Sacrospinous ligament fixation (SSLF) is widely applied to the treatment of female pelvis organ prolapsed. Contradictory findings have already been reported in the comparison of sacrocolpopexy (SC) with SSLF. The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of SC versus SSLF in treating pelvis organ prolapsed after operation. We conducted a meta-analysis of both operative approaches, including PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library. In this research, 822 articles were chosen from three databases, 201 were copied, and 10 were included. Among them, 7248 cases were operated on the prolapsed pelvis. It was found that SSLF surgery could significantly decrease the rate of postoperative wound infection after operation (odds ratio [OR], 0.59; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.42-0.82; p = 0.001). No statistical significance was found among the SSLF and the SC surgery for the post-operation haemorrhage of the patient (OR, 0.81; 95% CI, 0.23-2.83; p = 0.75). No statistical significance was found among the SSLF and the SC surgery for the postoperative period of the patient's operation (mean difference, -15.46; 95% CI, -52.87 to 21.94; p = 0.42). Applying SSLF surgery to treat pelvic prolapse in women may benefit from a reduction in the number of post-operative wound infections. However, SSLF had no statistical significance with respect to the amount of haemorrhage after operation or operation time.

Objective: This study sought to uncover the relationship between physical education courses integrated with civic education (PECICE) and prosocial behavior among university students. Additionally, we aimed to decipher the mediating roles of cultural confidence and self-esteem within this relationship. Methods: Employing a questionnaire-based approach, we assessed the relationship among PECICE, cultural confidence, self-esteem, and prosocial behavior in university students. The instrument comprised four distinct scales: the Perceived Effectiveness Scale for PECICE, the Cultural Confidence Scale, the Self-Esteem Scale, and the Prosocial Behavior Scale. Our sample encompassed 293 Chinese college students, consisting of 137 men and 156 women, with an average age of 21.39 years (SD = 2.1). Results: PECICE demonstrated significant positive associations with cultural confidence (r = 0.29, p < 0.001), self-esteem (r = 0.35, p < 0.001), and prosocial behavior (r = 0.40, p < 0.001). The influence of PECICE on prosocial behavior among university students was mediated through three channels: solely via cultural confidence (mediating effect value: 0.14), solely via self-esteem (mediating effect value: 0.22), and through the combined influence of both cultural confidence and self-esteem (mediating effect value: 0.2). Conclusion: The intertwined mediating roles of cultural confidence and self-esteem highlight their pivotal significance in enhancing the efficacy of PECICE. These insights offer a valuable reference for both educators and policymakers striving to augment prosocial behavior in university students.

Symmetry plays an essential role in the fundamental properties of a physical system. In this work, we report on the realization of tunable single-mode polariton lasing from highly excited Rydberg states via symmetry engineering. By breaking the symmetry of the polaritonic wave function through potential wells and controlling the spatial overlap between the gain region and the eigen mode, we are able to generate single-mode polariton lasing, reversibly and dynamically, from quantized polariton states. Increasing the asymmetry of the potential well, single-mode lasing can be achieved even for the highly excited Rydberg state with a principle quantum number of N = 14. Moreover, as a result of the excellent reservoir-eigen mode overlap and efficient spatial confinement, the threshold of lasing can be reduced up to 6 orders of magnitude, compared with those conventional pumping schemes. Our results present a new strategy toward the realization of thresholdless polariton lasing with dynamical tunability.

