OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of nursing intervention and quality feedback guided by stress system theory on neurological function recovery and post-traumatic growth in patients with cerebral hemorrhage. METHODS: 120 patients with cerebral hemorrhage admitted to our hospital from October 2022 to November 2023 were selected, 47 patients in the control group received routine medical care, and 73 patients in the observation group were added nursing intervention measures under the guidance of stress system theory on this basis. The effects of the intervention were evaluated by Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI), self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), self-rating Depression Scale (SDS), Barthel index (BI) and Chinese scale of clinical neurological impairment in stroke patients (CSS). RESULTS: After intervention, the PTGI score in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (p < 0.05). The SAS and SDS scores were significantly lower than those of the control group (p < 0.001), indicating that the nursing intervention effectively alleviated the anxiety and depression of patients. At the same time, the BI index of the observation group was significantly increased, and the CSS score was significantly decreased (p < 0.001), indicating that the patients' self-care ability of daily life and the recovery level of neurological function were significantly improved. CONCLUSION: Nursing intervention and quality feedback strategy under the guidance of stress system theory can effectively improve the neurological recovery ability and post-traumatic growth level of patients with cerebral hemorrhage, and has a significant effect on improving the psychological state and quality of life of patients.

Submicron particulate matter (PM1) poses significant risks to health risks and global climate. In this study, secondary organic aerosols (SOA) and inorganic compositions were examined for their physicochemical characteristics and evolution using high-resolution aerosol instruments in Changzhou over one-month period. The results showed that transport accompanied by regional static conditions leaded to the occurrence of heavy pollution. In addition, regional generation and local emissions also leaded to the occurrence of light and moderate pollution during the observation period in Changzhou. Organic aerosols (OA) and nitrate (NO3-) accounted for 45 % and 23 % of PM1, respectively. The increase in PM1 was dominated by the contribution of NO3- and OA. SOA was dominance in OA (63 % with 40 % MO-OOA), which was higher than primary organic aerosols (POA). Besides, photochemical reactions and the high oxidizing nature of the urban atmosphere promoted the production of OA, especially MO-OOA in Changzhou. Our results highlight that secondary particles contribute significantly to PM pollution in Changzhou, underlining the importance of controlling emissions of gaseous precursors, especially under high oxidation conditions.

Stereolithographic additive manufacturing technology has developed from point-by-point scanning exposure to layer-by-layer masking curing and even volumetric printing. Rapid prototyping is one of the important goals pursued by researchers. A continuous three-dimensional (3D) printing system based on the dual-color photoinitiation and photoinhibition is proposed with the aim of further improving printing speed. The process of continuous 3D printing is realized through the anti-polymerization layer between the cured part and the window generated by the ultraviolet (UV) light sheet (355 nm), and dynamic masking with the blue light (470 nm). The volume of the anti-polymerization layer can be adjusted by the intensity ratio of the incident lights (IUV, 0/Iblue,0) and the size of UV laser spot to enhance the reflow filling rate of the liquid resin. For the orthogonal Gaussian anti-polymerization layer, an intensity ratio of 28.6 allows for an inhibition volume of 97.1% of the desired rectangular anti-polymerization zone with a height of 1 mm. The simulation analysis of continuous 3D printing process by flow-structure interaction reveals that the increase of the thickness of the anti-polymerization layer effectively improves the filling rate of the resin and the cross-sectional area of printing, and reduces the stress of the cured part. The experiments with two different 3D structures printing demonstrate that the filling rate and the stress have virtually no effect on the printing process at a large-scale thickness of the anti-polymerization layer, and the printing speed is capable of reaching 200 µm/s. Certainly, the printing volume and complexity can be further improved with the improvement of the system and the optimization of the resin.

