Water vapor is an important meteorological parameter. Accurate prediction of water vapor content can be used to provide important reference information for heavy rainfall forecast and artificial precipitation operation. The current water vapor hybrid prediction model has the problem of future data leakage, and the error is accumulated by reconstructing the subsequence after prediction. Therefore, this paper proposes a stepwise decomposition-integration-prediction precipitable water vapor mechanism, named SDIPPWV, which can effectively solve the above problems. Firstly, High-precision precipitable water vapor (PWV) sequence is retrieved from Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) observation files. Then stepwise decomposition process uses a fixed-size window to segment the PWV sequence and Seasonal-Trend decomposition based on Loess (STL) to decompose the sequences within the window. Next, the features of the three sub-sequences are integrated to construct the feature space. Finally the prediction of PWV is obtained using 1D Convolutional Neural Network-Bidirectional Long Short Term Memory (1D CNN-BiLSTM). The model performance is verified using observation data from eight GNSS stations. The performance of the PWV prediction model proposed in this paper is effectively improved compared with the single prediction models and other hybrid models. The mean root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) and coefficient of determination (R2) of the eight stations are 0.2146 mm, 0.1132 mm, 1.29 %, and 0.9998, respectively. The results show that the model proposed in this paper improves the prediction accuracy of water vapor content while solving the data leakage problem.

The short lifespan of active oxygen species and depressed O2 level during ferroptosis treatment in tumor cells weaken ferroptosis therapy. How to improve the utilization efficiency of active oxygen species generated in real time is pivotal for anticancer treatment. Herein, the tirapazamine (TPZ) loaded polydopamine-Fe nanoparticles (PDA-Fe-TPZ) was modified with unsaturated liposome (Lip), which was constructed to overcome the drawbacks of traditional ferroptosis therapy. The Lip@PDA-Fe-TPZ nanoliposomes can react with H2O2 to produce •OH by Fenton reaction, which then attacks Lip and transforms into radical intermediate (L•) and phospholipid peroxide radical (LOO•) to avoid the annihilation of •OH. The introduced Lip enhances lipid peroxidation and promotes oxygen consumption, resulting in increased hypoxia at tumor site. The introduced TPZ can be triggered by reductase in tumor cells under hypoxia, which can reduce to transient oxidative free radicals by reductase enzymes and destroy the structure of the surrounding biomacromolecules, thus achieving the synergistic treatment of ferroptosis and chemotherapy. In this work, we organically combined enhanced ferrroptosis with hypoxic activated chemotherapy to achieve efficient and specific tumor killing effect, which can sever as a promising treatment of cancer in the future.

Currently, the copolymer of dopamine (DA) and pyrrole (PY) via chemical and electrochemical oxidation usually requires additional oxidants, and lacks flexibility in regulating the size and morphology, thereby limiting the broad applications of DA-PY copolymer in biomedicine. Herein, the semiquinone radicals produced by the self-oxidation of DA is ingeniously utilized as the oxidant to initiate the following copolymerization with PY, and a series of quinone-rich polydopamine-pyrrole copolymers (PDAm -nPY) with significantly enhanced absorption in near-infrared (NIR) region without any additional oxidant assistance is obtained. Moreover, the morphology and size of PDAm -nPY can be regulated by changing the concentration of DA and PY, thereby optimizing nanoscale PDA0.05 -0.15PY particles (≈ 150 nm) with excellent NIR absorption and surface modification activity are successfully synthesized. Such PDA0.05 -0.15PY particles show effective photoacoustic (PA) imaging and photothermal therapy (PTT) against 4T1 tumors in vivo. Furthermore, other catechol derivatives can also copolymerize with PY under the same conditions. This work by fully utilizing the semiquinone radical active intermediates produced through the self-oxidation of DA reduces the dependence on external oxidants in the synthesis of composite materials and predigests the preparation procedure, which provides a novel, simple, and green strategy for the synthesis of other newly catechol-based functional copolymers.

