BACKGROUND: The Index of Severity for Eosinophilic Esophagitis (I-SEE) is a new expert-defined clinical tool that classifies disease severity of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). OBJECTIVE: We aimed to determine whether I-SEE is associated with patient characteristics, molecular features of EoE, or both. METHODS: We analyzed a prospective cohort of patients with EoE from the Consortium of Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease Researchers (CEGIR). Associations between I-SEE and clinical and molecular features (assessed by an EoE diagnostic panel [EDP]) were assessed. RESULTS: In 318 patients with chronic EoE (209 adults, 109 children), median total I-SEE score was 7.0, with a higher symptoms and complications score in children than adults (4.0 vs 1.0; P < .001) and higher inflammatory and fibrostenotic features scores in adults than children (3.0 vs 1.0 and 3.0 vs 0, respectively; both P < .001). Total I-SEE score had a bimodal distribution with the inactive to moderate categories and severe category. EDP score correlated with total I-SEE score (r = -0.352, P < .001) and both inflammatory and fibrostenotic features scores (r = -0.665, P < .001; r = -0.446, P < .001, respectively), but not with symptoms and complications scores (r = 0.047, P = .408). Molecular severity increased from inactive to mild and moderate, but not severe, categories. Longitudinal changes of modified I-SEE scores and inflammatory and fibrostenotic features scores reflected histologic and molecular activity. CONCLUSIONS: I-SEE score is associated with select clinical features across severity categories and with EoE molecular features for nonsevere categories, warranting further validation.

BACKGROUND: Studies that have methodically compiled the body of research on the competency-based medical education (CBME) assessment procedure and pinpointed knowledge gaps about the structure of the assessment process are few. Thus, the goals of the study were to create a model assessment framework for competency-based medical education that would be applicable in the Indian setting as well as to thoroughly examine the competency-based medical education assessment framework. METHODS: PubMed, MEDLINE (Ovid), EMBASE (Ovid), Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar were the databases that were searched. The search parameters were restricted to English language publications about competency-based education and assessment methods, which were published between January 2006 and December 2020. A descriptive overview of the included research (in tabular form) served as the foundation for the data synthesis. RESULTS: Databases provided 732 records; out of which 36 fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Thirty-six studies comprised a mix of randomized controlled trials, focus group interviews, and questionnaire studies, including cross-sectional studies, qualitative studies (03), mixed-method studies, etc. The papers were published in 10 different journals. The greatest number was published in BMC Medical Education (18). The average quality score for included studies was 62.53% (range: 35.71-83.33%). Most authors are from the UK (07), followed by the USA (05). The included studies were grouped into seven categories based on their dominant focus: moving away from a behavioristic approach to a constructive approach of assessment (01 studies), formative assessment (FA) and feedback (10 studies), the hurdles in the implementation of feedback (04 studies), utilization of computer or online based formative test with automated feedback (05 studies), video feedback (02 studies), e-learning platforms for formative assessment (04 studies), studies related to workplace-based assessment (WBA)/mini-clinical evaluation exercise (mini-CEX)/direct observation of procedural skills (DOPS) (10 studies). CONCLUSIONS: Various constructivist techniques, such as concept maps, portfolios, and rubrics, can be used for assessments. Self-regulated learning, peer feedback, online formative assessment, an online computer-based formative test with automated feedback, the use of a computerized web-based objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) evaluation system, and the use of narrative feedback instead of numerical scores in mini-CEX are all ways to increase student involvement in the design and implementation of the formative assessment.