OBJECTIVES: Bone morphogenetic protein-4 (BMP4) has been proved to be an important regulatory factor for the pathological process of atherosclerosis (AS). However, there are few related clinical studies. This study aims to investigate the levels of plasma BMP4 in patients suffering from the arterial occlusive diseases (ACD) characterized by AS, and further to test the relationship between BMP4 and inflammation and vascular injury. METHODS: A total of 38 ACD patients (the ACD group) and 38 healthy people for the physical examination (the control group) were enrolled. The plasma in each subject from both groups was obtained to test the levels of BMP4, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß), IL-10, and vascular endothelial cadherin (VE-cadherin), and the relationship between BMP4 and the detected indicators above were further analyzed. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the patients in the ACD group displayed significant elevations in the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio [NLR, 1.63 (1.26, 1.91) vs 3.43 (2.16, 6.61)] and platelet to lymphocyte ratio [PLR, 6.37 (5.26, 7.74) vs 15.79 (7.97, 20.53)], while decrease in the lymphocyte to monocyte ratio [LMR, 5.67 (4.41, 7.14) vs 3.43 (2.07, 3.74)] (all P<0.05). Besides, the ACD patients displayed significant elevations in plasma BMP4 [581.26 (389.85, 735.64) pg/mL vs 653.97(510.95, 890.43) pg/mL], TNF-α [254.16 (182.96, 340.70) pg/mL vs 293.29(238.90, 383.44) pg/mL], and VE-cadherin [1.54 (1.08, 2.13) ng/mL vs 1.85 (1.30, 2.54) ng/mL], and decrease in IL-10 [175.89 (118.39, 219.25) pg/mL vs 135.92 (95.80, 178.04) pg/mL] (all P<0.05). While the levels of IL-1ß remained statistically comparable between the 2 groups (P=0.09). Furthermore, the plasma BMP4 levels were further revealed to be positively correlated with the levels of IL-1ß (r=0.35), TNF-α (r=0.31) and VE-cadherin (r=0.47), while they were negatively correlated with the levels of IL-10 (r=-0.37; all P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS: After ACD occurrence, the patients' plasma concentrations of BMP4 would be upregulated, which may serve as a candidate to indicate the levels of inflammation and vascular injury.

The landscape pattern determines water pollution source and sink processes and plays an important role in regulating river water quality. Due to scale effects, studies on the relationship between landscape pattern and river water quality showed variance at different scales. However, there is still a lack of integrated study on the scale effect of landscape pattern and river water quality dynamics. This study collected 4 041 data from results of previous publications to address the characteristics of landscape pattern and river water quality dynamics at different scales and to identify the key temporal and spatial scales as well as landscape pattern indices for regulating river water quality. The results indicated that, compared to precipitation events, base flow periods, and interannual scales, the high-flow period was the key temporal scale for linking landscape pattern on river water quality. Compared to the watershed scale, the landscape pattern of buffer zones had a greater impact on river water quality. The high-flow period-buffer zone scale was the key spatiotemporal coupling scale for linking landscape pattern and river water quality. Compared to croplands, water bodies, grasslands, and the overall landscape of the watershed, the landscape pattern of forests and urban areas had a greater impact on river water quality. Fragmentation degree was the most important landscape pattern factor regulating river water quality. In river water quality management, it is important to focus on the landscape configuration of buffer zones, increase forest area, reduce patch density of forests and water bodies, and decrease the aggregation degree of urban areas.

Double-walled metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), synthesized using Zn and Co, are potential porous materials for trace benzene adsorption. Aluminum is with low-toxicity and abundance in nature, in comparison with Zn and Co. Therefore, a double-walled Al-based MOF, named as ZJU-520(Al), with large microporous specific surface area of 2235 m2 g-1, pore size distribution in the range of 9.26-12.99 Å and excellent chemical stability, was synthesized. ZJU-520(Al) is consisted by helical chain of AlO6 clusters and 4,6-Di(4-carboxyphenyl)pyrimidine ligands. Trace benzene adsorption of ZJU-520(Al) is up to 5.98 mmol g-1 at 298 K and P/P0 = 0.01. Adsorbed benzene molecules are trapped on two types of sites. One (site I) is near the AlO6 clusters, another (site II) is near the N atom of ligands, using Grand Canonical Monte Carlo simulations. ZJU-520(Al) can effectively separate trace benzene from mixed vapor flow of benzene and cyclohexane, due to the adsorption affinity of benzene higher than that of cyclohexane. Therefore, ZJU-520(Al) is a potential adsorbent for trace benzene adsorption and benzene/cyclohexane separation.