BACKGROUND: The effects of sleep duration on the development of mental illness remain controversial. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the effects of long or short sleep duration on psychological disorders, which could reveal new ways for preventing and treating mental health conditions cheaply. METHODS: Identifying published papers was accomplished by using the following five English databases on March 16, 2022: PubMed, MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science databases, and Scopus. Cross-sectional and cohort studies were considered if they evaluated the association of sleep duration with all kinds of mental illness in adults. We excluded case reports, editorials, narrative reviews, and studies without detailed information on sleep duration. Summary effect-size estimates were expressed as risk ratios (RRs) or odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals and were evaluated using random-effect models. Mantel-Haenszel's random-effects model was used to estimate the inconsistency index (I2) and Tau2 index (measurement of heterogeneity). RESULTS: A total of 52 studies were included in this analysis, consisting of 14 cohort studies and 38 cross-sectional studies. These studies involved a combined sample size of 1,407,891 participants who met the inclusion criteria. Cohort (adjusted RR = 1.42, 95% CI: 1.26-1.60, P < .001, I2 = 37.6%, Tau2 = 0.014) and cross-sectional studies (adjusted OR = 1.67, 95% CI: 1.57-1.77, P < .001, I2 = 79.7%, Tau2 = 0.060) concluded that short sleep duration increased mental disorder risks. The same conclusions were acquired in the subgroup analysis, especially for depression (adjusted RR = 1.43, 95% CI: 1.24-1.65, P < .001, I2 = 80.4%, Tau2 = 0.082), anxiety (adjusted RR = 1.30, 95% CI: 1.04-1.63, P = .002, I2 = 0.0%, Tau2 = 0.000), and PTSD (adjusted RR = 1.35, 95% CI: 1.04-1.76, P = .022, I2 = 24.1%, Tau2 = 0.013) in cohort studies. The results of subgroup analysis indicated that long sleep duration was not a risk factor for depression (adjusted RR = 1.15, 95% CI: 0.98-1.34, P = .088, I2 = 63.4%, Tau2 = 0.045) and anxiety (adjusted RR = 1.37, 95% CI: 0.93-2.03, P = .114, I2 = 0.0%, Tau2 = 0.000). CONCLUSIONS: Short sleep duration, not long sleep duration, is an independent predictor of developing mental disorders, particularly anxiety and depression.

HIGHLIGHTS: Influence of interface conductive network on ionic transport and mechanical stability under fast charging is explored for the first time. The mitigation of interface polarization is precisely revealed by the combination of 2D modeling simulation and Cryo-TEM observation, which can be attributed to a higher fraction formation of conductive inorganic species in bilayer SEI, and primarily contributes to a linear decrease in ionic diffusion energy barrier. The improved stress dissipation presented by AFM and Raman shift is critical for the linear reduction in electrode residual stress and thickness swelling. Progress in the fast charging of high-capacity silicon monoxide (SiO)-based anode is currently hindered by insufficient conductivity and notable volume expansion. The construction of an interface conductive network effectively addresses the aforementioned problems; however, the impact of its quality on lithium-ion transfer and structure durability is yet to be explored. Herein, the influence of an interface conductive network on ionic transport and mechanical stability under fast charging is explored for the first time. 2D modeling simulation and Cryo-transmission electron microscopy precisely reveal the mitigation of interface polarization owing to a higher fraction of conductive inorganic species formation in bilayer solid electrolyte interphase is mainly responsible for a linear decrease in ionic diffusion energy barrier. Furthermore, atomic force microscopy and Raman shift exhibit substantial stress dissipation generated by a complete conductive network, which is critical to the linear reduction of electrode residual stress. This study provides insights into the rational design of optimized interface SiO-based anodes with reinforced fast-charging performance.

