RESUMEN

The paper presents a simple, fast, and cost-effective method for creating metal/SU-8 nanocomposites by applying a metal precursor drop onto the surface or nanostructure of SU-8 and exposing it to UV light. No pre-mixing of the metal precursor with the SU-8 polymer or pre-synthesis of metal nanoparticles is required. A TEM analysis was conducted to confirm the composition and depth distribution of the silver nanoparticles, which penetrate the SU-8 film and uniformly form the Ag/SU-8 nanocomposites. The antibacterial properties of the nanocomposites were evaluated. Moreover, a composite surface with a top layer of gold nanodisks and a bottom layer of Ag/SU-8 nanocomposites was produced using the same photoreduction process with gold and silver precursors, respectively. The reduction parameters can be manipulated to customize the color and spectrum of various composite surfaces.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the expression of CSF3R mutation in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and analyze its clinical characteristics and prognosis. METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted in 212 patients with AML who were newly diagnosed in the Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University from January 1th 2018 to June 30th 2021, including 22 patients with CSF3R mutations as mutation group and 190 patients with CSF3R wild type ï¼»66 cases of them were screened by propensity score matching (PSM), as control groupï¼½. The early efficacy and survival between the two groups were compared. RESULTS: The median age of patients in the mutation group was 50(17-73) years old, and the ratio of male to female was 1.2:1 The main types were AML with maturation (11 cases) and acute myelomonocytic leukemia (9 cases). Prognostic stratification was carried out according to the risk stratification system of the European leukemia network in 2017, with 16 cases (72.73%) in the middle and high-risk group. At the initial diagnosis, the median count of white blood cell (WBC) was 44.75(1.30-368.71)×109/L, among which 15 cases (68.18%) were >10×109/L, and the median count of platelet (PLT) was 24(4-55)×109/L. CSF3R T618I (68.18%) was a common mutation site, which had concomitant gene mutations, in which CEBPA mutation was the most common (10 cases, 45.45%), but only existed in CSF3R T618I mutation. The CR/CRi rate was 68.18% and 71.21% in the mutant group and the control group (P >0.05), the median over all survival time was 15 months and 9 months (P >0.05), and the median disease-free survival time was 8 months and 4 months (P >0.05), respectively. CONCLUSION: Most AML patients with CSF3R mutation are middle-aged patients, the main types are AML with maturation and acute myelomonocytic leukemia, and most of them have middle and high-risk prognosis. CSF3R mutation may not be an independent prognostic marker for newly diagnosed AML patients.

METHODS: For a retrospective analysis of 27 adult patients with AML receiving MST from July 2014 to October 2021, the median age was 59(29-77) years old, 13 cases were ≥60 years old, 14 case were <60 years old, 13 cases were male and 14 cases were female. Classification by FAB: AML-M2 6 cases, AML-M4 6 cases, AML-M5 2 cases, AML-M6 2 cases, AML(Undivided type) 9 cases, AML myeloid sarcoma 2 cases (primary AML 21 cases, AML secondary to MDS 6 cases). Cytogenetic analysis showed 25 patients with a normal karyotype, 2 patients with an abnormal karyotype, and 20 patients with an abnormal molecular biology. Induction chemotherapy regimens mainly include: IA, DA, MA or HA regimen, including CAG or CIG in combination with decitabine, and single-agent decitabine. 17 patients achieved complete remission (CR) after 1 course of induction chemotherapy and 4 patients achieved CR after 2 courses of induction chemotherapy. 3 patients received CR by four courses of decitabine, 2 patients received no remission, and 1 patient underwent no induction chemotherapy and were treated direct MST. There were 16 patients with pretransplant CR and 11 patients were not in remission before transplantation. Follow-up mainly used consult patient's medical records and telephone inquiry to observe the adverse effects and efficacy of MST treatment. Survival analysis was performed by Kaplan-Meier method, with the main observation indicators overall survival(OS) and leukemia-free survival(LFS), and performed with the Log-rank test. Multivariate analysis was performed by the Cox regression model. RESULTS: A total of 79 MST were performed in 27 AML patients with good overall safety and no special serious adverse effects. The median time of leukocyte recovery was 13(4-28) days, and the median time of platelet recovery was 13(4-30) days. There were 50 cases of infection, 5 cases of abnormal liver function and 3 cases of abnormal cardiac function. Except for abnormal cardiac function, all other complications did not affect the treatment and were cure. Acute or chronic GVHD, renal insufficiency, abnormal coagulation function, and severe bleeding were not observed during treatment or during follow-up. As of the follow-up date, the median follow-up time of the 27 patients was 79(14-171) months, the median OS time was 62(1-171) months, and the median LFS time was 15(0-171) months. The 2-year OS rate was 65.7%(17/27), and the 2-year LFS rate was 47.4%(12/27) . The complete response rate of 27 patients treated with MST was 48.1% (13/27). 8 patients relapsed during MST treatment, including 7 patients after the completion of the first MST course and 1 patient after the completion of the second MST course. 2 patients relapsed after the end of the course of MST. 13 patients died, including 10 patients because of disease progression, two patients from severe infection, and one patient from cardiac damage. CONCLUSION: MST has the advantages of small toxic side effects, complete compatibility of HLA matching is not required, effective avoidance of GVHD and rapid hematopoietic recovery, which can improve OS and LFS in elderly AML and young AML patients, and is one of the treatment options for patients without HLA matching.

