. Accumulated knowledge about plant chromosome numbers has been compiled from online databases, and here we present an overview. The CCDB is one of the largest plant cytological databases and includes data for around 18% of known vascular plants in the world. In this work, we review the information contained in CCDB and in three databases with exclusive information for South America. At present, the three existing databases comprise information on around 1800 plant taxa related to specific regions, countries, or biomes. Efforts are necessary to expand cytological knowledge and to collect all the available information in a plant chromosome database for this continent.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The health area in its most diverse fields has progressively incorporated nanotechnology into its products, such as in dermatology. In this sector, nanoparticles are one of the strategies that allow improvements, both in terms of value-added, as well as the efficacy, safety and stability of products for cosmetic or therapeutic purposes. OBJECTIVE: To understand the scenario of development and innovation of dermatological products with nanoparticles, through a patent prospection, evaluating the annual evolution, the main technology investors countries, the profile of the depositors, besides the uses and purposes of the products. METHODS: The Espacenet® database was used for consultation, using the search term "nanoparticle and skin". A total of 285 patents were found, of which 208 were available and 89 were based on the scope. RESULTS: There was a progressive evolution in the number of patents after the year 2000, with South Korea, the United States, China and Japan as the main depositor countries. Private companies and Education and Research Institutions were the entities with the largest amount of deposits. The cosmetic purpose was the predominant use compared to the therapeutic one. The most prominent nanoparticles were polymeric, metallic and lipid, while the therapeutic area presented a larger number of the functionalized ones. CONCLUSION: The market for dermatological products has been innovating and growing over the years through the use of nanoparticles, evidencing a prominent development of nanotechnology-based cosmetics. Countries investing in nanotechnology and major developers of innovative products are highlighted in this scenario.

RESUMEN

Abstract Background Studies on "Spirituality, religion and health"(R/S) have been increasing worldwide, including in Brazil. Mapping this production can help researchers to understand this field and also to identify gaps in the Brazilian R/S studies. Objective To analyze the Brazilian scientific articles on "Religion, Spirituality and Health&" available on the main electronic databases using a bibliometric approach. Methods A comprehensive review of four major databases (PubMed, Scopus, BVS and Web of Science) was conducted. Three reviewers performed the data analysis. Off-topic articles, articles from Portugal, books and thesis were excluded. Articles were then classified by: Publication year, journal, Central focus in R/S, Academic Area, Main topic and Study Type. Results From 3,963 articles found, 686 studies were included in the final analysis (320 had central focus on R/S). There was an increase of articles in the last decade (most observational), with predominance of mental health issues, and from journals in the field of psychiatry, public health and nursing. Discussion This study enabled us to widen our understanding about how the field of "spirituality, religion and health" has been established and how this field is increasing in Brazil. These findings can help in the development of future Brazilian studies.