BACKGROUND: The mechanistic basis of the variable symptomatology seen in eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) remains poorly understood. OBJECTIVE: We examined the correlation of a validated, patient-reported outcome metric with a broad spectrum of esophageal transcripts to uncover potential symptom pathogenesis. METHODS: We extracted data from 146 adults with EoE through the Consortium of Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease Researchers. Patients were subgrouped by esophageal dilation history. We compared a validated patient-reported outcome metric, the EoE Activity Index (EEsAI), with a set of transcripts expressed in the esophagus of patients with EoE, the EoE Diagnostic Panel (EDP). We used single-cell RNA sequencing data to identify the cellular source of EEsAI-related EDP genes and further analyzed patients with mild and severe symptoms. RESULTS: The EEsAI correlated with the EDP total score, especially in patients without recent esophageal dilation (r = -0.31; P = .003). We identified 14 EDP genes that correlated with EEsAI scores (r ≥ 0.3; P < .05). Of these, 11 were expressed in nonepithelial cells and three in epithelial cells. During histologic remission, only four of 11 nonepithelial genes (36%) versus all three epithelial genes (100%) had decreased expression to less than 50% of that in active EoE. Fibroblasts expressed five of 11 nonepithelial EEsAI-associated EDP genes (45%). A subset of nonepithelial genes (eight of 11; 73%), but not EoE-representative genes (none of four; 0%; CCL26, CAPN14, DSG1, and SPINK7), was upregulated in patients with EoE with the highest versus lowest symptom burden. CONCLUSION: The correlation of symptoms and nonepithelial esophageal gene expression substantiates that nonepithelial cells (eg, fibroblasts) likely contribute to symptom severity.

Data for pharmacologic treatments for non-eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases (EGIDs) are limited. Nevertheless, because of the increasing understanding of EGID pathogenesis, a number of medications are used to treat EGIDs, though all are currently off-label. Initial therapy generally starts with corticosteroids, and "topical" delivery is preferred over systemic due to long-term side effects. A number of other small molecules could potentially be used, ranging from allergy medications to immunosuppressants. Biologics are also being used and investigated for EGIDs and represent promising targeted therapies. Multiple therapeutic targets have also been identified, many of which overlap with EoE targets.

Most 3d metal-based single-molecule magnets (SMMs) use N-ligands or ligands with even softer donors to impart a particular coordination geometry and increase the zero-field splitting parameter |D|, while complexes with hard O-donor ligands showing slow magnetization relaxation are rare. Here, we report that a diamagnetic NiII complex of a tetradentate ligand featuring two N-heterocyclic carbene and two alkoxide-O donors, [LO,ONi], can serve as a {O,O'}-chelating metalloligand to give a trinuclear complex [(LO,ONi)Co(LO,ONi)](OTf)2 (2) with an elongated tetrahedral {CoIIO4} core, D = -74.3 cm-1, and a spin reversal barrier Ueff = 86.9 cm-1 in the absence of an external dc field. The influence of diamagnetic NiII on the electronic structure of the {CoO4} unit in comparison to [Co(OPh)4]2- (A) has been probed with multireference ab initio calculations. These reveal a contrapolarizing effect of the NiII, which forms stronger metal-alkoxide bonds than the central CoII, inducing a change in ligand field splitting and a 5-fold increase in the magnetic anisotropy in 2 compared to A, with an easy magnetization axis along the Ni-Co-Ni vector. This demonstrates a strategy to enhance the SMM properties of 3d metal complexes with hard O-donors by modulating the ligand field character via the coordination of diamagnetic ions and the benefit of robust metalloligands in that regard.

INTRODUCTION: Eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders beyond eosinophilic esophagitis (non-EoE EGIDs) are rare chronic inflammatory disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Diagnosis is based on clinical symptoms and histologic findings of eosinophilic inflammation after exclusion of a secondary cause or systemic disease. Currently, no guidelines exist for the evaluation of non-EoE EGIDs. Therefore, the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) formed a task force group to provide consensus guidelines for childhood non-EoE EGIDs. METHODS: The working group was composed of pediatric gastroenterologists, adult gastroenterologists, allergists/immunologists, and pathologists. An extensive electronic literature search of the MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases was conducted up to February 2022. General methodology was used in the formulation of recommendations according to the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation (AGREE) II and the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) system to meet current standards of evidence assessment. RESULTS: The guidelines provide information on the current concept of non-EoE EGIDs, disease pathogenesis, epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnostic and disease surveillance procedures, and current treatment options. Thirty-four statements based on available evidence and 41 recommendations based on expert opinion and best clinical practices were developed. CONCLUSION: Non-EoE EGIDs literature is limited in scope and depth, making clear recommendations difficult. These consensus-based clinical practice guidelines are intended to assist clinicians caring for children affected by non-EoE EGIDs and to facilitate high-quality randomized controlled trials of various treatment modalities using standardized, uniform disease definitions.