RESUMEN

In this paper, the sampling and monitoring methods of atmospheric 14C around Ningde NPP were presented, and the variations and trends during 2013-2021 were statistically analyzed and comparatively studied with worldwide reported values around NPPs. Meanwhile, the correlation study with the gaseous effluent emission amount from Ningde NPP was analyzed, and the spatial distribution of the atmospheric 14C around Ningde NPP was simulated with the atmospheric release based on the long-term meteorological parameters with the plume diffusion model. It was shown that the average specific activity of atmospheric 14C at each sampling site ranged from 229 to 230 mBq/gC, and the weak evidence of influence on the nearest sampling site from the release of the NPP could be observed. Seasonal variations of 14C specific activity were analyzed, and it was shown that, except for the site 1.7 km from the NPP, the specific activity of the atmospheric 14C was higher in summer and autumn and lower in winter and spring. Besides, it was shown that the excess 14C for long-term monitoring results around the NPP was consistent with the simulated values on the order of magnitude.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Lissencephaly (LIS) is a malformation of cortical development with broad gyri, shallow sulci and thickened cortex characterized by developmental delays and seizures. Currently, 20 genes have been implicated in LIS. However, GRP56-related LIS has never been reported. GRP56 is considered one of the causative genes for bilateral frontoparietal polymicrogyria. Here, we report a twin infant with LIS and review the relevant literature. The twins both carried the novel compound heterozygous GPR56 mutations. CASE SUMMARY: A 5-mo-old female infant was hospitalized due to repeated convulsions for 1 d. The patient had a flat head deformity that manifested as developmental delays and a sudden onset of generalized tonic-clonic seizures at 5 mo without any causes. The electroencephalography was normal. Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed a simple brain structure with widened and thickened gyri and shallow sulci. The white matter of the brain was significantly reduced. Patchy long T1 and T2 signals could be seen around the ventricles, which were expanded, and the extracerebral space was widened. Genetic testing confirmed that the patient carried the GPR56 gene compound heterozygous mutations c.228delC (p.F76fs) and c.1820_1821delAT (p.H607fs). The unaffected father carried a heterozygous c.1820_1821delAT mutation, and the unaffected mother carried a heterozygous c.228delC mutation. The twin sister carried the same mutations as the proband. The patient was diagnosed with LIS. CONCLUSION: This is the first case report of LIS that is likely caused by mutations of the GPR56 gene.

