Objective: Tibial plateau fractures are common intra-articular fractures that pose classification and treatment challenges for orthopedic surgeons. Objective: This study examines the value of 3D printing for classifying and planning surgery for complex tibial plateau fractures. Methods: We reviewed 54 complex tibial plateau fractures treated at our hospital from January 2017 to January 2019. Patients underwent preoperative spiral CT scans, with DICOM data processed using Mimics software. 3D printing technology created accurate 1:1 scale models of the fractures. These models helped subdivide the fractures into seven types based on the tibial plateau's geometric planes. Surgical approaches and simulated operations, including fracture reduction and plate placement, were planned using these models. Results: The 3D models accurately depicted the direction and extent of fracture displacement and plateau collapse. They facilitated the preoperative planning, allowing for precise reconstruction strategies and matching intraoperative details with the pre-printed models. Post-surgery, the anatomical structure of the tibial plateau was significantly improved in all 54 cases. Conclusion: 3D printing effectively aids in the classification and preoperative planning of complex tibial plateau fractures, enhancing surgical outcomes and anatomical restoration. Objetivo: As fraturas do planalto tibial são fraturas intra-articulares comuns de classificação e tratamento desafiadores aos cirurgiões ortopédicos. Objetivo: Este estudo investiga o uso de impressão 3D para classificar e planejar a cirurgia de fraturas complexas do planalto tibial. Métodos: 54 fraturas complexas do planalto tibial tratadas em nosso hospital de janeiro de 2017 a janeiro de 2019 foram revisadas. Os pacientes foram submetidos a tomografias computadorizadas em espiral pré-operatórias, com dados DICOM processados usando o software Mimics. A tecnologia de impressão 3D gerou modelos precisos em escala 1:1 das fraturas. Estes modelos ajudaram a subdividir as fraturas em sete tipos com base nos planos geométricos do planalto tibial. As abordagens cirúrgicas e as operações simuladas, incluindo a redução da fratura e a colocação de placa, foram planejadas utilizando estes modelos. Resultados: Os modelos 3D representaram com precisão a direção e a extensão da deslocação da fratura e do colapso do planalto. Os modelos facilitaram o planejamento pré-operatório, viabilizando estratégias de reconstrução precisas e a correspondência dos detalhes intraoperatórios com os modelos pré-impressos. Após a cirurgia, a estrutura anatômica do planalto tibial melhorou significativamente em todos os 54 casos. Conclusão: A impressão 3D ajuda na classificação e no planejamento pré-operatório de fraturas complexas do planalto tibial, melhorando os resultados cirúrgicos e a restauração anatômica. Defective carbon nitride (DCN-x) was synthesized through a dual-surface engineering process consisting of nitric acid treatment followed by high-temperature calcination. This process endowed DCN-x with a porous structure and a larger surface area than that of pure graphite carbon nitride (CN), enhancing its visible light absorption and reducing the electron-hole recombination rate. Consequently, DCN-x demonstrated a significantly more efficient photocatalytic hydrogen evolution, with the optimum sample, DCN-600, achieving an activity 55.9 times greater than that of pure CN, while maintaining excellent photocatalytic stability. Furthermore, the presence of tri-s-triazine (heptazine) structures within the CN's in-plane structure was identified as a critical factor for band gap optimization, suggesting new avenues for the synthesis of carbon nitride variants with enhanced photocatalytic performance.

The brain and gut are sensory organs responsible for sensing, transmitting, integrating, and responding to signals from the internal and external environment. In-depth analysis of brain-gut axis interactions is important for human health and disease prevention. Current research on the brain-gut axis primarily relies on animal models. However, animal models make it difficult to study disease mechanisms due to inherent species differences, and the reproducibility of experiments is poor because of individual animal variations, which leads to a significant limitation of real-time sensory responses. Organ-on-a-chip platforms provide an innovative approach for disease treatment and personalized research by replicating brain and gut ecosystems in vitro. This enables a precise understanding of their biological functions and physiological responses. In this article, we examine the history and most current developments in brain, gut, and gut-brain chips. The importance of these systems for understanding pathophysiology and developing new drugs is emphasized throughout the review. This article also addresses future directions and present issues with the advancement and application of gut-brain-on-a-chip technologies.