Malocclusion, identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of three major oral diseases, profoundly impacts the dental-maxillofacial functions, facial esthetics, and long-term development of ~260 million children in China. Beyond its physical manifestations, malocclusion also significantly influences the psycho-social well-being of these children. Timely intervention in malocclusion can foster an environment conducive to dental-maxillofacial development and substantially decrease the incidence of malocclusion or reduce the severity and complexity of malocclusion in the permanent dentition, by mitigating the negative impact of abnormal environmental influences on the growth. Early orthodontic treatment encompasses accurate identification and treatment of dental and maxillofacial morphological and functional abnormalities during various stages of dental-maxillofacial development, ranging from fetal stages to the early permanent dentition phase. From an economic and societal standpoint, the urgency for effective early orthodontic treatments for malocclusions in childhood cannot be overstated, underlining its profound practical and social importance. This consensus paper discusses the characteristics and the detrimental effects of malocclusion in children, emphasizing critical need for early treatment. It elaborates on corresponding core principles and fundamental approaches in early orthodontics, proposing comprehensive guidance for preventive and interceptive orthodontic treatment, serving as a reference for clinicians engaged in early orthodontic treatment.

Growth hormone inducible transmembrane protein (GHITM), one member of Bax inhibitory protein-like family, has been rarely studied, and the clinical importance and biological functions of GHITM in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) still remain unknown. In the present study, we found that GHITM was downregulated in KIRC. Aberrant GHITM downregulation related to clinicopathological feature and unfavourable prognosis of KIRC patients. GHITM overexpression inhibited KIRC cell proliferation, migration and invasion in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, GHITM overexpression could induce the downregulation of Notch1, which acts as an oncogene in KIRC. Overexpression of Notch1 effectively rescued the inhibitory effect induced by GHITM upregulation. More importantly, GHITM could regulate PD-L1 protein abundance and ectopic overexpression of GHITM enhanced the antitumour efficiency of PD-1 blockade in KIRC, which provided new insights into antitumour therapy. Furthermore, we also showed that YY1 could decrease GHITM level via binding to its promoter. Taken together, our study revealed that GHITM was a promising therapeutic target for KIRC, which could modulate malignant phenotype and sensitivity to PD-1 blockade of renal cancer cells via Notch signalling pathway.

Exercise is an effective non-pharmacological strategy for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), but the underlying mechanism needs further investigation. Kruppel-like factor 10 (Klf10) is a transcriptional factor that is expressed in multiple tissues including liver, whose role in NASH is not well defined. In our study, exercise induces hepatic Klf10 expression through the cAMP/PKA/CREB pathway. Hepatocyte-specific knockout of Klf10 (Klf10LKO) increases lipid accumulation, cell death, inflammation and fibrosis in NASH diet-fed mice and reduces the protective effects of treadmill exercise against NASH, while hepatocyte-specific overexpression of Klf10 (Klf10LTG) works in concert with exercise to reduce NASH in mice. Mechanistically, Klf10 promotes the expression of fumarate hydratase 1 (Fh1), thereby reducing fumarate accumulation in hepatocytes. This decreases the trimethyl (me3) levels of histone 3 lysine 4 (H3K4me3) on lipogenic genes promoters to attenuate lipogenesis, thus ameliorating free fatty acids (FFAs)-induced hepatocytes steatosis, apoptosis, insulin resistance and blunting dysfunctional hepatocytes-mediated activation of macrophages and hepatic stellate cells. Therefore, by regulating the Fh1/fumarate/H3K4me3 pathway, Klf10 acts as a downstream effector of exercise to combat NASH.