Three mononuclear cobalt(II) tetrahedral complexes [Co(CzPh2PO)2X2] (CzPh2PO = (9H-carbazol-9-yl)diphenylphosphine oxide and X = Cl (1), Br (2), I (3)) have been synthesized using a simple synthetic approach to examine their single-ion magnetic (SIM) behavior. A detailed study of the variation in the dynamic magnetic properties of the Co(II) ion in a tetrahedral ligand field has been carried out by the change of the halide ligand. The axial zero-field splitting parameter D was found to vary from -16.4 cm-1 in 1 to -13.8 cm-1 in 2 and +14.6 cm-1 in 3. All the new complexes exhibit field-induced SIM behavior. The results obtained from ab initio CASSF calculations match well with the experimental data, revealing how halide ions induce a change in the D value as we move from Cl- to I-. The ab initio calculations further reveal that the change in the sign of D is due to the multideterminant characteristics of the ground state wave function of 1 and 2, while single-determinant characteristics are instead observed for 3. To gain a better understanding of the relationship between the structural distortion and the sign and magnitude of D values, magnetostructural D correlations were developed using angular relationships, revealing the importance of structural distortions over the heavy halide effect in controlling the sign of D values. This study broadens the scope of employing electronically and sterically modified phosphine oxide ligands in building new types of air-stable Co(II) SIMs.

The Consortium of Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Diseases and The International Gastrointestinal Eosinophil Researchers organized a day-long symposium at the 2022 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. The symposium featured a review of recent discoveries in the basic biology and pathogenesis of eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases (EGIDs) in addition to advances in our understanding of the clinical features of EGIDs. Diagnostic and management approaches were reviewed and debated, and clinical trials of emerging therapies were highlighted. Herein, we briefly summarize the breakthrough discoveries in EGIDs.

OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of budesonide oral suspension (BOS) in adolescents with eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). METHODS: This post hoc analysis pooled data from two 12-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies of BOS 2.0 mg twice daily (b.i.d.) (phase 2, NCT01642212; phase 3, NCT02605837) in patients aged 11-17 years with EoE and dysphagia. Efficacy endpoints included histologic (≤6, ≤1, and <15 eosinophils per high-power field [eos/hpf]), dysphagia symptom (≥30% reduction in Dysphagia Symptom Questionnaire [DSQ] scores from baseline), and clinicopathologic (≤6 eos/hpf and ≥30% reduction in DSQ scores from baseline) responses at week 12. Change from baseline to week 12 in peak eosinophil counts, DSQ scores, EoE Histology Scoring System (EoEHSS) grade (severity) and stage (extent) total score ratios (TSRs), and total EoE Endoscopic Reference Scores (EREFS) were assessed. Safety outcomes were also examined. RESULTS: Overall, 76 adolescents were included (BOS, n = 45; placebo, n = 31). Significantly more patients who received BOS than placebo achieved histologic responses (≤6 eos/hpf: 46.7% vs 6.5%; ≤1 eos/hpf: 42.2% vs 0.0%; <15 eos/hpf: 53.3% vs 9.7%; P < 0.001) and a clinicopathologic response (31.1% vs 3.2%; P = 0.003) at week 12. More BOS-treated than placebo-treated patients achieved a dysphagia symptom response at week 12 (68.9% vs 58.1%; not statistically significant P = 0.314). BOS-treated patients had significantly greater reductions in EoEHSS grade and stage TSRs ( P < 0.001) and total EREFS ( P = 0.021) from baseline to week 12 than placebo-treated patients. BOS was well tolerated, with no clinically meaningful differences in adverse events versus placebo. CONCLUSIONS: BOS 2.0 mg b.i.d. significantly improved most efficacy outcomes in adolescents with EoE versus placebo.