The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of bulking agents on the maturity and gaseous emissions of composting kitchen waste. The composing experiments were carried out by selected core bacterial agents and universal bacterial agents for 20 days. The results demonstrated that the addition of core microbial agents effectively controlled the emission of typical odor-producing compounds. The addition of core and universal bacterial agents drastically reduced NH3 emissions by 94% and 74%, and decreased H2S emissions by 78% and 27%. The application of core microbial agents during composting elevated the peak temperature to 65 °C and in terms of efficient temperature evolution (>55 °C for 8 consecutive days). The organic matter degradation decreased by 65% from the initial values for core microbial agents were added, while for the other treatments the reduction was slight. Adding core microbial agents to kitchen waste produced mature compost with a higher germination index (GI) 112%, while other treatments did not fully mature and had a GI of <70%. Microbial analysis demonstrated that the core microbial agents in composting increased the relative abundances of Weissella, Ignatzschineria, and Bacteroides. Network and redundancy analysis (RDA) revealed that the core microbial agents enhanced the relationship between bacteria and the eight indicators (p < 0.01), thereby improving the bio transformation of compounds during composting. Overall, these results suggest that the careful selection of appropriate inoculation microorganisms is crucial for improved biological transformation and nutrient content composting efficacy of kitchen waste.

Diabetic nephropathy is a major complication of diabetes mellitus and is related to dysfunction of renal cells. Hederagenin is a triterpenoid saponin from some Chinese herbs with anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic activities. However, its role in diabetic nephropathy progression is still obscure. This study aimed to explore the effects of hederagenin on renal cell dysfunction in vitro. Human renal mesangial cells (HRMCs) and human renal proximal tubular epithelial cells (HRPTEpiCs) were cultured under high glucose (HG) conditions to mimic diabetic nephropathy-like injury. Cell proliferation was evaluated by CCK-8. mRNA and protein levels were determined by qRT-PCR and western blotting, respectively. The secretion levels of fibrosis-related biomarkers were analyzed by ELISA. Results showed that hederagenin reduced HG-induced proliferation increase in HRMCs and HRPTEpiCs. Hederagenin attenuated HG-induced increase in mRNA and protein expression of NLRP3, ASC, and IL-1ß. Hederagenin also suppressed HG-induced increase in mRNA and secretion levels of FN, Col. IV, PAI-1, and TGF-ß1. NLRP3 inhibitor MCC950 attenuated HG-induced fibrosis of renal cells, and its activator nigericin reversed the suppressive effect of hederagenin on HG-induced fibrosis. Bioinformatics analysis predicted cathepsin B (CTSB) as a target of hederagenin to modulate NOD-like receptor (NLR) pathway. Hederagenin decreased CTSB level, and CTSB overexpression reversed the suppressive effect of hederagenin on HG-induced NLRP3 inflammasome activation and fibrosis in HRMCs and HRPTEpiCs. In conclusion, hederagenin attenuates HG-induced fibrosis of renal cells by inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation via reducing CTSB expression, indicating a therapeutic potential of hederagenin in diabetic nephropathy.

Silicon-based anodes have been considered as ideal candidates for next-generation Li-ion batteries. However, the rapid cyclability decay due to significant volume expansion limits its commercialization. Besides, the instable interface further aggravates the degradation. Carbon coating is one effective way to improve the electrochemical performance.The coating integrity may be a critical index for core-shell structure electrode materials. Herein, the coating integrity of SiOx @C composite is tested by a developed selective alkali dissolution, further quantitatively depicted by a proposed index of alkali solubility α. The effect of coating integrity on electrochemical performance reveals that SiOx dissolution loss has a significant impact on the overall electrode structure stability and interface property. Because of the side reaction between uncoated active SiOx and electrolyte, the quadratic decrease of initial coulombic efficiency and increase of solid electrolyte interphase thickness with the rise of alkali solubility are closely related to the generated F content induced by active material loss, further supported by the obvious linear rise of Li2 SiF6 fraction, leads to the linear increase of interface impedance and volume expansion rate, which may take primarily responsibility for the performance decay. This work propels the fundamental understanding on the interface failure mechnism and inspires rational high-performance electrode material design.