Although the knee joint (KNJ) and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) all belong to the synovial joint, there are many differences in developmental origin, joint structure and articular cartilage type. Studies of joint development in embryos have been performed, mainly using poultry and rodents. However, KNJ and TMJ in poultry and rodents differ from those in humans in several ways. Very little work has been done on the embryonic development of KNJ and TMJ in large mammals. Several studies have shown that pigs are ideal animals for embryonic development research. Embryonic day 30 (E30), E35, E45, E55, E75, E90, Postnatal day 0 (P0) and Postnatal day 30 (P30) embryos/fetuses from the pigs were used for this study. The results showed that KNJ develops earlier than TMJ. Only one mesenchymal condensate of KNJ is formed on E30, while two mesenchymal condensates of TMJ are present on E35. All structures of KNJ and TMJ were formed on E45. The growth plate of KNJ begins to develop on E45 and becomes more pronounced from E55 to P30. From E75 to E90, more and more vascular-rich cartilage canals form in the cartilage regions of both joints. The cartilaginous canal of the TMJ divides the condyle into sections along the longitudinal axis of the condyle. This arrangement of cartilaginous canal was not found in the KNJ. The chondrification of KNJ precedes that of TMJ. Ossification of the knee condyle occurs gradually from the middle to the periphery, while that of the TMJ occurs gradually from the base of the mandibular condyle. In the KNJ, the ossification of the articular condyle is evident from P0 to P30, and the growth plate is completely formed on P30. In the TMJ, the cartilage layer of condyle becomes thinner from P0 to P30. There is no growth plate formation in TMJ during its entire development. There is no growth plate formation in the TMJ throughout its development. The condyle may be the developmental center of the TMJ. The chondrocytes and hypertrophic chondrocytes of the growth plate are densely arranged. The condylar chondrocytes of TMJ are scattered, while the hypertrophic chondrocytes are arranged. Embryonic development of KNJ and TMJ in pigs is an important bridge for translating the results of rodent studies to medical applications.

Background: Obesity is a well-known predictor for poor postoperative outcomes of vascular surgery. However, the association between obesity and outcomes of thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) is still unclear. This systematic review and meta-analysis was performed to assess the roles of obesity in the outcomes of TEVAR. Methods: We systematically searched the Web of Science and PubMed databases to obtain articles regarding obesity and TEVAR that were published before July 2023. The odds ratio (OR) or hazard ratio (HR) was used to assess the effect of obesity on TEVAR outcomes. Body mass index (BMI) was also compared between patients experiencing adverse events after TEVAR and those not experiencing adverse events. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale was used to evaluate the quality of the enrolled studies. Results: A total of 7,849 patients from 10 studies were included. All enrolled studies were high-quality. Overall, the risk of overall mortality (OR = 1.49, 95% CI [1.02-2.17], p = 0.04) was increased in obese patients receiving TEVAR. However, the associations between obesity and overall complications (OR = 2.41, 95% CI [0.84-6.93], p = 0.10) and specific complications were all insignificant, including stroke (OR = 1.39, 95% CI [0.56-3.45], p = 0.48), spinal ischemia (OR = 0.97, 95% CI [0.64-1.47], p = 0.89), neurological complications (OR = 0.13, 95% CI [0.01-2.37], p = 0.17), endoleaks (OR = 1.02, 95% CI [0.46-2.29], p = 0.96), wound complications (OR = 0.91, 95% CI [0.28-2.96], p = 0.88), and renal failure (OR = 2.98, 95% CI [0.92-9.69], p = 0.07). In addition, the patients who suffered from postoperative overall complications (p < 0.001) and acute kidney injury (p = 0.006) were found to have a higher BMI. In conclusion, obesity is closely associated with higher risk of mortality after TEVAR. However, TEVAR may still be suitable for obese patients. Physicians should pay more attention to the perioperative management of obese patients.