There is a lack of studies that have systematically synthesized the existing literature related to the competency-based medical education (CBME) assessment process and identified gaps in existing knowledge about the assessment process structure. The aims of this study are as follows: 1. A systematic review of the assessment framework of CBME 2. Designing a model framework of assessment for CBME that will be relevant in the Indian context. The databases searched will be PubMed, MEDLINE (Ovid), EMBASE (Ovid), Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. General limits to the search will be set in the English language, published between January 2006 and December 2020, specific to competency-based education and assessment methods. After initial screening for duplicates and search limits, the title and abstract of the remaining studies will be screened. Subsequently, the full text of the articles will be screened against the inclusion and exclusion criteria for final selection. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) flowchart of the systematic review will be used to describe the selection of the studies. The article quality will be assessed using the quality assessment tool for diverse study designs (QATSDD). The data synthesis will start with a descriptive summary (in tabular form) of the included studies. This study will try to provide comprehensive data to address challenges related to the CBME assessment process, which can help in evolving the robust assessment framework of CBME.

The active site of nitrous oxide reductase (N2OR), a key enzyme in denitrification, features a unique µ4-sulfido-bridged tetranuclear Cu cluster (the so-called CuZ or CuZ* site). Details of the catalytic mechanism have remained under debate and, to date, synthetic model complexes of the CuZ*/CuZ sites are extremely rare due to the difficulty in building the unique {Cu4(µ4-S)} core structure. Herein, we report the synthesis and characterization of [Cu4(µ4-S)]n+ (n = 2, 2; n = 3, 3) clusters, supported by a macrocyclic {py2NHC4} ligand (py = pyridine, NHC = N-heterocyclic carbene), in both their 0-hole (2) and 1-hole (3) states, thus mimicking the two active states of the CuZ* site during enzymatic N2O reduction. Structural and electronic properties of these {Cu4(µ4-S)} clusters are elucidated by employing multiple methods, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), UV/vis, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), Cu/S K-edge X-ray emission spectroscopy (XES), and Cu K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) in combination with time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) calculations. A significant geometry change of the {Cu4(µ4-S)} core occurs upon oxidation from 2 (τ4(S) = 0.46, seesaw) to 3 (τ4(S) = 0.03, square planar), which has not been observed so far for the biological CuZ(*) site and is unprecedented for known model complexes. The single electron of the 1-hole species 3 is predominantly delocalized over two opposite Cu ions via the central S atom, mediated by a π/π superexchange pathway. Cu K-edge XAS and Cu/S K-edge XES corroborate a mixed Cu/S-based oxidation event in which the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) has a significant S-character. Furthermore, preliminary reactivity studies evidence a nucleophilic character of the central µ4-S in the fully reduced 0-hole state.