Cervical cancer (CC) is the third most common carcinoma and the fourth leading cause of cancer-associated mortality in women. The deregulation of fatty acid metabolism plays a crucial role in the progression of various tumors. This study is aimed at exploring the prognostic values of fatty acid metabolism- (FAM-) related long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in CC. FAM-related differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and lncRNAs were screened in CC specimens based on TCGA datasets. Univariate analysis was carried out on differentially expressed lncRNAs to screen the survival-related lncRNAs. Multivariate assays were performed on the resulting lncRNAs to create a novel risk model. Survival assays were applied to examine the prognostic abilities of our model. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was used to evaluate the accuracy of the new model. The association between risk model and immune responses was analyzed. In this study, we screened 9 differently expressed lncRNAs associated with the clinical outcome of CC patients. A nine-lncRNA signature comprising SCAT1, AC119427.1, AC009097.2, MIR100HG, AC010996.1, AL583856.2, MIAT, AP003774.2, and AC004540.2 was established to predict overall survival of CC. Survival assays revealed that patients' high risk score showed a shorter overall survival than those with low risk score. Multivariate assays demonstrated that the nine-gene signature was an independent prognostic factor in CC. In addition, we observed that APC_co_stimulation, CCR, and parainflammation were distinctly different between low-risk and high-risk groups. Our group observed a distinct difference in the expressions of CD44, TNFRSF8, CD276, LAG3, TNFRSF14, TMIGD2, VTCN1, TNFRSF25, CD80, NRP1, TNFRSF18, CD70, TNFSF9, and LGALS9 between the two groups of patients. Overall, our findings indicated that the 9 FAM-related lncRNA signature might be a promising prognostic factor for CC and can promote the management of FAM-related therapy in clinical practice.

Ovarian cancer (OC) is the main cause of deaths worldwide in female reproductive system malignancies. Growing studies have indicated that eRNAs could regulate cellular activities in various tumors. Yet the potential roles of eRNAs in OC progression have not been elucidated. Thus, comprehensive assays were needed to screen the critical eRNAs and to explore their possible function in OC. We used Kaplan-Meier methods to identify survival-associated eRNAs in OC based on TCGA datasets. The levels of ZFHX4-AS1 were examined using TCGA datasets. Further exploration was carried out based on the following assays: clinical and survival assays, GO terms, and KEGG assays. TIMER was applied to delve into the relationships between ZFHX4-AS1 and tumor immune infiltration. In this research, we observed 71 survival-related eRNAs in OC patients. ZFHX4-AS1 was highly expressed in OC specimens and predicted a poor prognosis of OC patients. In addition, high ZFHX4-AS1 expression was positively related to the advanced stages of OC specimens. Multivariate assays revealed that ZFHX4-AS1 was an independent prognostic factor for overall survival of OC patients. KEGG analysis indicated that ZFHX4-AS1 may play a regulatory effect on TGF-beta signaling, PI3K-Akt signaling, and proteoglycans in cancer. The pan-cancer validation indicated that ZFHX4-AS1 was related to survival in eight tumors, namely, UCEC, STAD, SARC, OV, ACC, KICH, KIRC, and BLCA. The expression of ZFHX4-AS1 was correlated with the levels of B cells, T cell CD8+, neutrophil, macrophage, and myeloid dendritic cells. Simultaneously, ZFHX4-AS1 may be a prognostic biomarker and a distinctly immunotherapy-related eRNA in OC.