RESUMEN

A measurement method of 85Kr using an internal gas proportional counter (IGPC) is presented in this study. The operation conditions of the IGPC were determined and optimized, including the operating voltage, pressure, sample volume, interference from other gas components such as nitrogen or air, and mitigation of the memory effect. The IGPC was calibrated using certified standards, and the detection efficiency was approximately 58% for typical samples. A lower limit of detection of approximately 0.11 MBq/m3(Kr) was achieved after counting for 5 h with 1 mL pure Kr, corresponding to the atmospheric activity concentration of 0.18 Bq/m3 (air). It was shown that the IGPC could be used effectively for measuring 85Kr.

RESUMEN

In this paper, the correlations between the continuously monitored gamma dose rate (GDR) and meteorological parameters, including precipitation, air temperature, relative humidity, air pressure, wind direction, and wind speed, were analyzed by using one year of the hourly dataset from a monitoring system with ten stations. The correlation coefficients are varied by the range of each meteorological parameter. Precipitation would enhance the GDR up to 84%, which is highly related to precipitation intensity and ground type. Strong and positive correlation between the GDR and light precipitation was identified, while the correlation was reduced with increasing of precipitation. Air temperature could cause a fluctuation of the average GDR within the range 1.8-5.3 nGy h-1, and different correlation characteristics were indicated for low and high air temperature. The GDR was positively correlated with relative humidity, though relative humidity is inversely correlated with air temperature. Correlations between the GDR and air pressure were mainly negative. Diurnal variations between the GDR and the air temperature, relative humidity, and air pressure were also analyzed. The wind played an important role also in the fluctuation of the GDR with the GDR difference up to 2.00 nGy h-1 averaged from the sixteen wind-directions. Lower GDR can be found in the direction of prevailing wind because of the dilution effect of the radon progenies in the surface air. In this paper, some exploratory interpretation of physical influence mechanisms of meteorological parameters on the GDR was also presented, which suggests further work should be carried out to explore the variation and correlation principle.

RESUMEN

In this paper, three different widely-used measurement techniques for environmental gamma dose rate were studied and compared, i.e., the thermoluminescent dosimeter, the portable survey meter and the spectrometric analysis. Thirteen investigation sites were selected, and the TLDs were arranged to accumulate the radiation signals during an interval of about one quarter, the instant dose rates by using a portable survey meter were collected around the site, and top surface soils were sampled in the surroundings for radionuclides analyzing in laboratory. The results from these methods were compared, which revealed high correlations. The differences and possible uncertainties for the three methods were analyzed, inspired a further study should be conducted to have more successful estimation of dose rate in surface air.

RESUMEN

Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) can attach to food, host tissues and the surfaces of medical implants and form a biofilm, which makes it difficult to eliminate. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of honokiol on biofilm-grown S. aureus. In this report, honokiol showed effective antibacterial activity against S. aureus in biofilms. S. aureus isolates are capable of producing distinct types of biofilms mediated by polysaccharide intercellular adhesion (PIA) or extracellular DNA (eDNA). The biofilms' susceptibility to honokiol was evaluated using confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) analysis. The transcript levels of the biofilm-related genes, the expression of PIA, and the amount of eDNA of biofilm-grown S. aureus exposed to honokiol were also investigated. The results of this study show that honokiol can detach existing biofilms, kill bacteria in biofilms, and simultaneously inhibit the transcript levels of sarA, cidA and icaA, eDNA release, and the expression of PIA.

RESUMEN

An analytical method for (14)C in environmental water based on a wet-oxidation process was developed. The method can be used to determine the activity concentrations of organic and inorganic (14)C in environmental water, or total (14)C, including in drinking water, surface water, rainwater and seawater. The wet-oxidation of the organic component allows the conversion of organic carbon to an inorganic form, and the extraction of the inorganic (14)C can be achieved by acidification and nitrogen purging. Environmental water with a volume of 20 L can be used for the wet-oxidation and extraction, and a detection limit of about 0.02 Bq/g(C) can be achieved for water with carbon content above 15 mg(C)/L, obviously lower than the natural level of (14)C in the environment. The collected carbon is sufficient for measurement with a low level liquid scintillation counter (LSC) for typical samples. Extraction or recovery experiments for inorganic carbon and organic carbon from typical materials, including analytical reagents of organic benzoquinone, sucrose, glutamic acid, nicotinic acid, humic acid, ethane diol, et cetera., were conducted with excellent results based on measurement on a total organic carbon analyzer and LSC. The recovery rate for inorganic carbon ranged tween 98.7%-99.0% with a mean of 98.9(± 0.1)%, for organic carbon recovery ranged between 93.8% and 100.0% with a mean of 97.1(± 2.6)%. Verification and an uncertainty budget of the method are also presented for a representative environmental water. The method is appropriate for (14)C analysis in environmental water, and can be applied also to the analysis of liquid effluent from nuclear facilities.

