RESUMEN

We report here the draft genome sequence of Enterococcus faecium strain Ef79OSAU, which was isolated from swine feces. The characteristics of strain Ef79OSAU reveal the absence of pathogenicity factors, a wide range of antimicrobial activity in vitro, and antilisteriosis activity in vivo. Analysis of the E. faecium Ef79OSAU genome revealed a cluster of genes encoding enterocin A without genetic determinants of pathogenicity.

RESUMEN

On the basis of the long-term observations of 22 334 pedigree animals, the level of genetic polymorphism and basic breed-specific immunogenetic parameters were determined in eight major pig breeds from southern Ukraine. The high level of gene diversity was revealed and the degree of genetic similarity between the studied breeds was estimated.

RESUMEN

Studying of the structural organization of the gene pool considering frequencies of occurrence of complex genotypes in animals simultaneously by many loci of blood groups allows to better characterize immunogenetic parameters of populations and peculiarities of selection acting upon animals of different genetic classes. The data on presence of the optimum level of gene diversity and peculiarities of selection acting upon polymorphic systems of blood groups in the pig herd of Ukrainian Steppe White breed have been obtained. The results can be used for increasing efficiency of breeding.

RESUMEN

The study of structural organization of gene pool was conducted for eight blood-group genetic systems (transferrin, haptoglobin, and amilase) in three stock herds of pigs of the Ukrainskaya Stepnaya Belaya breed that were bred under the conditions of southern Ukraine. Typical gene combinations (complex genotypes) of this breed were detected, and the main breed-specific parameters of distribution of genetic markers were described.

RESUMEN

The comparative characterization of the level of development of some reproductive qualities of sows of three breeds from five breeding herds of the southern regions of Ukraine was performed in relation to peculiarities of genotypes with respect to some genetic systems of blood groups and serum proteins. Its results favor the complex approach for predicting animal productivity on the basis of data of immunogenetic analysis.

RESUMEN

Breeding of pigs in a closed herd during three generations under industrial complex conditions does not essentially increase the number of animals with homozygous genotypes of polymorphic systems of blood groups. One of the possible causes of this phenomenon is selection favourable to animals with a higher heterozygosity.

RESUMEN

Efficient quenching of fluorescence was shown to proceed in the complexes of chlorophyll a and its analogs with tetracyanochinodimethane (TCD), 1,3,5-trinitrobenzene (TNB), m-dinitrobenzene (DNB) and n-benzoquinone. In chlorophyll a--TCD and--DNB complexes quenching is characterized by the rate constant approximately greater than 5 x 10(10) s-1, and in chlorophyll a--n-benzoquinone greater approximately than 5 x 10(9) s-1. Possible ways of desactivation of singlet-excited state of chlorophyll a in the complexes with TCD and TNB were analysed. No triplet states of chlorophyll a complexes with TCD and TNB and no cation-radicals were recorded. It is suggested that efficient desactivation of the pigment singlet-excited state may be explained by a reversible phototransfer of the electron.