BACKGROUND: To compare the impact of tunneled cuffed catheters (TCCs) and arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) on outcomes in elderly hemodialysis (HD) patients. METHODS: A retrospective matched cohort study was performed. Propensity score matching (PSM) was applied to balance the baseline conditions, and we compared all-cause mortality, major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs), hospitalization, and infection rates between AVF and TCC patients ≥70 years old. Cox survival analysis was used to analyze the risk factors for death. RESULTS: There were 2119 patients from our center in the Chinese National Renal Data System (CNRDS) between 1 January 2010 and 10 October 2023. Among these patients, 77 TCC patients were matched with 77 AVF patients. There was no significant difference in all-cause mortality between the TCC and AVF groups (30.1/100 vs. 33.3/100 patient-years, p = 0.124). Among the propensity score-matched cohorts, no significant differences in Kaplan-Meier curves were observed between the two groups (log-rank p = 0.242). The TCC group had higher rates of MACCEs, hospitalization, and infection than the AVF group (33.7/100 vs. 29.5/100 patient-years, 101.2/100 vs. 79.5/100 patient-years, and 30.1/100 vs. 14.1/100 patient-years, respectively). Multivariate analysis showed that high Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) score was a risk factor for death. CONCLUSIONS: There was no significant difference in all-cause mortality between elderly HD patients receiving TCCs and AVFs. Compared with those with a TCC, elderly HD patients with an AVF have a lower risk of MACCEs, hospitalization, and infection.

We investigate an efficient spatial enantioseparation method of chiral molecules in cyclic three-level systems coupled with three optical fields using optically induced forces. When the overall phase differs by π between two enantiomers, significant variations in the magnitude and direction of the optically induced forces are observed. The manipulation of the center of mass of chiral molecules in optical fields can be achieved through the induced gauge force, primarily generated from the variations in the chirality-dependent scalar potentials created by the three inhomogeneous laser fields. By appropriately configuring the system, we can completely separate the slow spatial and fast inner dynamics, making instantaneous eigenstates of the inner Hamiltonian independent of the transverse profiles of the laser beams. Compared to previous methods, which required adiabatic conditions to be satisfied, the proposed method overcomes the limitations of the adiabatic approximation by utilizing a specific system configuration. This allows for increased flexibility in the transverse profiles of the laser beams and relaxes the constraints on the velocity of chiral molecules, leading to significantly greater spatial separations achievable across a broader range of parameters.

Immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) necessitates a thorough understanding of intricate cellular interactions within the tumor microenvironment (TME). Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) play a pivotal role in cancer generation, progression, and immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. Within the TME, MSCs encompass both resident and circulating counterparts that dynamically communicate and actively participate in TME immunosurveillance and response to ICB. This review aims to reevaluate various facets of MSCs, including their potential self-transformation to function as cancer-initiating cells and contributions to the creation of a conducive environment for tumor proliferation and metastasis. Additionally, we explore the immune regulatory functions of tumor-associated MSCs (TA-MSCs) and MSC-derived extracellular vesicles (MSC-EVs) with analysis of potential connections between circulating and tissue-resident MSCs. A comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of MSC-immune cell communication and the heterogeneous cargo of tumor-educated versus naïve MSCs may unveil a new MSC-mediated immunosuppressive pathway that can be targeted to enhance cancer control by ICB.

Polyurethane/silk protein-bismuth halide oxide composite films were fabricated using a blending-wet phase transformationin situsynthesis method. The crystal structure, micromorphology, and optical properties were conducted using XRD, SEM, and UV-Vis DRS characterize techniques. The results indicated that loaded silk protein enhanced the hydrophilicity and pore structure of the polyurethane composite films. The active species BiOX were observed to grow as nanosheets with high dispersion on the internal skeleton and silk protein surface of the polyurethane-silk protein film. The photocatalytic efficiency of BiOX/PU-SF composite films was assessed through the degradation of Rhodamine B under visible light irradiation. Among the tested films, the BiOBr/PU-SF composite exhibited the highest removal rate of RhB at 98.9%, surpassing the removal rates of 93.7% for the BiOCl/PU-SF composite and 85.6% for the BiOI/PU-SF composite. Furthermore, an active species capture test indicated that superoxide radical (•O2-) and hole (h+) species played a predominant role in the photodegradation process.

