RESUMEN

We present a new collusion attack to a kind of quantum secret sharing schemes with entangled states. Using this attack, an unauthorized set of agents can gain access to the shared secret without the others' cooperation. Furthermore, we establish a general model for this kind of quantum secret sharing schemes and then give some necessary conditions to design a secure quantum secret sharing scheme under this model.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one of the most common chronic complications of diabetes and the leading cause of end-stage renal disease. Recent research has found that oxidative stress participates in the development of diabetic nephropathy. α-lipoic acid (α-LA), a powerful antioxidant, plays an important role in renal protection against DN, but the underlying mechanism remains unknown. This study modeled the renal protective effects of α-lipoic acid in streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rats and explore the underlying mechanism, which provides new theoretical bases for clinical treatment of diabetic nephropathy. METHODS: The diabetic model was induced by intraperitoneal injection of STZ on Male SD and then the diabetic rats were randomly divided into two groups: untreated-diabetic group (DM group), α-LA treated-diabetic group (α-LA group), and the normal rats served as control group (NC group). After 8 weeks of STZ induction, Blood glucose (BG), Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), Serum Creatinine (SCr) and urinary albumin excretion rate (UAER) were examined, and morphological changes were assessed by histology. The levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) were also evaluated in serum and renal cortex. Additionally, kidney mitochondrial membrane potential and mitochondrial swelling were measured for different groups. The expression of voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC) on mitochondria were evaluated by both Western blotting and Immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: After 8 weeks induction of STZ, significant reductions in BUN, SCr, UAER (P<0.01 or P<0.05) and histological improvement were observed in the α-LA group compared to the DM group. In the serum and renal cortex of α-LA group, the content of MDA and the activities of SOC were both significantly decreased (P<0.05). Compared to the DM group, the mitochondrial membrane potential in the α-LA group was significantly increased (P<0.05) and mitochondrial swelling was reduced. Meanwhile, the expression of VDAC on mitochondrial was significantly increased (P<0.05) in the α-LA group. CONCLUSION: Our findings indicate that antioxidant α-LA exerts a protective role against the development of DN, and the underlying mechanism may involve effective suppression of the generation of oxidants, protection of mitochondrial function, and up-regulating of VDAC expression.

RESUMEN

We consider to construct 4(L)-components vectors for a DNA primary sequence based on the L-tuple. For two DNA sequences, using the corresponding vectors, we construct a set of L x L matrices called related matrix. The mathematical characterization from the constructed matrices have been selected to characterize the degree of similarity between the two DNA sequences. The search for similar sequences of a query sequence from a database of 39 library sequences and the construction of phylogenetic tree of H5N1 avian influenza virus illustrate the utility of the matrices for DNA sequences.

RESUMEN

AIM: To construct the MyD88-Pseudomonas aeruginosa epitope vaccine and study its expression in eukaryotic cells. METHODS: To design and synthesize an epigene containing three B cell epitopes of OprF and one foreign "promiscuous" T cell epitope by overlapping extension PCR. tPA signal encoding sequence was amplified by PCR and then it was inserted into the 5' terminus of the epigene to construct tPA-OprF. tPA-OprF and MyD88 were cloned into the expression vector pIRES and the recombinant plasmid pIRES-tPAOprF-MyD88 was constructed. The recombinant plasmid was transfected into COS-7 cells by electroporation. The expression protein of tPA-OprF and MyD88 was detected by Western blot. RESULTS: The recombinant plasmid pIRES-tPA-OprF-MyD88 was successfully constructed. Western blot analysis indicated the tPA-OprF fusion protein was expressed in supertanant of COS-7 cells and MyD88 protein in COS-7 cells. CONCLUSION: The recombinant plasmid pIRES-tPA-OprF-MyD88 has been successfully constructed and tPA-OprF and MyD88 protein can be highly expressed in transfected cells. It may be used as a potential candidate of preventive vaccine of pseudomonas aeruginosa.

RESUMEN

We consider construction of a characteristic distribution of an L-tuple in a DNA sequence. The mathematical characteristic of the characteristic distribution is selected as invariant to characterize the L-tuple. With the invariant, we can perform the sequence comparison. The graphs of characteristic distributions of dinucleotide GC for the coding sequences of the first exon of beta-globin gene of eleven different species and the construction of phylogenetic tree of twenty four coronavirus genomes illustrate the utility of the approach.

RESUMEN

We describe the DNA primary sequences by random walk. With the description, two random sequences {Y(m)} and {X(n)} corresponding to a DNA sequence, as well as graphical representations of DNA sequences are given. We further prove that two random sequences {Y(m)} and {X(n)} are both Markov chains. Based on transition probability distributions of Markov chains, some numerical characterizations of random sequences, we introduce some new invariants for the DNA primary sequences. Then using these invariants, we make comparisons among primary sequences for exon 1 of beta-globin genes belonging to nine species for analysis of the similarity and dissimilarity.