The aim of this study was to explore the influence and removal of household water purifiers (HWPs) on emerging contaminants in drinking water, and their distribution characteristics. The antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs), mobile genetic elements (MGEs), virulence factor genes (VFGs) and bacterial communities were profiled in the fouled filters, influents, and effluents from HWPs with five steps of filtration after 150 days operation, using metagenomics. The results showed that the diversity of dominant species in Poly Propylene 1 µm (PP1) and nanofiltration membrane (NM) was significantly higher than that in other filters. Post-activated carbon (AC) was used to detect low species richness or diversity, and the highest proportion of dominant species, which contributes to the greater microbial risk of HWPs effluents in drinking water. The number of dominant bacterial genera in the filters disinfected with chloramine was higher than that in the same group disinfected with chlorine. The bacterial species richness or diversity in water was reduced by the purification of HWPs because the filter elements effectively trapped a variety of microorganisms. The relative abundance of Antibiotic efflux in the effluents of chlorinated and chloraminated HWPs was 5.58 × 10-3 and 4.60 × 10-3, respectively, which was the main resistance mechanism. High abundance of VFGs was found in HWPs effluents and the relative abundance of aggressive VFGs was significantly higher than those of defensive VFGs. Based on the co-occurrence results, 243 subtypes of ARGs co-occurred with VFGs, and a variety of bacteria were thought to be possible ARGs hosts, which indicated that the host bacteria of VFGs in HWP effluents had a stronger attack ability. The effluent of HWPs with only filtration processes is exposed to the risk of ARGs and VFGs. This study helps to understand the actual purification effect of HWPs and provides a theoretical reference for the management and control of ARGs pollution in domestic drinking water.

OBJECTIVE: To establish the dose effect relationship between the dose parameters of stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for early non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and the local tumor control rate. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A comprehensive literature search was conducted using PubMed, the Web of Science and the Cochrane databases to determine the articles treated with SBRT in early-stage NSCLC. Original studies with complete prescription dose information, tumor local control rate and other important parameters were screened and reported. Probit model in XLSTAT 2016 was used for regression analysis, and P < 0.05 was set as a statistically significant level. RESULTS: After literature screening, 22 eligible studies were included in probit model regression analysis, involving 1861 patients. There is no significant dose effect relationship between nominal BED10 and peripheral BED10 versus 3 years local control probability. There were significant dose effect relationships between the center BED10 and the average BED10 versus the 3 years local control probability, with P values are 0.001 and < 0.0001, respectively. According to the results of this model, the 3 years local control rate of 90.5% (87.5-92.1%) and 89.5% (86.7-91.0%) can be expected at the center BED10 of 180 Gy or the average BED10 of 140 Gy, prospectively. CONCLUSIONS: For NSCLC treated with SBRT, more attention should be paid to the central dose and average dose of PTV. A set of clear definition in the dose prescription should be established to ensure the effectiveness and comparability of treatment.

Gesture-based interfaces have become an effective control modality within the human computer interaction realm to assist individuals with mobility impairments in accessing technologies for daily living to entertainment. Recent studies have shown that gesture-based interfaces in tandem with gaming consoles are being used to complement physical therapies at rehabilitation hospitals and in their homes. Because the motor movements of individuals with physical impairments are different from persons without disabilities, the gesture sets required to operate those interfaces must be customized. This limits significantly the number and quality of available software environments for users with motor impairments. Previous work presented an analytic approach to convert an existing gesture-based interface designed for individuals without disabilities to be usable by people with motor disabilities. The objective of this paper is to include gesture variability analysis into the existing framework using robotics as an additional validation framework. Based on this, a physical metric (referred as work) was empirically obtained to compare the physical effort of each gesture. An integration method was presented to determine the accessible gesture set based on stability and empirical robot execution. For all the gesture types, the accessible gestures were found to lie within 34% of the optimality of stability and work. Lastly, the gesture set determined by the proposed methodology was practically evaluated by target users in experiments while solving a spatial navigational problem.