The baobab trees (genus Adansonia) have attracted tremendous attention because of their striking shape and distinctive relationships with fauna1. These spectacular trees have also influenced human culture, inspiring innumerable arts, folklore and traditions. Here we sequenced genomes of all eight extant baobab species and argue that Madagascar should be considered the centre of origin for the extant lineages, a key issue in their evolutionary history2,3. Integrated genomic and ecological analyses revealed the reticulate evolution of baobabs, which eventually led to the species diversity seen today. Past population dynamics of Malagasy baobabs may have been influenced by both interspecific competition and the geological history of the island, especially changes in local sea levels. We propose that further attention should be paid to the conservation status of Malagasy baobabs, especially of Adansonia suarezensis and Adansonia grandidieri, and that intensive monitoring of populations of Adansonia za is required, given its propensity for negatively impacting the critically endangered Adansonia perrieri.

Background: The role of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) in the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is unconfirmed. This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) plus anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) antibody/tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) with or without TACE as first-line treatment for advanced HCC. Methods: This nationwide, multicenter, retrospective cohort study included advanced HCC patients receiving either TACE with ICIs plus anti-VEGF antibody/TKIs (TACE-ICI-VEGF) or only ICIs plus anti-VEGF antibody/TKIs (ICI-VEGF) from January 2018 to December 2022. The study design followed the target trial emulation framework with stabilized inverse probability of treatment weighting (sIPTW) to minimize biases. The primary outcome was overall survival (OS). Secondary outcomes included progression-free survival (PFS), objective response rate (ORR), and safety. The study is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT05332821. Findings: Among 1244 patients included in the analysis, 802 (64.5%) patients received TACE-ICI-VEGF treatment, and 442 (35.5%) patients received ICI-VEGF treatment. The median follow-up time was 21.1 months and 20.6 months, respectively. Post-application of sIPTW, baseline characteristics were well-balanced between the two groups. TACE-ICI-VEGF group exhibited a significantly improved median OS (22.6 months [95% CI: 21.2-23.9] vs 15.9 months [14.9-17.8]; P < 0.0001; adjusted hazard ratio [aHR] 0.63 [95% CI: 0.53-0.75]). Median PFS was also longer in TACE-ICI-VEGF group (9.9 months [9.1-10.6] vs 7.4 months [6.7-8.5]; P < 0.0001; aHR 0.74 [0.65-0.85]) per Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumours (RECIST) version 1.1. A higher ORR was observed in TACE-ICI-VEGF group, by either RECIST v1.1 or modified RECIST (41.2% vs 22.9%, P < 0.0001; 47.3% vs 29.7%, P < 0.0001). Grade ≥3 adverse events occurred in 178 patients (22.2%) in TACE-ICI-VEGF group and 80 patients (18.1%) in ICI-VEGF group. Interpretation: This multicenter study supports the use of TACE combined with ICIs and anti-VEGF antibody/TKIs as first-line treatment for advanced HCC, demonstrating an acceptable safety profile. We propose a simple dynamical method to realize fast enantio-specific state transfer (ESST) of chiral molecules. Driven by three external electromagenetic fields, the chiral molecules are modeled as cyclic three-level systems, where the overall phase differs by π for the left- and right-handed chiral molecules. We unveil that the ESST is allowed when the amplitudes of three Rabi frequencies in the cyclic three-level systems are equal. Our method is robust and highly efficient in the sense that the external fields can have arbitrary waveforms. This thus provides the opportunity of simplifying the experimental implementations of ESST through pulse design.