OBJECTIVE: The study aims to address whether serum anti-müllerian hormone (AMH) levels fluctuate in the short term after medication application, including oral contraceptives (OCs), metformin (MET), Gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a), dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), vitamin D (VD), clomiphene citrate (CC), and letrozole (LET). METHODS: Published literature from PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane central was retrieved up until 19 September 2021. A total of 51 self-control studies with an average Newcastle-Ottawa quality assessment scale (NOS) score of 6.90 were analyzed. The extracted data were entered into Stata software, and the weighted mean difference/standardized mean difference (WMD/SMD) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were used for data analysis. RESULTS: After OCs treatment the AMH level showed a significant decline in women with normal ovarian function, which was significant within 3 months (WMD = -1.43, 95% CI: -2.05 to -0.80, P < 0.00001). After MET treatment, the serum AMH decreased in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients (WMD = -1.79, 95% CI: -2.32 to -1.26, P < 0.00001), in both obese and non-obese patients. GnRH-a treatment in endometriosis patients led to dynamic changes in the serum AMH levels, that is, ascent at 1 month (P = 0.05), and descent at 3 months (P = 0.02). After DHEA treatment the serum AMH increased in diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) / poor ovarian response (POR) patients (WMD = 0.18, 95% CI: 0.09 to 0.27, P < 0.0001). After VD treatment the serum AMH increased, and it was obvious in non-PCOS patients (WMD = 0.78, 95% CI: 0.34 to 1.21, P = 0.0004). After CC treatment the serum AMH decreased significantly in PCOS patients, specifically in non-obese patients (WMD = -1.24, 95% CI: -1.87 to -0.61, P = 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS: Serum AMH levels may be affected in the short term after drug application. Specifically, OC, MET and CC lead to decreased AMH level, DHEA and VD lead to increased AMH level, and GnRH-a leads to dynamic variation, which is correlated with PCOS, obesity, age, and duration of medication. The impacts of these medications should be taken into consideration when AMH is used as a marker of ovarian reserve.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: It has been reported that Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection was more prevalent in infertile populations. HP infection could lead to decreased sperm parameters, and treating the HP infection could improve the quality of sperm. However, studies investigating the relationship between infertility and HP infection are still limited, and more evidence is required. Therefore, we performed the present study to investigate the impact of HP infection on sperm quality in males and on ovarian reserve in females. METHODS: A total of 16,522 patients who visited the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University from January 2016 to June 2019 due to abdominal discomfort and underwent a 13/14C-urea breath HP test were included in this retrospective cross-sectional study. Among them, 565 had performed sperm analysis or ovarian reserve tests in the past three months and were involved for further analyses. Sperm parameters were examined with a computer-assisted sperm analysis system, and serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) and sex hormones were tested with an electrochemiluminescence method. RESULTS: Among 363 patients who underwent the sperm test, 136 (37.47%) had HP infection. Among 202 patients who underwent the AMH test, 55 (27.23%) had HP infection. There was no difference in sperm concentration and motility between the HP+ and HP- groups (P > 0.05). Further subgroup analyses stratified into 5-year age groups confirmed that there was no significant difference in sperm parameters (P > 0.05). When pooled with previously published data, no significant difference in sperm concentration or motility was found (P > 0.05). Meanwhile, this study found that the serum AMH level was similar between the HP+ and HP- groups (P > 0.05). Further subgroup analyses confirmed that there was no significant difference in serum AMH level (P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: There were no differences in sperm parameters and AMH levels based on history of HP infection among Chinese patients.

BACKGROUND: Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is now considered the best serum biomarker of ovarian reserve, while basal sex hormones are classic markers used for assessing ovarian reserve. The interaction between AMH and sex hormones are complicated and not sufficiently addressed. In this study, we took diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) as two extremes of ovarian reserve (deficient and excessive respectively) to investigate the role of AMH and sex hormones in follicular growth. METHODS: A retrospective cross-sectional survey was performed. The patients assessed AMH and basal sex hormones in the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University from April 2016 to March 2019 were involved in this study. Serum AMH and sex hormone concentrations were tested with electrochemiluminescence method. Stepwise linear regression and binary logistic regression was used to determine the predictors of AMH level and to explore the involved factors determining DOR and PCOS. RESULTS: In the present study, we found that age and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) were main negative correlation factors, and luteinizing hormone (LH) and testosterone (T) were main positive factors of AMH. In DOR group, age, FSH and estradiol (E2) increased and T decreased, while in PCOS group, LH and T increased. Binary logistic regression found that age, weight, FSH, E2, and T were the significant factors which independently predicted the likelihood of DOR, and that age, body mass index (BMI), AMH, LH, and T predicted the likelihood of PCOS. CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated that age, FSH, and T were factors that most closely correlated with AMH level, and T was involved in both DOR and PCOS. Since DOR and PCOS are manifested with insufficient AMH and excessive AMH respectively, it is suggested that total testosterone correlated with AMH closely and plays an important role in follicular growth. More attention should be given to testosterone level during controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) process.