Polypropylene and PA66 are widely used in our daily life, but they cannot be welded by laser transmission welding (LTW) because of polar differences and poor compatibility. In this paper, grafting modification technology is used to improve the welding performance between polypropylene and PA66. Firstly, the strong reactive and polar maleic-anhydride (MAH) is grafted to polypropylene and infrared spectrometer is used to prove that MAH has been grafted to polypropylene. At the same time, the mechanical and thermal properties of the graft modified polypropylene (TGMPP) are tested. The results prove that the grafting modification has little influence on them. Also, the optical properties of TGMPP are measured. Then, the high welding strength between TGMPP and PA66 is found and the mechanism of the weldability is researched, which shows that there are two reasons for the high welding strength. By observing the micro morphology of the welding zone, one reason found is that the modification of polypropylene can improve the compatibility between polypropylene and PA66 and make them easy to diffuse mutually, which causes many locking structures formed in the welding region. The other reason is that there are chemical reactions between TGMPP and PA66 proved by the X-ray photoelectron spectrometer.

The feasibility for microplate-based screening of inhibitors of isozymes of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE) was tested via the coupled action of a phosphatase on adenosine-5'-monophosphate and an improved malachite green assay of phosphate. Human full-length PDE4B2 and truncated mutant (152-528aa) were expressed in Escherichia coli via fusion to SUMO, which after purification through Ni-NTA column exhibited specific activities >0.017 U mg(-1). In the presence of proteins <30 mg L(-1), absorbance for 10 µΜ phosphate was measurable; a PDE isozyme of specific activity over 0.008 U mg(-1) after reaction for 20 min thus suited for microplate-based screening of inhibitors. By using Biotek ELX 800 microplate reader, affinities of two forms of PEDE4B2 for cAMP, rolipram and papaverine varied over three magnitudes and were consistent with those by routine assay, respectively. Hence, the proposed method was promising for high-throughput-screening of inhibitors of phosphate-releasing enzymes bearing specific activities over 0.008 U mg(-1).

An innovative 3D joystick was developed to enable quadriplegics due to spinal cord injuries (SCIs) to more independently and efficiently operate a robotic arm as an assistive device. The 3D joystick was compared to two different manual input modalities, a keyboard control and a traditional joystick, in performing experimental robotic arm tasks by both subjects without disabilities and those with upper extremity mobility impairments. Fitts's Law targeting and practical pouring tests were conducted to compare the performance and accuracy of the proposed 3D joystick. The Fitts's law measurements showed that the 3D joystick had the best index of performance (IP), though it required an equivalent number of operations and errors as the standard robotic arm joystick. The pouring task demonstrated that the 3D joystick took significantly less task completion time and was more accurate than keyboard control. The 3D joystick also showed a decreased learning curve to the other modalities.

An integrated, computer vision-based system was developed to operate a commercial wheelchair-mounted robotic manipulator (WMRM). In this paper, a gesture recognition interface system developed specifically for individuals with upper-level spinal cord injuries (SCIs) was combined with object tracking and face recognition systems to be an efficient, hands-free WMRM controller. In this test system, two Kinect cameras were used synergistically to perform a variety of simple object retrieval tasks. One camera was used to interpret the hand gestures to send as commands to control the WMRM and locate the operator's face for object positioning. The other sensor was used to automatically recognize different daily living objects for test subjects to select. The gesture recognition interface incorporated hand detection, tracking and recognition algorithms to obtain a high recognition accuracy of 97.5% for an eight-gesture lexicon. An object recognition module employing Speeded Up Robust Features (SURF) algorithm was performed and recognition results were sent as a command for "coarse positioning" of the robotic arm near the selected daily living object. Automatic face detection was also provided as a shortcut for the subjects to position the objects to the face by using a WMRM. Completion time tasks were conducted to compare manual (gestures only) and semi-manual (gestures, automatic face detection and object recognition) WMRM control modes. The use of automatic face and object detection significantly increased the completion times for retrieving a variety of daily living objects.

