RESUMEN

Nanocomposites based on ferromagnetic nickel nanoparticles and graphene-related materials are actively used in various practical applications such as catalysis, sensors, sorption, etc. Therefore, maintaining their dispersity and homogeneity during deposition onto the reduced graphene oxide substrate surface is of crucial importance to provide the required product characteristics. This paper demonstrates a new, reproducible method for preparing a tailored composite based on nickel nanoparticles on the reduced graphene oxide surface using supercritical isopropanol treatment. It has been shown that when a graphene oxide film with previously incorporated Ni2+ salt is treated with isopropanol at supercritical conditions, nickel (2+) is reduced to Ni (0), with simultaneous deoxygenation of the graphene oxide substrate. The resulting composite is a solid film exhibiting magnetic properties. XRD, FTIR, Raman, TEM, and HRTEM methods were used to study all the obtained materials. It was shown that nickel nanoparticles on the surface of the reduced graphene oxide had an average diameter of 27 nm and were gradually distributed on the surface of reduced graphene oxide sheets. The data obtained allowed us to conduct a reconnaissance discussion of the mechanism of composite fabrication in supercritical isopropanol.

RESUMEN

Pseudomonas species are among the main pathogens causing rainbow trout infections. The present study provides a simple, green, sustainable, and rapid technique to synthesize of biogenic alginate-capped silver nanoparticles (Alg-Ag NPs) suitable for the treatment of Pseudomonas infections. It has been shown that the mechanism (aggregative or autocatalytic) of Alg-Ag NPs formation depended on Alg concentration and the heating approach used. The rate constants and activation energy were calculated. Alg-Ag NPs were characterized by UV-Vis, FTIR, XRD, TEM, AFM, XPS, and DLS. The optimal conditions for the fabrication of spherically-shaped (17-19 nm) and negatively-charged (zeta-potential <-50 mV) Alg-Ag NPs, which are stable during 9 months, included hot-plate assisted synthesis at 100 °C in diluted (1 mg/mL) Alg solutions. In vitro studies showed that Alg-Ag NPs exhibited prominent antimicrobial activity against collection Pseudomonas strains (inhibition zones ranged from 9.0 ± 1.0 to 19.0 ± 1.0 mm), with no significant loss of antibacterial efficacy after 9 months of storage. AFM analysis confirmed that the antibacterial effect of Alg-Ag NPs dealt with the direct nanomechanical disrupting of bacterial cells. The ability of Alg-Ag NPs to inhibit the growth of virulent P.aeruginosa, P.fluorescens and P. putida strains isolated from infected rainbow trout was evaluated. All tested strains were susceptible to Alg(10)-Ag NPs, while Alg(1)-Ag NPs demonstrated a limited strain-specific antibacterial effect. The obtained data displayed the prospects for the application of biogenic Alg-Ag NPs to create novel delivery systems for combating Pseudomonas infections in rainbow trout.

RESUMEN

In the course of the study, nanocrystalline cobalt monoboride was prepared by thermal decomposition of precursors [Co(DMF)6][An], where [An] = [B12H12]2- (1), [trans-B20H18]2- (2) or [B10Cl10]2- (3) in an argon atmosphere. Three new salt-like compounds 1-3 were prepared when Co(NO3)2 was allowed to react with (Et3NH)2[An]. Compound 1 is new; the structures of compounds 2 and 3 have been previously reported. Samples 1-3 were annealed at 900 °C in argon to form samples 1a-3a, which were characterized by single crystal XRD for 1 and powder XRD for 1-3. Powder XRD on the products showed the formation of BN and CoB for 1a in a 1:1 ratio; 2a gave a higher CoB:BN ratio but an overall decreased crystallinity. For 3a, only CoB was found. IR spectra of samples 1a-3a as well as X-ray spectral fluorescence analysis for 3a confirmed these results. The nanoparticular character of the decomposition products 1a-3a was shown using TEM; quite small particle sizes of about 10-15 nm and a quite normal size distribution were found for 1a and 2a, while the decomposition of 3 gave large particles with 200-350 nm and a broad distribution.