BACKGROUND: Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic antigen-mediated eosinophilic inflammatory disease isolated to the esophagus. As a clinicopathologic disorder, a diagnosis of EoE requires a constellation of clinical symptoms of esophageal dysfunction and histologic findings (at least 15 eosinophils/high-powered microscope field (eos/hpf)). Current guidelines no longer require the failure of response to proton pump inhibitor medications to establish a diagnosis of EoE, but continue to suggest the exclusion of other etiologies of esophageal eosinophilia. The treatment goals for EoE are improvement in clinical symptoms, resolution of esophageal eosinophilia and other histologic abnormalities, endoscopic improvement, improved quality of life, improved esophageal function, minimized adverse effects of treatment, and prevention of disease progression and subsequent complications. Currently, there is no cure for EoE, making long-term treatment necessary. Standard treatment modalities include dietary modifications, esophageal dilation, and pharmacologic therapy. Effective pharmacologic therapies include corticosteroids, rapidly emerging biological therapies, and proton pump inhibitor medications. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of medical interventions for people with eosinophilic esophagitis. SEARCH METHODS: We searched CENTRAL, MEDLINE, Embase, ClinicalTrials.gov, and WHO ICTRP to 3 March 2023. SELECTION CRITERIA: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing any medical intervention or food elimination diet for the treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis, either alone or in combination, to any other intervention (including placebo). DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS: Pairs of review authors independently selected studies and conducted data extraction and risk of bias assessment. We expressed outcomes as a risk ratio (RR) and as the mean or standardized mean difference (MD/SMD) with 95% confidence interval (CI). We assessed the certainty of the evidence using GRADE. Our primary outcomes were: clinical, histological, and endoscopic improvement, and withdrawals due to adverse events. Secondary outcomes were: serious and total adverse events, and quality of life. MAIN RESULTS: We included 41 RCTs with 3253 participants. Eleven studies included pediatric patients while the rest recruited both children and adults. Four studies were in patients with inactive disease while the rest were in patients with active disease. We identified 19 intervention comparisons. In this abstract we present the results of the primary outcomes for the two main comparisons: corticosteroids versus placebo and biologics versus placebo, based on the prespecified outcomes defined of the primary studies. Fourteen studies compared corticosteroids to placebo for induction of remission and the risk of bias for these studies was mostly low. Corticosteroids may lead to slightly better clinical improvement (20% higher), measured dichotomously (risk ratio (RR) 1.74, 95% CI 1.08 to 2.80; 6 studies, 583 participants; number needed to treat for an additional beneficial outcome (NNTB) = 4; low certainty), and may lead to slightly better clinical improvement, measured continuously (standard mean difference (SMD) 0.51, 95% CI 0.17 to 0.85; 5 studies, 475 participants; low certainty). Corticosteroids lead to a large histological improvement (63% higher), measured dichotomously (RR 11.94, 95% CI 6.56 to 21.75; 12 studies, 978 participants; NNTB = 3; high certainty), and may lead to histological improvement, measured continuously (SMD 1.42, 95% CI 1.02 to 1.82; 5 studies, 449 participants; low certainty). Corticosteroids may lead to little to no endoscopic improvement, measured dichotomously (RR 2.60, 95% CI 0.82 to 8.19; 5 studies, 596 participants; low certainty), and may lead to endoscopic improvement, measured continuously (SMD 1.33, 95% CI 0.59 to 2.08; 5 studies, 596 participants; low certainty). Corticosteroids may lead to slightly fewer withdrawals due to adverse events (RR 0.64, 95% CI 0.43 to 0.96; 14 studies, 1032 participants; low certainty). Nine studies compared biologics to placebo for induction of remission. Biologics may result in little to no difference in clinical improvement, measured dichotomously (RR 1.14, 95% CI 0.85 to 1.52; 5 studies, 410 participants; low certainty), and may result in better clinical improvement, measured continuously (SMD 0.50, 95% CI 0.22 to 0.78; 7 studies, 387 participants; moderate certainty). Biologics result in better histological improvement (55% higher), measured dichotomously (RR 6.73, 95% CI 2.58 to 17.52; 8 studies, 925 participants; NNTB = 2; moderate certainty). We could not draw conclusions for this outcome when measured continuously (SMD 1.01, 95% CI 0.36 to 1.66; 6 studies, 370 participants; very low certainty). Biologics may result in little to no difference in endoscopic improvement, measured dichotomously (effect not estimable, low certainty). We cannot draw conclusions for this outcome when measured continuously (SMD 2.79, 95% CI 0.36 to 5.22; 1 study, 11 participants; very low certainty). There may be no difference in withdrawals due to adverse events (RR 1.55, 95% CI 0.88 to 2.74; 8 studies, 792 participants; low certainty). AUTHORS' CONCLUSIONS: Corticosteroids (as compared to placebo) may lead to clinical symptom improvement when reported both as dichotomous and continuous outcomes, from the primary study definitions. Corticosteroids lead to a large increase in histological improvement (dichotomous outcome) and may increase histological improvement (continuous outcome) when compared to placebo. Corticosteroids may or may not increase endoscopic improvement (depending on whether the outcome is measured dichotomously or continuously). Withdrawals due to adverse events (dichotomous outcome) may occur less frequently when corticosteroids are compared to placebo. Biologics (as compared to placebo) may not lead to clinical symptom improvement when reported as a dichotomous outcome and may lead to an increase in clinical symptom improvement (as a continuous outcome), from the primary study definitions. Biologics lead to a large increase in histological improvement when reported as a dichotomous outcome, but this is uncertain when reported as a continuous outcome, as compared to placebo. Biologics may not increase endoscopic improvement (dichotomous outcome), but this is uncertain when measured as a continuous outcome. Withdrawals due to adverse events as a dichotomous outcome may occur as frequently when biologics are compared to placebo.

