RESUMEN

Atmospheric new-particle formation (NPF) affects climate by contributing to a large fraction of the cloud condensation nuclei (CCN). Highly oxygenated organic molecules (HOMs) drive the early particle growth and therefore substantially influence the survival of newly formed particles to CCN. Nitrogen oxide (NOx) is known to suppress the NPF driven by HOMs, but the underlying mechanism remains largely unclear. Here, we examine the response of particle growth to the changes of HOM formation caused by NOx. We show that NOx suppresses particle growth in general, but the suppression is rather nonuniform and size dependent, which can be quantitatively explained by the shifted HOM volatility after adding NOx. By illustrating how NOx affects the early growth of new particles, a critical step of CCN formation, our results help provide a refined assessment of the potential climatic effects caused by the diverse changes of NOx level in forest regions around the globe.

RESUMEN

The paper aims at studying the effect of body overweight at birth on the dental health of 482 children in the Kharkiv City (Ukraine) during their first year of life over the 2001 and 2013 interval. The macrosomia set is comprised of the medical records of the children born with fetal macrosomia, and the normosimia set of the medical records of the children born with weight and height that correspond to the gestation age. The gestation age of all children is 37 to 42 weeks'. To determine the average time of first tooth eruption and deciduous teeth growth rate for each of the sets under study, we have used the hypothesis about a linear dependence between the number of erupted teeth and the age of the child. Processing statistical data is performed applying the multiple linear regression analysis. The reasons for macrosomia in the children are examined. The number of pregnancies and deliveries influence the likelihood of having a child with fetal macrosomia. A greater likelihood of having a child with fetal macrosomia in the older parents is not found. The correlation between the states of a child at birth (macrosomia/normosimia) and terms of deciduous tooth eruption (the delayed/timely/early eruption) expressed in a number of teeth at the age of one year is determined. The difference in the teeth growth rate between the boys and girls within the both sets are insignificant. The children born with macrosomia have a lower rate (approximately 0.1 tooth per month) of teeth growth and a greater spread in the number of teeth that erupt by a certain age.

RESUMEN

The analysis of the dental status in patients with IUGR in past history in period of removable and permanent dentition was conducted. 39 patients with intrauterine growth retardation in past history were examined. The clinical, statistical methods were held. Concluded that the child, who was born with IUGR, later in future life, has a great risk of dental diseases. The most considerable violations were found in patients with "symmetrical" form of intrauterine growth retardation. It is proposed to use clinical markers as possible predictors of periodontal diseases.

RESUMEN

One hundred and ninety-nine children aged 7-14 and 177 adolescents in remission and minimal manifestations of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) were examined before and after fangotherapy with allowance for activity of the process, age-related reactivity. The comparison involved sympathetic-adrenal function (by urine excretion of epinephrine and norepinephrine), specific and nonspecific immune reactivity (by the level of IgA, IgM, IgG, circulating immune complexes, T and B lymphocytes; RF titers, leukocyte migration inhibition test), platelet components of hemostasis (number of platelets, adhesion induced by ADP and epinephrine).

RESUMEN

Altogether 205 children suffering from rheumatoid arthritis were examined for the morphofunctional status of platelets. Appreciable changes in the functional properties of platelets were revealed together with ultrastructural disorders. The correlation was noted between the characteristics under study as was their relationship with the disease activity and pattern.