RESUMEN

Electroencephalography (EEG) is an important biopotential, and has been widely applied in clinical applications. The conventional EEG electrode with conductive gels is usually used for measuring EEG. However, the use of conductive gel also encounters with the issue of drying and hardening. Recently, many dry EEG electrodes based on different conductive materials and techniques were proposed to solve the previous issue. However, measuring EEG in the hairy site is still a difficult challenge. In this study, a novel active comb-shaped dry electrode was proposed to measure EEG in hairy site. Different form other comb-shaped or spike-shaped dry electrodes, it can provide more excellent performance of avoiding the signal attenuation, phase distortion, and the reduction of common mode rejection ratio. Even under walking motion, it can effectively acquire EEG in hairy site. Finally, the experiments for alpha rhythm and steady-state visually evoked potential were also tested to validate the proposed electrode.

RESUMEN

Binding of the fluoride ion triggers aggregation of a pyreneboronic acid-catechol ensemble in acidic aqueous solutions, giving rise to intense excimer emission, allowing for sensitive fluoride ion sensing at ppm levels, with an apparent fluoride binding constant higher than 10(3) M(-1) which is unprecedented for boronic acid sensors in water.

RESUMEN

We have developed a working strategy for accurate enantiomeric excess (ee) determination based on induced helical aggregation of achiral perylenebisimide (PBI) dyes. PBI dyes functionalized with boronic acid moieties were shown to be effective chirality sensors for α-hydroxy carboxylates. Seven α-hydroxy carboxylates tested showed strong induced Cotton effects in the perylene absorption region around λ=500 nm, which were utilized for enantiomeric excess determination and chemo-discrimination of the analytes, with an average absolute error of 2 % in ee determination and 100 % correctness in analyte classification. Responses in the absorption spectra, which arise from the guest-enhanced aggregation, allow the determination of the sample concentration, thus enabling analysis of samples of unknown concentration and ee. The simplicity of the strategy, the ease of sample preparation, and the accuracy demonstrated, can potentially facilitate screening procedures in asymmetric synthesis.

RESUMEN

The analytical method for organically bound tritium (OBT) was developed in our laboratory. The optimized operating conditions and parameters were established for sample drying, special combustion, distillation, and measurement on a liquid scintillation spectrometer (LSC). Selected types of OBT samples such as rice, corn, rapeseed, fresh lettuce and pork were analyzed for method validation of recovery rate reproducibility, the minimum detection concentration, and the uncertainty for typical low level environmental sample was evaluated. The combustion water recovery rate of different dried environmental sample was kept at about 80%, the minimum detection concentration of OBT ranged from 0.61 to 0.89 Bq/kg (dry weight), depending on the hydrogen content. It showed that this method is suitable for OBT analysis of environmental sample with stable recovery rate, and the combustion water yield of a sample with weight about 40 g would provide sufficient quantity for measurement on LSC.