For enzymatic analysis to quantify a substrate or enzyme, kinetic analysis of reaction curve can be integrated with a proper classical approach. For their integration, they should have consistent slopes and intercepts of linear response and an overlapped region of analyte quantities measurable under optimized conditions. To quantify a substrate after optimizations of tool enzyme activity and reaction duration, the equilibrium method works when the reaction is completed within the reaction duration; otherwise, kinetic analysis of reaction curve applies providing at least seven data with sufficient consumption of substrate. To quantify an enzyme after optimizations of initial substrate concentration and reaction duration, the classical initial rate method works when an estimated initial rate locates within the linear range; otherwise, kinetic analysis of reaction curve applies after the conversion of the quantification index with optimized parameters. This integration strategy has ideal linear ranges and practical efficiency for quantifying an enzyme at moderate substrate levels and for quantifying a substrate at moderate cost on tool enzyme; it has promise to simultaneous assays of multiple enzymes in one reaction vessel each time and ,thus, potential applications to concurrently quantify multiple serum enzymes, screen inhibitors against multiple enzyme targets, and detect multiple serum components by enzymeimmunoassay.

BACKGROUND: Lymphatic vessel invasion (LV) has been regarded as a prognostic factor in some solid tumors. The aim was to clarify the impact of lymphatic vessel invasion on survival in curative resected gastric cancer. METHODS: In this retrospective study, we reviewed the records of 1,024 patients who underwent curative resection for gastric cancer. Among all of the studied patients, 285 of them (27.8%) had lymphatic vessel invasion. RESULTS: There were significant differences in tumor size, tumor location, depth of invasion, and lymph node metastasis (LN) between the patients with lymphatic vessel invasion and those without. The 5-year survival rates in patients were 80.1%, 59.2%, 40.9%, and 30.5% for LN-LV-, LN-LV+, LN+LV-, and LN+LV+ group, respectively. Multivariate analysis revealed that age, tumor location, the depth of invasion, and lymph node metastasis were independent prognostic factors for curative resected gastric cancer. Lymphatic vessel invasion was not an independent prognostic factor in node-positive gastric cancer; however, it was true in node-negative gastric cancer. CONCLUSION: Lymphatic vessel invasion is one of the independent prognostic factors for node-negative gastric cancer after curative resection.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of paclitaxel with low-dose cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil continuous infusion in the treatment of advanced gastric carcinoma. METHODS: The patients were treated with paclitaxel liposome 60 mg/m(2) i.v. gtt on d1, 8, 15, DDP 15 mg×m(-2)×d(-1) by i.v. gtt on d1-5, 5-Fu 500 mg×m(-2)×d(-1) by civ for 120 h, administered every 21 days. RESULTS: Out of the whole group, 3 cases achieved CR, 29 cases achieved PR with an ORR of 54.2% and median TTP of 7.1 months. Out of 40 cases in the primary treatment, 3 cases achieved CR, 22 cases achieved PR with an ORR of 62.5% and median TTP of 7.6 months. Out of 20 evaluable retreated cases, no case achieved CR, 7 cases achieved PR with an ORR of 36.8% and median TTP 6.3 months. The main toxicities were hematological toxicities, nausea and vomiting of grade I-II. CONCLUSION: The combination regimen of paclitaxel, low-dose cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil is effective and well tolerated for patients with advanced gastric carcinoma, especially for primary treatment cases. It is worthy of further study.

Prokaryotic expression vector of mouse HPV16E6 gene was constructed. A pair of primers were designed according to the digestion sites in plasmid pGEX-KG and the HPV16E6 gene sequence published by GenBank. The DNA fragment of 321bp was amplified by PCR from the HPV recombinant plasmid with HPV16E6 gene, then cloned into pGEX-KG and transformed into the host E. coli strain JM109. The fragment was conformed to the original sequence, which indicated that fusion expression vector pGEX-KG-HPV16E6 was constructed. The pGEX-KG-HPV16E6 plasmid was taken and transformed into BL21(DE3) for expression. Induced by IPTG at 37 degrees C, the expression product of HPV16E6 gene was identified by SDS-PAGE and Western blot. HPV16E6 fusion protein had been expressed successfully in the form of inclusion bodies, the molecular weight of fusion protein being 38 kD. Meanwhile, the optimum condition of HPV16E6 fusion protein expression was induced with 1.0 mmol/L IPTG for 4h. The fusion protein reacted specifically with the antibodies against HPV16E6. HPV16E6 gene was successfully expressed in E. coli, which could be used as a basis for preparing HPV16E6 vaccine in human.