AIMS: Ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is an important complication of reperfusion therapy for acute myocardial infarction, extremely compromising the cardiac benefits of revascularization, however, specific and efficient treatment for cardiac I/R injury is still lacking. Isthmin-1 (ISM1) is a novel adipokine, and plays indispensable roles in regulating glycolipid metabolism and cell survival. The present study aims to investigate the potential role and molecular mechanism of ISM1 in cardiac I/R injury using gain- and loss-of-function approaches. METHODS AND RESULTS: Cardiac-specific ISM1 overexpression and silence were achieved using an adeno-associated virus serotype 9 system, and then these mice were subjected to I/R surgery, followed by biochemical test, echocardiography and histopathologic examinations, etc. Meanwhile, neonatal rat cardiomyocytes (NRCMs) with ISM1 silence or overexpression also received simulated I/R (sI/R) injury to further verify its role in vitro. The potential downstream pathways and molecular targets of ISM1 were screened by RNA-sequencing. We also treated injured mice and NRCMs with recombinant ISM1 (rISM1) to explore whether supplementation with ISM1 was sufficient to protect against I/R injury. Furthermore, acute myocardial infarction patients with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and paired healthy controls were included to reveal the clinical relevance of circulating ISM1. Cardiac-specific ISM1 silencing aggravated while ISM1 overexpression alleviated I/R-induced acute cardiac injury and cardiac remodeling and dysfunction. Mechanistically, ISM1 targeted αvß5 integrin to facilitate the nuclear accumulation of nuclear transcription factor Y subunit alpha, transcriptionally increased soluble guanylyl cyclase beta subunit expression, and eventually enhanced cGMP generation. Besides, we confirmed that treatment with rISM1 before or after reperfusion could confer cardioprotective effects in mice. Clinically, lower ISM1 levels post-PCI was associated with worse outcome in patients. CONCLUSION: ISM1 can protect against cardiac I/R injury through cGMP-PKG signaling pathway, and it is a promising therapeutic and predictive target of cardiac I/R injury.

Wnt/ß-catenin signalling is aberrantly activated in most colorectal cancer (CRC) and is one key driver involved in the initiation and progression of CRC. However, mutations of APC gene in CRC patients retain certain activity of APC protein with decreased ß-catenin signalling and DKK4 expression significantly upregulates and represses Wnt/ß-catenin signalling in human CRC tissues, suggesting that a precisely modulated activation of the Wnt/ß-catenin pathway is essential for CRC formation and progression. The underlying reasons why a specifically reduced degree, not a fully activating degree, of ß-catenin signalling in CRC are unclear. Here, we showed that a soluble extracellular inhibitor of Wnt/ß-catenin signalling, DKK4, is an independent factor for poor outcomes in CRC patients. DKK4 secreted from CRC cells inactivates ß-catenin in fibroblasts to induce the formation of stress fibre-containing fibroblasts and myofibroblasts in culture conditions and in mouse CRC xenograft tissues, resulting in restricted expansion in tumour masses at primary sites and enhanced CRC metastasis in mouse models. Reduced ß-catenin activity by a chemical inhibitor MSAB promoted the CRC metastasis. Our findings demonstrate why reduced ß-catenin activity is needed for CRC progression and provide a mechanism by which interactions between CRC cells and stromal cells affect disease promotion.

PURPOSE: Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death from cancer among Canadian females. This study aimed to quantify and assess trends in education and income inequalities in the mortality rate of breast cancer in Canada from 1992 to 2019. METHODS: We constructed a census division-level dataset pooled from the Canadian Vital Death Statistics Database (CVSD), the Canadian Census of the Population (CCP), and the National Household Survey (NHS) to examine trends in education and income inequalities in the mortality rate of breast cancer in Canada over the study period. The age-standardized Concentration index (C) was used to quantify income and education inequalities in breast cancer mortality over time. RESULTS: The national crude mortality rate of breast cancer has decreased in Canada from 1992 to 2019, with Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec having the greatest decreases in mortality rate. The age-standardized C for education and income inequalities were always negative for all the study years, meaning that the mortality rate of breast cancer was higher among less-educated and poorer females. Moreover, the results indicate a growing trend in the concentration of breast cancer mortality among females with lower income and education from 1992 to 2019. CONCLUSION: The increasing concentration of breast cancer mortality among low socioeconomic status females remains a challenge in Canada. Continuous efforts are needed within Canadian healthcare system to improve the prevention and treatment of breast cancer for this population.

Aucubin (AU), an iridoid glycoside extracted from Eucommia ulmoides, exerts anti-osteoporotic effects by promoting osteogenesis, as reported in previous studies. Here, we investigated the effects of AU under mechanical stretch stress. MC3T3-E1 cells were treated with dexamethasone (DEX) in vitro and subjected to mechanical stretch stress to establish an osteoporotic orthodontic force cell model. AU treatment increased the mRNA and protein expressions of BMP2, OPN, RUNX2, COL-1 and other osteogenic differentiation factors in MC3T3-E1 cells. Furthermore, we established an in vivo orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) model of osteoporosis. Serum parameter detection of ALP concentration, radiography of the femur, hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining, and micro-CT of the maxilla confirmed that AU could partially reverse the damage induced by DEX. Immunohistochemical (IHC) analysis showed that AU increased the expression of COL-1, OCN, and OPN on the tension side of the periodontium. In conclusion, AU treatment promotes osteogenic differentiation under mechanical stretch stress and positively affects bone remodeling during OTM in DEX-induced osteoporosis.