Potential systemic factors contributing to aging-associated breast cancer (BC) remain elusive. Here, we reveal that the polyploid giant cells (PGCs) that contain more than two sets of genomes prevailing in aging and cancerous tissues constitute 5-10% of healthy female bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells (fBMSCs). The PGCs can repair DNA damage and stimulate neighboring cells for clonal expansion. However, dying PGCs in advanced-senescent fBMSCs can form "spikings" which are then separated into membraned mtDNA-containing vesicles (Senescent PGC-Spiking Bodies; SPSBs). SPSB-phagocytosed macrophages accelerate aging with diminished clearance on BC cells and protumor M2 polarization. SPSB-carried mitochondrial OXPHOS components are enriched in BC of elder patients and associated with poor prognosis. SPSB-incorporated breast epithelial cells develop aggressive characteristics and PGCs resembling the polyploid giant cancer cells (PGCCs) in clonogenic BC cells and cancer tissues. These findings highlight an aging BMSC-induced BC risk mediated by SPSB-induced macrophage dysfunction and epithelial cell precancerous transition. SIGNIFICANCE: Mechanisms underlying aging-associated cancer risk remain unelucidated. This work demonstrates that polyploid giant cells (PGCs) in bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells (BMSCs) from healthy female bone marrow donors can boost neighboring cell proliferation for clonal expansion. However, the dying-senescent PGCs in the advanced-senescent fBMSCs can form "spikings" which are separated into mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA)-containing spiking bodies (senescent PGC-spiking bodies; SPSBs). The SPSBs promote macrophage aging and breast epithelial cell protumorigenic transition and form polyploid giant cancer cells. These results demonstrate a new form of ghost message from dying-senescent BMSCs, that may serve as a systemic factor contributing to aging-associated immunosuppression and breast cancer risk.

Introduction: Post-transcriptional RNA modifications are crucial regulators of tumor development and progression. In many biological processes, N1-methyladenosine (m1A) plays a key role. However, little is known about the links between chemical modifications of messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and their function in bladder cancer (BLCA). Methods: Methylated RNA immunoprecipitation sequencing and RNA sequencing were performed to profile mRNA and lncRNA m1A methylation and expression in BLCA cells, with or without stable knockdown of the m1A methyltransferase tRNA methyltransferase 61A (TRMT61A). Results: The analysis of differentially methylated gene sites identified 16,941 peaks, 6,698 mRNAs, and 10,243 lncRNAs in the two groups. Gene ontology enrichment and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analyses of the differentially methylated and expressed transcripts showed that m1A-regulated transcripts were mainly related to protein binding and signaling pathways in cancer. In addition, the differentially genes were identified that were also differentially m1A-modified and identified 14 mRNAs and 19 lncRNAs. Next, these mRNAs and lncRNAs were used to construct a lncRNA-microRNA-mRNA competing endogenous RNA network, which included 118 miRNAs, 15 lncRNAs, and 8 mRNAs. Finally, the m1A-modified transcripts, SCN2B and ENST00000536140, which are highly expressed in BLCA tissues, were associated with decreased overall patient survival. Discussion: This study revealed substantially different amounts and distributions of m1A in BLCA after TRMT61A knockdown and predicted cellular functions in which m1A may be involved, providing evidence that implicates m1A mRNA and lncRNA epitranscriptomic regulation in BLCA tumorigenesis and progression.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common cancers and a leading cause of cancer-related mortality. Locoregional therapies (LRTs) play a crucial role in HCC management and are selectively adopted in real-world practice across various stages. Choosing the best form of LRTs depends on technical aspects, patient clinical status and tumour characteristics. Previous studies have consistently highlighted the efficacy of combining LRTs with molecular targeted agents in HCC treatment. Recent studies propose that integrating LRTs with immune checkpoint inhibitors and molecular targeted agents could provide substantial therapeutic benefits, a notion underpinned by both basic and clinical evidence. This review summarised the current landscape of LRTs in HCC and discussed the anticipated outcomes of combinations with immunotherapy regimens.