RESUMEN

A new water-soluble polysaccharide (longan polysaccharide 1 (LP1)) was extracted and successfully purified from Dimocarpus longan pulp via diethylaminoethyl (DEAE)-cellulose anion-exchange and Sephacryl S-300 HR gel chromatography. The chemical structure was determined using Infrared (IR), gas chromatography (GC) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) analysis. The results indicated that the molecular weight of the sample was 1.1 × 10(5) Da. Monosaccharide composition analysis revealed that LP1 was composed of Glc, GalA, Ara and Gal in a molar ratio of 5.39:1.04:0.74:0.21. Structural analysis indicated that LP1 consisted of a backbone of → 4)-α-D-Glcp-(1 → 4)-α-D-GALPA-(1 → 4)-α-D-Glcp-(1 → 4)-ß-D-Glcp-(1 → units with poly saccharide side chains composed of → 2)-ß-D-Fruf-(1 → 2)-L-sorbose-(1 → attached to the O-6 position of the α-D-Glcp residues. In vitro experiments indicated that LP1 had significantly high antitumor activity against SKOV3 and HO8910 tumor cells, with inhibition percentages of 40% and 50%, respectively. In addition, LP1 significantly stimulated the production of the cytokine interferon-γ (IFN-γ), increased the activity of murine macrophages and enhanced B- and T-lymphocyte proliferation. The results of this study demonstrate that LP1 has potential applications as a natural antitumor agent with immunomodulatory activity.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy of sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) with standardized Dermatophagoides farinae drops in monosensitized and polysensitized patients with allergic rhinitis. METHODS: The efficacy of SLIT in 69 patients who were sensitized to house dust mites and treated with Dermatophagoides farinae drops for 1.5-2.0 year with complete clinical data were analyzed retrospectively. These patients had been divided into the monoallergen sensitized group and polyallergen sensitized group according to the results of skin prick tests. The total medication score (TMS) and the total nasal symptoms score (TNSS) were evaluated before and half an year, 1.0 year and 1.5-2.0 years after SLIT treatment. RESULTS: After SLIT treatment for half an year, the TNSS in the monoallergen sensitized group (2.00 [1.00; 3.00]) was significantly lower than that in the polyallergen sensitized group (3.00 [2.00; 4.00], Z = -2.851, P < 0.05), this significant difference of TNSS between the two groups was also found after SLIT treatment for 1.0 year (0.00 [0.00; 1.00], 2.00 [0.00; 3.00], Z = -2.590, P < 0.05). Whereas, there was no significant difference between the two groups after 1.5-2.0 years treatment refer to the TNSS (0.00 [0.00; 1.00], 0.00 [0. 00; 2.00], Z = -1.461, P > 0.05). Half an year, 1.0 year and 1.5-2.0 years after SLIT treatment, the TMS in both groups reduced significantly, with no significant difference between two groups (Z value was - 0.777, -0.944, -0.907, all P > 0. 05). CONCLUSIONS: SLIT with Dermatophagoides farinae drops is effective in monosensitized and polysensitized patients with allergic rhinitis. And equivalent efficacy could be achieved after 1.5-2.years.

RESUMEN

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) usually results from brain shaking or impact. It can affect the normal function of the brain and even cause people become disabled and death. However, there is lack of studies for the physiological changes of humans or animals under brain injury. In order to obtain the information of physiological state change, we designed and enforced a non-invasive, wireless multi-channel near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) for monitoring the concentration change of oxy-hemoglobin (HbO2), deoxy-hemoglobin (HbR) and total-hemoglobin (HbT) continuously during and after TBI. The experimental results indicated that the concentration change of HbO2 and HbT is significantly related to the impact strength and infarction volume. Thus, this system is easily used and stable for TBI study.

RESUMEN

Real-time monitoring of cardiac health is helpful for patients with cardiovascular disease. Many telemedicine systems based on ubiquitous computing and communication techniques have been proposed for monitoring the user's electrocardiogram (ECG) anywhere and anytime. Usually, wet electrodes are used in these telemedicine systems. However, wet electrodes require conduction gels and skin preparation that can be inconvenient and uncomfortable for users. In order to overcome this issue, a new non-contact electrode circuit was proposed and applied in developing a mobile electrocardiogram monitoring system. The proposed non-contact electrode can measure bio-potentials across thin clothing, allowing it to be embedded in a user's normal clothing to monitor ECG in daily life. We attempted to simplify the design of these non-contact electrodes to reduce power consumption while continuing to provide good signal quality. The electrical specifications and the performance of monitoring arrhythmia in clinical settings were also validated to investigate the reliability of the proposed design. Experimental results show that the proposed non-contact electrode provides good signal quality for measuring ECG across thin clothes.