CD4+Foxp3+ regulatory T cells (Tregs) play an essential role in suppressing transplant rejection, but their role within the graft and heterogeneity in tolerance are poorly understood. Here, we compared phenotypic and transcriptomic characteristics of Treg populations within lymphoid organs and grafts in an islet xenotransplant model of tolerance. We showed Tregs were essential for tolerance induction and maintenance. Tregs demonstrated heterogeneity within the graft and lymphoid organs of tolerant mice. A subpopulation of CD127hi Tregs with memory features were found in lymphoid organs, presented in high proportions within long-surviving islet grafts, and had a transcriptomic and phenotypic profile similar to tissue Tregs. Importantly, these memory-like CD127hi Tregs were better able to prevent rejection by effector T cells, after adoptive transfer into secondary Rag-/- hosts, than naive Tregs or unselected Tregs from tolerant mice. Administration of IL-7 to the CD127hi Treg subset was associated with a strong activation of phosphorylation of STAT5. We proposed that memory-like CD127hi Tregs developed within the draining lymph node and underwent further genetic reprogramming within the graft toward a phenotype that had shared characteristics with other tissue or tumor Tregs. These findings suggested that engineering Tregs with these characteristics either in vivo or for adoptive transfer could enhance transplant tolerance.

Background: The reference intervals (RIs) of adult blood lipid parameters currently used in China are not derived from the results of research in local populations and have not been adjusted for age and sex. In this study, we aimed to determine accurate RIs for blood lipid parameters and blood glucose (GluG) for Chinese adults using a national multicenter study. Methods: A total of 11,333 adults between 18 and 90 years of age were recruited in seven representative regions in China between June 2020 and December 2020. Hospitals participating in the study were regrouped into two geographical regions, southern China (Changsha, Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Nanning) and northern China (Beijing, Shenyang, and Ningxia), according to their geographical and administrative location. All samples were freshly collected and measured collectively in one laboratory on the Mindray full Automatic biochemical analyzer chemistry BS2000 analytical systems. Outliers were removed using the Tukey test. Three-level nested analysis of variance and scatter plot were used to explore the variations in sex, age, and region. Percentile curves of each indicator were plotted using the least mean square (LMS) method. The lower limit (2.5th percentile) and the upper limit (97.5th percentile) of the RI were determined by using nonparametric statistical methods. We also calculated the 90% confidence interval (CI) for the lower and upper limits. Results: A total of 8,283 participants were enrolled in the final analysis, with 3,593 (43.4%) men and 4,690 (56.6%) women. Regionality was observed in three analytes [small dense low density lipoprotein cholesterol (sd-LDLC), GluG, and apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1)]. In northern China, the sd-LDLC and GluG levels in Shenyang were significantly higher than those in Ningxia and Beijing (P<0.05). In southern China, the sd-LDLC and GluG levels in Nanning were significantly higher than those in the three other cities (P<0.05), whereas the sd-LDLC and GluG levels in Chengdu were significantly lower than those in the three other cities (P<0.05). The level of ApoA1 in Chengdu was significantly higher than that in the three other cities. The homocysteine (HCY) level in male participants was clearly higher than that in female participants [ratio of standard deviation (SDR)sex =0.56], whereas the levels of high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDLC) (SDRsex =0.40) and ApoA1 (SDRsex =0.27) in males were lower. The GluG and HCY level increased gradually with age. In females aged 45-55 years, there was an interesting change in scatter charts, where triglyceride (TG) and total cholesterol (TC) increased rapidly. We also found that for the age group of >55 years, the levels of TG and TC in females gradually surpassed those in males. Conclusions: The findings of this study may help establish age- and sex-specific reference values for the blood lipids of Chinese adults and serve as a valuable guide for the screening, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and monitoring of cardiovascular disease (CVD).