Different aromatic components do indeed give different tea flavors. There is still little research on whether there is a certain regularity in the combination and content of aromatic components in different aroma types of Phoenix Dancong (PDC) tea. This potential regularity may be a key factor in unraveling the relationship between reproduction and evolution in PDC tea. Here, the 5 kinds of these 4 aroma types PDC tea (Zhuye, Tuofu, Jianghuaxiang, Juduo, Yashixiang) were used as research materials in this study, the headspace solid-phase microextraction combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to analyze the aromatic components of these PDC teas. The results showed a total of 36 aromatic components identified in this study. When conducting cluster analysis, it was found that similarity degree arrangement sequence of 5 PDC teas was Juduo, Tuofu, Yashixiang, Zhuye and Jianghuaxiang. Among these aromatic components, the 7,9-Di-tert-butyl-1-oxaspiro(4,5)deca-6,9-diene-2,8-dione, the 2-Cyclopenten-1-one, 3-methyl-2-(2-pentenyl)-,(Z)-, the 2,4-Di-tert-butylphenol, the 3,7-dimethyl-1,5,7-Octatrien-3-ol, and the 2-Furanmethanol,5-ethenyltetrahydro-.alpha.,.alpha.,5-trimethyl-,cis- are common to 5 PDC teas. This study aims to elucidate the similarities in the aromatic components of 5 PDC teas, revealing the major aroma-endowed substances of various aroma, and providing theoretical reference for further exploring the relationship between aroma type discrimination, variety selection, and evolution of PDC teas.

Background and Aims: Several first-line immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-based combination therapies have been identified for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (uHCC). This network meta-analysis (NMA) aimed to provide the most updated evidence about the preferred first-line ICI-based regimens for uHCC. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was performed in various databases from database inception to May 2022. The phase 3 trials evaluating first-line single-agent ICIs, molecular-target agents (MTAs), or their combinations in uHCC were included. The main endpoints were overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). Pooled effect estimates were calculated using a random effects model within the frequentist framework. Subgroup analyses based on etiology were also conducted. Results: Twelve trials at low risk of bias with 8,275 patients comparing 13 treatments were included. OS with atezolizumab plus bevacizumab was comparable to sintilimab plus IBI305 [hazard ratio (HR): 1.16; 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.80-1.68] and camrelizumab plus apatinib (HR: 1.06; 95% CI: 0.75-1.51). The combination therapies, apart from atezolizumab plus cabozantinib in OS and durvalumab plus tremelimumab in PFS, had higher P-score than single-agent MTAs or ICIs. The survival benefits were associated with a high risk of adverse events leading to treatment discontinuation. The proportion of patients with hepatitis B virus-related HCC receiving ICIs combinations might positively correlate with survival advantages (R2=0.8039, p=0.0155). Conclusion: This NMA demonstrated that atezolizumab plus bevacizumab remains the stand of care and confers comparable survival benefits to sintilimab plus IBI305 and camrelizumab plus apatinib in first-line therapy for uHCC. The optimal treatment algorithms should consider efficacy, safety, and etiology.

Background: Many imaging scoring models have been developed for tumor surgery to provide critical guidance for the selection of surgical methods. However, little research has been aimed at developing scoring models for adrenal tumors and retroperitoneal laparoscopic adrenal surgery (RLAS), which has become the primary technique for treating adrenal tumors. The study set out to establish a computed tomography (CT)-based adrenal tumor scoring model for predicting perioperative outcomes in patients with adrenal tumors who have undergone RLAS. Methods: The retrospective analysis included 306 patients with adrenal tumors diagnosed by preoperative unenhanced or enhanced CT from January 2014 to August 2018 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University. CT images were used to quantify the tumor location and size; the relationships of the tumors with the surrounding organs and tissues, the large abdominal blood vessels, and the upper poles of the kidneys and renal hila; the adhesion of periadrenal fat (PF); and the tumor CT enhancement value. We conducted multivariate ordinal logistic regression analysis to screen variables and performed principal component analysis to construct a novel scoring model for RLAS. The perioperative outcomes of RLAS were evaluated according to postoperative length of stay, operative time (OT), intraoperative blood loss (IBL), and postoperative complications. Results: The final scoring model included tumor size; the relationships of the tumors with the surrounding organs and tissues, the large abdominal blood vessels, and the upper poles of the kidneys and renal hila; the tumor CT enhancement value; the adhesion of the PF; and the functional status of adrenal tumors. The total score had positive correlations with the OT (rs=0.431), IBL (rs=0.446), and postoperative length (rs=0.180) (all P values <0.001). Compared to any single metric, the total score provided better prediction of OT and IBL. The grading system for RLAS based on the scoring model also performed well in predicting the complexity and difficulty of RLAS. The coincidence rate for these factors was good (all P values <0.001). Conclusions: The developed model is feasible and repeatable in the prediction of the perioperative outcomes, complexity, and difficulty of RLAS.

Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a significant cause of heart failure in patients with diabetes, and its pathogenesis is closely related to myocardial mitochondrial injury and functional disability. Studies have shown that the development of diabetic cardiomyopathy is related to disorders in mitochondrial metabolic substrates, changes in mitochondrial dynamics, an imbalance in mitochondrial Ca2+ regulation, defects in the regulation of microRNAs, and mitochondrial oxidative stress. Physical activity may play a role in resistance to the development of diabetic cardiomyopathy by improving myocardial mitochondrial biogenesis, the level of autophagy and dynamic changes in fusion and division; enhancing the ability to cope with oxidative stress; and optimising the metabolic substrates of the myocardium. This paper puts forward a new idea for further understanding the specific mitochondrial mechanism of the occurrence and development of diabetic cardiomyopathy and clarifying the role of exercise-mediated myocardial mitochondrial changes in the prevention and treatment of diabetic cardiomyopathy. This is expected to provide a new theoretical basis for exercise to reduce diabetic cardiomyopathy symptoms.

In this work, we successfully constructed Mn-coordinated nitrogen-carbon nanoparticles (Mn-N-C NPs) exhibiting multienzyme-like activities. In a bacterial infectious microenvironment, the POD-like and OXD-like activities of Mn-N-C NPs could synergistically trigger the generation of ROS (˙OH and O2˙-), causing oxidative damage to the bacterial cell membrane for killing bacteria. Alternatively, in neutral or weak alkaline normal tissues, the excessive O2˙- could be converted into O2 and H2O2via the SOD-like ability of Mn-N-C NPs, and subsequently their CAT-like activity catalyzed excess H2O2 into H2O and O2 for protecting normal cells through the antioxidant defense. Mn-N-C NPs also possessed a good NIR-photothermal performance, which could enhance their POD-like and OXD-like activities. Furthermore, Mn-N-C NPs could facilitate the GSH oxidation process and disrupt the intrinsic balance in the bacterial protection microenvironment with the assistance of H2O2, which is beneficial for rapid bacterial death. Undoubtedly, the Mn-N-C NPs + H2O2 system showed the highest antibacterial activity when irradiated with an 808 nm laser, destroying the bacterial membrane and causing the efflux of proteins. Moreover, the Mn-N-C NPs + H2O2 system was immune to the development of bacterial resistance and could efficiently disrupt the formation of a bacterial biofilm with negligible cytotoxicity and low hemolysis ratio. Finally, Mn-N-C NPs exhibited an excellent antibacterial performance in vivo and could accelerate wound healing without cellular inflammation production. Therefore, due to their significant therapeutic effects, Mn-N-C NPs show great potential in fighting antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