For single-ion magnets (SIMs), understanding the effects of the local coordination environment and ligand field on magnetic anisotropy is key to controlling their magnetic properties. Here we present a series of tetracoordinate cobalt(ii) complexes of the general formula [FL2Co]X2 (where FL is a bidentate diamido ligand) whose electron-withdrawing -C6F5 substituents confer stability under ambient conditions. Depending on the cations X, these complexes adopt structures with greatly varying dihedral twist angle δ between the N-Co-N' chelate planes in the solid state (48.0 to 89.2°). AC and DC field magnetic susceptibility measurements show this to translate into very different magnetic properties, the axial zero-field splitting (ZFS) parameter D ranging from -69 cm-1 to -143 cm-1 with substantial or negligible rhombic component E, respectively. A close to orthogonal arrangement of the two N,N'-chelating σ- and π-donor ligands at the Co(ii) ion is found to raise the energy barrier for magnetic relaxation to above 400 K. Multireference ab initio methods were employed to describe the complexes' electronic structures, and the results were analyzed within the framework of ab initio ligand field theory to probe the nature of the metal-ligand bonding and spin-orbit coupling. A relationship between the energy gaps of the first few electronic transitions and the ZFS was established, and the ZFS was correlated with the dihedral angle δ as well as with the metal-ligand bonding variations, viz. the two angular overlap parameters eσ and eπs. These findings not only give rise to a Co(ii) SIM showing open hysteresis up to 3.5 K at a sweep rate of 30 Oe s-1, but they also provide design guidelines for Co(ii) complexes with favorable SIM signatures or even switchable magnetic relaxation properties.

Single-ion magnets (SIMs) have attracted wide attention in recent years. Despite tremendous progress in late lanthanide SIMs, reports on early lanthanides exhibiting SIM characteristics are scarce. A series of five novel 18-crown-6 encapsulated mononuclear early lanthanide(III) organophosphates, [{(18-crown-6)Ln(dippH)3}{(18-crown-6)Ln(dippH)2(dippH2)}]·[I3] [Ln = Ce (1), Pr (2), Nd (3)] and [{Ln(18-crown-6)(dippH)2(H2O)}·{I3}] [Ln = Sm (4) and Eu (5)], have been synthesised in the present study. 18-crown-6 coordinates to Ln(III) ions in an equatorial position while the axial positions are occupied by either three phosphate moieties as in 1-3 or two phosphate moieties and one water molecule as in 4 and 5, resulting in a muffin-shaped coordination geometry around the Ln(III) centres. Magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal that Ce and Nd complexes are field-induced single-ion magnets with significant barrier heights. Furthermore, the ab initio CASSCF/RASSI-SO/SINGLE_ANISO calculations on complexes 1 and 3 reveal significant QTM in the ground state rationalising the field-induced single-ion magnetism behaviour of these complexes.

Given the variety of preparations and lack of standardization of swallowed topical corticosteroids (STC) for treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), we sought to better understand STC prescribing practices of pediatric gastroenterologists. A 12-question survey was distributed to members of North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease Special Interest Group and responses were analyzed. Forty-two of 68 physicians responded. Oral viscous budesonide (OVB) was overall first choice STC in 31 (74%) survey respondents, with OVB most frequently utilized in patients under 5 years old and fluticasone propionate in patients 13-18 years old. Nineteen types of mixing vehicles were used for OVB preparation, the 3 most frequent being sucralose, honey, and artificial maple syrup. Insurance coverage, cost, and patient compliance were most frequently cited barriers to STC use. Highly variable STC prescribing practices reported by this group highlights the need for standardization of STC treatment in EoE.