The pathological and physiological studies of Alzheimer's disease (AD) have been in-depth, and apolipoprotein E4 (ApoE4) has been proven to be highly correlated with AD, and clinical and experimental data show that ApoE4 can cause blood-brain barrier (BBB) injury, and the change of BBB permeability is an important factor affecting the development of AD. Andrographolide (Andro), as the active component of the natural plant Andrographis paniculata, has been proven to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, which have potential neuroprotective effects. To verify the protective effect of Andro on BBB in a short term, our research group used atorvastatin (Atorva)-mediated zebrafish brain injury model and the ApoE4-mediated cell co-culture model of BBB injury to explore the protective effects and mechanisms of Andro on BBB injury. Studies have shown that Andro can inhibit the activation of CypA/NF-κB/MMP-9 signaling pathway and has achieved the effect of antagonizing the inhibition of ApoE4 on intercellular tight junction proteins (occludin, claudin-5, and ZO-1). At the same time, Andro can inhibit the secretion of cell adhesion molecules (VCAM-1 and ICAM-1) in cells, thereby delaying the occurrence and progression of neuroinflammation and playing a protective role in BBB. In conclusion, Andro is a potent natural product which can protect the blood-brain barrier.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the life, sleep quality and anxiety of rosacea patients in Yunnan and the improvement of these aspects after treatment. METHODS: A total of 141 patients with rosacea and 123 healthy controls were included in our study. The quality of life, sleep quality and anxiety of patients with rosacea and healthy controls were investigated by the Rosacea Severity Scores (RSSs), the Medical Outcomes Study 36-item short-form health survey (SF-36), the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS). The quality of life, sleep quality and anxiety of patients with rosacea were assessed again after treatment. RESULTS: Compared with healthy controls, patients with rosacea had significantly lower physical component scores (PCS) and mental component scores (MCS) but higher PSQI and SAS scores. After treatment, rosacea patients showed significantly higher MCS but lower PSQI and SAS scores. Correlation analysis showed a significant correlation between PCS, MCS, PSQI, SAS and RSSs. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with rosacea have a lower quality of life and sleep quality and tend to be more anxious than healthy controls. In addition, the mental quality of life, sleep quality and anxiety of rosacea patients can be significantly improved after treatment. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the psychological status of rosacea patients. Psychological counseling and intervention are necessary to better prevent and treat rosacea.

In this work, we developed a new strategy to fabricate a series of transition metallic nanoparticles (NPs) embedded on B, N co-doped carbon nanotubes (CNTs) arrays modified flexible carbon fiber electrodes (M@BNCNTs/CF, M = Co, Fe, Ni) via facile inkjet printing assisted with chemical vapor deposition using Ionic liquid as solvent of printing ink and heteroatom dopants. Furthermore, Pt NPs via impregnation-thermal reduction process was anchored on the surface of Co@BNCNTs/CF (Pt-Co@BNCNTs/CF), which holds enhanced peroxidase-like activity and could be directly used as freestanding electrode to detect H2O2, exhibiting a low detection limit of 0.19 µM with wide linear range (0.5 µM-9.4 mM), and high sensitivity (1679 µA cm-2 mM-1). The excellent sensing performance of Pt-Co@BNCNTs/CF is attributed to the Pt, Co NPs anchored on CNTs with great catalytic activity, and the doping B, N would cause graphitic carbon with more defects to improve its inherent reactivity toward H2O2. Besides, CNTs arrays with high surface area also enlarge the exposure of active sites. Moreover, the Pt-Co@NBCNTs/CF microelectrode has been successfully applied in monitoring H2O2 secreted from human colonic cancer cells and normal colonic epithelial cells, which could offer crucial data for distinguishing various cell types and identifying cancer cells from normal cells. This work opens a new horizon to fabricate flexible miniaturized sensing device for extracellular analysis and offers an extended strategy to fabricate other metallic NPs embedded in heteroatoms doped CNTs functionalized flexible fiber electrode, by choosing diverse metal ions and ILs as inkjet printing precursors.