Objective To assess the clinical effect of the Yiqi Huoxue Huazhuo therapy(the therapy for replenishing qi,activating blood and resolving turbidity)for the treatment of hepatic fibrosis in Wilson's disease(WD,also known as hepatolenticular degeneration).Methods Using retrospective research method,52 patients with liver fibrosis in WD of qi deficiency and blood stasis type were divided into 24 cases in the control group and 28 cases in the treatment group according to the treatment method.The control group was treated with conventional decopper therapy with western medicines,and the treatment group was treated with Chinese herbal decoction based on Yiqi Huoxue Huazhuo therapy together with conventional decopper therapy.Both groups were treated for a total of 4 weeks.Before and after the treatment,the two groups were observed in the changes of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores,Unified Wilson's Disease Rating Scale(UWDRS)hepatic symptom scores,serum levels of liver fibrosis indicators of pre-collagen typeⅢ(PCⅢ),hyaluronic acid(HA),collagenⅣ(CⅣ),and laminin(LN),C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 10(CXCL10)level,and the point shear-wave elastography(pSWE)values of hepatic ultrasound based on acoustic radiation force impulse imaging(ARFI).After treatment,the clinical efficacy of the two groups was evaluated.Results(1)After 4 weeks of treatment,the total effective rate of the treatment group was 85.71%(24/28),while that of the control group was 54.17%(13/24),and the intergroup comparison(tested by chi-square test)showed that the therapeutic efficacy of the treatment group was significantly superior to that of the control group(P<0.05).(2)After treatment,the TCM syndrome scores in both groups were decreased compared with those before treatment(P<0.01),and the decrease of TCM syndrome scores in the treatment group was significantly superior to that in the control group(P<0.05).(3)After treatment,the UWDRS liver symptom scores in the two groups were decreased compared with those before treatment(P<0.01),but the difference was not statistically significant when comparing between the two groups after treatment(P>0.05).(4)After treatment,serum levels of liver fibrosis indicators of HA,LN,CⅣ and PCⅢ in the treatment group were all decreased compared with those before treatment(P<0.01),while in the control group only serum LN and PCⅢlevels were decreased(P<0.05).The intergroup comparison showed that the decrease of serum HA,LN,and PCⅢlevels in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group(P<0.05 or P<0.01),while the decrease of serum CⅣlevel tended to be superior to that in the control group,but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).(5)After treatment,the serum chemokine CXCL10 level in the treatment group was significantly decreased compared with that before treatment(P<0.01),while the level tended to decrease in the control group,but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).The intergroup comparison showed that the reduction of serum CXCL10 level in the treatment group was significantly superior to that in the control group(P<0.05).(6)After treatment,the pSWE values of hepatic ultrasound in the two groups were lower than those before treatment(P<0.01),and the reduction of pSWE values in treatment group was significantly superior to that of the control group(P<0.01).Conclusion Yiqi Huoxue Huazhuo therapy can effectively reduce the TCM syndrome scores of WD patients,improve the UWDRS hepatic symptom scores,down-regulate the liver fibrosis indicator level and serum CXCL10 expression level,reduce the pSWE values of hepatic ultrasound,and enhance the clinical efficacy.

The present study measured serum levels of vitamin A (VA) and vitamin D (VD) in children with chronic tic disorders (CTD) and investigated their potential association with CTD and comorbidity of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and the association of their co-insufficiencies or deficiencies with CTD symptoms. A total of 176 children (131 boys and 45 girls, median age of 9 years) with CTD were recruited as the CTD group. During the same period, 154 healthy children were selected as the healthy control (HC) cohort. Circulating retinol and 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) levels were measured for all participants using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and tandem mass spectrometry. The Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS) was employed for the assessment of tic status and CTD impairment. The Swanson, Nolan, and Pelham Rating Scale (SNAP-IV) and the Children's Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale (CY-BOCS) were used to evaluate comorbidity symptoms. CTD pediatric participants exhibited markedly diminished circulating retinol and 25(OH)D levels compared to HCs. Moreover, VA and VD deficiencies and their co-insufficiencies/deficiencies were more prevalent in CTD participants than HCs. Circulating 25(OH)D levels were inversely proportional to the YGTSS motor tic scores. YGTSS scores in CTD children with only VA or VD insufficiency or deficiency or with VA and VD co-insufficiency/deficiency did not differ from those in CTD children with normal VA and VD. CTD children with comorbid ADHD displayed reduced circulating retinol and 25(OH)D concentrations and elevated prevalence of VD deficiency compared to CTD participants without comorbid ADHD. Lower serum retinol content was intricately linked to the presence of elevated CTD and comorbid ADHD. VA and VD deficiencies and their co-insufficiencies/deficiencies were markedly enhanced in CTD pediatric participants compared to HCs. Lower VA concentration was linked to the presence of enhanced CTD and comorbid ADHD. Therefore, children with CTD, especially with comorbid ADHD, may be at a higher risk of VA or VD deficiency, which may prompt the clinicians to consider whether blood tests for VA and VD in CTD children would be helpful for clinical care.
